Overveldende vakre felles oppholdsrom fra fortidens storhetstid i rokokko og røde silketapeter og mamor, og en drøm av en trappeoppgang med fargede glassvinduer med jugentmotiv mellom etasjene. Rommet var tilfredstillende på alle måter uten luksus men med kvalitet, med forgang og et godt fliselagt bad med alle muligheter for å ta enten et skumbad eller […] dusj. Hotellet ligger perfekt til sentralt til alle serverdigheter. Men hotellet bærer preg av at det er gammelt. Rommet er ok, men litt varmt uten mulighet til å stille temperatur. Servicen hos Frontdesk var veldig dårlig - de var lite oppmerksomme og var ikke interessert i å hjelpe utover innsjekk og utsjekk. Frokost var bra og lokalet generelt var flott, […] bortsett fra heisen som luktet gammelt. Vi vil nok vurdere andre hotell neste gang vi reiser til Roma. Les mer

We paid a high price, and did not get what we expected. The bathroom has not been properly maintained, the bathtub was painted, one of the tw sinks had a crack. This is the room we got after complaining because the first room had no minibar and no safe.

Ikke bruk dette hotellet! Det er dyrt, skittent, dårlig service og lite hyggelig. Hotellet har særdeles god beliggenhet, men det er det eneste hotellet kan være stolt av. At det var fint og praktfullt i gammledager er jeg 100 % sikker på, men i dag fremstår hotellet som max 3 stjerner. Vi hadde ingen spesifikse problemer med hotellet, det var bare […] skjennerelt DÅRLIG. Hvis dere skal ha ett bra gå 400 m ned i gata til HOTELL VALADIER, det er ett 4 stjerner som er særdeles bra! Vi tilbragte 3 netter på Grand Hotel Plaza. Etter vår erfaring er det eneste som er 5 stjernes med dette hotellet lobby/inngangsområdet. Vi fikk et knøttlite og ganske slitent rom, riktignok med en liten terrasse til. Terrassen var forøvrig ikke feid/rengjort på lenge og ble heller ikke rengjort så lenge vi var der. Mye subb og bøss på verandaen og […] flasker etc. ble stående og hope seg opp gjennom oppholdet. Varierende service på hotellet, enkelte hyggelige ansatte og andre som nærmest fremsto som arrogante og svært lite vennlige. Beliggenheten er meget bra, med de fleste serverdigheter i gangavstand. Etter min mening er ikke dette hotellet 5 stjerner verdig, disse stjernene må være tildelt på tidligere meritter og inngangsparti/lobby. I forhold til prisen vil jeg ikke anbefale dette hotellet. Fint gammelt ærverdig hotell med super beliggenhet. Gangavstand til alt som man kan få med seg på en langhelg i Roma. Benytt gjerne hotellets service med henting / bringing på flyplass. Det var veldig ok. Noe varierende på hotellservicen, alt fra super service til de som ikke gadd å si ha det engang når vi sjekket ut. Skal du bestille opphold med frokost […] så ikke gjør det hvis ikke du er veldig glad i kaker! Ingen ordentlig frokost, kun kaker, like greit å finne en hyggelig piazza med full engelsk frokost for en billig penge. Men beliggenheten var knall, knappe 200m til spansketrappen. Vi tok ikke taxi en eneste gang og vi fikk med oss alt fra Colloseum til Vatikanet. Les mer

Fra du går inn svingdørene på Grand hotel Plaza blir man imponert over hotellet. Vi ble møtt av hotellansatte som tok seg av bagasjen fra vi gikk ut av drosjen. Vi hadde et familierom og det var veldig god plass til 3 voksne og 1 barn. Elegante rom og flott bad. Stuen i 1 etg var gedigen. Med malerier og utforminger i taket, flotte salonger osv. Man […] følte at man bodde på et slott. Det eneste som var litt skuffende var frokosten. Mest kaker og lite pålegg. Enkelte steder hvor det var litt gammelt og slitt, men det gjorde ikke noe. Beliggenheten går ikke an å bli bedre. Få minutters gange til flere store attraksjoner. Når jeg skal tilbake til Roma, for det skal jeg, skal jeg bo på dette hotellet igjen. Les mer

If you want to be able to walk to whatever Rome can offer, this is the place for you to stay. Situated at the busy street Via Del Corso, The Grand Hotel Plaza, is historical and fantastic place to catch your breath. We really enjoyed the roof terrace where we could see the sun set every night, but if you are really thirsty, be aware that the waiter […] (the only one) have to run down five floors to make the drinks, and up again to bring them to you...shaken not stirred;) The Grand Hotel plaza is over 150 years old, and when you enter it for the first time it takes your breath away, like so many other things in Rome. The prices are a little bit high, but they are worth it. This is the place we are going to stay the next time we are in Rome, although I forgot to throw the coins in the Trevi fontane, I will be back :) Les mer

The location is perfect ,BUT the hotel is very old and nothing works the shower was terrible the faucet was broken the mattress you could not sleep on it i would give the hotel 2 star i do not recomend it to any one

I was very impressed with the quality of serice / care and the fabulous location.

The hotel lobby & the area adjoining are truly a beautiful sight to behold! The hotel is very conveniently located to great shopping, sidewalk cafes & the Spanish steps. It's also just around the corner from a tour bus stop which we found by ourselves after not being able to understand where the desk personnel had told us to go to for it. There were […] two couples of us traveling together. Their room was very nice but ours had a bad worn wood floor & no shower curtain for the shower/tub so water got on the floor every time we showered. So it had it's good things & bad! Les mer

Arriving at hotel on a Friday we were given a horrible room - floors broken, bathroom dirty. I had to call Hotels.com to have them switch me from rooms. I was then on Saturday at 12 (Noon) moved to a much nicer room. If I had received that room to begin with I wouldn't have had a horrible first evening in Rome. Not much help with tours tho.

It's not a good hotel, nobody welcome you , the breakfast is very light for the price, no room service, and if you want something after 21 h. it's impossible , it's necessary to wait the next morning !!! The only good think it's the position in the city , but not at this price.

this is not a 5 star hotel by any standards i travel by. we had to change rooms. finally on the third room they gave us what we asked for in our reservation reques. hotel is under a major renovation and as a result of poor economy people have to do more than one job. this should not be the conditions of a 5 star hotel!t

Excellent location. In the middle of everything; walking distance to most popular sites. Impressive decor but like all europeans hotel the air con is turned low at night so very warm rooms at night. Cool during day though.

We've stayed in this hotel 3 times in 2005, 2006 and most recently in July 2011. The hotel has not been propely maintained in all this time and is in a desperate need of the renovation. We've looked at 5 different rooms and they were all in the same bad shape - ancient air conditioner that barely works; chipped dry wall and paint; water damaged ceilings; […] old creaking cupboards that seemed to be left from the 1950s. The main reception is tiny and cluttered with unrine smell coming from the carpets. Giving the great location of the hotel and great architectural base of the building the hotel has great potential to be remodelled into a true 5 star establishment it deserves. Based on the current state it could hardly earn 3 stars in our opinion. Les mer

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!! I travel to Italy to see family and friends every year and have the last 20 years. I have stayed in numerous hotels in every major city there. This hotel, sadly, was one of the worst hotels I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. First off, when we checked in (and this remained consistent throughout our 6 night stay) […] there were 2 people taking care of 30 people trying to check in and check out. Those same 2 people also tended to every customer who was calling the desk. I waited over 1 1/2 hours to check in. Once we got into the room, with sweltering heat and humidity, I learned that the A/C was out in many of the rooms. Other rooms that had A/C, were so loud because of the A/C motor, that it was difficult to sleep. One of the bellman advised me that I shouldn't expect everyting in the hotel to work because, after all, the hotel was built in 1860, and I should appreciate the historical value of the property and that should make me happy enough. The service was overall was horrendous. My 70 year old mother, who made the trip with us this year, waited 5 hours after checking in, for towels. The hair dryers in 2 of the 3 rooms I rented were missing. They finally arrived 2 and 3 days later. This is a self-proclaimed 4 or 5 star resort that charges prices for its rooms accordingly. The rooms, service, and amenities, however, were 1 to 2 star caliber at best. I do not write reviews for places I have stayed. This experience was so bad, however, I'm hoping someone in the future will be saved a lot of grief by reading this. Les mer

My wife and I stayed in the Grand Plaza Hotel in Rome for 3 nights in July 2011. Check-in is rather slow with the staff being easily distracted but our room was large, clean and comfortable in an old fashioned way which was what we expected. We made the mistake of having a snack in the hotel bar on arrival (2 teas and 2 ham sandwiches cost €42) but […] learnt from that experience. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of hot and cold foods. The best feature of the hotel was its location. Steeping out into Via del Corso, Via Condotti is literally around the corner leading to the Spanish Steps. Most of the other main attractions are an easy walk away - the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona etc. The Vatican is that much further and requires a bus or taxi. Arriving into the main train station 'Termini' from the airport we made the mistake of taking a taxi to the hotel €25 for a 10 minute ride. Going back we took the metro from Spanish Steps for €1 each! Overall we had a wonderful stay in Rome and would definitely go back and stay in the Grand Plaza because of its location and comfort.. I cannot believe this is listed as a 5 star hotel on hotels.com - unfortunately this is a major weakness in your service. I paid a 5 star rate for a dated, not maintained, overall disappointing hotel. It ruined the stay in Rome.

No room between toilet and shower. you have to be 5 feet tall and 85lbs to fit in the shower. restaurant closed because of wedding hotel should not be rated 5 stars

We were extremely unhappy with this hotel. The staff was incredible rude and the hotel itself was dirty. Dirty carpets, unvacumed rugs, dirty window treatments. Dusty, unkept property. This hotel is very well located and is with easy walking distance of the Coloseum, the Vittorio Emmanuelle, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and is a lovely 15-20 minute stroll from the Vatican. You hardly need to take the Open Top tour bus!. The hotel offered […] us tranquillity and peace each evening as we returned weary from a day's sightseeing. My family had two rooms, each with a spacious balcony and they each had very large bathrooms. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the service overall was excellent. The meeting rooms and the dining room where we had breakfast each morning were from another time back in history and have to be seen to be believed. We found a beautiful quiet terrace on the fifth floor, where we would all sunbath to our hearts content - It was so peaceful and had panoramic views over the roof tops of Rome. We would highly recommend this hotel and would love to go back. Les mer

It was my first trip to Rome and I needed to stay in some place especial. Where? I looked at many: Some too expensive and some did not have a great location. I came across my dream hotel. "The Magnificent Red"! It was as I saw on the photos, a wonderful lobby with paintings that took me to 15 century, and red velvet furniture that made me remember all […] my emails and coffees! Grand Hotel Plaza stands for what it tells you, a wonderful staff who smile regardless, a good service, a central place that makes it easy to walk anywhere especially if one needs to put a coin in Trevi Fountain. The hotel is located in a great place, near the best attractions in Rome, but it's old and looks tired and thay charge like a 5 stars hotel and I'm not sure that it even gets to 4 The staff is friendly and the breakfast is OK. The best thing is that you in the best Turistic part of Rome.

We were very happy with this hotel it is in a great Location close to loads of shops, Restaurants and Bars, the Room was very nice clean and bright, the continental Breakfast is also very good, you can have a Hot Breakfast but it costs extra. The hotel interior is really nice fab ceiling in the Bar area, the only negative comment I would have is there […] is not tea/coffee facilities in the room. Excellent location, hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is fab (although a little expensive) - we went for an executive room which had a balcony (two actually) and was lovely. No tea making facilities but I took my own. The grand reception hall was fantastic and I prefered sitting in there to anywhere else. Had a fab time and a unique experience. Close to anywhere that is anywhere.

Gammalt vackert hotell som tydligen lever på gamla meriter. Personalen i receptionen upplevdes som högdragen och föga serviceminded. TV hade som så ofta på hotell dålig bildkvalitet och alla kanaler fanns inte. Tillgång till internet var inte helt självklar och gavs med en tidsbegänsad kod som dessutom avslutades för tidigt.

レビューでは賛否両論だったので、恐る恐るでしたが、大変満足しました。 繁華街ど真ん中なので、とても楽しめました。 部屋をスーペリアにしたのがよかったのだと思う。古いホテルなのでそれなりに覚悟なしましたが問題なし。朝食も十分。 コンシェルジュが親切でよいレストランを毎晩予約してもらった。プラザからの予約なので席も一番良い席が用意され、とても快適でした。 ホテル代をケチりたい人にはお勧めできません。
