Scottsdale Cottonwoods Resort & Suites - Scottsdale

We stayed at the resort for barrett jackson and we both were very happy with the price and location. The rooms were nice and beds were awesome. The dining in the resorts perimeter were very good. Would of liked to stay longer but they were full and had to move on after a few days stay.

A lovely place with quaint accommodations and friendly staff. I forgot my cellphone charger and ask if was found,it was and was returned with in two days by FEDX.. Now that's nice!!

The place is old and is being run into the ground. Every where you look something is broken. Then you have to pay a mandatory $15 a day for 2 waters, a USA Today (M_F) internet, use of the business center and coffee for the room! The room was musty from water leaking, would not go away. Definitely a 1 star experience at a 3 star price, and to call it […] a Resort is really stretching i. Les mer

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Everything about the hotel was a plus... First, the room was clean, attractive, quiet, and comfortable. The bed was just right--not too hard or soft.

I was pleased with our stay at this hotel. The grounds were beautiful and clean. The bed was a little too soft for my liking and my son said the same about his. Others may like this though. Other than that I liked the room. It was clean and well worth the price I paid. Next time we plan to stay longer.

We enjoyed our short stay. The one thing that bothered us a bit was the dead bolt lock on the back door that we did NOT have a key for! My husband is a retired Fireman and if there was a fire in the front we would not have been able to get out of the room. Also 1 bar of soap for both tub and sink and 2 people was not adequate.

Great great situation, especially for the money; all the rooms were cabana style and great. Nice area.

I will definitely stay here again. Well maintained for older resort but very clean and comfortable. The pool is nice too! Fantastic location and close to many shops.

The hotel was so bad I got an other room at the Hilton accross the street . The grounds & pool were nice. However, the room was not, it looked as if it had last been remolded in the 80s , The room was dirty and in need of cleaning and some paint .The outside spa was drained and closed off. The staff was professional and helpful.

Staff is friendly, accommodations were clean and comfy. Could use more ice machines:)

This hotel claims to be a resort. They even charge an additional resort fee per day at the location, not included in the initial price. It looks like a rundown apartment complex. The room was dirty - stained carpet, beer bottles under the sink, dirty linens in the closet. The walls are thin. I'd have preferred a cheap motel...at least I'd have known […] what I was in for and it would have been the same experience for substantially cheaper. Les mer

The hotel was clean, quiet and in a beautiful area with many areas of interest in close proximity. However, the little things can be mighty important... such as no creamer with the coffee maker. We only needed a place to flop after midnight mass before traveling 80 more miles back to our home town. I surely missed that creamer. The beds were lumpy […] and not anywhere near firm (basically and dip in the middle of each). They need replaced. The hotel fee (that was in the fine print) of the online reservation should be in large print. Our "deal" did not turn out to be such a deal after discovering this at the hotel check-in. Les mer

Our first room had a horrible smell, they charged a resort/wirelerss/parking fee, there were feathers in back of the night stand from the feather quitls and the next room, the heater was so loud we couldn not sleep!

Cottonwood is way past its prime. It's damp and dreary. The bathroom is bad, the cabinet doors were barely hanging on. The property signage is poor. Even the bellman had a hard time finding my room. The front desk person was nice but lacked professionalism. Additionally I had a couple of questions and issues which she didn't have the authority to take […] care of for me. I will never stay there again. I would like it if Hotels.com didn't participate with this property so I could be sure that I wouldn't get stuck here in the future. Les mer

Not sure why but they had some kind of mattres on the top of the mattress. Sleeping on this bed reminded me of how people were intoragated with sleep deprivation. This was the worst 3 days of sleep in my life. As far as the over all resort. It was old and the room smelled like mold. It was moisture in it. The hotel is a little old and needs some plumbing maintenance , but other than that, The staff & overall location/surroundings , the cottages/rooms were great.

I was extremely dissapointed to find out that there was an additional (resort) fee of $15.00 plus tax for which i was not aware. I do not appreciate hidden fees.

I have sated here a few times. If you like a quiet place to stay this is for you. There are restaurants you can walk to and an amazing spa salon you can walk to.

The Scottsdale Cottonwoods Resort is a very nicey hotel. Property is beautiful and layout of rooms is very pleasant. Amenities looked nice even though they were not used at the time of the visit. Location is excellent and close to restaurants and bus line, if desired. I would definitely recommend this hotel resort as an excellent place to stay.

This hotel has lovely grounds, & is close to Old Town. You can walk to several restaurants and stores as well, including Trader Joe's. Since the casita room we stayed in had a kitchenette, that was a nice option for us. The room was very quiet and had a nice front and back porch to sit out and soak up the sun! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds are kept up very nice. The only thing I could suggest would be to have room service available on the grounds and a restuarant that stays open late.

A very comfortable property with lots of amenities. It clearly is an older resort but it was clean and quiet with lots of restaurants and stores nearby. I would definitely go back.

the curtains and carpet were stained, the tub was cracked and rusty. The bathroom was dusty and dirty. I was disgusted and ended up leaving early.

I have stayed at many resorts in the area and this is now one of my favorite. I appreciate the wonderful customer service. I also got a ride to a lounge close by in your courtesy car. I really liked the price through hotels.com.

We have made an annual trek to the Scottsdale area and have stayed at this resort each time. We love the location...great resturants and shopping within walking distance. We love the individual cottages set in a pleasant atmosphere and having two rooms in each suite gives us privacy when needed.

This is a fabulous location -so close to the best shopping, restaurants and recreation in AZ. The grounds of the resort are wonderful and the casita style rooms are much nicer than a highrise resort.

The hotel write up seems great but watch out. You will have to pay a resort fee at check out. The fee basically gives you the internet and bad tv. The private jacuzzis are all closed due to some lame law. the suite is not sweet as it doesn't even have a microwave. The tiny refrigerator wouldn't open all the so the water catch below the ice tray spills […] and leaks. You do get a free bottle of water a day. They charge for every person in the room over two people. Very disappointed ! Les mer

I had a family get together over Thanksgiving and needed a large space for all of us to meet. We stayed in the larger Casita with the full kitchen which was very convenient. The kitchen was fine except the "kitchen kit" was not very adequate, however we got by. The refrigerator was not level and the door scraped on the floor whenever it was opened. […] The hideabed was old and not very comfortable to sit on or sleep on but again adequate. The internet connection in the room was wired but would only handle a phone connection, not an ISDN cable but I was able to get a wireless connection via the reception area. The location in Scottsdale was great, the pool and hot tub were awesome. Like I said, for the price this was great buy especially for 6 of us, including 4 kids. I do think that the $15 per day resort fee was to high considering what you get as part of that. Les mer

We Arrived at the resort late friday night and they did not have a room for my family that was book weeks ahead of time. Offerred a room with one bed not two as wanted with 2 adults and 2 children, they wanted us to move to another room the next night. When we weren't happy with that they offered us a villa. At first tought it would be great until we […] looked at it. It was an old run down house the floors and carpet were dirty. We stayed anyway being it was so late with not much choice. In the morning tried to take a shower and the tub was seperated from the wall and had water all under it. Tried taking one in the front bathroom and did not have enough water pressure to take one. Tried the pool house shower and there were dirty towels in it and the sink had hair and fake eyelashes on it. The tile counters in the kitchen and bath had the color and patterns worn off. The place was disgusting! Contacted the front desk and they were not very simpathetic about it. It is a very old resort with run down rooms and would not recomend it to anyone. Les mer

The pictures on the website make it look really nice & luxurious! Not the case. When we first arrived they had no room for us they were fully booked. They gave us a hacienda house to stay in. This house was something like out of a horror movie. Windows were cracked and the wind whistled thru the cracks, very dirty, dirty towels laying all over. In the […] morning when trying to take a shower the walls from the shower stall pulled away from the walls enclosing me between the stall, dirty water came in from underneath the shower stall where it all came apart. The second bathroom was dirty and did not work. The shower in the pool house was even more dirty if that could be with fake eyelashes, towels, under garments laying on the floor. That shower was so dirty it did not look creme colored let alone white. The water from the shower head barely came out-dribbled. At this point we had enough and were finally moved to the suite we asked for. It was really dated, old, dirty, service horrible they don't care. When we walked into the suite i wanted to cry. The floors were dirty and had huge cracks in them, the walls looked like a messed up spackle job, the kitchen was a nightmare, nasty and if you really wanted to cook or anything else there are no cooking utensils in the room you must call housekeeping to ask for what you may need, which is very inconvenient and housekeeping is not there all hours. The bathroom outdated as the rest of the place long black hairs were everywhere on the floor, in the tub & in the sink. When we took a shower the water would not drain there was gunk and hair all stuck in it. I called front desk to report and someone was going to take care of the problem. When arriving back to our suite they had already been there and gone, the hairs all over and the bathtub problem were still there and exactly where they were before which tells me no cleaning was done. Great place to stay for a reasonable price!

The front desk staff was very unfriendly. We booked 2 rooms together and another friend joined us. Needless to say none of our rooms were near one another. The front desk people did nothing to make our stay enjoyable. When I arrived at my room the housekeeper had left the door open. It was half cleaned, the floors were dirty and 2 pillows were in the […] sink. Yuk! The beds are double and need replacing. They have feather bedding but it is too hot for Arizona. Which reminds me, the AC did not work. The rooms would not cool below 67 and the fan did not run. It would click off after 10 minutes leaving the room hot and stuffy. You had to adjust it all night long. All 3 rooms had this problem. The layout of the buildings were nice and it was in a nice section of Scotsdale but there are better resorts for the money. FYI the resort fees are now $15/night not $10/night. Les mer

Seems to not have been updated since we stayed there 30 years ago. Nice setting, just don't expect it to live up to it's 'resort' name. Oh yeah, don't forget those hidden 'resort fees'. Lot's of better choices in Scottsdale... or maybe just stay in your car, at least it wouldn't smell as bad.

Stayed here for a night and found it to be a really nice experience. The room was comfortable but the real highlight was the friendly member of staff at the poolside bar, who went out of her way to serve us food and drinks even though we arrived just after closing time. She really engaged with all the customers and I could tell everyone else appreciated […] her friendliness too. Les mer

Lovely grounds, quiet walking paths, great 1 acre pool and hot tub with spectacular seating. I will stay there again every chance I get!

The stay was very comfortable, the people who worked there were all very friendly as well. The only problem was the refridgerator, the smell was bad and it didn't work. I enjoyed the privacy though.

This is a nice resortwith pleasent grounds surrounding the cottages. It is an older resort that is well kept up and comfprtable. Great for a romantic get away.

I get to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area frequently for business, and this is at least my fourth stay at The Cottonwoods. For the price, I find that it's unrivaled for value, particulary in Scottsdale. I find it is consistently among the value leaders when comparing it to other options--and with multiple stays, I appreciate the consistency of the hotel […] and staff. On the plus side is very nice landscaping, very comfortable rooms, great beds and a super convenient location. I've used the nice A-Jays supermarket which is just a two block walk directly north from the hotel for snacks, breakfast and lunch. On the downside, the rooms remain a little dated (but clean), no flat screen tv's, and the usual "resort fee"--which is too common at hotels today, and another way to squeeze a few bucks from guests. In short---I will keep it at the top of my list of choices, as it is always a very comfortable stay, with friendly staff and a great value. Finally--the location is extremely close to Old Town Scottsdale and Fashion Square, Kierland Commons to the north, and a few minutes from the beltway, if you need to get to downtown Phoenix. Les mer

We stayed here with our 2 young children (2 & 4). The premier casita suite was really big with a living rm and a kitchen with small eating area. It was perfect for our weekend of family activities. Also it is a very short walk to a Trader Joes, a bagel place and several restaurants. The rooms are pretty spread out but have nice grassy areas in between. […] Our room even had a patio to sit at and have coffee. This is not a fancy place by any stretch but it was a great find, we will be back. Les mer

This Resort is definitly past its prime. The rooms are old, the beds sag, the stucco is pealing off the exterior. It was probably a nice place in its day, but that day has past. The private Hot Tub was empty and full of leaves, not appealing.
