Normandy Hotel - Paris

En av grunnene til at jeg valgte hotellet var tilgang på trådløst nettverk fordi jeg var på jobb, men dette falt ut og inn på rommet. Til dels lite imøtekommende og sure folk som jobbet der. Slitte rom, men hadde det jeg trengte. Sentral beliggenhet, og rolig rom ut mot bakgård var et pluss.

OK hotell, men litt slitne rom og bad. Teppe på gulv var ikke bra. Beliggenhet i forhold til severdigheter og annet var meget god.

det var veldig sentralt og kort vei til louvre.men det var en del trafikk utenfor rommet vårt men det var helt ok.mellom badet og rommet var det ingen dørkarm så ble det vått på gulvet kunne det bli vått på teppet på rommet oxo(mellom bad og rom).

var i paris 11-15 des 2011. Hotellet skal være 4stjerners, men det var ingenting som tydet på dette. det var veldig lytt mellom rommene og rommet var veldig slitt, med knuste fliser ødelagt skap mv. Men det var safe på rommet som var et pluss. Beliggenheten derimot var helt genial. 150 - 200 meter fra luovre og gåavstand til latinerkvartalet var et […] pluss. så hvis en vil ligge nært god shopping, les Galerie Lafayette osv er dette et kjempefint hotell, bare ikke vent 4stjernes standard. Ellers var betjeningen hyggelig og behjelpelig. vi spiste ikke frokost på hotellet Les mer

Mange familiemedlemmer bodde på hotellet. God service, men noe dårlig vedlikehold.

Trivelig opphold, bra størrelse på rommene, men relativt lav standard. God frokost, serviceinnstilte ansatte.

Den beste beliggenheten vi har hatt i Paris. Nært alt, Concorde, Louvre og Metro-stasjoner!

Vi var flere familier, både med og uten små barn, som bodde på hotellet mange netter. Kjempestore rom til å være i Paris. Rent. God frokost, fantastisk hyggelig- og hjelpsomt personale. Flere store konferanserom/saler, og "event manager" tilgjengelig for organisering av sammenkomster. Som mange av kommentarene sier, er hotellet noe "utdatert" når det […] gjelder møblement og stil på rommene, og hotellet er noe slitt. Men det er jo de fleste hoteller i Paris. Pris i forhold til kvalitet på oppholdet er upåklagelig, selv om de 4 stjernene nok går mer på fasiliteter, enn standard på rommene. Hotellet har perfekt beliggenhet, uansett om man ønsker å se turistattraksjoner, dra på shopping eller spise på gode restauranter og kaféer. Anbefales! Les mer

Hotell Normandy hadde så og si perfekt beliggenhet. Et minutts gange til nærmeste Metroen ved Louvre gav oss et perfekt utgangspunkt for komme oss til alle steder som er verdt å se i Paris. Nærmeste gate var også en lang og sammenhengene shoppinggate, noe som ikke var å forakte for oss. Rommet var romslig, minuset var sengene som var harde. Det var […] også ganske lydt til naborommene, men vi har heldig som hadde stille naboene. Servicen trakk mye ned etter at vi skulle bestille reise til flyplassen. Vi valgte da å bestille shuttletaxi, som det ble reklamert for i resepsjonen. Conciergen fortalte at vi skulle være på flyplassen 05.10, men når vi satt i taxien fikk vi en helt annen beskjed var sjåføren. Vi var nemlig ikke kommet oss ut av sentrum en gang til den tiden pga en rundreise etter andre passasjerer på morgenkvisten. Alt i alt kan hotellet anbefales for beliggenheten, men finner det andre hotellet i nærheten til samme pris vil vi nok velge noe annet neste gang. Les mer

We where 12 persons staying for a long weekend to visit Paris. the Hotel was perfect for this as it was very close to most places we wanted to see. And the staff was very helpful with restaurants and taxis. The rooms though where old and not recently refurnished but for our purpose that did not matter.

Kjempehyggelig, men ganske slitt hotell rett bak Louvre. Litt "fordums luksus". Store rom, ok senger, veldig hyggelig og alltid hjelpsomt personale. Anbefales! Vet ikke noe om maten, spiste ikke på hotellet.

Enjoyed four nights at Hotel Normandy. The lobby suggests a classy stay, but unfortunately the room was pretty shabby and not up to date. But as usual, the location was the key factor and Normandy in the heart of Paris gets full points for that. The hotel is situated practically next to Louvre and many nice restaurants and shops. Very lively and lovely […] neighbourhood! As for the room, it was kept clean every day. Hope they would invest in new textiles. The lobby staff could have been more welcoming and friendly, they seemed very busy and not very attentive at times. But still, location. location, location! Les mer

Great spot close to all but wifi is not accessible in rooms and that was a problem for us. Beds were the worsts we had on our trip felt like I was sleeping at my grand parents in 1967. Still a great location!

Being a group of students from the U.S. we decided to leave London for a few days and go to Paris. Normandy seemed like it would be great- good location being the main factor. We were WRONG. We arrived and checking-in was a struggle with a staff that was unwilling to help. To top things off we were given a room on the top floor that did not yet have […] a key that worked (the hotel uses an outdated key system that would otherwise only be seen in a 1930s movie). They promised us a working one would be to us soon. Sure enough we were wrong and we were told from the hotel concierge men that whenever we returned to the hotel we would just have to grab one of them each time so they could let us in with the master key. This was problematic when we returned home at night and the concierge REFUSED to take us to our room. Being paying customers we remained calm and assured them that what they were doing was illegal. The next morning we were woken up by one of the concierge men walking into our room leisurely (still not sure what he was up to) because the only way to unlock our room was the master key and there was no deadbolt or external lock to control from the inside. This was beyond alarming and creepy. Still not sure what he was up to as he was trying to be very quiet. Staff and key problem aside, our room looked like something out of the 1970s. The furniture was disgusting orange felt and the only TV was probably 12 inches in the corner. Windows (I KID YOU NOT) were cracked and simply patched up with duct tape. Moving in to the bathroom there was only a bathtub that had no shower head and the sink had hairs in it, presumably from the last person to use the room. As well there was no air conditioning and being on the top floor led to extreme heat. What we thought would be a great time and Paris turned into misery because of the people and facilities of the Normandy Hotel and I would never wish the same experience on someone else. Don't make the mistake of thinking reviews saying the hotel is old and run down are exaggerating some charming European patina. The hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Paint was chipping off the ceiling and the light fixture was not entirely attached. The headboard also fell off of the wall. The rooms very claustrophobic, even by Paris standards. Stayed 3 days in this hotel and still wondering where the 4 Stars are ? This is by far the worse hotel I ever seen and it surely does not deserve 4 stars. Location is top, you are incenter of Paris and can enjoy all what Paris has to give. On the other side staying at this hotel will be far of a pleasant stay. Our room was clean, the beds were oke, but this hotel is far off from a four star hotel. The staff is very limited in speaking english, but the maintenance is kind of neglected, which is worse and a shame. It is a very nice place, the location is super , but the state it is in, is total neglect. The price per room is way too high for what you get. hotel is a very old building, unfortunately not well maintained.

I booked a stay for 5 nights in February 2012 based on the price and location. Location is fabulous; it was convenient to be able to stop back at the hotel between shopping/museums/lunch to deposit bags, change, etc. My room was a single room on the 3rd floor facing the street. It wasn't particularly noisy, but it was in a state of somewhat disrepair. […] The ceiling was peeling, the shower head had come loose from the wall and was simply a hose with a nozzle (still worked fine, but wasn't ideal). The bathroom was old and dingy. My biggest complaint was the heat- it was very cold outside and the in-room heating was completely inadequate. The room was very, very cold even for me (I'm Canadian and well used to cold winters). I would not stay here again, but would definitely search for another hotel in this neighbourhood. Les mer

We enjoyed our stay very much it was a perfect location for us and the hotel was near by lots of eating places at all ends of the budjet! The hotel satisfied our needs well the room was very spacious but in need of some decorating to bring it up to a 4* standard it was looking very tired, we felt that about the hotel in general but it was lovely and […] warm and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a must have really good buffet style the scrambled egg was perfect and crispy bacon the best!!! It set us up for the day only needed coffee and cake to top us up before a perisian style dinner! Also only a few minuite walk to the metro station. Les mer

Arriving at the Normandy, you are met by a grand marble entrance (we couldn't use it because it was shut and had to go around the side)... mind the tiles, some are very loose! Staff looked pained to have to attend to us and we were bounced over to the concierge to collect our room key. This would have been fine if he had bothered to explain how to […] get to our room! The "Superior Room" was tired and need of a deep clean. Fixtures were missing, there were cracks in the walls and the bathroom had holes in the ceiling, leaks and dirty broken sealant around the bath (yuk). The mini bar was empty and there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room (we asked to make sure). Not a problem on any day but Sunday (our arrival day) because their bar is shut on Sundays!! So, a hotel with no way of even getting a bottle of water!! Being 3 minutes from the Louvre was fantastic, but when I return to Paris it will NOT be to the Normandy. In short, I recommend you AVOID this hotel, there are plenty to choose from. Les mer

Clean, quiet and an in-room safe. No heat in our room the first night. Safety a concern because it appeared that the door had been knocked in and it had been repaired.(not very well)

I was disappointed in this hotel. The bathroom ceiling was coming down over the bath, no plug in the bath, bathroom radiator not working. Room was cold and needed an electric radiator to heat it. Noisy location on a busy crossroads. The public areas were freezing cold as the sliding door to the front of the hotel was broken for the whole weekend. And old an rather worn down facility, but well run and perfectly located, just one step from Louvre in the centre of Paris.

This was a nice hotel that was very nicley located just a block from the Lourve. The hotel is in a nice section of town very safe and clean. There were a sweet family of mice living in the bar but beyond that the place was impeccable. Good house keeping, pretty good shower, excellent service staff.

I stayed there for five days. Not bad as other comments. I am a bit worried before but the environment is not bad. Have a nice reception and lobby. Quite stable wifi is in the lobby area and there is one desktop. Staff are nice and helpful. They can speak good english. A vintage Paris hotel. I stayed in the single room.Maybe the shower is a bit old […] that needs to wait some time for clean water. But it is quite comfortable is stay there. Les mer

Having never been to Paris before, we really have no reference point as far as hotels go. This hotel is in a perfect location, which is what we wanted. It was reasonably clean but felt a bit worn out. Our sheets actually had small holes in them one day. Beware the breakfast! Nowhere did we see the price for it and when we checked in they simply pointed […] and said "breakfast is served at 7 in the morning". We learned upon checkout that it cost €28 each! Also, the reception staff and concierge were not extremely helpful but the bartender (older guy) was awesome when he was there. If you need anything, seek him out. Les mer

The Normandy hotel is right next to the Louvre less than half a mile from the place de Concorde it is centrally placed for all of Paris's Tourist attractions and is close to Pyramides metro. The hotel was clean, sheets and towels changed every day We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to use the Normandy on our next visit to Paris.

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not for you. But, if you are looking for a clean hotel with a nice sized room that is in an AMAZING location, book this hotel. No complaints at all except for the hallway was loud due to the oldness of the wood. You could hear clearly when anyone walked by.

Note that I booked this through an internet (famous) compiler and the price was far lower than the hotel normally charges. Breakfast was not included but was reasonably priced. Also note that I do not doubt the veracity of other reviews, we just might have gotten very lucky. For the record, if it helps, our rooms were #310 and 318. They were both good […] values. Note also that the actual entrance of this hotel is 7 Rue de l'Echelle and that the two reviews for that address are horrid. Do not be confused, there are not two Hotel Normandy's, it is on the corner of Rus Saint-Honore and Rue de l'Echelle. After getting my conformation from the internet compiler, I looked at the reviews. I was disappointed and concerned. After I got my conformation from the hotel itself, and now saw the Rue de l'Echelle address I was mortified. Background on me: I fly about 300,000 miles a year and stay at hotels at least 150 nights per year. I am Hyatt Diamond, etc., and tend to stay at "better" hotels. I decided that in Paris, I wanted to stay in a local hotel and could not resist this price. However, after the reviews we decided that we would get off the plane, drop our bags at the hotel and find another hotel. We were not going to stay in a rat infested flea trap. The prepayment to the internet compiler was going to be our penalty and a lesson to be learned. So, when we arrived at the hotel we were a bit surprised. Classic Parisian exterior, and the interior lobby, although cold, was very pleasant. It turns out that they were working on the exterior automatic doors and the lobby was warm as toast the following 4 days. One room was ready (it was only 9:00 am) and the very friendly staff assured us that the other room would be available by 1:00pm. We decided to check out the room. The elevator was small, it only holds 4 people but there are two elevators. The room was larger than the typical European rooms and there was more than enough space for clothing and other items. We found the peeling paint charming (but we're a little strange that way. The staff shiftted back and forth from being helpful and rude (as with most of the French). No coffee or hot water in the rooms but the McDonalds was very close for "take away" . The location was great just a short walk to the Louve as close a hotels 2 times as much. For such a central position in Paris it was very clean - however, there was no atmosphere in the hotel and some of the paintwork was beginning to flake - but it was a typical old-style Parisian hotel

the bottom line is that it's an adult "youth hostel"...the bar isn't even open anymore, the WiFi situation is awful! only redeeming quality is the location- u r smack dab in the middle of so many wonderful things about Paris. But when u r an adult u expect something from a supposedly 4 star hotel. at best a 2+ hotel!

I'm going to start with the positive. It's very well located. No the negative. It's old, ugly, dirty, peeling paint in the bathroom and generally extremely tired. If you have low standards then it's ok. If you even expect to find something like a travelodge you will be disappointed.

Absolute disgrace and waste of money. Disgraceful that you pay what you do to get a gotel that is so poor.

4 star hotel right by the Louvre - great location, but 4 stars - no. Paint peeling off walls curtains not shutting, but would I recommend it? - definitely! (but not at the price advertised in the foyer which was exorbitant)
