The check in clerk was superb. He in fact is the definition of quality friendly service. The nightshift clerk not so much. I pittied the guests who came in when he was working.

Perfect location if visiting NWU. Great food choices nearby and easy 10 min walk to campus. Would definitely stay there again.

this Best Western was great in regard to convenience to Northwestern. Having breakfast included just makes things that much easier.The sheets on the bed were very comfy... A great stay.

Close to church that was leading the event. Near the EL. Walking distance to some good food and drink places.

I checked in fairly late at night so did not have time to use the amenities but what I saw was very nice and clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel was quiet and in a good location for visiting Northwestern or Loyola Universities. Parking in conveniently attached to the hotel. I would stay there again.

I have no complaints from my stay at the Best Western in Evanston. Very convenient location, close to the CTA and close to restaurants and bars. The hotel room was fine, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was probably the best highlight, very well stocked, great options and delicious waffles! I checked out very, very happy.

Very unsanitary! I found someone elses clothing in my room! The only great thing about it was the view other than that my experience was horrible. And the workers didn't do anything about it! I would not stay their again. If I were you I would pass and find something better and cleaner!

My stay was fine except that evidently there was a problem with the heater. I was greeted by a blast of hot air ... the unit was only at 68 degrees. I kept turning down the heater all the way to 50 degrees. In the morning, still hot, I shut the unit off. Mind you it was only in the lows 20s outside so the outside was not heating the room. Made for a […] fitful sleep. But the beds and pillows are comfortable. Would like more 'natural" food on the breakfast - not so much processed bread and rolls/muffins. But a nice stay none-the-less. We had a nice stay. You should not expect a five star or a brand new 3 star, this is a solid 3 star hotel. We were impressed by our housekeeping lady, how well she cleaned our room, made our beds, although we have never met her. She must have put a lot of thoughts on everything she does. Hotel is very very close to duke and a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. Staff is very helpful and was always there for me.

Room was fine, no problems there... But the train came by all night long. If you stay there make sure you try to get a room away from the tracks. Also, I specifically called ahead and requested adjoining rooms for my disabled father, and upon arrival, even though it clearly stated adjoining rooms on my receipt, they did not adjoin. An older hotel that is nicely maintained. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Breakfast was adequate if not extensive and the dining room was nice. the neighborhood was nice shops and restaurants, very safe seeming. About a five-block walk to the main campus or the lake. The location is in a very nice with many local restaurants within walking distance. It is close to the Dempster station on the L, and the loop is an easy ride from there.

The hotel was fine--no frills. Reception folks were nice enough. What was not very satisfying was the complimentary breakfast (no warm food unless you put something in the toaster), and weak wireless internet. We are parents of a Northwestern University Student, it is convenient to campus and very reasonably priced. The staff are always friendly and this was our third stay. The hotel is outdated, but clean. It is about half the price of the more upscale hotels in the area.

It is nearby to Chicago passenger trains (double deckers) that are load and the regular trains which are noisy, so, always try to get high in the building and low numbers, like 01 or 03 to get you in the back away from the tracks

The staff was the most helpful and friendliest and the hotel in general is in the top three best hotels of the hundreds that I have stayed. I scout for baseball and see a lot of hotel time so I know good from bad and you would be well served to stay at this particular hotel.

Work takes my to Northwestern several times a year, and this has become my favorite place to stay -- when I have to foot the bill. Best value for the dollar I have found in town.

There are reports of this hotel having bedbugs. Even when I was there I heard one customer complaining. This was obviously disturbing and caused me to take extra protection for my clothing, but I was unable to find any evidence of bedbugs. My room was very clean as was most of the hotel. Perhaps there are a few rooms that are less clean, request a room […] near the top floor. The hotel is nice and quiet at night with the exception of the train near by. The hotel is close to the Rail for easy travel in the city but you get to hear the loud trains in the morning. Its 14$ a day for parking even as a guest, not being from Chicago I find this crazy. The morning breakfast is pretty lacking. The price is not much different from the Hilton up the street, but the Hilton is much nicer. Les mer

Sometimes it's not the hotel itself but the staff that makes a stay comfortable and homey. In the regards to my recent stay at the University Plaza I'd say this was the case. From checking in to extending my stay and checking out the staff was attentive and friendly and on that I can recommend this hotel.

The staff attempted to be very accomidating. We were unique in that we were traveling with two small infants and though the rooms do not come with refrigerators, they were able to place one in our room. Sadly the first never got cold and all of my breast milk had to be thrown out, but they replaced it on the second day of our stay and it was efficient. […] The building is old, which is charming but not always practical. There was no enterance without stairs. I had to roll my stroller though the parking garage in order to enter the first night due to incorrect information given by the front desk attendant. The room was small (very cramped with two cribs) but I am certain that a smaller family would have been fine with the size. There were many issues with us receiving the appropriate number of towels and my husband frequently had to track down towels, though we learned by the second day of our stay that if you talk to the housekeepers they will keep you stocked. The room was clean and the staff was pleasant. I was surprised the number of times the front desk people watched as I struggled getting through the front door with a double stroller instead of holding a door for me, but I assume that its a safety issue for them. Our bathroom was itty bitty, the toilet and faucet leaked, the water was "warm" at best and there was no water pressure. Overall though the hotel was nice, the breakfast was ok and the facilities were acceptable. Les mer

The hotel could use a good make-over as it definitely shows its age. The bathroom had numerous cracks in the tile and shower area. the bathroom sink was inches away from coming off the counter. The parking area was dark, dirty and quite frankly dangerous as you have to walk down dark stairways just to get to the lobby. Stayed here for a college reunion/homecoming weekend. The location was a very walkable distance to Northwestern's campus and near stores & restaurants in Evanston. Location aside, this hotel offers very little beyond the very pleasant, accommodating staff. Water dribbles our of the shower, the room decor is dated & worn, wi-fi did not work and the train […] keeps you awake all night long! Ugh! Once was more than enough for me. Les mer

No refrigerators, terrible cots. We were promised a refrigerator for the room when we called 2 days ahead of our stay, then again the day of check-in, but then were told no refrigerator was available AFTER we had gone grocery shopping. Neither the clerk nor the manager offered to bring extra ice to the room, and they refused to store our perishables […] in the kitchen or staff refrigerator. The rollaway cot was unsleepable, even when we put the mattress directly on the floor. On the up side, the manager did take the price of the rollaway off our bill for our troubles. Also, the continental breakfast was well stocked and kept up through the 4 hour serving period, and the kitchen staff were very helpful. Clean rooms, though worn chairs and carpet.
