Do we have to take our trash out? (Our trash cans were not emptied every day). If so; where do we take it? (We had to take it to the trash can in the parking lot because there were no trash cans on site) Do we have to remind them every day that there are 4 guests registered in the room and that we need towels for 4?

Eureka, California is not a hot-spot tourist or business destination, so it is not expected that the selection of quality hotels would be wide. The Red Lion is the best of the "basic" hotels in this town. Everything works, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms "standard U.S. hotel" in size and amenities. I found the room clean and adequately […] comfortable. The free hi-speed internet worked fine (although a colleague staying in another room had major problems with band-width). I see some reviews here complain about run-down condition and badly worn rooms - I experienced none of that. The place is not fancy, but it's adequate. I will stay here again when I return. Les mer
"safe, pet friendly lodging"
Excellent hotel experience, well attended to by wonderful staff. Some housekeeping issues, but things will resolve. Very comfortable beds, great sleep. Safe accommodations. Lovely breakfast with good food choices, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes. Muffins, oatmeal, yogurt. The hotel is conveniently located near the city center. The room was clean and bed very comfortable. The price was great for our one night stay.

I had many inexpensive options from which to choose when booking, but chose Red Lion for its reputation and fitness room. I was highly disappointed to get up "early" on Sat. morning in order to work out, only to have to wait until 8:30 for the maintanence man to arrive in order to unlock it. It was in disarray: being refurbished with paint chips on […] the floor, with 2 working treadmills and absolutely nothing else!! Many hotels offer at least the USA Today paper for free: there was a $1 charge for the paper. The "hot water" in the thermos on the front desk for tea was cold, and was not offered for free in the adjoining coffee shop. However, the front office clerk offered to drive us to our vehicle we had left at a friend's home the night before (about 4 miles), which was the only redeeming value! Les mer

"Extremely Satisfied for our needs"
Stayed in this hotel for the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival. it matched our needs perfectly. I stayed in the Eureka Inn the year before. The comfort of the beds was much higher at this hotel. I don't usually sleep when away from home, but I did sleep very well. I will stay here every year. Eureka inn's beds were too hard. They had low lighting and the […] hotel was kind of spooky. However, we didn't need any services from the restaurant or anything so it's hard to judge the service except for check in, which was great. We basically just needed a place to stay from midnight till 9 am and this was great! 4+ stars. Les mer

The red lion in Eureka, Ca was exactly what I needed on my road trip. The staff, especially - Henry the front desk supervisor, were professional, kind and very helpful. Need directions, a restaurant recommendation, a toothbrush they were great. Even the cleaning staff where friendly and acknowledged you instead of trying to blend into the background. […] The price of the room was also reasonable. The hotel accepted pets for a minimal fee and best of all the room didn't have any places a small pet could hide without you finding them easily. The only three slight negatives were 1)the bathroom was showing its age but was clean and functional. 2)the fitness room was tiny and only had three pieces of cardio equipment - I was hoping for some weights or space to do floor work but really it was fine. 3) location - you could not comfortably walk to old town. Overall a good, safe place for people with pets or children. I would stay there again. Les mer

My hotel room was very nice...very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again, or at any other Red Lion if the Eureka hotel is any reflection of the kind of room and service given.
Nice hotel, good value. Will stay again when in Eureka.
"Great Hotel"
In Eureka for business, and I travel 95% of the time. Red Lion hotels have always been a hit or miss with me, mostly miss. But this hotel knocked it out of the park. Great customer service, excellent knowledge of surrounding area and local events that are not associated with the hotel. They really made you feel at home. The Food service staff was friendly […] and profession. The bar staff was a 10. The hotel itself was a little worn. It rained for 4 days straight and the parking lot flooded near the entrance to the hotel, however you could walk around the area to get to your car and stay dry. the carpet throughout the hotels could use a change as it's starting to show some wear, but the carpet in the rooms are excellent, as is the cleanliness, bedding, bathroom, even water pressure ( a huge plus )!!! Nothing worse than taking a shower, to start your day, and theres no water pressure. Many "hidden" restaurants in the area. Ask the staff. Was there for crab season! Also If you are driving back down to SF or have a few hours to kill, head south to the " Avenue of the Giants" and spend a couple hours taking pics, picnic, or just enjoying the sights. Wish I had a convertible while driving through there. I you time it right and get to see it without so many tourists... all the better. I WILL be staying at the Red Lion, Eureka again !!! Les mer

enjoyed the stay. Back entrance door did not allow "slide key card" to open...had to walk around to front entrance. Glad to have accomodation for small dog.
Nice place. They keep your deposit longer then necessary in my opinion . All other hotels usually release the deposit right away.
"Stayed there before"
But this time wasn't as good as before. One of our beds sheets were not changed and there was some "hairs" on it. They changed it all in a hurry after complaining.

But it's important to remember, you're in Eureka not Manhattan. Great clean quiet hotel with ample spacious rooms. The "human touch" makes it even better. Best hotel in town,

"Dog friendly and great price!"
I would definitely stay here again. Dog friendly and inexpensive. Staff is super nice and there's a convenient restaurant/bar right downstairs if u don't feel like going out!
Our only issue was that the premium channels on the TV did not work, i.e. HBO, ESPN etc. For the price the hotel was nice, clean and close to our destination.

I was happy to have a nice comfortable bed. And it was great to take a shower with a shower head that delivered water. Very convenient that they had a fitness room, although I didn't get a chance to use it in the morning. Would have appreciated it if the "water" view I had wasn't overlooking a trailer park. Kinda ugly. However, the room was clean and […] the staff were very kind and receptive. There was a form to fill out if there were issues with the room. I had two problems. First, the bathroom sink stopper would not come up. And then there was one plug-in that had a broken cover. I had wrote both on the form so they were aware of it. I stayed there for a week while looking at houses. It was safe, convenient, and well maintained. The staff were all pleasant and professional. My room was comfortable, and I enjoyed being able to leave the door to the balcony open all week for the cool fresh air. (I would note that only the rooms on the front of the hotel have a balcony.) This was a convenient place to stay and be close to all of the Humboldt County sights. Staff was extra friendly and accomodating. A little noisy on the weekend.
"Excellent Service"
The hotel is "new-ish" so has all the comforts of an updated inn. The staff is really friendly & helpful, and actually quite cheerful every time we interacted. Would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in the Susanville area.
"Great Hotel in boring town"
I recently stayed in the Red Lion hotel in Eureka on my way home from Seattle. Although the town of Eureka is nothing special, especially for a college student like myself, this hotel was great! It is pretty big, probably the biggest building we saw in the whole city, and the rooms were huge! My room was on the third floor and came complete with two […] sinks and a balcony. The beds were incredibly comfortable, much better than the other hotels on my trip. The bathroom was very nice and so was the TV, which included free HBO. Hopefully your never in Eureka, but if you are, definitely stay at the Red Lion! Les mer

"Clean & Comfortable"
Nice Clean Comfortable Rooms. Lots of parking. Well Lit Onsite Parking. Front Desk Friendly and Helpful. Room Service Rather Pricey. Only Available For Breakfast. Restaurant Only Open For Breakfast. Would Be Nice To Have a Free Continental Breakfast.
"Nothing fancy but comfortable"
Rooms are huge and clean...and although the decour was outdated and a little tired the hotel was clean and convinient. The immediate neighborhood is not very nice but seems safe. And downtown Eureka is only minutes away and kinda cute.
We stayed @ the Red Lion in Eureka, CA for my nieces wedding. The room was surprisingly large. The king size bed was very comfy and the room was clean. We ate at the breakfast buffet and it was very good for only 7.95 ea. I would recommend this hotel. The price @ hotels.com was cheaper than any other hotel in town. Thank you. :O)
"Better than I thought it would be!"
I was happily surprised at our room at the Eureka Red Lion it was very roomy and clean . The Bathroom was very large with an additional vanity and sink outside of the Bathroom , which is great for a couple in one room. The interior hall and stairs are a bit dated and worn but overall, still anice place. The front desk girl was very nice and recomended […] a great restaurant for a nice dinner, called "Avelon" . "Comfortable, pleasant stay"
We stayed for three days and found our room in general comfortable and clean. The wifi worked. The staff was very helpful. There's a handy business room on each floor with a computer and printer (fee) and two work tables that provided a very convenient place for me to take a 6am conference call while my family slept in. Only two minor flaws: 1)it's […] getting to be time to regrout the showers, the grout had mildew that the cleaning wasn't removing 2)the designated smoking area needs to be moved around to the side or back of the hotel. The manager helped me get some guests who were smoking at the pool to move to the smoking area, but the location made the smoke at the pool area worse when they were in the designated smoking area. "Picture not as it seems"
The pictures in the ads looks nice but the reality is it was dirty and unpleasant. VERY old hotel with VERY old and dark decorations. The surrounding area looked unfriendly. I would not walk around at night. Exercise area and pool closed from 10 pm to 6 am. Why would they close these areas since there is no supervision or staffs watching these areas […] anyway? Pool is very small. Everywhere we walk the staffs stared at us as if they expect us to steal something. Very unwelcomed feeling. I could not wait to leave. Les mer

Though we arrived at the hotel 3 hours early they allowed us to check in early. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean, and very nice. It was nice that the staff could tell you things to do in the area and places to eat. We really enjoyed our stay there.

"Easy access"
hotel is located right off of Hyw 101 and easy access to downtown restaurants. Would recommend for an overnight stay.
