Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Austin-University Area - Austin

This hotel was extremely clean and well-maintened. I had a hard time finding it because it was my first time in Austin and was not familiar with the city. The personnel was very polite, respectful and friendly. The hotel provided a delicious breakfast as well as Wi-FI. The rates were very affordable. I strongly recommend this hotel.

There are major issues with vibrating from the air vents on the second floor. The room and hallway had a horrible vibrating sound. The management changed our room (1st floor was fine) and acknowledged that there were issues with the second floor vents. But since the hotel was low on occupancy that day it was not a problem to find us another room (made […] me question why we were put on a floor with known problems when others were available.) The day after checkout we noticed our discover card had charges from the hotel pending (it was a prepaid room and we were told at checkout that there were no incidental charges.) So I called and was told that the credit card you leave is automatically charged 20% of the room rate just in case but it would be credited shortly thereafter. This is something they just do and we weren't informed. It was annoying to have to take time out of my day to call. Now I have to check with the discovercard website and keep an eye on it. nice decent breakfast, but location is hard to find and get to cuz its by a one way street and different highways.

Great service, very nice room. Catered to our needs promptly and courteously! Highly recommend considering staying here, it's a little more than I'm used to spending but the quality of the service and room were commensurate with the price. Will gladly return when in Austin again!

Only stayed over night. Was there for UT football game. Everything was perfect in room. Service was good. Thanks!!!!

Hotel was as I expected from a Fairfield, although a bit more wear that I would have liked. Not the best neighborhood but inexpensive and convenient to UT Austin. If you stay here, try Amaya's across the street, great Tacos.

You will have to have a car or take a taxi if you want to go anywere. There are a bunch of hotels in this vicinity and only 1 restaurant. The front desk was great about calling taxis for me.

My friend and I came to Austin for a girls trip of shopping, 6th, and relaxation! The location was great, very easy to find and close to San Marcus as well. The staff was not helpful at all when we asked for help with our bags, but we were actually surprised at how nice the hotel was for the price. We were supposed to check in at 3pm and they said the rooms were not ready. We had to wait until 4:15 to check and had to leave immediately to go to the function we were to be at by 5. After coming back to the hotel and checking out the next morning we did not have any time to enjoy the hot tub and relax and clean up for the 5pm function. There is no […] excuse for not having a room. Their excuse was that some of the people were not checking out until 6. How can you have a room rented until 6 when you have check ins at 3? Les mer

We were literally held hostage in the pool area as the night manager checked in a "guest"......after we finally escaped, thanks to a Government official who happened to walk in the pool area; we were informed in the elevator as we were escorted to safety..........that the "guest:" was a working girl attempting to turn a trick. I can only guess that […] this is a politically correct statement.....I was told this by two women who witnessed, this woman who may or may not have successfully gained access. look at your security tape. being held hostage in the pool area by a very large hispanic man, and then again being held hostage in our room!. It is all on tape. Thank God for the Government personell who rescued us from the pool area and escorted us to our room!! No security was available according to the desk /night clerk manager. The back door was open in the pool area. After escaping to our room....we could not leave to eat. It was dark. There was no security to escort us to our vehicle. If not refunded......I am ready to sue. Being held hostage in a Marriot? What is wrong with this picture>? Les mer

Hotel staff was friendly. The pool is very small but children will love it. The room was nice and comfortable...the only problem was a dirty coffee pot. Other than than, everything was just fine. The buffet breakfast was your basic continental breakfast with waffles and it lasted til 10am which I liked. I would stay there again.

The property is very clean and fairly new. The surrounding neighborhood is a little sketchy for Austin but the property was a great value and I would definitely stay again.

This hotel was great for us. We stayed there one night and we were happy with how clean and comfortable it was. Also the pool and spa were clean and well taken care of. The breakfast was great and overall everything felt clean.

I expected a little fancy Motel, but this one does not meet my expectation at all for the price I paid. It is just simple sleeping place that I should have paid much less. Lobby is very small and there is no any decorative display. Room was maintained clean but nothing more than beds, small TV, and shower. Managerial and housekeeping staff was fantastic! Very helpful, courteous and professional. Room was clean, neat and comfortable. Decent area of town, close to restaurants, freeway, etc... The hotel can be a little tricky to get to if you're not familiar with the Texas highway system's placement of on and off ramps. The hotel itself, however, is an excellent place to stay. The room was cozy; the bed was comfortable; and the lights worked. My girlfriend wasn't happy about having to go the first floor for ice, but I had no complaints.

The Fairfield Inn provided us with a clean, comfortable place to stay at a reasonable cost with lots of free extras. The breakfast is free, includes make your own waffles and the cereal and bananas that were a bit healthier for us. Internet connection was clear and strong enough so I could watch Netflix movies. Best of all was a small, but very nice, […] imdoor pool with a bubbly hot tub. Location is a little out-of-the-way if you don't have a car, but there were several nice seafood restaurants within walking distance. A short walk took us to a bus stop for Austin's excellent transportation system. Get a $2 pass rivet on the bus and ride all day. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Les mer

We stayed just one night and spent little time in our room. However, I have paid twice as much for rooms that were far less roomy and less well organized. It had all the necessities and several conveniences (small refrigerator, microwave, coffeepot) that many times you do not find in hotels in this price range.
