Veldig stilig hotell, tøff arkitektonisk og pene rom. Små minus på rommet er en dusj som lekker slik at man må tørke en vannpytt etterpå, samt en lite kald minibar. Altså bare bagateller. Bra rengjøring. Grei service på hotellet, men intet mer enn hva vi ba om. Noen ganger er jo det helt ålreit. Frokosten er dyr og asketisk. Varmretter må man betale tillegg for. Men den er likevel å foretrekke fremfor de elendige restaurantene og frokostmenyene på la rambla (hold dere unna all mat på la rambla). Beliggenheten er upåklagelig. Kort oppsummert et hotell som absolutt er fire stjerner verdig. Stilige rom. Anbefales.

Jeg og min mann overnattet på Alexandra hotell i forbindelse med 4 dagers miniferie til Barcelona. Hotellet hadde ypperlig plassering i forhold til både serverdigheter, shopping og restauranter. Kan anbefale restaurant Cervecería Catalana som ligger 1 minutt fra hotellet (Mallorca 236), her har de nydelig tapas! Ellers var personalet strålende, både i resepsjonen og i baren. De kan mye om byen og snakker godt engelsk. Rommet er moderne inredet og vi fikk en liten balkong der vi kunne nyte morgen solen. Dusjen er herlig, med stor "overhead" dusjhode. Eneste minus må være at sengen var litt hard. Barcelona er en fantastisk by og et opphold på Hotel Alexandra kan absolutt anbefales som et godt utgangspunkt.

Kjempefin tur med 3 venninner. Sightseeingbuss, shopping, fortauskafeer, gode måltider og avslapning på hotellets tak og basseng. Fortauskafeene utenfor hotellet er også veldig ok med hyggelig betjening.

The Hotel Colon fronts a large and lively pedestrian plaza, across the way from the Cathedral and the old Roman fortress. It is very convenient to public transportation, and just a short walk to Las Rambles. It was a great place to stay!

This hotel was terrific-great location, very comfortable and a view of the cathedral. A bit old fashioned, but very comfortable and quiet. Parking was available nearby and so was the bus to the airport.

rooms are clean but have not been renovated since ~1970 (although they did install LCD TV's.) Beds are very small. Great location and reasonably priced.

We loved the surrounding area and although it was in a busy plaza, it did not have the throngs of people we saw in some other areas. The tour bus stop was a block away (very convienient) It is a traditional luxury hotel. Very satisfied!

Location was fantastic--we got to see traditional dancing with live music in the plaza late on Saturday afternoon plus the line up and start of the Corpus Christi parade on Sunday afternoon just because we were staying right on the Cathedral plaza. Staff at front desk was very helpful and responsive to any request. I don't remember if we had the option to get breakfast included. If you are offered that option, note that full breakfast bought in the hotel is 18 Euros. However, coffee alone (as much as you like) is only 2 Euros. After paying the full amount one day, we then went to plan B, buying coffee only, finding a breakfast sandwich at a nearby little hole-in-the wall and filling up on inexpensive fruit from the huge market on La Rambla, just a few minutes' walk away. This hotel is in the best location in Barcelona! Upgrade to a balcony facing the cathedral. Some people may complain about the bell, but the doors shut very well and keep out most of the sound. "Perfect location"
One block from the nearest Metro Station. 5 minute wlk to Las Ramblas area. Room clean and locatioon wi=hilw close to Gothic area and Las Ramblas shopping was very quiet. We stayed two nights before boarding a cruise at the Barcelona port. "Hotel Colon Barcelona - perfect location"
Being located on the Gaudi plaza makes this the perfect location. Everything we wanted to see and experience was within easy walking distance. The hotel was everything it promised - friendly, spacious and very comfortable. The staff was wonderful and we would definitely stay there again.

This is a 3 star hotel. The bed was hard, the room tiny, and the decor dated. After flying all night we couldn't get into our room until 1:20pm. However, the location was fantastic (although noisy). Loved being across from the cathedral and in the gothic quarter. Felt it was overpriced for the quality of the hotel.

we stayed in colon hotel for 4 nights, un Feb 2011 and found the room was clean and very comfortable. we found 2 flaws: 1. during the stay we had 1 day without hot water - nobody at the hotel told us about it (we found out the hard way: trying to take a shower at midnight) and no compansation was offered. 2. the breakfast in the hotek was 18 Euro per […] person - extremeky expansive!! We loved our stay at Hotel Colon in Barcelona. The hotel is beautiful, prime location, wonderful staff. Nightly turn-down service, a beautiful little box with delicious chocolates left on the bed. A wonderful location in the center of everything. You can walk almost anywhere from there. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We arrived early and our room was ready by 1030 am. They upgraded us to a room on the 4th floor with an amazing view of the Cathedral. The hotel is in a very ideal location, central to everything. It was a great stay!

Return walk was different route while passing small shops, bakeries, etc. In other direction is La Rambles and Gothic quarter with all of its small shops and street vendors. The proximity to Placa de Catalunya (which is a public transportation and tour bus hub), the Cathedral, the Ramblas and many, many other sites of interest made this hotel a fabulous choice. It is old world, though comfortable enough. The staff is helpful and English-speaking.

"Convenient location"
The hotel was across from one of Gaudi's churches. The square was closed off to cars and open to walking tourists. There were lots of street performers performing in front of the hotel every night. The action was entertaining and fun, but unfortunately it never ended. Our roomn was on the second floor facing the street and the Church. The street performers […] tapped on their drums all night long and we did not get any sleep the first night. I finally called the front desk at 05:30 am and complained. they were very apologetic and told us that they have called the police and the city many times to complain about this group of uncoperative performers. The next day they moved us to the fifth floor facing the back street. the room was huge with a huge balcony.
