Hotel Monaco really* pays attention to the littlest details. Even if there's a line behind me at the front desk, the representatives act as though I'm the only living thing in the room. They give you undivided, quality attention. The decor is exquisite and the room! By golly gosh, it's so colorful and fun. I feel like Punky Brewster meets Jumanji. The staff at the hotel did an amazing job taking care of me during a very business conference. The rooms are so gorgeous, I love the complimentary glass of wine at the end of the day-before I had to get ready for "round 2" of evening events.

Excellent service,helpful staff,pretty room.Room was quite small. There was no bedside table on one side of the bed making it difficult to enjoy morning coffee In bed. I was there on business and as expected in San Francisco the room was small, but the Hotel was amazing. Great Service, Great Location and a Great Stay.

As I have stayed at many Kimpton hotels, this chain was as easy choice. The only problem was to settle on which San Francisco Kimpton to choose. The choice was made on the basis of the closeness to Union Square. I love this group. The hotels are always clean, comfortable, and locations are great. I was happily surprised upon arrival to our hotel. Our room was very quite and bed was very cozy. In all honesty, I am hard to impress and everything went very smoothly. If you feel left out about not having a pet here, they will gladly send up a goldfish too! I'm diggin Kimpton

This hotel was great, I highly recommend it. It's a boutique style so it's quirky but in a good way. The staff were fantastic, there is a wine hour each day between 5pm and 6pm when guests can enjoy a complimentary glass or two by the fire which we enjoyed. The location is good we caught the BART from the airport and then walked from the BART station […] to the hotel. San Francisco always seems to have quite a lot of homeless. however the location of the hotel made it easy to walk anywhere we needed to and we always felt safe. Great Aveda products in the rooms! This boutique pet friendly hotel is as beautiful as it is friendly and comfortable. Easy to get to other parts of the city from here.

This was a great hotel to stay at. They are very pet friendly. The service here was great here from the front door to housekeeping to room service. The front desk was very helpful on planning day trips and helping with restaurant choices. There are many great restaurants to eat at. I recommend Thai Stick for dinner and Honey Honey for breakfast- both […] are in walking distance. The House of Prime Rib was also the best dinner I ever had but it’s a cab ride away. Everything you need is at your fingertips with this location and cab rides to go anywhere in San Fran were extremely cheap and easy to get if you don't want to make the walk. Les mer

Stayed two nights in San Francisco....only a short walk away from union square, great shopping and good restaurants.... hotel front desk very friendly and helpful.....room comfortable...small, but bed great! Would stay again!! :-) {Parking at hotel very pricey}

The room was fine, the happy hour was quite welcomed by the time we got there & Oliver, director of pet relations was a welcome sight for we dog lovers.

Great location, exceptional customer service!!!

Our time in San Francisco was made all the better by chosing to stay at this beauitul hotel. Our first impression was great as the lobby was beauitful and the front desk staff were very friendly. We happened to arrive just in time for the complimentary wine service. They featured a wine from a different region each night between 5 and 6pm. Our room […] was lovely and very comfortable. The location was great with lots of restaurants in the area and just a 5 min. walk to Union Square where we caught the hop-on-hop-off bus and the trams and the great shopping area, including Macy's Dept. Store. The only thing that I could suggest to make our stay better would be to have coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Theyhowever, did provide free coffee and tea down stairs in the sitting room between 6am and 10am. Overall we loved the place and would definitely stay there again. Les mer

We loved our stay here. Next time I will upgrade to a suite to have more room---charming decor, but smallish bathroom. Great location and excellent staff--everyone was extremely helpful---some of the best hotel service I've ever had.

I'll keep it simple. We will stay at a Kimpton property again simply for the service. They have done an excellent job of making this property attractive, despite the location which is on the edge of a less tourist friendly part of town. When the doorman tells you to go 6 blocks out of the way to avoid certain streets it is unfortunate. Otherwise, the […] staff are great, the room is fun and funky, the fitness area is good, and if you don't mind walking up Nob Hill to get to some fine dining, you can't do better for the price. rooms were very well decorated and maintained. staff was friendly (except for the lady at the front desk when I checked in - she seems just not happy to be there, but everyone else was really nice).

The Hotel Monaco is a lovely, comfortable and convenient place to stay. Near Union Square, art gallerys, restaurants and SFMOMA. Hotel staff are wonderful, helpful and very friendly. The room, though a bit small, was comfortable and very clean; however since the hotel is in a wonderfully redone hotel built in 1911, room size is understandable. The Grand […] Cafe is a beautiful restoration Beaux Arts restarant in the hotel and serves wonderful food and great wine/drinks. It is becoming an SF landmark.. I highly recommend this hotel. I was extremely pleased with this choice of hotel. We take an average of 15 trips a year to San Francisco and often try different hotels. Puttiing together the location, customer service, style of room, and price, this hotel is one of my favorites.

Our recent stay was terrific here. First, it's very close to Union Square, restaurants, stores, transportation, etc. Second, it is in great shape and the rooms are very clean. The lobby is incredible. We truly slept due to no noise and great beds. Third, the service was more that expected. In fact, after taking our luggage up to our room, our guest […] service guy called immediately to his boss and requested a room upgrade for us due to our amount of luggage, which they were able to do for our last two days! Fourth, we found a weekend discount for a three night stay, which was fairly reasonable. I will definitely stay here again if I return to SF anytime soon. Les mer

Beautifully newly renovated hotel with cute decor and amazing service. Complementary wine hour at 5 and easy access to the city from this centrally located hotel. I would recommend the restaurant Honey Honey located just up the street for breakfast. Fabulous!

Stayed here two nights for a wedding and enjoyed the hotel's service and location the most. I didn't use many of the amenities, but the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I was running late for the airport and the bell desk helped me return a package to some friends staying at another hotel. It saved me some stress, for sure. The staff at the Hotel Monaco were competent and friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate us and suggest places to eat and visit. The room was a little tight for four people, but it was clean and the beds and pillows very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

My stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in San Francisco was great. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I'm from Illinois, not exactly a clone of San Francisco. I randomly guessed based on how things looked. Well, the website hardly did it justice. Valet service was great; staff extremely courteous and helpful; room was great. Close to lots of fun things to do - touristy and otherwise. first off i must say that I loved the design of the hotel. unfortunately my experience with the hotel staff was not very positive. I arrived on 6/25 to check in about an hour early...keep in mind I had a spa appointment at 3 p.m. at the hotel's spa. I was not able to check into my room because it was not cleaned yet. so i waited in the lounge and watched […] couple after couple check in early. At 2:45, i went up to the desk again to see if i could check in and was told my room was still not available. so i went down to the spa and had to wait an extra 15 minutes for my treatment because the staff was running late. So after my treatment i finally was able to check into my room. The room was great despite the fact that it was right next to the elevators. The only bad thing about my room was that the shower head would not stay centered....would slide against the wall which made taking a shower very annoying. Not sure i will stay here again...the staff killed it for me. Les mer

Most of important, the room was very clean. Service was great, location awesome. We had a great experience staying at the Monaco, we would highly recommend it.

We had a very small but comfortable room. The hotel was very convenient to Union Square & Market Street shopping (2 blocks) and the Powell cable car lines. The evening wine reception, morning coffee bar, and fresh flavored water in the lobby during the day were nice touches. The restaurant was very nice but a bit pricey. Overall, a great stay.

The common areas of the hotel are beautiful and the staff is very friendly. the only downside to this hotel is the neighborhood. Lots of homeless and the streets are very dirty. Beautiful room with a lovely canopy. Very comfy and quiet. Amazing service, especially the front desk and bell staff (?) on Sunday afternoon, June 12th. One guy was John, but I didn't get the other one's name. They went above and beyond the call of service -- really great. Very convenient to Union Square, with charming rooms and overall decor. The bar downstairs is a must-visit for a cocktail. All employees were very pleasant and accommodating. Only the spa is a bit poorly designed, with the changing room and lockers inconveniently merged with an open shower stall, so that if someone is showering, no one else can use […] the lockers.
