My main concern with the hotel was its location. It is in the south-west of the City (London financial district). It was a 5-10 minute walk to the Canary Wharf metro station.From here it was possible to take the Jubile line to the centre of London. On a recent v isit to London, part business, part pleasure I left my accommodation booking until a week before I was due to go and therefore , because it was London fully expected to pay through the nose. I needn't have worried because I got a fantastic room rate. The room and hotel were great and in a good location. This Hotel is in a fantastic prime location within Canary Wharf. It's within walking distance of Canary Wharf underground Station,CW shopping centre & CW DLR & Heron DLR, although South Quays DLR is a bit closer. I felt very safe walking the streets here late at night. Yes- there is a lot of noise from the DLR, but you are in a city and noise is expected. […] Other Hotels are even closer to the DLR tracks. Request a room overlooking street to minimise noise. DLR runs from 530am -midnight approx.Staff are very helpful and professional. Decor is heavy Mahogony furntiture,gold gilt and carpets-luxurious comfort in my opinion.. so if you want 'Smooth Clean and Cream ' the modern look- then stay away. But yes- the pillows are brutal. Bar and lobby was very comfortable. I didn't dine in the hotel or use the hotel pool/spa. This Hotel represented excellent value for money. I'll be back. Les mer

One of the best if not THE best I've stayed in!!

After reading some of the very negative reviews I was a little worried about the quality of this hotel. As it turned out yes the rooms show some wear and tear, but the staff was very professional and the price was very competitive. I spent three days/nights at this hotel recently. I arrived at 9am, several hours before the published time for check in, but the extremely helpful staff let me check in and upgraded my room to a twin. I was hugely impressed and enormously grateful as I ahd just arrived from Oz. Excellent hotel in general in fact. We have just had a perfect 6days in this hotel.All staff were excellent with anything we wanted,nothing was too much trouble.Easy to get anywhere in London with the Docklands Light Railway so near.We cannot wait to go again

I needed a small hotel for a job in london, prices can be extortionate in the city so it came in at a good price of £200 for 3 nights with a decent link to Bank via the DLR which runs from 5:30am. Room was boiling hot, air con didnt work, hotel didnt really seem that bothered about dealing with the issue and the first nights sleep was awful as I was […] roasting in 28deg temperatures. Second night was different though as I used a leatherman tool to open the window, making airflow a lot better and comfort resumed. Beds are clean but firm, bathroom is simple and functional, gym downstairs is reasonably well equipped but costs £4 to use. Free wifi, although slow, cant grumble. Two lifts were broken during my stay leaving only one to fend for all the guests. Overall, if you want an affordable stay in London, better than a travelbodge or holidaybin then its alright, loads of food nearby in Canary Wharf and as such, I would stay again if I needed to Les mer

We had an early check inn. Staff were friendly. Rooms clean and neat. Tube station a slight walk, but still not very far for london standards. Would be nice if pool was free for guests. Overall a pleasant stay.

The price for the rooms was very manageable. The hotel is less than a 5 min walk to Canary Wharf which is a major subway/rail station. The hotel and staff was better than I expected based on previous reviews.

Most hotels in Canary Wharf are overpriced but the International offers excellent value when booked via Hotels.com. It is clean and tidy and comfortable.

This hotel is very poor. Check-In is needlessly slow and laborious, the food is appalling; breakfast is the worst you'll ever have and the room service food made me ill. There is an extra charge (£4 per session) to use the gym. If the gym was amazing then maybe they could justify this but it's average at best. The room I had was next to the DLR line […] which will disturb your sleep, as the hotel rooms are not fitted with adequate windows. If you are on business, there is a lack of plug sockets at the desk area of them room. All in all, i did not enjoy my stay and will not be returning. Les mer

This hotel is idea for the O2 arena as only 1 stop away on tube, The hotel itself is clean, but the standard of decor is very poor and dated considering its high tech neighbours, The room was clean and quite comfortable but i had to put up with noisy neighbours from either side, so had very little sleep and left the next morning feeling tired rather […] than relaxed, walls there seem to be paper thin.Reception staff were polite and presentable. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The reviews to date in Hotels.com do not do the hotel justice. The staff were friendly and efficient and our room was excellent - the bed was comfortable and it was great to have a decent shower. Great location - one tube stop from the O2, the hotel itself is fine although the rooms we were in were a bit tired looking, but apart from that no major issues whatsoever. The italian restaurant was very good, room service great, also happy that the bar stayed open late so we coould grab a couple of beers after the gig.....all in all a great stay in […] London. Shabby, dirty, smelly, run-down, tiny room - what more need I say..? The whole hotel needs a refurb.

i chose this hotel as it was crucial to have Wifi Internet access in the room during my stay , and during the 3 days the access was down. Really made it difficult for me to work.

I was a little worried about booking this hotel after reading the mixed reviews, however although I agree the hotels furnishings are becoming a little tired, we found the room clean and comfortable and in an ideal location to get to the 02. I would however recommend looking up directions before your stay as it took us a while to find it (completely […] are fault for not researching this) All in all an enjoyable stay! Les mer

Nice hotel, good comfort. Close to Tube and DLR at Canary Wharf or South Quay Alternatively if arriving at Stanstead, take coach or train to London Liverpool Street and then the 135 bus towards Crossharbor - it stops quite close to the hotel and is a lot easier than going up and down the stairs at Bank tube station. Were a little worried reading some mixed reviews but we had a great nights stay at this hotel. Room on 9th floor was clean, spacious, quiet and overall very comfortable. We also had nice view of river. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Yes perhaps the bathroom was a little dated and there was no mini bar but we had a large flat screen tv, good firm […] matress, tea/coffee and good quality bath towels. The hotel room was freezing 17 degrees when I arrived. They gave me a heater blower. What an energy waste as the airconditioner was still switched on. Further it took them 30 hours to deblock the hand baisin. At least they did clean the swimming pool on Wednesday but that was too late as on Tuesday it was dirty around the edge of the pool. I went 5 […] times down to rhe reception to tell them that the internet access point wans't working on the 6th floor. After 24 hours they realised that they had to forward to message to their computer expert. I guess they thought I'm a woman and so didn't react immediately??!! I thought I would at least get a real Italian Pizza, but that was more chewingum than cheese. All in all I'm very disappointed and ended up with a terrible cold. Les mer

Great location by River Thames,restaurants,shopping and underground/dlr all a short stroll away.

My hotel experience began when I was given a free upgrade simply because they had a larger room available that evening. I never asked for such a kindness, and never would have expected it, as I booked on a discounted fare. But you could tell the staff took pride in the processes which were established to make all guests feel more welcome and cared for. […] The second phase of my hotel experience happened upon entering the room. The room was very large, the bathroom spotlessly clean, the bed was king sized, and the view was lovely (for the area of London it is in). Some city noise penetrated in from time to time (sirens) but it was certainly a quiet night of sleeping. The only drawback I could find was that the windows didn't open and I typically require fresh air to sleep. Les mer

well priced, good hotel

Can recommend it, no problems. Nothing outstanding but a match for all others of the same price bracket. One highlight, the pizzas, excellent!

I loved the location but this hotel has missed the mark on why people stay at a hotel to begin with. People stay at a hotel to get a restful sleep,.. period. It does not matter how good your rate is or how good or bad surroundings. If the bed is terrible the entire experience is terrible. I could put up with the Black Duct tape holding the carpet edges […] down, the old out dated furniture and even the annoyingly load HVAC that had to be shut off to sleep. What I will never understand is why a hotel in such a nice area would be both run down and more importantly miss the most important part of the hotel experience,... a good nights sleep on a great mattress. It is far cheaper to spend on a mattress then a reno. Everyone will remember and talk about a great sleep at a hotel and forgive the surroundings. But if you have both a rundown interior and hard squeaky mattresses that provide no comfort at all. This is a recipe for me never going back again and ensuring none of my colleagues go either. Note to the owners of the International Hotel ensure that your customers have a great sleep and the rest will fall into place. Les mer

Although this hotel is rated 4 star, I was very disappointed in the room. Very dingy even with all the lights on; the beds were the smallest single beds I've ever seen. Food was absolutely horrible. The buffet was a huge disappointment. Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel at all.

The International Hotel is well situated in Canary Wharf just 4/5 minutes walk to the DLR/Underground stations. My room was on the 11th floor with a great view over the water towards the O2. A very good quality hotel representing excellent value for money.

This was a first class hotel to stay in. The staff were friendly and most helpful. The room was excellent clean and tidy. no problem about staying here and very handy for the underground train.

When I arrived I found the hotel to be clean and well maintained, the room tidy and welcoming and the view excellent. The local tube station caused me only a minimal disturbance with the noise levels. On the downside I failed to have the preordered wine delivered to my room as requested and even when chased it still failed to turn up. I found in the […] end that it was easier to order it at the bar as there were problems with the system, for my reward I was charged an additional £9 for the wine as it was no longer an internet order. I was also charged for a meal I didn't eat and found that making my point known to the staff required some patience on my part due in part to a language problem with the staff. Although resolved to my satisfaction this did never the less spoil what should have been a great weekend away. Les mer

It's close proximity to Canary Wharf and the tube station with the same name made access easy. Even with luggage it's only a short walk to the hotel. We only stayed one night. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room and hotel decoration is a bit dated but well maintained. You won't go wrong staying there.

Receptionist was very helpful, welcoming and friendly the other staff surly and unhelpful. Especially in the restaurant at breakfast time and in the pizzeria in the evenings - its very much take it or leave it attitude which is quite poor really.

Overall great stay, location, malls, restaurants, bars, transport, safe for walking, and of course Internet. Worth getting weekly oyster zoned card for transport. complaints - breakfast was not worth the cost, buffet too limited and no variety bathroom ceiling dripped in 2 places No safe in room

Lovely hotel, directions could be a little clearer but good for exploring Docklands, fantastic location for the O2 and only 1 tube change to central London. Our room was situated over the aircon system and the noise disrupted a good night's sleep but it has to be said that the bed also wasn't very comfortable! I stayed on business for 7 nights. My room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The easy chairs weren't really good enough to relax in and it wasn't comfortable enough to relax and watch TV on. My only complaint would be able the 'Free WiFi'. Coverage is only available in certain areas and could do with some investment to ensure good coverage across […] the hotel. All that said, I will be staying here again as it is located only a short walk from the DLR, underground station and the shopping outlets. Les mer

Charming reception staff upgraded our room to a deluxe suite. Room was very comfortable and overlooked the water. Super breakfast in room. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay and will return!

A reasonably priced hotel - roomy and clean. Furnishings were a little old-fashioned and some noise from the nearby tube could be heard in the room.

Hotel is in a good location easy to get to from metro, lobby is nice. room was not great, carpet looked old, wall paper peeling off wall, mattress was thin and hard. they do have a flat screen tv in room and the room was large with a nice view of river. we were on the same side as the metro at times you could hear the train go by but it did not bother […] us. there is a good value to use their health club either per day or per week. we ate at the pizza place twice and loved it. there are also two other restaurants in the hotel which is convenient. depending on the day the staff was either helpful and nice or snobby. the bathroom appeared fairly new which was nice. i would look else where before staying again- but if the price was right i might. Hotel was very nice, but very expensive and pretty far away from downtown London. Luckily there was an underground stop nearby.

I already explained that they CHARGE FOR EVERYHING like Parking, Internet, Safe Deposit Box, etc, And if you ask them to FIX THE WATER PRESSURE 3 TIMES they just IGNORE YOU

The Hotel is not BAD but for the price they charge and ALL THE EXTRAS it is a RIPP OFF They Charge for the sfety box, they charge for the parking, they charge for INTERNET and if you tell them to FIX THE PRESSURE ON THE SHOWER 3 times, THEY IGNORE YOU and not even apologized or anything TOO BAD Next time the Hilton Next door looks better and the same […] price Les mer

This hotel is in serious need of an overhaul of decor in the restaurant and bar. Additionally the rooms are old and worn. Noise from the DLR is intrusive. If you are on a budget then it is fine; but it is also far from comfortable and breakfast is also budget, poor quality and service.
