Disney's Port Orleans Riverside - Lake Buena Vista

We've just returned from another delightful stay at Port Orleans Riverside. This may be our favorite Disney resort hotel--we've stayed here several times. I think our room was recently rennovated, and was just lovely and very clean. The grounds surrounding the hotel were in full spring beauty. They are now featuring a movie on the lawn in the evenings […] which is a nice addition. Great pricing from Hotels.com, and we used our free night this stay. The only drawback I can think of is dining selections for adults--while the restaurant and cafeteria on site are good for families, you may grow tired of the menu selection after a couple days. You'll have to hop on a bus to downtown disney, or drive off the property to find some other choices. Les mer

First time in this hotel, and it was a great choice. Didn't have the chance to use all the facilities as it was a weekend getaway to enjoy the attractions. Is conveniently located, you can use the bus or your vehicle (show your room key at the entrance and parking is free) and also enjoyed the "magic hours". We loved the hotel. Rooms are not huge but we weren't in our room a whole lot. Room was very clean and decorated nicely. What we liked most was the easy access to the bus depots for Disney parks, 4 depots for the riverside hotel, So not a far walk to any. Buses ran every 20 minutes and only picked up form the Port Orleans hotel. Just a short walk to […] Lobby, store and dining. Beautiful grounds-with the river and bridges. There is a free Boat ride to Downtown, bike rentals and horse drawn carriage rides. Nice just to walk around if you have a free afternoon. Lots of poolside activities. We enjoyed staying at the Port Oleans Riverside hotel. Very comfortable bed, clean room. The grounds were very well kept and beautiful. They offer an outside movie every night and a boat ride to Down Town Disney at night also.. I recommend staying at this hotel.

My wife and I took our five year old grandson to Disney World for 3 full days. We were delighted with every aspect of our stay, including our hotel, Port Orleans Riverside. We were also once again pleased with the ease of arrangements provided by Hotel.com. They helped select the hotel based on our description and it proved to be right on!

We went to Port Orleans on March 3, the grounds of the Hotel were beautiful. There was nice shade trees everywhere but that came with a downside because the pools were filled with oak pollen...kind of yucky when it stuck to you during swimming. The restaraunts served great food and the staff went above and beyond to accomidate us. The kids LOVED the […] game room. The one low point was when we got to our room upon check in the maids were STILL in the process of cleaning it...the front desk should have assigned us another room if they weren't ready. All and all it was a "nice" hotel but there are better hotels for the same cost at Disney World. Les mer

The disney hotel was nice but there were maint issues in the building where our room was. They had had trouble with rooms in the building for the last 4 nights I was told by the fire fighter who was sent out along with the maint people. The problem was a loud moaning noise that we thought was comming from the room next to us. The noise was better if […] you flushed the toilet. So for hours they maint people kept flushing the toilet. I saw the men outside the room when I was waiting for them to come and you could hear it loud outside the room area and down the hall. I am mad because they knew there was a problem for the last 4 nighst and they contine to put guests in that area.They never came to out room like ask or called the problem was still not fixed . I went to sleep after 1 a.m. but was awoke in the night from the noises again. Aparently there was a problem with the water heater and the shower was was not hot when we went to take a shower. Everything about our stay - location, room, staff, service, amenities, pool, etc were all very good. Clean, comfortable room. Average but pricy food was our only noticeable downside.

Had a fantastic time at the Port Orleans-Riverside. The renovated room was perfect, and the property grounds are beautifully maintained. The boat shuttle to Downtown Disney was very convenient, and the Disney bus transportation system to the Magic Kingdo, Epcot, etc worked very well. We never had to wait anymore than 20 minutes for a bus to show up. […] We had a great time, and will definitely stay at this property again. iti's always great 'staying inside wdw park. WDW bus service is convenient. However the rooms (behind lobby) really need a makeover--0ld and dated

After a hectic, busy, noisy day at Disney it is so relaxing to come to Port Leans Riverside. It is quiet. The walk to the restaurants is like walking through a quiet forest. The rooms are very comfortable and the maid service is excellent. The perfect end to a busy day.

...but would rather be closer to parks, the Port Orleans is beautiful and spacious, but travel time and proximity to parks was not the best.

I recently stayed the weekend at this resort. I had a room on the ground floor of one of the mansions. The first morning, I was woken up by the conversation being had by people in the room next door. I could hear every single word with perfect clarity. This went on for almost 20 minutes, and needless to say, was not the most pleasant way to wake up […] 3 hours before scheduled. We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside for the Disney Half-Marathon/Marathon weekend. The facility is totally wonderful and I would highly recommend it to anyone NOT running the Half Marathon or to anyone NOT ON marathon weekend!! If you're not a runner, the loud speakers will wake you up at 5AM because you can hear them from the start line. If you […] ARE a runner, don't stay there!! The transportation to the start line was abysmal!!! We were late getting to the start because we were in traffic for an hour after they picked us up at Port Orleans (and it took the shuttle about 20 minutes to pick us up to start with). Took my daughter and my wife for three days at Disney. Port Orleans was perfect for our needs. We don't spend a lot of time on the resort property but everything we needed was a short walk from where we were staying. The room rate was surprisingly affordable considering we were staying just days before Christmas. the property wasn't crowded and transportation […] to and from the properties was more than convenient. Overall a good hotel, but very remote. No room service and restaurants on site close early. There was no pizza delivery to room either due to the layout of the rooms. I did leave my shoes in the room after checkout and they graciously shipped them to me at their cost. Do you research and find a room that meets your family's needs.

We stayed two nights here while park-hopping. The cafeteria style restaurant was good and access to the buses was convenient.

This hotel is not worth the money for the rooms that have not been remodeled... do yourself a favor and wait to book this hotel until all the rooms have been updated.

Beautiful resort, probably out favorite moderate resort at WDW. This is a large sprawling resort with lots of room to walk around and enjoy the magnificent Disney landscaping along with a few really neat bridges. We had an excellent stay our room was newly renovated and it was a pleasureable stay. I would highly recommend the facility.

I have been coming to Epcot/Disney for years but this was my first stay at a Disney on-site resort. I was very impressed with the activities and convenience of the resort. There are enough activities on premise to keep the kids happy without even going to the parks. Beds were not comfortable. For price should have been better. Great for the kids and Grandkids. Transportation to theme parks was good. Food not great but as expected.

This Disney hotel is close to everything. Using Disney transportation is great. Our room was not quite up to the standard we expect from Disney. The furnishings are starting to look very worn. Rug and tables were in serious need of a thorough cleaning. Check in took almost 45 minutes because the hostess kept spelling our name wrong and had to get someone […] on the phone to allow her to put us in the room we had requested. We left this hotel feeling most satisfied, happy and blessed. Loved the location, the overall feel of the Hotel and enjoyed the gardens, restaurant and atmosphere. We would recommend this hotel to all of our family, friends and neighbours.

Check in went smoothly. All of the employees were friendly. The hotel met or exceeded our expectations.

Having the Disney amenities was nice, but probably the least enjoyable stay I've had in a Disney resort.

Long walk to all rooms. Long. long walk to pool. Long, Long, Long walk to bus stop! We had a problem with our tickets to WDW from hotel and they did not handle it well.

First time staying at Riverside. We stayed at French quarter last time and it was nice. These two resorts have a walking path on the river which is fun for jogging. The Riverside is bigger and has restaraunt. There are two sides the mansions and the cabins. We stayed in the mansions.

Port Orleans Riverside is a great stay. I have stayed in several parts of this expansive resort, and each carries its own character with charm. We appreciated the roomy double sink area outside of the bathroom, and our 3rd floor room that faced a fountains, a rose garden, and the Sassagoula River. We also appreciated how close we were Magic Kingdom, […] EPCOT, & Hollywood Studios. The bus rides there were shorter than at other Disney resorts. The boat to Downtown Disney had a long wait (40 minutes to get on) the night we took it, but it is a beautiful and quick ride. The bus would probably have been faster. Due to the expansiveness of this resort, it has four bus stops. Your bus will stop at all four. This can be annoying if you are trying to get somewhere on time or are arriving back late at night and just want to get to your room. *Important* If you arrive late at night to check in, and there appears to be no one in the lobby to check you in, there is a bell towards the far end of the lobby that alerts the night desk people to come out and serve you. The bell and sign are very hard to see from the lobby's entrance. Don't resort to sleeping on the lobby's couches! Someone is there to help you promptly once you ring the bell. Riverside was very relaxing, quiet, and beautiful. We enjoyed soaking our feet in the hot tub at night near the main pool, and all the little bridges that crossed the river. It was one of the cheapest moderate resorts when we went, but I think it is far nicer in ambiance than most of the other moderate resorts. Well worth the deal! Les mer

Nice area and surrounding, however the bedding was not good at all…, I don't think I would stay again!

Hotel Grounds & Room: The hotel is a bit outdated and is in need of a renewal. Riverside is located on massive (as illustrated by the fact that there are 4 stops for this hotel alone that the Disney buses service) but extremely picturesque grounds. Very tranquil and serene surroundings. Location & Convenience to Parks: Transportation on the aforesaid […] buses to the various parks was very convenient. The buses themselves said that each stop was serviced at approximately 20 minute intervals but I think that service was probably more frequent than that. Closest to Downtown Disney and Epcot. Due to the size of Riverside, the line-ups at the transportation stops were always longest for this resort but upon seeing the lengthy lines, Disney personnel made sure that multiple buses were made available. Food: Decent selection and pricing (given that you're at Disney). Pasta, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, fried chicken fingers were available for lunch and dinner. Pancakes, waffles, yogurt and fruit were available for breakfast. Service: Employees were very helpful and friendly although it is obvious that they have varying degrees of knowledge about the park. The lady we spoke to at registration when the concierge desk was closed told us that there was no alternative to taxis if we want to leave the premises and go to, for example, Universal Studios. This was the case even though I specifically mentioned how I had used Mears the previous time I was at Disney. The concierge however, was very knowledgeable and helped us make our arrangements. Also, we had a bit of a mix-up with our pizza order. We had ordered a large pepperoni pizza and didn't check before paying. We told the cashier (an elderly lady) that it was pepperoni only to eventually find out that it was a cheese pizza. We asked if we could just be refunded for the difference but I suppose that she just didn't know how so she told us that it would be faster to go and just get another pepperoni pizza! This property is very large and we followed a Trip Advisor review and asked for a room close to reception. Only the pizza counter is open when you arrive late - food is very ordinary and expensive. Main dining room is also overpriced and ordinary. In its favour, US Airways has a desk at the hotel for pax travelling and it is possible to check your bags […] in at the hotel, for a flight. Good service, also the Disney Magical Express from the airport to hotel, free. Les mer

The room itself was quaint, decor-wise but it was worn - scuff marks on the furniture and paint, etc. Upon check in , pillows were missing from the bed and the comforter was in disarray so it looked like someone was already in the room when I got there. There was trash on the floor and one of the drinking glasses was dirty. Positives - it was quiet, […] the bed was comfortable and there was refrigerator in the room. I didn't really mind it, but it wasn't all that clean. If it had been completely clean I would have given it 4 star ratings instead of 3. Les mer

Enjoyed the Port Orleans during a business trip. Very nice grounds, and nice acces via boat to Downtown disney. A notable missing amenity is a fitness room, though - a hotel this nice should at least have a minimal facility.
