location great / room clean / breakfast short but beds are not confortable at all and it was quite noisy. Recommend if only staying one night or something..

Hotel room was an outside room. Wouldn't have been so bad but the surrounding area is a little scary. Room was not the cleanest and the bathroom had mold around the tub. The tub was so high that one of my roommates fell down getting out. Overall the room felt dirty. This was not worth the price and I would not stay here again.

This hotel needs alot of TLC. Not very clean or in the best area. The price was good; however the uncleanliness made us wish we had stayed somewhere else.

Hotel was in a central location but you can tell the room is very old. Bathroom had no exhaust fan. Bathtub and grout was dingy. No microwave. No refrigerator. no extra outlets for electronics. and only 2 out of 4 lamps worked. Thanks but i can do better.

Would never stay here again. Paper thin walls could hear everything going on outside till 3AM. Breakfast was poor compared to other La Quinta's I have stayed at. The bed was like a trampoline, and I mean that in a bad way. Very difficult to sleep.

Pros: room, bath and linens were clean. Decent breakfast. Check-in clerk was semi-friendly, check-out clerk was friendlier. Cons: room needed to be updated (tons of rust on room entrance door, some paint peeling off of restroom ceiling, no exhaust fan in restroom). This hotel was a motel, as in you drive to your door and park right outside your room. It wasn't it a very good neighborhood and there is no "Highland Mall" to speak of. Luckily, hotels.com got me out of staying there the entire four nights and I just had to stay one night.

Very easy access to I-35, UT Austin, and the Capitol. Not the best of the best in terms of appearance, but it definitely serves its purpose. Nice bed to sleep in, HOT water available, complimentary breakfast, helpful desk staff, ect... If you need a decent place to stay this is your spot

The staff was very courteous, the room was comfortable. I would stay again if I needed to come back to Austin.

Hotel was pretty outdated & needed a makeover. It's located just off I-35 & you hear sirens all night long. Also homeless people under the bridge too. We didn't have a bad experience, just wished it was cleaner & in better neighborhood. The mall is out of commission too. i would give it a C- to D+. We wouldn't stay there again.

ac did not work and had to be reset. the tv was tampered with and was fxed by maint. rooms have thin walls and can hear toilet flushing in the next room next door and people talking in the hallway outside. i wont be returning.

The free breakfast was pretty poor. We went next door and had a fabulous breakfast for just a few dollars. If you are counting on the breakfast as a perk, dont

La Quinta @ Highland Mall was convenient to IH35 access. Rooms were ample in size and beds comfortable- but in need of some upgrade (carpets very worn) and maintenance (AC unit is noisy).

Room 203 can use some maintenance. above the entry door from inside very dirty. tub had chipped paint and inside of it looked dirty( sticky materials ) a/c did not cool the place properly. located in second floor /outside and far from elevator made it difficult to carry luggage upstairs. had to use stairs located outside .

Rented king non-smoking for 4 nights. Broken chair. One lamp did not work. Toilet didn't flush, however dude at front desk was quick to fix this. No vent in restroom, not good for stinky poo. Sink area separated from shower/toilet, loved this. People at front desk nice and friendly, greeted instantly as walked in through door and always asked to make […] sure things were okay, also helpful with directions. Check-out was quick and painless. Had continental breakfast, not too many options - cereal, juice, coffee, apple/banana, muffins... mostly cold foods and lacking hot option. Old A/C unit, but kept the room cool despite being in the 100 degrees outside in late July... also the loudness of the A/C unit drowned out the outside noise (highway, ppl hanging out in the parking lot, etc). Room easily accessible. Good shower water pressure. Good location off highway, easy to get around. Target/Walmart nearby. Well lit at night. Fair price, fair place, would recommend to others. My family and I was on a week long vacation in Austin. We selected this location because it proximity to UT Texas. Upon arrival i could tell that this was not going to be a good place to stay. The guess at the hotel were very loud, the property was dirty, and nasty. we walked in to the room and it had a moldy smell. They advertise two queen beds, they […] are not queens, and the matresses are so soft I felt I was going thru them. Of course I called Hotel.com and expressed my displeasure. I was forced to stay one night however the next morning I was out of there. Good Luck if you choose this property. Perhaps your standard will not be as leveld as mine. Les mer

Air conditioner was not the best but, it was late when I checked in and outside temperature was 90 plus. Room cooled during night and was not uncimfortable just never got cold.

I had to book another room while I was there. The front desk lady was extremely rude.

Location and rates were the prime reason we selected this property, assuming that the quality of the chain and our Elite status would guarantee a solid level of quality. While this property has not yet been updated, we stayed almost 60 days with La Quinta this year and expected a comfortable bed, a clean room with free WIFI and a desk to work at, and […] a decent free breakfast which would include their famous Belgian Waffles. Upon check-in we were greeted with our complimentary bottle of water and a cookie due to the Elite status. Alas, we found that the Belgian Waffles were not to be; this location has only frozen toaster waffles. The service, room, bed, desk space, and WIFI did not disappoint; however, at a room rate only slightly below 3 and 4 start hotels the breakfast was a disappointment which we hope will be rectified by the addition of a couple of Belgian Waffle Irons and batter. This is especially important at this location, as the traditional Denny's next door is closed. We will be monitoring breakfast status at the location to determine whether we will repeat our otherwise unblemished stay on Mother's Day. Les mer

The desk staff was very polite and kind. The room had numerous maintenance concerns. Two of the lamps did not work and when I plugged in another item into the socket, the actual socket was not functional. The corners of the room were dirty and touch up paint was desperately needed. The hotel is in need of a refurb.

This hotel was a good value and the service staff when a step above to make us happy. Would recommend.

I have stayed at this hotel before but would not choose to stay there if something else was available. It is right in the middle of 3 convergent freeways and the traffic is very heavy and loud. Surprisingly the noise isn't noticeable in the room. It was cleaner this time than before. The hotel staff were nice and friendly. The A/C was not working right […] and would have been a problem in warmer weather. I didn't have the complementary breakfast included this time. I had requested a ground floor and handicapped if available because I was traveling with my mother who is on oxygen continously and can't do stairs. They had that room for us in spite of being booked up. I only made the reservation with this hotel because there was no other hotels available but it turned out better than expected. At night, the hotel's parking lot was very noisy. There were trucks and RV busses playing music very loudly so it was hard to get rest. The bed was comfortable but the other amenities were not satisfactory.. there was no microwave and no fridge; no way to keep food fresh. its an older hotel so it shows, but it was clean and the service was great.

We booked a king bed room but were informed upon check-in that they only had a smoking room available. Since that's disgusting, we had to take a non-smoking double bed room. Since we booked on hotels.com and had paid in full, we had to call hotels.com ourselves to get a credit for the price difference (information I was given only after pushing for […] it). Be aware of the fact that you are not able to book smoking/non-smoking ahead of time. Other than that, the stay was OK. Room was clean, breakfast was very basic. I could hear the freeway easily through the walls. If in the area again, I'll probably try one of the other similarly priced hotels located nearby. The Super 8 next door looked pretty nice and I'm pretty sure they serve a hot breakfast Les mer

The room was marginally acceptable. The temperature in Austin the night of the stay was in the low 20's. I had to stuff pillow cases between the door and door frame due to an excessive amount of cold air coming into the room through the crack. The bath tub had the remains of adhesive left from the previous non-skid mat which was not covered by the new […] mat - very unappealing. The room was very tired. Also, I accidentally left a personal light blanket in the room when checking out. No one from the hotel contacted me and more than likely, the maid took the blanket without notifying anyone. I stayed in this hotel several time back in the early 90's. I don't think anything has been renovated since then. I will not be staying in this hotel again and will not recommend to friends that they stay there I was very unhappy with this experience. Les mer

My wife and I decided to drive down to Austin last minute so I booked a room in a matter of minutes. When we got there they already had the room number and room keys ready to go. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and surprisingly did not have that usual musky hotel room smell. These people who are complaining probably use much nicer hotels most of the time. It's not a bad hotel although this one is located next to some sort of club. I went during the week so it was closed, so I did't have any problems with noise or the parking lot being full. This hotel is just fine for an overnight stay like I had.

Hotel in a very convenient location and close to many fun things to do in Austin. Check-in was extremely fast as the front desk had all paperwork ready, all we had to do was sign. They even had the keys programed and ready. Staff was extremely nice. Clean and comfy hotel room (the bathtub was slightly dirty). The hotel was not anything as what was described on site. there was not a full breakfast, indoor pool, microwave or refrigerator in the room. This hotel does not even offer a suite style room. the staff was great and they agreed with me and said that this happens all the time. this was definitely not the first time that the hotel guest were unhappy […] because it was not what we had expected. cereal and pigs in a blanket do not constitute a full breakfast. i will NEVER stay in a La Quinta again, personally or through corporate. The receptionist, Andre, was very cordial and professional. He called the room about thirty minutes after my check in to make sure I'm satisfied with the condition of my hotel room and to call front desk if I need anything.

It took us over an hour to get from the freeway exit to the hotel. We past the hotel twice on a one way street because the sign was not easy to see from the street. Once there, the clerk was nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was our only disappointment.

The stay was ok. It's in a good llocation to restaraunts and shopping.

Not exactly the cleanest place to lay your head but there really isn't much to choose from in this price range.
