DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Portland - South Portland

Every Doubletree I stay at is great and this one was no different. They promptly sent champagne to my room and room servive from the downstairs restaurant arrived quick and was delicious. The shuttle to the airport left every 20 minutes and got me there on time.

The hotel itself was very nice, well maintained and staffed. Unfortunately our room (for 3 adults) felt a bit cramped, and we were a bit disappointed at the lack of a mini fridge or microwave. We visited Portland for funerary services for my father and spent alot of time in the room itself. Future visits may be questionable. There was no clear explaination […] of things that were included in the room and things that we had to pay extra for (like 3.50 for a bottle of water) when you include a coffee pot and supplies in the room) On future visits, we have discussed staying elsewhere as we were overall not impressed with the "Hilton" experience. The desk staff were very friendly. However, they were out of the signature cookies... out again when we returned later... took until checkout to get our welcome cookies! The bathroom was aging a bit but the carpet in the room looked very new.

The Doubletree is a very nice hotel - the room was pretty clean and spacious (king size room). However, one thing I didn't realize when booking it, was that the rooms don't have a microwave or mini fridge. I can only assume that is so that you'll spend your money on room service or the restaurant in the building. Eating out 3x's a day quickly adds up […] - I would much rather have had at least a fridge that I could have put some drinks to keep cold. Les mer

Book it! I've always wanted to stay in these two round hotels since I was a little girl. My husband booked a room as a surprise. I was very pleased with this hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the get go. There was a hockey tournement in town so there were A LOT of kids running around with parents trying to attend to them and their […] things, while check in. My husband and I mentioned how helpful the hotel staff was with these families. We thought it was great! The hotel is located across the street from the mall and you'll have your pick of restaurants. Our room was airy, bright, very clean. The bed was so comfortable we had a hard time getting up in the morning. We will definitely book this hotel again. Next time, we'll take the time to enjoy the bar and pool :) Les mer

Very comfortable beds. Small restaurant with attentive staff and good food. Bathroom lighting subpar. Small but well heated indoor pool. Overall a very good experience.

This hotel is a great deal for your buck. Just 10 minutes away from downtown Portland. Hotel is literally across the street from the Maine Mall with great shops and restaurants. We just spent a few days at this hotel over the Thanksgiving holiday. Travelled with a young family, brought our dog also. Room was clean and we were in the West tower. Pool was a bonus and was used by us each day for the kids - it is showing its age, but was clean and there were plenty of clean towels available. Plenty of chain stores and restaurants […] in the area (we ate out all the time), and its only a 10min drive to Portland city center. An enjoyable stay. Les mer

While we got an amazing price on our stay, we were disappointed with the condition of the building, and our room especially. Hotel was rated as a 3-star, but we've seen better 2-star hotels. Maintence issues include: 1. Outlets in the room that were very loose, a plug would barely stay in them without falling out. 2. The thermostat setting seemed to […] have NO effect on the room temperature. 3. I found a small, sharp piece of metal (with my bare foot) in the carpet, that I could not identify or remove. 4. When the shower lever was activated, only about half of the water would go through the shower head, the rest continued to poor through the tap. The staff, however, were pleasant and professional, and courteous. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we would not be interested in paying regular price for the rooms. Les mer

We had no complaints about this hotel and loved the warm cookies upon arrival. We also appreciated the shuttle service for free to the airport. I would recommend this property.

I only used the hotel as a place to sleep the night before a conference in Portland, so I did not spend time anywhere besides my room, or use any of the amenities. My check in experience was great. Kurt (Curt?) at the desk was warm, clear and welcoming. He was terrific. When I exited the elevator to go to my room after checking in, the area smelled […] like someone had been smoking. This happened again when I came back later. There was no smell in my room though. The room was fine in terms of comfort, arrangement and having all the things I might need. On the negative side, the bedspread had a small stain or soiled area on it (which is a little creepy) and I could hear some intermittent noise from the rooms next to me. Once I had earplugs in, everything was fine and the bed was quite comfortable. Unfortunately, the Wolfgang Puck single brew cup of coffee was so awful that after the first sip I had to throw it away. The hotel is very close to mall, it is Not near downtown Portland. If you are wanting to visit or stay in Portland this is not the hotel for you. It was my first time in Maine and let me tell you that it was really beautiful I was around everything me and my family were so surprised if you are visiting Maine and want to be around the more urban/townsy side of town I suggest going to the Doubletree by Hilton

The bar & restaurant are understaffed. I won't blame long wait times, no service on staff, they were just having to serve more folks than they could.bed was not comfortable, sheets very scratchy.

Nice place. Overpriced. Wanted to eat in the evening but couldn't get attention of bartender so went elsewhere. Excellent breakfast buffet, but it should be complimentary.

Good value and suited our purpose. Recommend hotel remodel some areas like pool facility but overall comfortable stay with friendly and responsive staff.

We are used to a much higher quality from a Doubletree property. This is an old Wyndam and it has not been updated. The rooms are the same size as a Holiday Inn. There was no frig or microwave in the room or available anywhere. The closet was half size and only three drawers in the dresser. If you stay around here try the Hampton instead.

not worth the money they charge - everything was somewhat run down and the rooms were second rate - not very comfortable - on top of that I had ordered a King bed and got 2 queens.

The air conditioning system was very loud and either too warm or too cool in the room to the extent that it interfered with our sleep and we woke tired each morning. It blew really cold air when on and if we turned the temperature up - even to 72 F - it would actually blow heated air instead of allowing the room to heat up from lack of air conditioned […] air. Otherwise it would be a decent stop but due to this significant failure I would not spend another night there. The air system is not what was expected from this hotel line. Les mer

I was completely disappointed with this hotel. It was an old tired hotel that had been partially renovated with some paint, a granite countertop in the bathroom, and not much else. The lobby in the West building was AWFUL. Depressing, cold, empty, totally out-of-date and awful. Even the parking lot was falling apart. The only (ONLY) nice part of the […] hotel was the pool.
