"The hotel is in a god location for everything"
The hotel is excellent but marred only by a door next to the business area, leading into the kitchen, that slams incessantly and is a source of great annoyance..
"City Centre"
Very nice neighbourhood, hotel is old and not very well maintained. Staff is neglecting, breakfast is VERY basic!
"In the heart of Old City"
The Sheraton Society Hill was the perfect choice for this mother's day getaway. Everything beautiful about Philly was within a 10 min walk, the staff was incredibly polite and the room was great. I have friends in Philly and would go back to the Sheraton.
"Sheraton Society Hill"
This hotel is decent. Safe neighborhood; close enough to walk to many of the historic attractions; lots of restaurants around to choose from. When checking in, I'd recommend seeing where your room is on a map of the premises - if you can, don't get a room that opens to the atrium, you'll hear the conventioneers boozing it up all night. Otherwise, this […] was a good, clean option for the historic district without completely breaking the bank. Les mer
"Noisy Hotel, Poor Service"
I recently stayed at this hotel for a conference. The internet was down the entire weekend. Upon asking the front desk about it, I was told that I could contact AT&T directly to inquire about the hotel's wifi problem. This was also VERY noisy hotel. The middle of the hotel is open and there's a bar on the first floor and if you are anywhere near the […] balcony, the noise carries really loudly. I couldn't get to sleep before 1am any of the three nights I was there, and I was awoke about 1:30am one night by the noise from downstairs. My AC unit was also prohibitively noisy. There's also the very strange problem of the fact that there is no way to walk up to your room. All of the stairwells lead outside the building, none of them to the inside of the first floor. So, you have to take the elevator to your room every single time, which is time consuming and ridiculous, since I was only staying on the second floor. I will not stay there again. It was a poor trip and when I asked about the above issues with the front desk, no attempt was made to address my issues or move me to a different room. Les mer
"Noisy Construction"
They are doing extensive renovations, or at least they were this past weekend. We were awoken by a fire alarm triggered by the construction early in the morning. After this, the nearly constant jackhammering outside our room made it impossible to go back to sleep. We were looking for a pleasant getway for the weekend, and we got a noise-filled wake […] up call and a headache. I would not stay here again. Les mer
"staff"
staff very unfriendly
"Very good hotel!"
It was a very pleasant experience indeed. Hotel has excellent facilities, and you can even walk to most attractions in downtown Philadelphia. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and very professional. I will definitely stay here again and would gladly recommend it.

"All-around nice experience, location ideal"
For one that wants to tour historical Philadelphia, this is the ultimate location. Most historical attractions (Independence Hall, Constitution Ctr, etc.) are within a very short walking distance, and arts/shopping is roughly a 20 minute walk. The hotel was beautiful and in great condition, the rooms were lovely, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service […] great. Case in point: They didn't have a fridge available, so instead offered to store our perishables in the restaurants fridge. However, there was some construction going on in the lobby. Also, the concierge wasn't overly familiar with some attractions, so plan your trip ahead of time. All in all, it was a truly pleasant experience. Les mer
"Nice Hotel, BUT...."
Very nice hotel, extremely clean and spacious but they did not honor my reservation request for 2 double beds. They told me they would send up a rollaway bed but they never did.
"Would stay here again!"
The place was quite comfortable, close to shops and restaurants but far enough away from downtown to make it quite at night. The starbucks in the lobby is clutch, one less thing you have to find before starting your day.
"Ben Franklin was right.Should have saved my penny!"
We booked an expensive Club level room. On arrival, room not made up from previous guests. Moved us to a different room at 9:00 PM. That room was much smaller. Between my wife, me and our 2 kids we literally had to travel single file between the beds and the dresser. We brought the problems to the front desk. They made it clear that because we booked […] through Hotels dot com, the Sheraton, although thet wanted to, couldn't comp our stay. All they could provide was a free breakfast, which we already had paid for since we had booked, through Hotels dot com, on the club floor. This was for sure not a 3 1/2 star experience. Les mer
Pillows could have been better. Parking prices were a little steep. Other wise it was very good.
"Pretty nice, but pricey for what you get"
A bit pricey but ok for a hotel in a nice neighborhood. They really should tell you that many rooms face the interior of the hotel, so that your room can be seen at night by people in the lobby if your curtains aren't drawn. I was at the hotel for a conference and there was some construction going on. Valet parking is pricey and I was not aware that […] there was another lot nearby... Overall a nice hotel. I'd stay somewhere cheaper if I were not there for a conference at the hotel. Les mer

"Not great"
I was unpleasantly surprised to be charged an excessive amount of money to park overnight. Overall the hotel is nice but the layout is confusing and not clearly marked. The rooms are small and the bathrooms have almost no counter space to lay out your toiletries. The one closet was very small- about the size of a broom closet- and interfered with the […] door to the room. They do not provide a continental breakfast - or even coffee in the lobby, at least on Sundays. I will choose a different hotel next time I'm in Philadelphia. Les mer

"sheraton society: return when construction is done"
I had a pleasant stay in this hotel three years ago but this time the restaurant and parts of the pool area were under construction. The former matters since there isn't any walkable food places other than bars in the area, and nothing immediately available. It was also disturbing that a loud group came into the pool and made a lot of noise well after […] 10pm when it was supposed to be closed. This was rectified after calling management but this should have been avoided. The whole group I was with complained about the beds' comfort and the lack of a plug for the tub was yet another sign of the negligence that seems to have crept into this hotel. Hopefully it will improve after the construction is complete. Les mer
"Great location near Old City"
Everything was great, only wish they had a refrigerator in the room. It is cheaper to park at the Ritz lot on 2nd between Chestnut and Walnut. Nearly half the price that Sheraton charges, and only a block away.

"Awesome Stay in Society Hill"
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! The Valets were the best and were very quick when we needed our car. ABSOLUTELY going to stay here again!
"Sheraton at Society Hill in PA"
While the hotel itself was mostly nice. The pool was closed during this week along with other construction being done. I appreciate the fact that the staff was working on Christmas Eve but some were definitely much more helpful and nicer than others. The hotel was close to where we wanted to be but we were not happy that we had to valet our car even […] though the valet himself was excellent! The room was mostly clean but really needed a wipe down in the bathroom again. The room was good size and even fit a twin size roll out bed for our child. Les mer

"The perfect location"
If there was anything negative to say about out stay, it is completely void due to the epic location this hotel is in. Walking distance from everything, we parked our car out in LC and took the train downtown. Never regretted that. The hotel was clean, well kept, beautiful.. the rooms were spacious and nice. There was some construction and a convention […] that Saturday AM in the lobby - some of those noises leaked into our room. But not until after 9:30am, which I feel is completely reasonable. I would stay here again, in fact I hope to do so. You will not be disappointed with the location or price.. it was great quality for how low our room rate was. I wish I could put a six for the convenience and neighborhood ratings. Les mer
"Under construction!"
The hotel is under massive construction and the hallways were noisy at night (you have to slam the room doors shut to close them, so every time someone in a room in your hallway comes or goes you wake up. If you are going, make sure the hotel is no longer under construction. The rooms are very small (we had a room with a king bed). Finally, it too us […] about 35 minutes to get our car from Valet; just one poor guy running to get people's cars, one at a time.... Location is great though; really do wait till the construction is complete. Maybe they will fix the doors too, and have a few people on valet -- then it would be just fine. Les mer
"Very disappointed"
Sheraton Hotel is suppose to be a superior hotel and a land mark to other hotels. But when I got in the room, and this is NOT a smoking room, the smell of the room was unbearable. It smelled like a used rag. I was very disappointed because I have stayed there before and I don't remember it being this way..... 2 stars at best
"Sheraton Society Hill - Old City, Philadelphia"
This hotel is perfect for a business traveler or for a weekend getaway to see the sights in Philadelphia. The neighborhood was clean and friendly. Very pretty and comftorable to walk around
"Sheraton Society Hill- GREAT hotel near Old City!"
My friends and I stayed here over a weekend for my best friend's birthday. We live about 30 minutes from Philadelphia, but for her birthday she wanted to do a night out on the town without worrying about driving home. The only thing we focused on when looking for a hotel was that we wanted to be close to Old City, and less than 2 blocks away was awesome! […] Our room was very clean, and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't realize that the hotel was valet parking only, which my bff is kind of antsy about, but it was fine. Unfortunately we kept forgetting things in the car, so our bellboy went back & forth from our room to the car literally 3 times. I felt horrible, but he was so nice about it! Everything was so simple and a breeze. This probably going to be my top choice when I'm out in Philly again! Les mer
"Great location to Old City"
Great location to Old City and South Street area in Philly. I would say my only complaint were the greeters/front door attendants. There were usually 3-4 at the front door at a time and while some did hold open the door, rarely did they say hello. Seemed odd to me. Just not very friendly. Could always find a cab across the street.
"Horrible experience if you're in an adjoining room"
I can tell you that I expect what I pay for and this property's quality of construction was severely lacking. I was put in a room with an adjoining door that turned out to be AWFUL! The people in the adjoining room were loud and drunk. They returned around 1:30 AM and proceeded to shout and yell for over an hour - all the while coming right through […] the paper thin door. AWFUL experience - I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Les mer

"Society Hill Sheraton.....Great Location!"
We parked our car and never used it until check-out. The hotel was clean and comfortable and had all we could ever want. (Bar, restaurant ( although pricey for breakfast), pool, nice lobby and ideal location!). The neighborhood is historic with a movie theatre and wine bar right across the street and wonderful historic houses and cobblestone streets […] to explore. A short walk to South St. where there are many shops and restaurants and bars to occupy the evening. I will stay here again and highly reccomend this hotel! Les mer
"Everything was perfect but,"
We both loved the location, the room was fine the staff was nice;but there was too much going on there. At no fault of the hotel we happened to stay the night of a wedding and a family reunion. Needless to say it was very noisy very late. Bad luck on our part I guess but it might be worth asking if there are any major bookings during your stay. Just […] enough aggravation to make the perfect situation imperfect. I would still recommend this hotel as I am sure this doesn't happen every night. Les mer
"Good location--old, but clean hotel."
While the service was very good upon check-in, when I checked out at 4am to catch an early flight, the front desk attendant was not very friendly. It also sort of bothers me when hotels charge an extra fee for Wi-Fi. It was quite expensive!

"A little dated, but wonderful stay."
Hotel was very nice. We normally stay at the Hyatt Penn's landing, but they were booked. This hotel has had some bad reviews which made us skeptical about booking here, but none the less we needed a quick weekend getaway. This was a wonderful substitution. The hotel is a little old, with need of a paint job on doors and walls, but all in all it is a […] great place to stay. I wish they had Ipod dock radio clocks like every other hotel.though. No place to charge our iphones, which we had gotten use to. Les mer

"Sheraton Society Hill -Nice but tips not included"
We booked this hotel through Hotels.com. Not very well executed on that end, but the hotel staff at the Sheraton fixed what they could of our reservation. The hotel is nice, comfortable, with Starbucks coffee in the lobby and in your room. Very helpful. The room itself was fairly modern, but no fridge, microwave or other comforts. Bathroom needed […] updating but was clean and serviceable. The area around this hotel included several of the old Philly Independence sites. Very well placed. The staff were fantastic and very friendly. The exercise room was large, clean, and well-equipped. That said, the incidental expenses associated with staying here were shocking. There is no public parking, so it's $29 a day plus tip for the valet service or you're out of luck. Folks from back east may have no issues with this, but us country folk had a hard time shelling the cash... There are no restaurants near the hotel (that are reasonable). The hotel has a restaurant in it, but the prices are crazy. The 6-foot long breakfast buffet (with only minimal fare on it) costs $20 per person (plus drinks and tip). Breakfast for two was close to $50, which is insane for a small hotel buffet. After you're done tipping everyone from the bellboy to the wait staff to the parking attendant (to get your car back), you've easily spent an extra two hundred bucks for your stay. I don't recommend this hotel for folks on a tight budget. I do recommend the front desk staff, however, so if cost is no object, it's a great stay. Les mer

Loved the hotel. Very friendly staff, comfortable room, and great location for touristy stuff. Parking fee a bit steep.
"No frills hotel but well located"
This hotel is within a few blocks of both the waterfront and the historic district. The terrain is flat and the city is very walkable. You would be hard pressed to beat this location if you want to be central to the historic district, south Philly, and the waterfront. However, do not expect to find any affordable dining near the hotel - especially […] in the morning. I don't know how specific they let me be in this review... but there is one dinner a four of five blocks south which had a nice breakfast which was less than half the cost of the hotel's (at was twice as good). Dinner and lunch are much easier: One of the city's best restaurants for lunch/dinner is literally across the street from the hotel. Numerous other choices for lunch or dinner are available nearby. However, they tend to be pricey. Do not mistake this for a luxury hotel. Bring your own blankets if you like having anything more than sheets on the bed. The comforter was little more than a red sheet. The hotel also lacks some other conveniences which I take for granted: like snack machines. While the hotel is non-smoking we thought it smelled like it had allowed smoking recently. It did not bother us after we got used to it but it might bother some people. If you are very sensitive to smells you might want to stay somewhere else. There were some problems with the hotel listing on this site. You should call the hotel to double-check things that you really care about. In our case the listed parking rate was wrong when we booked (hotel charged more than what was listed) and the hotel was out to be pet friendly (which we wanted) despite not being listed as pet friendly. To end on a positive note: The staff is very friendly... actually among the best I've had in a long time. (and I travel a lot) The friendly staff and excellent location really helped make up for this hotels other shortcomings. Les mer
"Society Hill"
Well, I know the Sheraton name to be indicative of better service and quality. The front desk was great. Once to our room, we discovered that our door did not shut without slamming it. Our toilet did not flush. And the air conditioning only had two temperatures: OFF and 65 degrees. When I called guest services to inquire about the air, the attendant […] told me to press up. I explained that the buttons were not working and she just kept saying press up. The next day as I walked down the hall, I saw a housekeeper, so I asked her for some more coffee for our room. She advised me that she was not our housekeeper and begrudgingly gave us some more coffee. Some service members did stand out and excel. Bernardo brought me a complimentary cup of coffee after I had gone to the Club Room after breakfast hours. The bartender also was especially attentive and engaging in pleasant conversation. I believe his name was Spencer. Overall, I was not all that impressed for the amount of money that we paid. Les mer

hotel was fantastic... parking (although pricey) was VERY convenient. Location was fantastic... in fact I cannot wait to go back for a night. 12 of us stayed there for a bachelorette party.... and had the best time in Philadelphia with all the hotspots well within walking distance.

"Sheraton Society Hill - Philadelphia"
Sheraton Society Hill is perfect for anyone looking to see America's history in Philadelphia. It's only a 10 minute walk from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, plus tons of restaurants and bars. It was only a 25 minute walk to get the good cheese steaks. Right off of I-95, easy to get in and out of the city without dealing with many lights or […] traffic of any kind. Hotel is in a nice secluded area of Old Town and beautiful on the inside. Les mer
