  the hotel has the very best location in old town plaka and is in walking distance to everything and also easy access to and from airport via the metroline which stops at monastiraki obly 100 meter from hotel. very friendly and helpful staff and also i was very satisfied with the breakfast buffet.fantastic roof terrace with acropolis view

  To celebrate the return of a budget surplus and a promising greek economy we chose Athens for our New Year's Eve celebrations. The celebrations themselves were fairly low-key (not a semi-war of privately set off fireworks), but very pleasant, the main positive was the genuine friendliness of the many Athenians we met, this includes the hotel staff. As a hotel, Central Athens Hotel is, as you'd imagine, pretty central, but still in a quiet street, and with a view of the Acropolis, I have to say it was not too bad at all. For the critical perfectionist, things to note could be; the washbasin in the bathroom could've been slightly larger, the showerhead slightly better, the rooftop jacuzzi would be nice to sit in even on a winters day (it is only open between april and october) and the breakfast on weekends could be served until later than 1030. All in all, only a fool would not enjoy Central Athens Hotel, I expect they will be doing well as Greece picks up again. As for NYE celebrations, Athens seemed rather civilised, but more fun than most other Mediterranean cities.

  Good stay, stayed there for 4 days during a meeting. Busy days so never really got a chance to explore the pool (not heated i think). Had my private balcony, but there was a lot of noice from the nearby crossing street (my room faced same direction as the main entrance). This made it impossible to sleep with the balcony-door open. With door closed, no noices. There is walking distance to Akropolis, takes you about 15 minutes. Went to nightclub in Gazi and Kolonaki, this was less than a 10 euro cab-drive away. Room was clean, good service although I got no help with my heavy luggage.
