Red Lion Hotel Oakland International Airport - Oakland

We were given a room past the outdoor pool in a two story section of the hotel, it seemed like it was an older section of the hotel. We arrived late and hungry, cafe had closed. Pizza delivered to our room around 11:30 p.m., Around 12:30 a.m. someone started knocking on our door twice. Did not open the door. Sliding glass door right onto parking lot. […] Did not feel very secure. We were very tired, had been travelling all day from Kauai, in hindsight we should have called the front desk. On our way to Kauai we stay there and was put in the tower and that was great. Did not feel secure out in that parking lot. I would suggest that you make sure they don't put you out there. Les mer

The front desk was unable to answer the phone for wake up calls. There was no alarm in the room or in the phone system. I observed the clerk ignoring the calls when I was checking in and I later experienced this myself.

This is the the old Park Hotel. Good value and location for the price. Had a room with two very short double beds.

restaraunt in hotel was great for food, horrible for service. Staff was grand, good value.

Hotel was very convenient, so I would recommend if flying out of Oakland as we were. There was a problem with the hot water tank so there was no hot water in the tower rooms. The staff offered to give us a room in the west wing, but I had read not to stay there. They also offered to let us use a west wing room to take a shower the next day. Room was […] clean, but mattress was low quality and left me with slight pain in my back. For the price, however, it was a bargain to be that near the airport. The room did not compare to the other 3 start hotels we booked with Hotels.com We froze. It was soooo bad that they switched us to another room. We were happy to unthaw until 1 hour later when that room turned cold. It was late we froze to sleep.

Clock radio didn't work, phone didn't work, but friendly staff address these items. Weal wireless signal. Very close to main road, a bit noisy but convenient.

We were on a roadtrip to Northern CA and we had a one-night roadtrip layover in San Franscisco. Our stay in this hotel was comfortable and hassle-free. We booked two rooms for one night for our party of 6, which included 3 children. It was not luxurious, but a great price for the level of comfort in accommodations that they do provide. wasnt the best room but for the price next to the air port. rooms were ok, clean enough, carpets were very stained and dirty. but over al ok...

We went for a vacation to SFO but at this price we diodnt even make a decent hotel there. So we chose Red Lion. The hotel is really clean, the service is great. The counter around the wash basin was really small though, good from a man not a woman :) You although wont find any convinience store close by. Was out in the west wing building, and upon entrance the stairwell and carpet was dirty and unkept. The room was average with a box TV, the room smelled like marijuana which probably came from other residents who may be living on the property, felt like I was at a motel. My room was then changed to a room in the main building which was far more better […] (like night and day). Being a business profesional man, would not recommend this hotel to no one. Les mer

I stayed at the Red Lion during the President's Day weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The room was very cozy for me and the staff was helpful. I would stay here again.

We recently had to travel through the oakland area for a layover. The Red lion hotel was a very comfortable place to stay. The shuttle drivers were friendly and quick. Would stay there again if I ever got back to the area.

This was my 2nd time staying there and it's conviently located near food and freeway. Clean rooms quiet surroundings. Rm service was good, a little pricy but food was good none the less. I would recommend staying here. The best thing was the Great price.....

Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Had nice stay.

only 1 mug for in room coffee. When I went to the desk to request another, staff did not know where to find one - gave me "mini" cups. NO HOT WATER!! Twice I requested a call from a manager - once upon checkout (Friday) and again 4 days later (Tuesday). Still have not received call.

clean, convenient, just a minute away from the airport and shuttle service. Restaurant had great burgers. I would stay here again.

Clean and friendly hotel.

The area was not good, the fact that they did not have enough frigde and microwave and we had to pay 5 dollars for each one per day, one of the female staff was very rude , the fact that we had already paid for our hotel most people did not get the room they requested , they said the room was sold out, how could it be sold out when people pre paid for […] their room through hotel.com??? me and my mom was hosting a party in oakland and a lot of our guests stayed there also, came from different states even from canada, they all expressed how disappointed they were with the hotel, and the staffs. No amenities around the hotel. No hot water. I won't stay here again. I would not recommend this hotel.

even though we stayed in a non-smoking room, the entire building smelled horrible. when we entered the building, we almost changed our minds about where we would stay. the smell was something between musty and smoky. when in our rooms, we noticed the smell was in there too. after we got home, our clothes carried that smell.

Great bargain for decent bed and bath. The free shuttle was very responsive. At first I found the neighborhood a little dodgy but I had no problems. And Alameda is 5 minutes away just past the rental car location near the airport. Would stay there again.

We chose this hotel since it was close to the airport. I was prepared for the worst but everything worked out pretty well. We had two rooms reserved and we luckily got them both on the first floor in one of the towers in the back so we could pull up our car right up to the sliding room door. It was the most convenient parking space we could have asked […] for. Just open our sliding door and the car was right there. The hotel is not in the best area, I would stay in Alameda next time as it is also fairly nearby, but if you have an early flight and need to stay in this area, this is a good option. Our rooms had two queen size beds and the bathroom was much larger and what we just experienced in San Fran. Les mer

Clean hotel, friendly staff, can't complain for the price!

The hotel is located by the Oakland Airport so it is convenient to most Bay Area destinations. However there is quite a bit of construction going on around the hotel so access is not great. However, the rooms themselves are roomy and comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the price is certainly better than other comparable hotels. One bit […] of advice from the desk staff - park your car in the back, the front is not safe (I assume it is due to construction as well as the surrounding neighborhood). Les mer

Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds and furniture. Some noise from street. Would stay there again. Would recommend to friends.

We stayed at another hotel earlier in the week. It had a coffee maker and a microwave, and a mini fridge. It helped to keep some of our items cold when we needed it to stay chilled. I stayed at the red lion because of the convenience to the airport. We flew out very early in the morning. I like it, just for an overnigher, not a week long.

I needed a shuttle to the BART station, they made me pay $5. They gave me a ticket that stated "good all day, must give to shuttle driver on return trip". When i called to get picked up, they told me no. $5 each way but they dont pick up from BART. I was stranded at night in Oakland!! They didnt even know what bus I should take....just told me to take […] a cab! BAD form! Les mer

Altho the shuttle service is a courtesy, many travelers check ahead as I did to assure that they do have a shuttle from the airport to the hotel. I called 4 times for the shuttle. I was told 1st shuttle had just left the airport, 10min. later (2nd call) shuttle was on the way, 3rd call- shuttle will be there in 5 min, 4th call, shuttle will be there […] in10 min-by this time I was irate-it was late at night and a cold wind was blowing so I asked how long it took to drive the one mile from the hotel to the airport since Hilton had been by four times, Marriott had been by three times and a couple of other hotel shuttles had been by two or three times- the night clerk said the shuttle had to pick up passengers at BART then would be at the airport in 10 minutes and hung up. About 5 minutes later, a Red Lion shuttle passed by and myself and another lady yelled at the shuttle- the driver backed up and told us he could not pick us up as his van was full and he would be back in 10 minutes. Nine minutes later, the driver did return to pick us up. We were out at the hotel shuttle pickup for 55 minutes and no apology was offered by the night clerks only by the shuttle driver who was very pleasant and courteous. Then, the night clerk said he did not have a2 queen bed bed that I had reserved through Hotels. com. Les mer

All 5's (except neighborhood) are relative to what you would expect for this price range. Not much to each within walking distance, Shuttle driver was amazingly helpful.

I had a very early AM flight so I wanted a hotel in close proximity to the airport. This hotel fit the bill. The biggest disappointment was they charged me for the room even though it was pre-paid. I just happened to catch it when it posted to my bank account. The hotel did reverse the charge when I called and explained it was a misrouting error but […] if I hadn't noticed they would have been double paid. Makes you wonder... Les mer
