Barcelo Blackpool Imperial Hotel - Blackpool

Arrived at the hotel which had plenty of parking but residents are charged £3.50 per day for the privilege.(My stay at other Barcelo hotels always included free parking). The hotel looks in need of renovation throughout - installers were in the process of window replacement. I hope this is the beginning of a renovation programme as this is a beautiful […] building. Our room was clean but needed a revamp, however the cleaning in public areas needs more attention. The restaurant and staff were excellent. The breakfast buffet had a good choice and one evening we had the three course dinner menu and were very impress by the quality. In our opionion the beds were very hard but were provided with toppers after speaking with reception staff. An overall view of this hotel is very good which is due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. When the building is brought up to the standards of other Barcelo hotels I have stayed in, I'm sure it will be excellent. Les mer

Stayed here with my partner. Overall good value for money if you get the room discounted, but most definately not worthy of its claimed four star rating and expensive rack room rates. Service was pretty good. leisure facilities enjoyable and clean. Our room though, on the second floor was very "tired", holes in the curtains, and dated fittings, but […] had been re decotated. it was small for a double room as was the bathroom. But it was all clean. Sound insulation between floors not good, we encountered a lot of noise from rom above. Breakfast was nice with a good selection of continental and full english, served buffet style and service was good. Bar and food prices otherwise extortianate. Blackppol a little tired and run dowm and the Imperial a testiment to this. We booked a room with extra bed on line and upon arrival found there was no extra bed for out little one. We were swiftly upgraded to a family room which was very comfortable. Some late night party-goers noisy but this is to be expected in Blackpool on a Fri/ Sat I think. Breakfast […] buffet was good. Initially disappointed with the room, which was not very large and faced the back of the building with views of scaffolding, rooves and a seedy back street. However, due to the incredibly strong winds coming from the sea during our stay, we were pleased not to have had a sea view ! Jaded from its former truly Imperial days, and at risk of falling into dilapidation if not invested in properly. No longer Blackpool's finest. Everyone recommends the Big Blue these days. I guess the upshot is whether it felt an appropriate room rate and would I return... and the answer's no to both. I know this was a budget room but the space between bath and toilet was about 6 inches impossible to you use if we had been large people. Bedside light switch was behind headboard, when headboard was pulled forward it dropped off ( headboard ). Not what I would expect from a Barcelo hotel. Although had a good stay at hotel, this was down to wedding reception rather than the hotel.. Firstly on a positive ,cannot fault service from staff at all, from reception to breakfast staff all very good.. but on a more negative, the condition of the hotel is shocking, restaurant in disrepair and shabby, the rooms very tired with paticular reference […] to bathroom and the heat well!! no aircon and windows screwed shut ! The overall standard for a 4 star hotel was shocking..also the p0rices of drinks at the bar were extortionate, we had people at our table just refusing to buy drinks because of cost... sorry to be so negative but i travel around the world and stop in many hotels ,of all standards, but this must rate, as the worst 4 star. A comfortable hotel, in a good seafront location for exploring Blackpool.The hotel rooms lacks air conditioning which can make the rooms uncomfotable as the windows only open 3 inches. ventilation is a major issue. breakfast highly recomended.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, it is more than satisfactory for a night in Blackpool, directly on the promenade ideal for a summer evenings walk. My only disappointment with this establishment is the apparent lack of upkeep. It is a magnificent building owned by a renowned hotel chain yet could do with a lick of paint! Our room […] was on the top floor with a sea view (which was lovely) but the window was screwed shut, yet drafty and the window sill was bowed and coming away. Room was dirty, with a tiny bathroom I felt like I was staying in a b&b not a 4*hotel I was very disappointed and I am afraid I won't be going back! Alot of money for heat I got!!

I had read a few reviews that had listed the hotel as tired but wanted a hotel with a pool, of which there are few in Blackpool. The hotel was much better than expected and is very old world grand inside. Reception very friendly, room extremely satisfactory although at rear of building. Breakfast was plentiful. The hotel was well situated, but hampered by promenade reconstruction.Excellent breakfast all good quality apart from dire sausages! Reception staff not up to scratch- if you can find them- and heaven help you if you want a drink before bar opens at 3.30pm. We were delighted with the hotel and had a lovely weekend. The building is very grand and easily the most impressive in the area. The pool and health centre facilities were superb. Breakfast was tasty, plentiful and well organised. All staff provided great service.

We loved this hotel, there was indoor swimming which was great, room was really nice altho instead of double bed we had 2 singles pushed together and same with cover 2 singles inside double cover, but over all we really enjoyed out stay and would deffo go again. the check in staff were simply the best I have ever experienced. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My ony slight gripe about the whole stay was that the gym charged 50p for towels (you can bring them from your roo for free) and that whilst we stayed, the male changing rooms were out of action and no alternative arrangements had been made for lockers […] (the gym staff didn't seem bothered). The same sentiment was expressed by all we spoke with, the temperature was just too hot. We had left the window open, it was freezing cold outside, and unbearably hot to sleep - since the bedding consisted of one pretty heavy duvet, it would have been nice to have had the use of a single sheet. We stayed just one night as we had booked to see a concert at the Winter Gardens. The hotel has a good location - only a 10 minute walk to the Winter Gardens, The Tower and Harry Ramsdens. Also it is sufficiently away from the action ie the many stag and hen parties in town. Lovely large old hotel, lots of character. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was ok - not the best but we were given a £5 voucher for breakfast, coffee was appalling - served in a teapot! Nice spacious dining area. Outside area of the hotel was good. Right on the seafront. Room was spacious. The window could only be held open by a piece of wood and then […] when closed it was difficult to open again. Bar was olde worldy - very nice - quiet. Two couples staying for two nights, we selected the hotel pretty much at random. At first glance the hotel is imposing - a real grande dame - but closer inspection shows the cracks - literally. The staff are friendly, if not the most efficient. Reception seems to be staffed sporadically and if you arrive while no-one's there, it's just a matter of […] waiting until someone appears. First impressions of the Hotel are how grand it looks compared too many others on the Seafront. It is obvious that this was an impressive Hotel many years ago but is currently undergoing a good deal of maintenance. The lifts were out of order but they were being worked on. The room we were given, 206, had a side view of a flat roof which was not particularly inviting but you don’t go to Black pool to look out of the Hotel window all day. The room was extremely clean, not modern by any stretch of the imagination but comfortable. Short or long stay and for Blackpool where you can pay more for a good deal less I would recommend this hotel as it has a charm which is difficult to explain. We stayed at this hotel for my boyfriends 21st birthday and we both really enjoyed it, I was impressed with the style of the hotel and really liked the location, we would go back here, loved it

Great hotel, for the price of a cheap b&b this hotel was great. My party had 4 rooms, all with sea view. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel is about a ten minute walk to the tower, and town centre where all the main bars are. Def would stay there again.

The hotel was very nice but the rooms were very hot.All night we left the window open but still too hot and we could not sleep.Also breakfast was not very impressive.It is good for people who like Full English breakfast.I think it should be continental.It was not good for me at all.

Stayed in Blackpool for the bank holiday Sunday with my Boyfriend. Was a bit worried as people kept saying bad things about Blackpool. On arriving i was really pleased with the hotel, the Hilton is next door and looks no where near as nice. Room was small but very clean. Walked along to the Pleasure Beach which is over a mile from the hotel (nice walk along the sea front) and really enjoyed it, found Blackppol overall very clean, had a great day at the fair and went for fish and chips. At night we went down to the spa which was small but very clean and we just relaxed in the jacuzzi. Breakfast was nice and there was a good mix of food. Only bad point was that we were only given 1 bath towel and there was 2 of us (not much to complain about). Overall really nice hotel, clean and quiet. Would reccoment to everyone as this is by far the nicest hotel in Blackpool, great for couples who want a stroll along the front. x Les mer

When we arrived at the hotel I was really happy the way it is set out. Very impressive!! I stayed in the premier room, and although it was very comfortable, it was no different than the standard room other then you get bathrobes(which we had to ask for as they forgot to supply them to us). The only problem with the room was that the windows had been […] screwed in so that you could not open them at all. This made it very uncomfortable to sleep at night as the room was far too hot and muggy. The lift at this hotel kept breaking though so I'd be wary of that! However, I would not go back here in the summer beacause of how hot the room was, maybe it would be a good hotel for the winter. Les mer

We stayed at the hotel this weekend - sat and sun night. We arrived in Blackpool on sat morning by the Pleasure Beach, (near South Pier) and drove along the promenade to find the hotel. It took us a while to find it as it was right at the other end of the road (near north Pier). At first, we thought it was a bit far but it was only about 5 minutes walk […] from North Pier. Not impressed at all,very tired old hotel,we got into the lift press the button the doors close half way,went into room only one set of towels,so phoned house cleaning no answer,4 rings later decided to go to reception to ask they apologised ,3 hours later still no towels,table in room collapsed,4 of the 8 lights were not working,loo roll holder hanging […] off the wall.no message service all of the masseuses were on a course (good management there food very over priced and not off good quality. overall hotel 3 star are room 2 star not worth the money Les mer

arrived to friendly reception staff, booking in was quick, rooms are a bit tired, but for the price was o.k. 家族での旅行でしたが私一人が泊まりました。歴史の有るホテルという現地からの情報もあり選択しましたが言い換えれば古いホテル、党大会も開かれると言われる伝統は今ひとつホスピタリティーには生かされていないような気がしました。接客態度はわるくないし、部屋では相当がっかりしましたが朝食は（一般的なイングリッシュブレックファーストでしたが）どれも暖かい物は暖かく基本的には満足。レストランでの接客対応も◎でした。それでもやっと全体的には平均点。４月初旬でもあり宿泊はほとんどが老夫婦。都市のシティホテルのスマートなホスピタリティーをお望みの方々にはとてもお勧め出来ません。夏に行けばもっと活気の有るロビーだったりメンテナンスも行き届いているのかもしれません。そう言った意味で料金的にはなるほどなあと行った料金で […] した。最もマイナス要因は部屋のシャワーカーテンにクモの巣がはっていた点でかなりショックを受けました。 Les mer

Het hotel is een prachig gebouw in Victoriaanse stijl. De kamers zijn schoon, het ontbijt is voornamelijk gericht op de Engels, ik miste enige vorm van vleeswaren en wat brood betreft was er alleen toast en croissants, verder was het ontbijt wel heel goed en alles werd goed aangevuld. Jammer dat de serveersters erg jong en onervaren waren, dit kwam […] nogal onprofessioneel over. Al met al heb ik een hele goede week gehad en ik zal zeker nog eens terug gaan om van de Victoriaanse sfeer van het hotel te proeven. Het is gunstig gelegen op loopafstand van, doch buiten de massale drukte van het centrum. De tram stopt voor de deur. Ik ben een bevoorrecht persoon omdat ik vijftien jaar geleden twee maanden in dit hotel heb mogen wonen en werken en wel op het secretariaat van de general manager.
