Clarion Hotel Portland - Portland

the hotel is convenient but definitely a bit run down compared to the other 2 hotels I stayed at this week. It's torn around the edges, my windows were smudged and dirty, but it was totally functional as a hotel. Just compared to the other two I stayed in this week - it was a bit more depressing to stay there.

We encountered a barking dog on our floor. When I called the front desk the clerk was very short and before I could finish my reason for calling he responded "Yep I Know" and hung up on me. The place is not very private. We could hear the ppl in the room beside us just talking and the noise from the hallways was ridiculous. Conveniently located close to the airport. Room was clean with free wi-fi and comfortable bed. I would stay here again.

The Clarion is about 2 miles away from the bustle of downtown Portland, which meant that we had to drive to the Old Port and find parking, which actually wasn't that difficult. Our room was spotlessly clean, and although there weren't many cosmetic frills, the room had a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, which are often missing in much more […] expensive hotels. We paid half of what our other family members paid for similar rooms in the downtown historic district, but given the amenities that we did have, and the ease of parking downtown, as well as the short drive, I think we had by far the better deal! Nice pool area and restaurant. Meals were reasonably priced and food was good. There for business so I had no need to go anywhere else for breakfast or dinner. They do not serve lunch, however, other restaurants were close enough to get to. Desk staff responded quickly to my requests.

Loved the hotel.. great pool, very clean.. very polite staff.. WiFi wouldn't work in our room.. signal strength was good, but repeatedly disconnected.. The heater in our room wasn't working properly and I had to get up every hour or so to either turn off the heater as the temperature had climbed to over 80 degrees, or turn it back on when the temperature […] had dropped too low. Then staff was very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, location was perfect to the nearby attractions. The hotel itself was very clean, and upscale. Would DEFINATLY stay again!

We stayed in this hotel many times and like it a lot. This time, however, the heating system in our room # 117, was broken, made incredible noise every 15 minuted, and was very annoying. There was an error made and a surcharge was holding money from my account in error, however Don the Supervisor personally took care of the error and apologized as well as offered me a free night stay for my inconvenience. I am very satisfied will stay again. Thank You

The shuttle driver was amazing, he helped us shovel our car from the snow and gave us a ride towards the Seadog Brewery, which is an amazing brew-pub by the way. The Hot tub was a perfect way to wind-down after walking to explore nearby downtown Portland. My only complaint is that the bed was too soft and I'm more of a hard-bed kind of guy. For the price, it is quite good. The location was great and central. I appreciate free parking and free WIfi. However, the walls are thin and I could hear the people talk in the room next to mine. The cleanliness was not as expected from a hotel in my opinion. I would probably try another hotel if I had to go back to Portland

We needed hypo-allergenic pillows as we have allergies. The pillows were awful and provided no comfort. The tub was not as clean as it should have been.

Stayed at the Portland Clarion due to no vacancy in Old Port District. The Hotel was fine we don't go on vacation to hang out in or hotel room anyway. The only thing that was annoying was the heater it was loud and kicked on all night about every 20 minutes. This hotel was about 5-10 minute drive to Old Port but also half the price of the hotels in […] Old Port. I would stay there again but might think about going wheen you don't need the heat/ac, or bring some ear plugs. Les mer

Bed hadn't been changed! I ordered clean sheets and changed it myself. Gross! No soap and there was mold in shower. We stayed one night ONLY because it was very late. We ran out of there the next morning!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our weekend trip to Portland, while staying at the Clarion. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. This hotel has seen better days. From the elevator that got stuck with us in it (front desk just said "it has good days & bad days" when I told them about this) to the old carpets & bed spreads. Won't stay here next time.

The staff were friendly. I would not use a clarion again for the following reasons: No food places close by to grab a bite. Hotel food is often overpriced and sometimes you just want to grab something and go. Trash outside room 2 doors down the hall still there when we checked out in morning. I had hoped to stay closer to the Old Port area in town but couldn't find a room, so stayed at the Clarion instead. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff was very welcoming. This was a very pleasant stay.

It was a convenient stop on our way to northern Maine. Carpets in the hallways seemed to have not been vacuumed in a few days ( maybe cost saving item) but the price was great and the rooms were clean. We would stay there again. Dining options after 11 were very limited, but the local dominoes was fast and friendly!

Clean hotel, with easy access from highway and to downtown. Nice lobby with great staff. Affordable price; somewhat small bathroom. Apples in the lobby nice touch. Great breakfast service in the restaurant.

My hotel experience went something like this> After getting off at the Amtrak Station at the PTC I asked someone where Congress Street was. He asked what hotel I was going to and I responded the "Clarion." He then turned around and pointed to the white building, which was no more then 100 yards from the PTC. This hotel, at it turned out, was in perfect […] distance to the Amtrak and Coach Lines Station but not to much else. It was quite a walk to the downtown, which was made even worse by the very hot and even worse, humidity, during my stay. The hotel staff was very friendly, from the check-in counter to the house-keeping to the bartender. I enjoyed a swim or 2 in the pool and the overall atmosphere and cleanliness of the Clarion were excellent as was the cool temperature they kept the hotel at via the AC. I would recommend the hotel to anyone, unless you want to be in walking distance to the downtown area, which would be more accessible by car service or the city bus. Les mer
