We had a great 3-night stay at Hotel Triton. I have to say, I was a bit nervous booking the hotel based on other comments about the size of the rooms, etc. The rooms were small when compared to hotel rooms in other cities, but they were extremely well layed out and the four of us did not feel the least bit cramped. Everything was extremely clean and […] tidy. The lobby of the hotel is very small and not very condusive for spending time in, but luckily most people won't have to spend much time there. All of the staff was extremely helpful. The hotel is in a great location in the city, which made walking to different places a possibility. The guys downstairs are great. Just consider that the traffic is a bit complex for any city like this. Rooms where clean and different, people friendly and kind, what else do you need?

Absolutely charming decor. Clean comfortable rooms. Perfect location. But that is not what we remember . . . It was how we were treated by the people working for this hotel. They were awesome. As we were checking in they asked us why we were here and so we told them we were celebrating our 26th anniversary. Well they upgraded our room to one with a […] view, top floor on the corner. Awesome hotel! Chic decor. Conveniently located in downtown SF. Walking distance from Chinatown & union square! A bit loud at night, but SF has so much you will sleep soundly regardless! Do it!

The hotel is not traditional so it was nice to see something a little different. The staff was very friendly and the bed was comfortable. I would suggest not getting a room next to the ice machine amd there was various noises throughout the night. All in all it was a good stay!

The hotel's decor was unique (part of the reason we booked it) and the hotel staff were very accommodating with any request we had. The location is literally across the street from the Dragon Gate and only a few blocks from Union Square, so the location is great. My only concern was that the hotel didn't have central-air but rather had window units […] in the hotel rooms; I understand that it's an older building but it still seemed odd for a hotel room that cost over $200. Hotel is super cute with lots of fun colors and flare! Complimentary tea and coffee in the morning, cookies in the afternoon and wine in the evening. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. Location was great if you're doing something in the Financial District, theres some cute cafes close by but nothing late night. One major drawback was how loud it […] got at night. Room was clean and comfortable, staff helpful and a great location close to Chinatown, Union Square, etc. Lots of restaurants in a wide range of prices, etc. nearby. Hotel tries a little too hard to convey a "hipster" image but that's a minor point. Bathrooms are very small and could use an upgrade (bathtub was in poor condition, barely enough room for 1 person, don't see how 2 people could manage). Service was excellent.

We stayed in the Hotel Triton during last Christmas. The hotel is conveniently located in the downtown and very near to tourist attractions and public transport routes. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and different in a good way. Even though the room was small you cannot expect more space at the heart of a big, expensive city […] for a low price. The hotel has a unique style of design/decoration. However, I have only one complain- the bathtub took some time to drain after taking a shower. Apart from that, we had a pleasant and memorable stay. We loved staying here. It is right by the gate to Chinatown. The staff were really helpful and the manager's happy hour was very generous! The only thing I didn't like was the "origami" they did with the sheets, wrapping them round the duvet. I hate that. I would still stay there again without hesitation.

We've wanted to stay at this hotel for sometime but it was always fairly expensive. we happened to get a great rate for a Friday night stay. The lobby, hallways, rooms are all uniquly decorated. really nice bed, very clean room. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly, made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, we missed the wine happy hour.Location […] is perfect, a couple short blocks to Union Square. Hope to stay here again. The Triton was fine for a one night stay as the rooms are very small to stay any longer. The last minute rate was great. The hotel needs a facelift as the decor (funky/colorful/whimsical) is looking a bit tired. My 16 year old son however, thought it was very cool!! We couldn't have asked for more. The service was top-notch from the moment we checked in (and got upgraded to a suite) to their recommendations and advice to the complimentary wine tasting and beers sent to our room. We had our dog, who they gave treats & played with. The bell staff and valets went out of their way for us. They gave us free admission […] to the crazy St. Patty's Day party next door. Good hotel. Dislikes: no one at the valet parking stand when we arrived which is on a busy street, bed was okay, more cute than comfortable. Likes: good location, decorated really cute, great service at the front desk, WINDOW OPENS! Love when the hotel window opens!

An old building redecorated in the most clever, funky, and charming ways, Hotel Triton is San Francisco at its creative, funky best. From the Jack Keroac wallpaper to the psychedelic color schemes. That, plus great location and attentive service. A great place to stay downtown.

Very ecclectic hotel. Loved the daily ice water service in the lobby with the afternoon chocolate chip cookies. The staff at the front desk are very helpful in planning your day. The hotel is located close to all of the major tourist locations and shopping. I would definitely go back!

Not only a great boutique hotel, but it has one of the best locations in all of San Francisco. Right by all the cool shops. On Chinatown's doorstep. Right next to Union Square. The staff was exactly as they should be in a San Francisco boutique hotel: Cool, laid-back and extremely personal. They clearly enjoy what they do. No breakfast? No problem! Hotel Triton makes up for the lack of a morning ritual with an amazing Happy Hour conveniently right before dinner time. We'd take a Hot Toddy over scrambled eggs any day -- especially since the Hotel is within walking distance of some of the best dim sum in San Fransisco. The overall best thing about this hotel is the location! The price was reasonable and the room was just what we needed...a place to sleep. The room was small but it was not an issue for us. Wine hour was nice and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

wasn't there long (midnight to 7:30am) but was very satisfied. Room was clean, if small, but perfect for my purpose. No coffee maker in room but in morning complimentary coffee & tea in lobby.

The room was small, of course with a scenic view of an alley. But, I got a terrific rate and expected as much. There was a good bit of late night noise from delivery trucks. I'm a heavy sleeper so it doesn't bother me. My only complaint about the room was that the AC/heating unit was beside the desk at torso level. For a three-star hotel in San Francisco, their prices are amazing. The location is fantastic, with convenient access to cheap quality dining, fine dining, and, best of all, Target! Tiny, tiny room. They've obviously tried to spruce the place up but despite some creative efforts, they've failed. The room, despite all the color, was extremely dreary and claustrophobic. Perhaps other rooms are better. Not the one we were given. We asked for a change in room to something facing the street (I hate nothing more than looking towards […] a brick wall or another room's window), and hopefully larger as we felt it was suffocating (size-wise and smell-wise---you know, that unwelcoming old building smell), but was told that there were no rooms available to upgrade to. Which I knew was not the case as Expedia had rooms available. We could hear sounds coming from other rooms, too. The smoke detector literally hung from the ceiling. Odd and creepy. Customer service was very hit or miss. To their credit, the hotel did send up a bottle of wine to our room for knowing the secret word as found on their Facebook page. They did happily store our luggage as we explored the city after checkout time. Kimpton extras are nice, such as the wine hour (which we were not able to experience). Bright spot is mainly the location (even though there was barely anything to eat at late hours in this area), right next to Chinatown if you're into that sort of thing, close to Union Square, Financial District, Market Street, BART stop, cable cars, etc. Other than location, from my perspective, Hotel Triton doesn't have much going for it. Choose another hotel if you find a similar price. Les mer

The Triton is a funky little hotel in the Kimpton chain. The rooms are small but comfortable and the staff is eager to please. Easy to walk to Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach - its in a good spot.
