"Sentralt i forhold il det meste"Anmeldt av en hotels.com-gjest den mai 7, 2012
Meget bra hotell, lett å komme rundt i byen
"Super beliggenhet nær Union Square og Chinatown"Anmeldt av en hotels.com-gjest den apr 29, 2012
Enkelt og bra hotell i Europeisk stil (les: litt shabby), meget sentralt. Hyggelig betjening, rent og ikke spesielt lytt. Veldig bra valuta for pengene. Anbefales!

We had a lovely weekend at the hotel vertigo. Staff was helpful and friendly. The rates were great. The elevator is slow but it's a great excuse to take the stairs every once in awhile. I would stay there again.
"Very good hotel"
I saw some reviews about rooms that didn't look like the pictures but at least in my case everything was just as expected. It was a lovely hotel, nice room, nice bathroom and comfy bed. Friendly front desk service and would definitely stay here again!

"Nice but not so nice"
This is what I consider a pretty objective rating/review of the Hotel Vertigo on Sutter. The food in the area is good and affordable, the exec king room is decent, parking in public lots is affordable. That said ... the service was horrible and the valet appeared very irresponsible handling vehicles. I was charged for a night my car was never in the […] valet. I was told no one was around to make the correction. I did not sign the bilil and will dispute $35 of it to the credit company. I wish I didn't have to go through that hassle. Also the neighborhood is loud and very close to the undesirable 'tenderloin district'. To sum it up. Affordable but not desirable. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! Les mer

"Hotel Vertigo - convenient & Lovely!"
We spent Thanksgiving night here as we were in SF to spend the holiday with our son who's a student at Academy of Art. It's just around the corner from his apt & very convenient to the many of the AAU buildings. It's in the upper Tenderloin but we feel safe here(as compared to down a few blocks). The hotel has unique decor which we loved. The staff […] was very friendly. The petite rooms are very roomy.(No need for the larger room). Free WiFi was helpful as our son brought his computer over to show us some of his school work. Only a few blocks walk to Union Square and much less sidewalk traffic at this location. We will definitely stay here again. Les mer

The lobby is way to stark and plain. No warmth to it whatsoever. Rooms ok, towels nice as were the robes.
"Solid Hotel"
Location was good. Rooms were small but sufficient. Beds, Showers, etc., were all high quality - since those are the only two things you'll really use the room for while in SF, I think its the most important part of the hotel. Service was friendly and helpful. Hotel overall was nothing special, a bit aged, tight corridors and elevators, though everything […] else was very good. Free wi-fi. Thank God. Daily parking rate is v. expensive - factor that in when considering the cost. Les mer

Enjoyed our stay, staff helpful and friendly, rooms comfortable. Will probably rent the movie.
"It's a good hotel overall but little things......"
I was super excited when I arrive at The Vertigo b/c the interior is really unique and I've never been to a hotel like this. My room was pretty and again --- unique --- with unusal fixture. The one MAIN thing I had was my bathtub. Everything in the room looks nice and clean but the bathtub was VERY VERY run down. Paints fell off as the water flow. […] It was as if they ran out of money and decided to not maintain the bathtub. The staff doesn't look extremely welcoming but service was acceptable. DO NOT MAKE ANY CALL USING THE PHONE IN YOUR ROOM!! They charge for local 415 calls as well. It definitely was not obvious that I'd have to pay for every call and it doesn't quite make sense. The location was ok, but it's a bit of a walk from union square. Les mer
"What a gem!!"
This was my first trip to San Francisco and it was a quick stop for business, Hotel Vertigo was a beautiful gem to stay in. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and super accommodating. They were a great mix of professionalism and laid back charm. I loved it!
"Great hotel!"
I chose this hotel mostly based on the price, the location and the fact that my husband wrote a report on the movie back in college. The desk staff are very friendly (Gregory is the best concierge we've ever had!). The renovated rooms are great (I've heard through other reviews that the traditional rooms are not as nice, so book a "Vertigo" room instead […] of a traditional room to get the renovated ones). The tub/shower is a little bit narrow, but it's doable. The rest of the bathroom is very nice and they even have cotton balls, bathrobes and a hairdryer for your use. The bed is a platform bed and it is pretty comfortable, but was a little too firm for our tastes. But, after wandering around SF all day, we still slept great. The mini-fridge came in very handy during our stay because we were able to get some juice and some breakfast items to have (they don't serve breakfast at the hotel, just coffee and tea in the lobby). The hotel is very quiet, which is a plus. The decor (at least in the renovated sections) is really cool. It was kind of fun to find the references to the film, and we even went to a few of the places in SF where they shot the movie (Legion of Honor, etc.). The hotel is very convenient to the Muni buses and only a few blocks walk away from the historic cable cars. The Powell Bart station is a little farther, but still doable if you are walking. The one complaint we had was that this is a little close to the Tenderloin area (an area that we were told to avoid) than we would have liked. We thought it was closer to Japantown than it was, and that was our fault for not reading the map properly. But, I think as long as you don't walk around the Tenderloin alone at night, you should be fine. If you are vegetarian, we highly recommend the Millennium Restaurant and Golden Era Vegetarian Restaurant which are only a few blocks away from the hotel. Room Tip: Make sure to book a Vertigo room, not traditional. Les mer
"Vertigo Hotel"
The Vertigo Hotel is an incredible bargain. Great design, comfort, and service and the element of film history makes it even more attractive.
"OMG!!!"
Horrible place to stay. If you are used to living on the streets then maybe you will like it otherwise check into the hilton or any other 4 to 5star Hotel
"Fabulous location and upscale look"
The hotel was incredibly nice, comfortable. The bathroom was huge for being an sf hotel. And the closet was huge! The only complaint I have is that our tv was fuzzy. Not sure when the last time I saw a fuzzy television
Hotel is located on lower Nobb Hill. It was most conv eniet to to everything I wanted to see.
"Customer reviews are most accurate"
The hotel is advertised very well, but deceiving right away. No pictures do justice to what rooms actually look like. I was told there was two different styles of rooms. The upbeat room is what is shown on the site. The other "style" is just beds thrown into a room, no desk, a TV with bad reception, an unclean bathroom, and a sink. The free internet […] is slower than a dinosaur, and I would highly recommend staying at another hotel. This is not even worth the money you pay per night. Wake up calls are non-existent (even though they say they call). Les mer
"Half true"
I will admit the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. But, it goes downhill from there. As far as I can tell and from what I was told, the hotel is in the process of being renovated. That means the lobby looks great and new. If you get stuck in an old room, it leaves quite a bit to be desired. It will look NOTHING like the pictures. As I apparently […] booked the same time as everyone else in the world, the hotel was full. I, traveling alone, got a very old looking room with 2 single beds. I contemplated going down to complain or ask about switching rooms until I heard the entire conversation of the girls in the room next to mine. Which also means the walls seemed pretty thin (to be completely honest, they were pretty loud) They had apparently already complained that their rooms were nothing like what is shown in the pictures and website but there was nothing that could be done. One of them was so upset that they argued about changing hotels for at least 10 minutes. I wasn't THAT upset about it, but I was only in town for one night. My only real issue is that if I wanted to sleep in a small, old room with a single bed, I would have booked a couple hotels down and saved myself $50 bucks a night. Les mer
"Unexpected"
Nice hotel BUT make sure you are aware of whether you are getting a renovated room (as shown on hotel website) or unrenovated room (not nearly as nice). I was pretty upset with my original room but luckily the customer service is very good and they upgraded me to a nicer (but still unrenovated) room. It's a $30 charge to upgrade from an unrenovated […] room to a renovated room... I think it might be worth it in retrospect. Les mer

"Hotel Vertigo SF"
Our room was not cleaned, food and crumbs on the carpet and the bath tub and shower curtain where covered in long dark hairs. It was obviously not properly cleaned before our arrival. The staff where very unapologetic and i had to ask to be moved rooms. Also the rooms we stayed in where in the "unrenovated" section of the hotel and where nothing like […] the pictures on the website. Dark, drab, dirty and basic. Dont stay here Les mer

"hotel vertigo SF"
Hotel Vertigo is a decently priced boutique hotel in downtown SF. The room was decent size and the bed was very comfortable. There were coffee shops and restaurants nearby. My only complaint with the hotel was the amount of time it took to get my car from the valet. 35 minutes wait almost made me miss my flight. Do yourself a favor and park yourself […] at a parking garage nearby. Les mer
"Dont waste your money"
This hotel was horrible. The room was nothing like shown on the web! This hotel looks like it has not been updated in 20 years. There is no room service no vending machines nothingl. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is it had good water presure.

"Hotel Vertigo in San Francisco is Awesome!"
I highly recommend Hotel Vertigo if you are visiting San Francisco. The employees were very friendly, the room & restroom were clean, and the furnishing was very modern and nice. The hotel was in a great location. Union Square was in walking distance. The only downfall was the slow elevator and the weak heater.

"Hotel Vertigo, San Fransico, CA."
We loved this hotel, close to everything, four blocks from Union Square, eatery's everywhere of all types of food, close to cable cars, recommend the valet parking , no street parking, but you can walk everywhere, taxi to Golden Gate Park, though. I really liked the forties/early fifties feel and the lush beds!!
"Hotel Vertigo"
Hotel Vertigo is a nice, clean, moderately stylish boutique hotel about 6 blocks to the west of Union Square. The front desk personnel were extremely helpful, internet was free, the room was clean and moderately stylish. The price was god. The uphill walk from Moscone center (if you are attending a conference) is about as far as you would want to walk, […] but acceptable. There are quite a few cafes and restaurants within a few blocks and a syrprisingly complete market on the same block if you want snacks or drinks. It was a good stay for the price - I'd do it again. Les mer
"Hotel Vertigo-Boutique Experience"
I booked Hotel Vertigo based on the reviews and the fact that I like modern boutique type accomodations. The service was good and for the most part our hotel room was clean and not as small as some other reviewers had commented. The building was old and the hallways had a peculiar odor but our room and bed were comfortable. My only issues is that the […] hotel does not have a minibar for water or a coffee maker. Also, parking with tax came to be about $40 but if you do your homework you'll find that parking is expensive in the city. The hotel is several blocks from Union Square which makes it very convenient for shopping, dining out and bar hopping. Les mer
"Hotel Vertigo an unexpected gem"
I was very pleased with my stay at the Hotel Vertigo. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I will definitely look to stay there again.
"Hotel Vertigo - San Francisco's Hidden Gem"
My wife and I just returned from a trip to San Francisco with our 5 month old daughter and had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Vertigo. The stafff was extremely courteous and the beds were very comfortable. They even had a crib for the baby which was a plus. One of the front desk clerks even sang to my daughter one morning, it was awesome! You can […] park down the street for $21.00 per day and across the street is an awesome cafe called Thad's Cafe. Thad is a very nice gentlemen that took interest inus and our trip and he spoke to us like we were old friends. His food is delicious and I recommend his cafe to anyone staying in the area He even opens at am for the early risers. No complaints, great hotel, I would definitely stay again. Les mer
"Vertigo Hotel, San Francisco,CA"
This hotel is very comfy. This was my very first time staying in SF overnight. It was walking distance to where I was attending and the neighborhood is okay Every town has its ugly side so make sure you know your surrounding well!! One thing I disliked about this is that they only have one ice machine and its on the lobby and it sucks if your room is […] above the 4th floor. Les mer
"Hotel Vertigo - SF weekend in October"
My wife and I selected Hotel Vertigo for a long weekend in October based on its proximity to Union Square and budget price. We were not disappointed. Be sure to request a RENOVATED ROOM, as the non-renovated rooms on the first 3 floors seem to be much inferior to them. It is a little bit of a hike to Union Square (6-7 city blocks), but you'll be walking […] past hotels that cost 1.5 to 2 times as much. The decor of the hotel is great. They obviously invested heavily in furniture and interior design, and the theme really works. The lobby is trendy and inviting. The bathroom was larger than I expected for a boutique hotel (and larger than it appeared in the pictures). No tub, but the stand-up shower was massive. Toiletries and other amenities were high quality. Definitely would recommend a stay here. It's convenient enough to make the extra walk worth it. Les mer

"Hotel Vertigo: Not your big box hotel"
I loved my stay there. I heard only European accents in the hotel and felt like the modern design was different than what you'd normally get.
"A Work in Progress but Renovated Rooms worth it!"
First off, the hotel is still being renovated so I would suggest requesting a newer room as it is a world of difference in quality. I traveled with friends who ended up in an older room and there was nothing in comparison. There are no coffee makers in the rooms, but they do have a service in the lobby in the mornings and there are several great coffee […] shops in the same block. The bathrobes that come in the newer rooms are the best I've ever had at a hotel, and the bedding was dreamy. The staff was extremely accommodating with a few unusual requests of trying to coordinate delivery of instruments with local people. I used to live in the neighborhood and can say it's very convenient to everything. It's a short walk to Union Square, China Town and the Trolley Lines and there is a bus line on the corner. Les mer
"Hotel Verigo"
Great Hotel. I travel for business and the location could not be better. Very quite rooms. Enjoyed my stay. Will be back.

We loved this hotel, charming boutique hotel in a good location. Close to Union Square, within walking distance of Chinatown and North Beach. Staff was great, very friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer.

"Great discovery!"
I loved Hotel Vertigo. Definitely recommend the updated Vertigo rooms on the 3rd floor and higher (1st and 2nd floor are the old style rooms from the York Hotel days). The linens, just as I had read, are amazing. The beds are soft and cozy. The design is modern and funky, but not overboard. The rooms are not huge, but they are fine for 1 or 2 people […] - I'm small and was traveling alone, so it was perfect for me. This hotel was a great little discovery, and I highly recommend it. It's an easy walk to Union Square, and there's a great pizza place and a little cafe on the same block. Very safe and clean area. I loved it. Les mer
"Hotel Vertigo SF - Nice Place to Stay"
Very comfortable hotel with nice, clean rooms. The hotel is older (one elevator), but nicely decorated. The rooms are stylish and the bedding was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. I was attending a convention at Moscone Center, so I had to walk quite a way or take a cab. However, if you're a tourist and going to see many […] different parts of town, it is conveniently located close enough to Union Square to walk. The neighborhood is nice with a pizza parlor, coffee/gelato shop and two different breakfast restaurants just a few doors down. It is also quiet enough at night to allow us to sleep with the window open to get the night breeze, but not hear a lot of street noise like some hotels near the Powell/Market area. I would stay again and can easily recommend this hotel to any type of traveller. Les mer
