This hotel is in a GREAT location, just a couple blocks from most of the historic sites in Philly. Also, the staff were very helpful and courteous. Overall, it was a very positive stay.

Booked this room for a conference at the Convention Center. I could walk the distance (1mile or so) or hop a 5 dollar cab ride. More importantly everything that I hoped to do, and everywhere that I hoped to go was just a few blocks this way or that. Nothing fabulous about the room, and nothing negative worth remembering. The biggest payoff was the location […] and the value compared to other area hotels. I did use the gym two mornings and it had exactly what I needed and nothing more (treadmill-dumbells, clean towels). Les mer

Great location.very friendly staff. Very nice for Holiday Inn and I would stay again. The only annoyance was that there was no small light next to my bed and I was sharing a room so it made reading etc when waking up tricky. This was a convenient hotel to stay at to see many historic sites in the area on foot. The hotel itself was clean and the staff was pleasant. The restaurant in it was only for breakfast for us, but the food was tasty. If I had to complain about something it would be that there is no included complementary parking and the parking next to the hotel is […] in a deck and not cheap. we've stayed here twice now. The hotel is perfectly fine for a short stay--nothing great but clean and comfortable. The room temperature is my only complaint--the thermostat just doesn't seem to work and the temp varies from too cold to way too hot. Don't bother with the restaurant either--ridiculously priced. BUT, what a great location and really easy […] parking. Amazing neighborhood with many excellent dining and shopping choices--not to mention the museums etc. Les mer

Excellent location for visiting the historic sites. In general the hotel was clean and well maintained. The heater/air conditioner was the old style mounted to the wall under the window - very difficult to get a reasonable temperature, either too hot or too cold and very loud compared to central systems. Restaurant not open on Saturday night and the […] surrounding neighborhood did not look safe to be walking around in at night so the bar was the only option. It was OK but not much to chose from on the menu. Overall, not bad for the price and location. Les mer

First Impressiion of our room was it was a bit undermaintained, physically But it was clean and room service was available and friendly. Our biggest complaint is the noise from the street was annoying. Please install better windows to keep all the noise to a minimum since philly is awake all night long. The hotel is located in a great location - 2 blocks from the Visitors Center. The personnel were very informative and friendly. The room was very nice and clean. If I were to stay again in Philadelphia I would stay at the Holiday Inn in the Historic District.

we wanted to be in the historic district and this was perfect. easy walking distance to many of the sights, interesting area in general. would definitely stay here again when visiting Philadelphia.

Hotel was a typical Holiday Inn. I think the rate was a little steep for the quality of the hotel. It was clean and very convenient to tourist attractions.

front desk personnel was THE BEST - really, really helpful. Room was just as expected. Location was good for walking to historic sites but without shops and cafes in the near area. It was just right for traveling with an 11 year old boy.

Other than being in the shower when the the fire alarm went off, or the poor internet reception so I couldn't Skype, or the musty smell (probably caused by the lack of a powered vent in the bathroom), it wasn't too bad. The fire station was just next door so the inconvenience the occasional siren was offset by the fact that they could walk over during […] the alarm! The staff did not have a list of local alternatives to their expensive in-house dining but there were a number of decent places nearby. Hotels.com said the parking was $20/day when it was really $25 but they honored that price. Let's face it, we wanted someplace walking distance to the historic district and this filled the bill without bedbugs at less than some others. P.S. the midtown has the continental breakfast, not the historic district. Les mer

If you want to be close to everything in historic Philly this place is perfect. Walking distance to cool bars and restaurants, the wharf, the famous Benjamin Franklin burial site, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Old City Tavern and much more!! Perfect for walking and seeing sites! Recommend for sure!

This hotel was great. 1 block to east is the whole historic district. 1 block to the west is Ben Franklin court and Betsy Ross house. Staff were wonderful and very helpful. Room was comfortable and when we wanted to switch to a king room the hotel was happy to let us. The only problem was the restaurant. It was staffed by some helpful people and some […] that could have cared less. The policies about charges (for morning coffee and kids menu) varied dependent on who you talked to. Food was also marginal and on expensive side. We found many locally owned restaurants within a block or two which were good and friendly. Some restaurants on Market St. a bit pricey for dinner but a great value for lunch. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Can't beat the location for people visiting the historic sites of Philly - we walked everywhere but the airport! Les mer

This hotel is perfect for visitors to the area wanting to see the historical sites in the Old City area of Philly. The Independence park complex is literally around the corner. The river front is an easy walk away. There is a great deal of variety for dining in the surrounding neighborhoods. The facility itself is in great condition. The staff is very […] helpful. The adjoining parking was reasonably priced. The only drawback, as is pointed out in other reviews, is the fire station on the corner across from the hotel. That said, we stayed in a room at that corner of the building and the occasional fire truck siren was never a significant disturbance. When you consider the price, this hotel is an excellent deal! Overall our stay was pleasant. We crashed and stayed in on the first night and ordered room service. The food was not satisfying (bar food on the menu for the most part, the fries were soft and tepid) but we washed it down with wine. The next day, breakfast was horrific. The room was packed and most of the empty tables had not been cleared. We went […] to the buffet ... nothing much for the cholesterol wary folks, we picked up cereal, oatmeal, and coffee (they give you a pot, we were expecting 1 cup each) our bill totaled $18!. After our day outing, we went to the pool which was nice but of course children and tweens running amuck without supervision. Luckily it was dinner time because they cleared out. The ice machine was broken on our floor and the soda machine ate a round of $ so I got two out of three waters. The room was very clean and comfortable and they honored the old parking rate ($20) when I showed the confirmation. It's now $25 a day. The proximity to the places was good and public transportation is great, just bring snacks to nosh on at the hotel. Les mer

Easy access from Interstate 95; excellent location in Historic District; 10-15 min. walk to downtown; comfortable, clean, renovated rooms.

The only drawback to this hotel is that there's a fire station at the end of the block. It's a nice hotel, very convenient to the subway, many area attractions and a great part of town for a leisurely walk even late at night. It's a modern place in a part of town that's all beautiful old buildings. In fact Benjamin Franklin's final resting place is […] just around the corner. Les mer

We chose to stay a night in Philly on our way between six nights in NYC and five nights in Atlantic City, but our experience of this hotel was disappointing. First of all we arrived at 11am hoping to check in. We were told our room wasn't ready and that we couldn't check in until 4pm. We were allowed to leave our suitcases with the concierge and retrieve […] them later when checking in. We then asked if we could sit by the pool and sunbathe for the afternoon until our room was ready and the lady at reception refused our request! Very poor customer service in my opinion. There was no obvious reference on our hotels.com booking that we couldn't check in until late afternoon. So we had to wander round Philly for five hours until our room was ready! Then our room key card wouldn't work and we had to get a cleaner to let us in. Later the hotel re-processed the key cards but they still didn't work and one of the hotel employees said that that particular room had had key problems for a few days. When we couldn't get in for a second time I used the house phone on the corridor outside the lifts to ring reception to inform them that the problem remained. They asked me to come down to reception to get the key re-processed. I said that I'd already done that once and I wasn't going to do it again. The concierge came up and let us in and then half an hour or so later an engineer came up and fixed it for us. The hotel is located directly across the road from a fire station and the engines come out of the station with sirens blaring until late at night. Awesome. Final problem: we prepaid the hotel bill when booking with hotels.com and on arrival at the hotel we were asked to provide a credit card for 'incidentals'. On check-out the hotel assured us that the credit card swiped for incidentals wouldn't be charged the room rate. But, lo and behold, two days later it had been charged to the card. I'm now in the process of trying to recoup that money. Les mer

This is a perfectly fine property - not amazing, but not bad - in a GREAT location if you want to see the major sights. It's walking distance to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center, the Jewish Museum, and Chinatown. The staff is very friendly.

My stay in Philadelphia was very nice. The hotel staff were very friendly. The room was nice and clean. The hotel was close to all the must-see sights. We checked out at 10 a.m. and could leave our car in the parking garage until 5 p.m. while we toured the city. Excellent stay and would highly recommend to family and friends.
