St George Lycabettus Hotel - Aten

Great hotel, great price, it's in a desirable neighborhood, close enough to the Acropolis and other sights. I'd highly recommend!

It's an old hotel which was refurbished some time ago! The room was very cold, the heating wasn't working! In the morning we were up from 7:00am from the noises in the corridors mainly by the cleaners! Very expensive breakfast!

The St. George Lycabettus is a very good hotel, with a fine, helpful staff on all levels. They responded very well when there was a serious, loud argument in the room and hall adjacent to our room. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with an incredible view of the Acropois and Parthenon. I do recommend that you include the breakfast in the room charge […] for 10 Euros. The location on the side of Lycabettus hill is away from the bustle of Konaraki square and a cab ride to the Plaka and Acropolis, but a short walk to the the Konaraki district. We found it to be a great choice at the Expedia rates. The free wi-fi could be better, however. We had to upgrade to the paid wi-fi for 18 Euros per 24 hour period for an internet conference. The hotel has a beautiful ambience and the location is amazing, with views of the Acropolis. Staff were pleasant & helpful and the breakfast was very good. The main difficulty of this hotel is the design of the room. There was little storage - despite having cabinets bedside and for the TV, none of these opened to use for storage. Also, the bathroom […] design was not comfortable - not a full shower closure but a half-glass door and the lighting over the vanity was harsh and uncomfortable. These features would not outweigh the location and ambience of the hotel, but they were annoying. Although at first it seemed that the hotel was a bit out of the way, we discovered that it was actually pretty convenient to many Athens neighborhoods and sites. But it is up on the hill, so if someone doesn't like to walk uphill, it could be a problem, although taxis were readily available. Les mer

An excellent 360 degree view of Athens from the bar and restaurant on the top floor. A high quality hotel available on that day at a very reasonable price. As hills all around only suitable for the fit.

I had the most wonderful stay at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Athens. The location was convenient, the staff were incredibly helpful and polite and the view was phenomenal. I was only disturbed by the large American travelling party that have no regard for other people and made quite a bit of noise in the late hours. Perfect location in upscale Kolonaki neighborhood yet within walking distance to Plaka, Syntagma and Acropolis. Wonderful small museum, Museo Benaki, is a 5 min walk from hotel

I paid for a room with a view. I got a view of a construction crane. I expressed disappointment to the manager and he said I booked for an inside room. He offered to change me to room with a view.... The view of a tree close enough to block out the entire Parthenon. Later when I showed him my Expedia booking confirmation, he said that is what I got. 9 […] Euros for a beer? Are you kidding me? I understand they will charge somewhat more than the street, but I could buy the beer downtown for a Euro twenty. 5 Euros I understand; 9 no. They also charge you 3.5 Euros to call a cab.... The hotel is very nice with numerous amenities expected at a 5-star hotel, and the staff at the hotel were fabulous - they went out of their way several times to help us. However, the rooms are very small and the furniture in the rooms appear to have been purchased based on appearance and were not functional in these small rooms. We had to move furniture […] around several times to get through the room and/or open the door to the balcony. We paid extra for a "deluxe view room" thinking we would have a view of the Acroplis, but instead had a vew of the construction site next door. The Acropolis view room was even more money, but that wasn't clear at the time I booked the reservation. The view from the roof is spectacular, but the food in the restaurant was very expensive. My parents had breakfast one day at $22 euros each #almost $60 American#. Also, they closed the pool deck #top floor# before sunset so you couldn't go up there for the night view. Although the hotel is close to City Center, is is on the side of a hill so walking to the City Center is easy, but the hike back up the hill is rough. Les mer

This hotel may not be truly be a 5* hotel however the location is fantastic. Roof top views of Athens and its suburbs and of course the Acropolis. Walking distance (no more than 5 minutes) to Kolonaki, which bustles with good restaurants, cafes and shops. Rooms are really small. You can't open the fridge door properly as there is no enough space... NO PRIVACY. You hear the neighbours talking in next room all he time. Carpets look old and dirty... I was expecting something better...

The rooms that claim to be 'courtyard view' ....do not be fooled there is no courtyard as such - there is a central well that houses all the chambermaid trolleys so if you are lucky enough to have your window open - these will wake you each morning at 0730!! The hotel has a great view of the Acropolis. Food and service was good, but the hotel is in desperate need of some maintenance and up keeping. The decor is nice but wasd done a long time ago and not much has been done to maintain the look.

I requested an upgrade room and paid a surcharge for this. Very ordinary room with ghastly outlook, dim and dismal and only one pillow For a hotel rated 5 star, this was not what I was looking for. No access to food until 7.30 pm - way to late if u have been travelling all day and need to eat. This review is for Hotels.com rather than the public domain […] - if your suppliers are charging for upgraded rooms then we should get what we pay for. This is one of those hotels that looks great in the lobby. I had to move rooms because the first room I got smelled like an ashtray. They were very fast, and moved me right away. The TV did not work. The room smelled musty. Those things didn't bother me.... as much as the two (yes, TWO) times that the showerhead fell on me while I was showering. The […] first time, I thought maybe it slipped and it was an accident. It hit me in the middle of my shower, right on top of my head. I didn't bother to tell the staff about it because I thought maybe it was a one-time thing. But, the next morning, the same thing happened. The toilet would not flush very well- you had to pump the handle to make it work. The food was mediocre, overpriced - except for breakfast. The view in the breakfast room is indeed wonderful, and the food is good. Not great, but definitely good. I will say, that when I complained to the manager in the morning, he was apologetic and very nice. He asked what he could do to make it up to me. But I also didn't care much since I was checking out. The staff was very good - polite, concerned, and asked how they could help. The room was immaculate and the cleaning staff did a great job. But overall, I would definitely not stay here again. Paying too much for internet, suffering through the bathroom annoyances - sadly not worth it just for nice staff and a good breakfast. Les mer

The hotel is old and tired. We had mold in our bathroom and the room hasn't been updated in 10 years. The TV set was older than I was. We did have a great view of the Accropolis but the noise from the restaurant/bar below us was really loud. This is no where near a 5 star hotel.

Was pleased with the hotel's location, we were able to walk everywhere (we only took one taxi) and there were plenty of good restaurants and cafes nearby. The rooftop pool was fine - a small area but good to be able to have a dip. The room ( a superior view room) was pretty standard, quite small and the views weren't really worth it. My little brother and I needed to book a hotel right when we arrived in Greece. We saw this hotel and it was rated 5*. The hotel is on a hill and a good 15 min walk to shopping. About 5 mins to food. Take note this is on a hill so climbing back up is not exactly the best experience. The staff were friendly and we paid for an upgrade to a suite. As long as one doesn't mind walking up Lycabetus hill, this hotel is very conveniently located in the center of the city. Try to get the more expensive front facing rooms for great acropolis views.

Hotel St. George Lycabettus was billed as a 5 star hotel, but was not worth the money. The location is OK, but there are many that are much closer to the walking district. The room was nothing special at all. Not particularly comfortable & no character. Paid extra for a view of the street. Staff was friendly & helpful.

Our hotel stay was very pleasant. The hotel is located walking distance from the Acropolis and from several popular shopping areas. The rooms were very nice, the staff was helpful whenever we had a question, and the area was very pleasant.

hotel is nice, well appointed and maintained. The location is a bit futher away from main attractions than i would have liked, and it gets to be a tiring treck up the hill. especilly when it is really hot out. As for the room...no complaints.

We had a great trip to Athens which was our first. Principally we were there for the wedding of a family friend which was a wonderful experience. We chose this hotel as the reception was held here and friends were also staying. The room was nice, compact and clean. Rummen är på sin höjd värda 3 stjärnor. Väldigt nedgånget och knappast modernt. Skum lukt på vårt våningsplan. Varning för att hotellet tar ut väldigt mycket avgifter för extra service (internet på rumme 18 EURO, bagageinlämning 5 EURO, beställa taxi 3 EURO etc). Läget är dock oslagbart.

Μας δυσαρέστησε το γεγονός ότι ενώ είχαμε κρατήσει δωμάτιο καπνιζόντων με διπλό κρεβάτι, μείναμε σε δυο ενωμένα μονά κρεβάτια, καθόλου βολικό και στο δωμάτιο δεν υπήρχε σταχτοδοχείο.

Πολύ καθαρά και άνετα δωμάτια. Εξαιρετικό πρωινό, πολύ καλό σέρβις. Καταπληκτική πανοραμική θέα της Αθήνας με όλα τα αξιοθέατα του κέντρου. Εύκολα προσβάσιμα τα μαγαζιά του κέντρου.

Hotellet har en en helt oslagbar utsikt över Aten och Akropolis - både från restaurangdelen och från takpoolen. Nära till allt, men ta taxi! Den fina utsikten beror på det höga läget. Uppförsbacken hem är grym vid +35 grader... Vårt första rum hade en helt opraktisk layout därför att badrummet (intill sängen) bara hade en enkel glasdörr till badrummet […] utan dörram. No privacy alltså..suck. Men vi fick byta och fick ett fint rum med sidobalkong med underbar utsikt istället. Lite slitet badrum och lite för hårda sängar, men tyst läge. Bra att personalen var så lyhörd! Renligheten var bra. Det lilla takpoolsområdet var helt ok (rent och snyggt) men blir ganska trång mot eftermiddagen. Bistron var vi inte riktigt imponerade av. Maten var sådär och servicen ojämn. Tror att hotellet bytt ägare och verkar förlorat både koll och glans. Men vi fick ju ett kanonpris som motsvarade ett ordinärt fyrstjärnigt hotell.Därför kan jag rekommendera det ( men bara till rabatterat pris). Att hotellen fortfarande tar betalt för frukost ibland kan jag leva med, men att de fortfarande tar betalt för internet är ett skämt.. Les mer

Im Reiseführer stand: "There is no point in coming here if you don´t have a room with a view of the Acropolis". Und das ist absolut richtig. Die Zimmer sind old-fashioned, das Personal snobistisch. Wenn man dann noch einen Raum mit Blick auf die nächste Hauswand hat, fragt man sich, ob man da nicht besser was anderes gebucht hätte.

Nous avons fait un court séjour dans cet hôtel, courant avril. Nous avions pris une chambre standard avec vue sur un joli mur blanc :( décor agréable mais détails à revoir, l'air conditionné ne fonctionnait pas, une chaleur insoutenable dans les couloirs et les chambres alors qu'il faisait frais dehors, on était obligé de consommer leur bouteilles d'eau […] à 8 euros l'unité !!! Ensuite, nous avons été invité à regarder la pleine Lune en dinant sur leur grand balcon pour 39 euros par personne. Ils avaient fermé le balcon par de grosses baches en plastiques (ils avaient froid), ducoup on voyait même pas la lune... on a tout de même pu faire déplacer notre table, dehors, au clair de lune, du coup le "maître d'hotel" faisait un peu la tronche :) et devenait beaucoup moins aimable, le repas n'était pas du fait maison, ça c'est sûr, pomme de terre encore congelé, tapenade sorti de boite... bref, pas génial. Sinon acceuil sympathique, ménage bien fait. je dirai plutôt un trois étoiles ou 3 et demi... dommage. Les mer

Das Haus liegt wunderbar am Fuß des Lykavitos und ist ruhig. Der Service ist relativ unpersönlich. Die Zimmer sind sauber aber etwas abgewohnt.
