Days Inn University Downtown - Austin

Comfortable rooms though air conditioning was quite noicy, Service is good. Location is not very nice next to the interstate. The pool was small and located next to the heavily trafficed road. Service was friendly. Items available at breakfast varied, some days yoghurt was available, others not.

I enjoyed they stay very much. I stayed there with my boyfriend why he was here visting in Austin. The room was very clean and close to campus. The price was very good for the closeness to Downtown. On the outside it doesn't look that good but the inside is wonderful. I will stay here again.

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise! The hotel and my room were very clean and it was convenient to the Frank Erwin Convention Center where I was exhibiting at a conference. I choose the hotel because of its location, but the rooms seem kind of old specially the carpet,a sides from that the TV was brand new and the bed was quite good.

The place was so so. Room was comfortable but not worth the nightly rate. The 2 armchairs had heavy soil stains and the coffee pot was dirty so we didn't use it. Definately wouldn't make this place my first choice again.

This hotel may not have the frills, but the service was excellent and they had free wi-do. Really convenient to UT and Hancock center. Right on the freeway, but little noise in the room.

Quite OK budget hotel near downtown Austin. Walking distance to the university, bus station just around the corner. The hotel itself resides just by the highway I35, but the rooms are still quite. Helpful staff.

It was not fancy, the furniture was shabby and crowded in, but the beds were comfortable, the bathroom and sink area were clean, and the price was low. There was an okay restaurant about eight blocks away, called Hornito's.

The curb appeal of this motel is awful but the the room was clean and the beds comfortable. We were surprised that we didn't hear any highway noise as it is virtually on the highway.

The hotel was pretty close to downtown and for the price, I was pleasantly surprised! It came with a fridge and microwave which was perfect for a weekend stay.

Hotel was convenient walking distance from UT campus. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff let us check in early. It was noisy due to traffic from the interstate, but not from other sources.

Great for the price. Very inexpensive. The outside is just a bit rough, but the room was comfortable and clean. I'm not sure why this is sold as a downtown hotel. It's a short drive, but would like be more than an hour walk.

My boyfriend and I come down to see friends and go to shows in Austin quite frequently. we really just need a place to sleep, and this place works out great because of its convenient location to downtown. my only complaint about the room is the water pressure in the shower...it sucks. took forever to wash my hair and everything...not very enjoyable. […] hopefully we just got a fluke room though. Room was comfortable enough, but promised amenities weren't there, which was disappointing for the price. No signal for the wireless internet, no HBO, no internet access on the television. Like I said, not a real big deal, but for the price per night you expect the things promised in the write up to actually be there.

The only downfalls we experienced were a sparse breakfast and dirty carpets. Our stay was comfortable and very convenient to the places we needed to get to. Housekeeping was wonderful and everyone friendly and helpful. Parking is a bit crowded, but OK. I would definitely stay here again.

I found what I needed. This was close to UT and it was the cheapest. I slept great. I did hear people moving in and out, with music, cars coming in and out but not so much that it keep me awake. Spent a night at this hotel on a recent business trip to Austin. The hotel is located very close to downtown Austin so that is a plus. The hotel is located underneath an elevated freeway so if you are looking for absolute peace and quite you'll have to spring for a hotel in a quieter location. Hotel was just what I wanted - cheep, clean and centrally located. A little loud outside - Hosptal on otherside of highway. Good for 4 day class at UT.

Great location; quality furnishings and bedding; exterior looks old, but interior nicely furnished.

The Days Inn is close to the UT Campus, within walking distance, but it is also close to the busy highway and a busy hospital.

I gave this hotel a five star rating because I have absolutely no complaints about it. This is not to say that another travel will find this establishment without fault, but to me this is the best place to stay in Austin if you're not looking for a luxury hotel or something in Downtown proper. The location is good, not great. It is right on the freeway […] and a couple of exits away from Downtown. The real advantage is that it is easily half as expensive as most hotels Downtown. I've stayed here three times and all rooms have been spacious, clean and equipped with everything you might need (mini-fridge, microwave, hair dryer, etc.). I've also tried the Super 8 which much closer to Downtown (literally right on the other side of 35) because of its proximity to all the fun venues and shops. Ultimately, we went back to Days Inn because the pricing was the same but the service and rooms were of a much better quality. If you don't mind parking your own car, or not having room service, and don't mind being five minutes (ten with traffic) from Downtown this is the hotel for you in Austin. For travelers looking to walk from you hotel: I wouldn't recommend this one. I would go with the Super 8, plus the taxi back home at night wouldn't be more than $10. Hope this helps! Les mer

this is my second time at this hotel and i will go back there again.

They finally did quiet down after the staff talked to them a second time. Small parking lot and difficult to pull out of. This was the second and last time I'll stay here, it's close to the university but with the air conditioner issue last time and the party next door this time. This hotel worked for what I had in mind: a quick 2 day trip to re-visit Austin. I wanted something inexpensive and close to the UT campus. My expectations were met on both counts. This is an older place and it looks it. While I found my room clean, it was pretty worn. I was negatively impressed with the person on duty when I checked in. I asked for […] an Austin map and he acted as though I had asked for a million bucks! And, no, he didn't have a map. Days Inn isn't a place I had expected much from. What sucks is that it did not live up to my already low expectations. I get to my room, a/c is off and he window is wide open. It is over 100 degrees outside! And even hotter in my room now! They advertise free wi-fi. Nope. Ok, well yes they do have wi-fi and its free. But it only seems to work in he […] office. I tried on my ipad and cell. Nothing. I walk over to the office, stand right outiside the door, nothing. I step inside and it works immediately. Im not here on vacation, I am here in Austin for some job interviews and to interview potential roommates, so craigslist and email are a must. The office employee is less than enthusiastic to help, just shrugs it off. Its very obvious that he doesn't care. The room itself is good size, bed is medium comfy. I checked for bedbugs, none! The towels dont match, my shower was only slighhtly clean....there was construction or remodeling going on but it wasn't noisy atleast. And it is not in downtown. It maybe close to downtown, but definitely not IN downtown like the name implies. Sigh.... Les mer

It is very close to the campus, reasonable rate, breakfast included, meet the purpose. I will stay there next time again.

The hotel clerk wasn't there when we checked in and when he finally showed up he was so rude. (steve) was the clerks name it was like he hated to be there. The hotel surrounding area was so dirty i thought i was going to get robbed. Bums were hanging around everywhere. It was a ten dollar cab ride to the bars downtown. This Hotel is very conveniently located, especially if you are on a budget. More expensive hotels can be found in the heart of downtown. It's a minute walk to the Univsersity, if you need it and a 5 minute drive - or a 30 minute walk- to busy 6th Street. Hop on your car and go discover the neighborhood around it: Hyde Park Village has plenty to offer […] with a few but very good restaurants, a wonderufl bakery and a cheese shop that is a must stop. Our King size bed was very comfortable, the room clean and it had a vey useful small refrigerator. The biggest issue, not the hotel's fault, was that thanks to our drunk neighbors, we suffered from lack of sleep from 2 am on. We called the night service and the neighbors were repetively told to be quiet, not to much avail. When the shift changed, and the hotel manager arrived, he called us apologizing and kicked the guests out. They were the loudest people I have experienced, and I travel a lot. The downfall of this hotel is that it is not in a great immediate neighborhood and its guest could sometimes be those who need the classic cheap room to crash on. It is a true shame, as it would be nice otherwise, but I cannot stand lack of respect and unfortunately guests can ruin a hotel's reputation. Les mer

Compared to other Days Inn that I've stayed before, this one is not on the greater side - it's right under highway, appearance looks more like 1-star motel, and full of sirens of polices and ambulances at night since it's next to a hospital. The room is small as well, cramming furnitures and beds in a tiny space, but got everything you need include […] microwave and fridge. It's also a very convenient location to go to any big attractions in Austin. All in all, by the price I paid, I think it's quite worth it. Les mer

If you have anything to do with UT this is the most economical place to stay. The Star Seeds Restaurant on the premises is funky, good and just plain fun. If you live in the suburbs with a ginorimous McMansion you won't like this place. It isn't a new, shiny cookie cutter hotel you'd find on the exurbs of a city. I'd stay there again

This hotel was very convenient to get to and the front desk staff was accomodating as I checked-in before the check-in time without any problems. The rooms were what you expect for the price, but seemed cleaned and maintained. The TV did not get many of the channels, that the card in the room said it should. Other than that everything was fine.

The hotel was fine for the price. I was nervous that it would be noisy at night, but it was perfectly quiet. We had an adequate breakfast in the morning and everything we needed in our room. The location worked well for us. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the stay.

I liked the hotel and used the wifi there successfully. I was annoyed that my room key failed multiple times. One of my towels had a big stain on it. Otherwise, nice and very convenient for my conference at the Benson Library. Even though it is facing I-35, it was very quiet. AC noise blocked out the street sounds. This Hotel was really clean, comfortable and the staff was really nice. The parking itself was a it different, but not really a complaint. Not to far from 6th street and right off of I35. The price of the room for one night was not bad all. I do see myself staying here when needed.

A/C did not cool the room as we would have liked. The location is easy to find, but it is very close to the highway & we heard traffic noise in our room. The room was clean. You can walk across the street to St David's hospital, but nothing else was within walking distance.
