Wife and I stayed here as a treat at the end of a camping trip, and we were really impressed! Such a beautiful place, very clean, lots of pools and places to lay around.

We only stayed one night before we went to our north resort, but we enjoyed our stay, especially breakfast on the terrace.

Loved this hotel and thought it was a superb value for the money. The pool waterfalls and 30 second walk to the beach, in addition to the central location to the north and south shores of Kauai, make this a very appealing resort. Just wish they didn't charge for internet in your room - WiFi is thankfully free in the lobby. The hotel was comfortable and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. There are 2 pools with chairs always available.

We felt comfortable during our 1-night stay. Our two <10yr old kids really enjoyed the 5+ nice pools. The adjacent beach areas were not suitable for most due to rocks and currents. The room was well appointed and beds were comfortable. On-site restaurants were nice but pricey. Overall service and food quality/flavor was good and ambience was nice (overlooking […] gardens and pool). We enjoyed a nice dinner and breakfast buffet. Service and front desk were friendly. Improvement opportunities: Self-parking fee/nt. The cleaning staff could have done a better job on the shower -we found tangled mass of wet hair on the tiles, left behind after cleaning. Small but comfortable rooms. Microwave and prep sink available in common lounge area. Loved the Plantation style layout and feel. Great breakfast buffet. Lovely staff- especially house keeping. Ammenities wee wonderful. Beach very close by and walkable. Would definitely stay again at the price we got for hotel room and breakfast package.

We enjoyed our stay, the resort is just that - a fine place to stay if you just want to stay or have kids. However, we wanted to see Hanalei & Poipu and there was no transport to other locations except by taxi. The whole problem would be solved if there was daily public or hotel supplied transport to the north &/or south. A tour doesn't make up for […] the feeling of isolation despite being near the mall. Kauai Beach Resort may have once been a destination hotel but with all the other choices now on the island this is a resort that is clearly past it's prime. The hotel pool is fun with a water slide but the resort charges you for every little item including parking - that is so 1980s. It's fine if your just looking for a place to stay one night before […] you check in to your condo but if your planning on spending time on Kauai there are much better choices. Les mer

Let me first say that we truly liked this hotel. The staff was very friendly and the location was convenient for driving around the island. However, contrary to other reviews, we did hear quite a bit of airport noise--several planes take off in the 6am-7am range and also after 10pm. The pool area was a little rundown. In places we could see that black […] weed-blocker tarp under the sand. The beach out front is not suitable for swimming, so it would have been nice if the pool was in better condition. I only stayed here one night, but I was very pleased with the staff. Clean room. Close to the Lihue airport. Nice location. Quiet area. Away from main road. Beach not the best for snorkeling or swimming, but the pool is nice. Well kept grounds. Again, I only stayed here one night, but it was perfect. No complaints.

The pool area was outstanding and beautiful. We only stayed one night but well worth the money. We sat around the bar by the pool and Leroy had several suggestions for local flavor. All his suggestions have been spot on. For this reason, I would highly recommend staying here. Great experience!

This hotel had everything at a reasonable price. Comfortable beds and pillows, reasonable food at the restaurant, nice surroundings. The only thing that this hotel needs to do is put in a new elevator - one didn't work, and the other was ridiculously slow.

We loved this hotel and thought for a place so conveniently located near the airport, which usually translates to a less-than-stellar facility, we were pleasantly surprised on nearly all accounts. The decor is great, the beds are comfortable, the staff is exceptionally friendly, and the pool area is roomy and charming. The only drawbacks were the sluggish […] elevator, the so-so food in the bar area (not horrible, but not inspiring either) and the distant parking on the other side of a parking lot that had a few drainage problems when a sudden rainstorm happened. This meant walking through a lot of water! They do have Valet and other options of getting around this, but we chose to do things the hard way.. We also loved that when we asked about a late check-out, (after their usual NOON check-out time, which was great within itself!) they had options of paying a small surcharge for an additional hour. This was incredibly helpful when we had a mid-afternoon flight and didn't feel like sitting around in the airport. Les mer

Staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. Althoughthe hotel is not in the most convenient location without a vehicle, the hotel has a free shuttle to the airport and a shopping center where you can catch a local busline that will take you anywhere on the island.

Coming from the Kauai Marriot, an exceptional property, we had to scale down our expectations some. However, someone at the Kauai Beach Resort gave us one of the two, best-situated rooms, right in front of the ocean. For the price, this is a great deal. My only knock is the place could use a little TLC on the grounds and buildings - fresh paint, reseeded […] grass, etc. Also, the pools were freezing, and for some reason during a storm the dining room was closed for lunch, with the only option being the lounge with a two-item menu. Nice hotel all by itself and close to the airport, Lihue, and Kapaa. Very central for the east side of the island. The staff was very helpful, rooms were nice and clean, the restaurant was good, and the grounds are nice with several pools and hot tubs. An overall great stay in Feburary. We got married in Kapaa and spent our honeymoon in a condo for […] 2 weeks. Our last night at our condo got double-booked so we went on a hunt for a hotel and found the Kauai Beach Resort to be ideal. We booked through Hotels.com and got great deal with a partial ocean view and free breakfast for two. Checkin is late 4pm which was tough since we had to leave our condo at 10 am. We tried to check in early at noon and were denied. We came back at two and were allowed to check in early, thanks! Buuuut...it was a bit of a fiasco to get our breakfast vouchers even though we had paid for them through Hotels.com the hotel needed paper proof of the included breakfast. I had none...cause who carries a printer on vacation. It wasn't enough to show them on my smart phone. They agreed an email showing the free meals would be sufficient. But to get internet at the hotel you have to pay...so we checked in. We finally sent an email to a lady at the front desk and went back downstairs but that employee was no longer working. It took another 10 minutes to verify that we indeed had two breakfasts coming. We got our vouchers and were on our way. The staff was very patient through that but it should be known by the hotel that is part of our reservation, kinda cheesy. It was well worth it though and the breakfast was amazing! HUGE buffet!! The staff learned we were on our honeymoon and gave us a voucher for a nice bottle of champagne. We had it with a nice dinner. The restaurant is very expensive but good. $20.00 for breakfast $30-$40 for dinner, but good. The beach is pretty but un-swimmable from what I saw. Located on the east coast in Lihue, this was the perfect location to travel north or south on the island (you will need a rental car to leave the property). Daily air traffic from the nearaby airport was not an issue. This stately hotel is very clean and the hotel staff extremely helpful. The rooms were nice and the bathrooms updated. The beds were […] similar to anothers' "heavenly bed". There was always something going on here - hula lessons, necklace/weaving lessons, live music nightly in the Shutters lounge. Once a week the legacy of hawaiian music concert is held in the ballroom of this hotel as well as the live presentation of South Pacific, both well worth seeing. An onsite concierge service makes booking activities easy and convenient. The pool areas have plenty of seating allowing for quiet reading or napping. I would stay here again. Les mer

This hotel was only 2 miles from the airport but you couldn't hear any air traffic which was great. It had an old Hawaii feel to the building and facilities and was very comfortable and relaxing. Only drawbacks were the beach (which was no swimming) and it seemed a little "grabby" of the hotel to charge for self parking. Our family group of seven had two days to spend on Kauai. We planned to see the south side of the island on the first day and the north side on the second day. The location of the Kauai beach resort was PERFECT for our plan. It is minutes from the airport and gives easy access to both sides of the island. The property is somewhat isolated (which we […] liked), is well maintained, and the service was very good. The pool area is fantastic. Small beach with big waves (not suitable for swimming). Spectacular sunrises. Easy parking (self or valet) with reasonable prices. You have a couple of restaurant options and both are very good. If there is a downside, you have a little bit of a drive for other restaurant options. But, given the crowds we saw on the busier south side of the island, staying at the resort for dinner is not a bad idea. Would definitely stay there again. Loved the chickens all over the island!! This is a nice place that could use some updating. No wi-fi in the rooms and there's a surcharge for cable internet in the room (though not in the lobby) and TV is the box kind. The pool area is very nice and the beach is near. The service in the bar by the pool is extremely slow and so is their kitchen. Parking is a couple minutes walk from the hotel […] itself so if you have trouble walking - go for valet. The hotel itself is near the airport but not noisy. There's nothing around it so plan on driving everywhere. All in all it's a nice place for the money but there are much better hotels in Kauai. Les mer

Above average rooms and beautiful grounds and amenities...not the best beach but still nice.

This place is very well maintained and is located in a perfect location between south and north. We loved it here. It was just very relaxing. There are some hidden resort fees like valet/self parking(yes it is funny that they charge even if you are self parking) but they are negligible as compared to other resorts. The staff is very friendly and quick to respond, and some are very personable. Our issues stem from when we first checked in and got to our room, the TV didn't have any sound! We called and a technician came, reset the system and it seemed to work, but only for a few minutes. We called again, he came back, reset it again. Same issue when we turned it […] off to leave the room. When we came back, no sound again. I figured it best I try to solve the issue, since it seemed to work after the tech played with it, only to go out again, but never went out in his presence. I unplugged the system and replugged it, and it worked. So this is what I had to do each time we wanted to watch TV. The other issue is with the cleanliness of the hotel. Many times we saw bugs on the hallway walls. The looked somewhat like roaches, but not. Maybe tropical species of roach? None in our room, but always in the halls. And at the hotel restaurant, we loved the open atmosphere, but birds would freely fly in and out, landing on the vacant tables and walking around all over the utensils and place settings. Not exactly the most palatable eating experience. Other than these, the hotel is great. Beautiful landscaping, close to the beach (although it's not a beach you'd really want to lounge at as there is only a small strip of sand). Kapaa is close, and so is Lihue and the airport. The location is perfect, actually, as it takes about the same amount of time to get to Hanalei Bay up north from the hotel as it does Waimea Canyon on the west. Les mer

This hotel is located nicely to see the island of Kauai...you can head either North or West, and be within minutes of any of the island attractions. The majority of the staff was very friendly and the accomodations were clean...not luxurious...but nice enough. The pool area was attractive and roomy enough that you didn't feel bunched together with other […] guests. Don't expect to be able to use the beach much...it is fairly narrow and the water in this location isn't swimmer-friendly. One feature that was very convenient was a reasonable extended check-out rate...they charge a minimal hourly amount if you need to stay longer than the 12:00 noon check-out time. Les mer

My husband had never been to Kauai. This is a great place to stay. easy to get to places and very clean and nice. We loved it!

We were a week at this hotel and we enjoyed every minute of it. We were fortunate and got to stay on the ground and pool side. We loved coffee in the mornings on the lanai. Poolside was fun and loved the shaded areas. My husband enjoyed the spa's every evening and even though many kids were there with their parents they were polite and no one was rowdy […] and obnoxious in the pools. I loved the short walk to the beach and beachcombing. I found a pocket knife, my husband found a cool bouy! We ate twice in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent, the service was very gracious. Clean rooms, gracious staff, Kauaii Beach Resort is a lovely place to spend the time you are not out enjoying the beautiful island of Kauaii! Les mer

Very close to Lihue airport. Very nice pool and on the beach. Restaurant for breakfast was very good. Good value. We stayed here 1 night until we could check into our condo rental. I thought this hotel was better than 1 of the 2 condos we rented during our stay.

My boyfriend and I are residents of Oahu, but we wanted to get away from our island for a few days and decided to visit Kauai. While searching for cheap hotels online, I found an amazing deal through Hotels.com for the Kauai Beach Resort. We were not disappointed. Amazing views, quiet, direct and immediate access to the shoreline, pools, jacuzzis, live […] music, free shuttle... Our only irritation was the late check in time. 4PM! We're not positive, but we think it had something to do with booking our hotel online and getting such a cheap rate. You get what you pay for. Les mer

This was my first time here and I would definitely come back. The staff could use some polish but the facility had everything you would need in a self contained mini resort!

Location is great if you plan on traveling around the island. Pools are really nice. Breakfast is pretty good. Rest of food is mediocre and priced 2x what it should be. This place could be great, but the service is poor. Doing a bad job at service and saying "aloha" a lot doesn't make it better. Saying "aloho" to me then letting the door slam in my […] face does not make good service. Pool area was dirty - they rarely picked up the trash. same with in the pool. Slide was great and the kids loved it, but they wouldn't staff it on time even though it wasn't to open till 10am. I complained, and the answer was "I'm someone will be there soon." Soda machines were empty on the entire property the entire time - they're really just trying to get you to pay $3 for a coke at the store instead of $1 in the machine, but their response is "really? the Coke guy is supposed to be coming." The service issues seem to be rampant throughout Hawaii. They say Aloha and Mohalo a lot to show you the "Aloha Spirit," then do a crappy job of service. If you want a great adventurous time, go to Kauai, and don't spend too much on a hotel. If you want a "resort" experience, go to Mexico or the Caribbean. Better service there and much cheaper. I'd pass on the Kauai Beach "Resort". Could be great - but the staff messed it up. Les mer

First of all hotel location is good enough, close to airport, other places you might need. Service is also excellent, you can arrange all your tour around the island in the hotel. Pool, fitness, restaurant, music of evening...

Spent a week at the KBR based on Trip Advisor recommendations, and it's certainly a good deal for the price we paid. The pool areas are very nice (but could use more shade), the rooms are perfectly nice if not very exciting. Our "lagoon view" was more of a parking lot view but that didn't really bother us. The only real disappointment was the food - […] in the bar it was very overpriced and pretty bad (obviously not unusual for a hotel!) but that put us off trying the restaurant. Staff were really great, with the exception of when we had a problem with the in-room internet and they told us to call the cable company! After not getting very far with that (20 mins on hold) we spoke to someone else who was able to get it fixed. The best thing was probably the location - perfect for exploring the island. Very glad we didn't stay down on the south shore as we had been planning, spent a day down there and really didn't enjoy it much. Being next to the towns and airport was very convenient. Les mer

Amazing resort stay on the beautiful island of Kauai. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Picked us up at the airport in the shuttle/van and gave us a [very] brief rundown on the island and answered any questions we threw at him. Was very brief only because the resort is literally a 5 minute van ride from the airport. Amazing lobby with view of […] the ocean and the several pools on the grounds. We had a 'mountain' view room, and as stated, there is no bad view of this amazing island. Stopped to have dinner at the poolside bar, food was acceptable, as expected for an outdoor bar [not a restaurant]. Very easy walk to the ocean/beach where you can swim [this is not a lifeguarded beach, not recommended for kids or solo adults]. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place, we stayed 1 night only because we arrived a day early for our rental, but would have no problem staying a week. Rent a car if you plan on seeing sights or staying more than a day. It is well worth it! Les mer

I stayed here for one week in May 2011. -Everyone was friendly. (Except for attendant at sundries store, who was in a perpetual bad mood) -The pools are marvelous and make up for the fact that you can't get in the beach since it is too dangerous at this spot. -The pool bar is great. -One of the few Kauai hotels with A/C -They have laundry facilities […] for use of guests The things I did not like about this hotel: -First night we got a lot of flying bugs in the room and we had to kill them. This never happened again, but we could never figure out where they came from (balcony door was closed for our entire stay). -Coffee in the room and in the restaurants sucks. -Concierge desk is full Expedia. They won't recommend anything that is not on their roster of Expedia options. This is not what a concierge desk is supposed to be like. They just want to make Expedia sales. Les mer

We only stayed one night as we flew in one day early before our booked time share week to take care of a few things. This is a great hotel, on the ocean and with pools and whirlpool outside and near the airport to boot! Only comments is the parking lot that was not really adjacent to the hotel like hotels back in the states so it is a longer walk to […] your car than we are use to. My wife and I are 63 yrs old. It was hard to get the room cool enough as the temperature dials were not as responsive as I would have liked for and airconditioned room. The only other comment was at the outside bar and cafe, it took a while (we were hungry after the long two 6hr flights it took us to get to this hotel in Lihue), along with us going up to the waiter to find out how we are to order food when he said the waiter comes to your table. It seemed a long time to even get our drinks but because the scenery and atmosphere of the bar was so alive it helped with the long wait plus being tired I am sure was a factor. For the less adventurous types, this is a nice relaxing resort. Location was convenient to the Airport and about equal distance between the activities on the North/East side of the island and those on the South/West side of the island. The negatives were that you have to drive off of the property to get to everything, there is nothing in walking distance. […] The pool area was very nice, but I feel like they can do a lot more with the surrounding land and space. I was not happy with having to pay daily for parking considering that you pretty much need a car if you are going to stay at this resort. I have stayed at this hotel many times for business. Hotel rooms are getting a little run down and smell kind damp and musky
