Jeg har brukt dette hotellet flere ganger, og det er pent og rent, ryddig, hyggelig betjening, gode og store rom, internett fungerer bra, en litt tynn frokost er inkludert i prisen. Meget god beliggenhet.

Hotellet er blant de historiske hotellene i San Francisco, dvs. at innredninger og interiører er holdt i en gammel stil, for de som liker dette, gir det en god atmosfære, rommet jeg hadde var meget stort og rommelig, god internett forbindelse, og alt annet fungerer bra.

skummelt strøk med MASSE uteliggere - var ikke redd men VELDIG obs på folk rundt meg...mest var det bare ekkelt... selve hotellet....vel, rommet hadde ikke kjøleskap, internettet funket SÅVIDT i hotellrommet, men med mindre man aksepterer 4-5 min på en vanlig webside å laste opp må man ned i resepsjonen...det luktet mugg på badet, og det var ikke helt […] den standarden vi forventet...håntak til dusjen var f.eks. løs....det var heller ikke air conditioning, så detvar klamt på rommet,.... "baren" var kun åpen man-tors, og rare tider....det var ikke restaurant, men en liten kiosk nede i resepsjonen... dyrt for det vi fikk, og ikke noen severdigheter i området....måtte LANGT....ikke det vi forventet når det stod at det var nærme turisstattraksoner.... Hotellet er relativt gammelt, men hvis man ikke er er ute etter å betale mer enn nødvendig, er det helt ok standard - noen ville til og med si koselig. Gode senger, tilfredsstillende renhold og generelt god service. Perfekt beliggenhet i krysset Market/Powell, der hvor Cable Car snur i Powell. Ypperlig utgangspunkt for shopping. Kjempestort pluss for […] tiltaket med "get together"-happening hver ettermiddag 17:00-18:30, med snacks/grønnsaksbuffet og bar - gratis!. En glimrende anledning til å bli kjent med andre gjester på hotellet. OBS! Skal du kjøre cable car? Ikke still deg i køen ved snuplassen hvis den går helt rundt plassen, da går du heller 200m oppover Powell og hopper på på første eller andre stoppeplass, der er det sjelden kø. Dette er et enkelt og rimelig hotel. Ikke luksus. Hotellet ligger inntil Market Street, helt sentralt i handleområdet i SF, nær mange severdigheter og gode kommunikasjoner. Prisen på overnatting er rimelig. For den som skal ha et lavpristilbud midt i sentrum, er dette et meget godt tilbud.

I hjertet av San Fran, t-banestasjon og cabel-car rett utenfor døra, meget enkelt og effektivt. Relativt billig i forhold til nærliggende hoteller og beliggenheten. Oppusset og fance fasade og inngang/lobby, men hotellrommene noe mer slitne. Likevel mer enn bra og rent nok. The hotel had a really good location and was pretty decent. We had a pretty loud group on our floor and the walls are paper thin. Service was good.

If it's convenience to the heart of SF you're looking for, you can't beat The Powell. It's at the end of the cable car line, across from the Westfield Shopping Center, short walking distance to Union Square and close to Metro & Bart lines. There are tons of restaurants close by. The rate and location override the age of the property. It's old and dark, […] but clean, and the old doors slam really loudly. These facts do not deter from a pleasant stay. This place is not fancy or elegant but it is competely fine for a trip to a busy city. Les mer

Can't ask for a better deal, 110$ for a small but nice room (no a/c though) on the corner of Market and Powell...

This hotel is right next to the cable car hub and in the middle of shopping lover's heaven. The hotel is older but renovated with a lot of character. The rooms aren't fancy, but if you're in the middle of downtown SF, I highly doubt you'll be spending a lot of time in your room. The walls are thin, so if you're a light sleeper, good luck. Price was great for this gem located downtown right in the middle of all the shopping you can handle. The Powell St. trolley car turnabout is right outside of the main entrance and stays packed full of tourist looking to ride or take pictures. Plenty of places to eat and bars within a 5 minute walk of the hotel and the hotel itself has a small deli […] with soups and sandwiches to go. Very courteous staff on hand and if you run into David working the front desk he is sure to take care of your every need. The only issue I had with the room was the mold around the bathroom window. Definitely will stay again when in San Francisco. Les mer

Definitely an older piece of sf history. Something's were great like the service and location, but don't expect good water pressure from the showers. Overall it was a great stay would stay there again if I could get the same great rate per night

Can't beat the location, right beside BART station for easy access to/from SFO. Cable car turnaround outside the door and Union Square 2 blocks away. We arrived very late on our first night, and had a noisy room on the 2nd floor. Front desk staff very friendly and arranged for a move to a quiet room on 5th floor for remainder of our stay. Complimentary […] breakfast and evening cocktail hour made nice bookends to our days. Older hotel with smaller rooms but great rates, you have to give and take. Overall a great deal if you are planning on spending most of your time touring the city. Les mer

Only offers valet parking, convenient location (right on market), had a corner room with a nice view but water pipe outside of the room clanged against the wall every time someone showered or flushed the toilet in the room above ours. Stays include continental breakfast and a happy hour. Room was clean but it did not have central heating, had to request […] a space heater as one of the nights of our stay dropped into the low 30's. Excellent location, room clean and all basics provided. However, bedding featured an annoying plastic base sheet and the top blanket was thin - I had to request an extra after a very poor night's sleep. Overall our stay was good but note that the included breakfast is only pastries and small muffins - no cereal.

The hotel has very historic feel with original stair railing, windows, high ceilings. It was classic San Francisco which is what we wanted, but it was not as nice as the pictures and price would suggest. We were comfortable and it was clean enough, but it was definitely a couple notches up from a motel. I know this, because if we had spent $20 more, […] we could have stayed somewhere really nice. They advertised free continental breakfast, but when we arrived in the lobby about 40 minutes before breakfast were to end, there were 20 people waiting for coffee and food, because they had run out of it all. After 15 minutes, a staff member came running in with some pre-packaged danishes. So we skipped it and went out from breakfast instead. I would still recommend this place because we were comfortable and the location is good, but I would advise to wait until the price was low. Les mer

Small room but very clean. I have to pay $33plus tax for valet parking. I think it was very convenience since we did not have to find parking in union area.

The Hotel is in a great location. The building is old and should be renovated to update rooms. Rooms need more electrical outlets and an extra floor lamp. Cute retro hotel built in 1908 and feels like it with some modern touch up. The staff was great! Room was clean and bed was good enough. Our room was 5th floor up from trolly turn around. So we did hear the trolly start dinging at 7am but lived next to railroad for yrs so no biggie. But when the band started playing and the clown horn and microphone […] guy preaching it was time to get up. But hey wasn't in the city to sleep. W knew nothing of San Francisco before we went but were glad we chose the Powell. We wanted to stay somewhere with access to transportation and restaurants because we weren't going to have a car. We could walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown , the Coit tower and the Embarcadero. Numerous bus rotes went nearby on Market St, so wehad to transfer only […] once. Despite the fact that the cable car route was just outside the hotel entrance, it was quiet in the hotel, Enjoyed the evening hospitality hour. parking nightmare with a fee. takes about 30 mins to have valet bring your car up. call the front desk in advance before leaving. conversely, the location is great for public transportation, which San Francisco is great at!

This site is at the heart of San Francisco, at the coolest section of Market Street. The main cable car stop is just a few feet away, and the city's best shopping is all around, including Rasputin, a 5-floor record store. Many busses and streetcars pass really close to here, so it's extremely easy to get around. Leave your car at home. One tradeoff […] is this: in San Francisco, the best air conditioning/ventilation is simply opening the window, but when you do, there will be some street noise. That's just city life, this isn't a remote chateau, so please bear that in mind. The Powell Hotel is a great place for active travellers who want to see as much as possible. This hotel is a very nicely remodeled retro building. The rooms are clean and comfy. Bathrooms are larger than other similar SF hotels. I honestly enjoyed happy hour in the evenings. I've stayed here a few times, and this will be my first choice again in the future. Les mer

I've stayed at this hotel a few times before, although each time it's been under different management. It was a clean room, spartan, yet comfortable. Bathroom was sparkling clean and had standard amenities. The staff were polite and helpful. There is no in-room programmable safe, so if you've got a laptop you'll want to take it with you or check it […] at the front desk. Also, because the hotel faces Powell Street, the front rooms tend to be noisier because the trolley turns around right there. The pluses: really nice staff and a fantastic location, right by the Cable Car turnaround where Powell hits market. The minuses: police sirens and very urban city noise at night (no soundproofing). If they'd just put an extra blanket in the closet I would have been really comfy. This hotel is more than 100 years old and it's history is pretty interesting. […] If you'd rather not stay at a cookie-cutter chain hotel and you don't mind a bit of city noise at night, then I can recommend The Powell wholeheartedly. I stayed at the Powell for one night for a staycation in the city to celebrate a friends birthday. It is in a convenient neighborhood close to all kinds of shops and restaurants. The valet parking was a bit awkward as there are only one or two white curbs to park on and if you park in the yellow for just a short time, there is a great chance of being […] ticketed. The lobby is very clean and modern-exactly what you would expect from a boutique type hotel. It has old charm that has been revamped a bit and nicely updated. Our room was on the 4th floor and once you get into the elevator, the hotel has the feel of an apartment building which I kind of liked. I would say the only downfall was the size of the room-and that is mainly because both of us are very tall people so it felt a bit cramped. It was clean, and for the price, it worked perfectly for our one night stay but I think if it had been an extended stay, we would have needed another option. Overall I would say the hotel was convenient and worked on our budget. It's a great alternative to the high priced name brand type hotels in the city. Les mer

This hotel is in a great location. The hotel staff was very accommodating and allowed me to check in early. The room was pretty small, but it worked fine for my one night stay. The room was clean. The hotel dates back to 1908, so just keep that in mind if you're looking for something more modern. My bathroom just had a pedestal sink, which made it a […] little difficult to set toiletries down. My biggest complaint would be the fact that I was awakened at 2:30 in the morning due to noisy neighbors - but this could happen anywhere I guess! If I visit San Francisco again, I may spend the extra $20 - $30 and see what that gets me. Les mer

Overall, it was OK. Nothing really to brag about....considering at the time of stay reviews for cheaper rooms were scary. The room I stayed in was tiny. Also, you could tell the hotel had seen better days. The closet doors were falling off, dings on the walls, and because of the age of the building the water took forever to heat up when you wanted to […] shower.
