Veldig stilig hotell, tøff arkitektonisk og pene rom. Små minus på rommet er en dusj som lekker slik at man må tørke en vannpytt etterpå, samt en lite kald minibar. Altså bare bagateller. Bra rengjøring. Grei service på hotellet, men intet mer enn hva vi ba om. Noen ganger er jo det helt ålreit. Frokosten er dyr og asketisk. Varmretter må man betale tillegg for. Men den er likevel å foretrekke fremfor de elendige restaurantene og frokostmenyene på la rambla (hold dere unna all mat på la rambla). Beliggenheten er upåklagelig. Kort oppsummert et hotell som absolutt er fire stjerner verdig. Stilige rom. Anbefales.

Jeg og min mann overnattet på Alexandra hotell i forbindelse med 4 dagers miniferie til Barcelona. Hotellet hadde ypperlig plassering i forhold til både serverdigheter, shopping og restauranter. Kan anbefale restaurant Cervecería Catalana som ligger 1 minutt fra hotellet (Mallorca 236), her har de nydelig tapas! Ellers var personalet strålende, både i resepsjonen og i baren. De kan mye om byen og snakker godt engelsk. Rommet er moderne inredet og vi fikk en liten balkong der vi kunne nyte morgen solen. Dusjen er herlig, med stor "overhead" dusjhode. Eneste minus må være at sengen var litt hard. Barcelona er en fantastisk by og et opphold på Hotel Alexandra kan absolutt anbefales som et godt utgangspunkt.

Gamlebyen i Barcelona, Ciutat Vella, omfatter både Barri Gòtic og den verdensberømte promenadegaten Las Ramblas. Førstnevnte er byens middelalderkjerne, en labyrint av stemningsfulle smågater som smyger seg rundt den imponerende gotiske katedralen. Her er et godt om eksotiske og spennende småbutikker og stemningsfulle barer og spisesteder. Ikke gå glipp av Museu Picasso og Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, like mye for de flotte bygningene som for innholdet.

Etter vårt behov var dette et utmerket valg. Vi trengte senger, men fikk så mye mer. Bl.a. oppgradering til stort rom for oss alle. Vi hadde bestilt enkeltrom. Hotellet har også sjel, gjennomført fint og romantisk interiør, men trenger nok noe opprustning etterhvert. Vil nok søke meg tilbake hit om jeg skal til Barcelona igjen.

"Fint hotell i Barcelona"
Veldig fornøyd med beliggenheten, hyggelig hotell. Hvis man er veldig var for støy om natten, er dette et byhotell og man må påregne litt "feststøy". Men vi syntes ikke det var plagsomt. Eneste ulempen var at vi hadde valgt hotell med internet, men dette var ute av drift når vi kom onsdagen, når vi dro søndag var det ennå ikke i orden. Men det er jo […] bare en filleting. Les mer

"Helt OK"
Hvis man er interessert i å være nærmest mulig de andre turistene er dette et godt alternativt, ligger midt blant turistattraksjonene. Jeg har vært noen ganger i Barcelona og forbereder heller å bo litt i utkanten av det som er mest turistifisert - for å få en mest mulig ekte katalansk opplevelser. God frokost og små sjokolader på hodeputa hver kveld […] trekker opp. Bodde på enmannsrom - helt OK standard, utsikt mot bakgård. Snittalderen på de øvrige gjestene var relativt høy. Les mer
Hotellet lå veldig greit til. Nær serverdigheter og sentralt. Vi var veldig fornøyd med oppholdet der. Betjeningen var veldig hyggelig og serviceinnstilt. Vi spiste middag på hotellet siste dagen og maten kan anbefales.
Det eneste som var å sette fingeren på, var frokosten. Den var relativt dyr. På minussiden var den varme maten: vond, søt eggereøre, ikke så gode pølser. På plussiden var rikelig med variert frukt og nypresset appelsinsaft. Forøvrig var det et meget behagelig hotell. Mulighet for god middag på hotellet, selv om den også var noe dyr.

Hotelet er midt i blinke for de fleste. Når det gjelder shopping, Kataderalen i front av hotellet og Dali utstilling 200 m å gå fra hotelet .......... Bra plassert med god service, og hjelpsome staff..! Anbefalst sterkt...;0)

Hotel Colon ligger svært sentralt til, rett bak katedralen i Barcelona i det vakre gotisk kvarteret. Kun 5 minutter til La Rambla, mange shoppingmuligheter i området og kort vei til f.eks. Picassomuseet. Hyggelig kaffebarer i nærheten der en kan spise frokost, eks. " La Taverna el Bispe" eller amerikanske " Starbucks". "Gammel slitt storhetstid"
Hotellet har en gang vært grandiost og flott. I dag er det slitt og fremstår som gammeldags. Uten internet, ingen aviser tilgjengelig eller generell info omf.eks været som man regner på 4-stjerners hoteller.

Colon var et greit hotell å bo på. Det lå svært sentralt og det betyr mye.Hyggelig betjening og god service. Det er et eldre hotell og det var vi klar over på forhånd. Vi spiste frokost på hotellet et par dager.Frokosten på hotellet var god , men den var dyr. Derfor valgte vi noen dager å spise frokost på små hyggelige kafeer som lå like ved. Vi kom til hotel Colon for andre året på rad, og visste på forhånd at dette er et veldig bra alterantiv. Hotellet har en helt perfekt beliggenhet med Cathedral de Barcelona like ved. God atmosfære, og trivelig å sette seg ved uteserveringen som hører til hotellet. Rolig beliggenhet samtidig som det er sentralt. Personalet på hotellet var svært serviceinnstillt […] og hyggelige. The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. "Conveniently located"
Very happy over all as evidenced above. Air conditioner was not working so the room was warm. Also it is located on a public square and the Spanish tend to stay up late and chat in loud tones until early in the am, but we were quite happy otherwise.

I'll start with the positives: location, location, location! It was perfectly situated near La Rambla, taxis and buses. We felt safe walking around at night and the cathedral square was a fun place to be, not to mention beautiful. The hotel furnishings, both the lobby and the rooms were dated. Bed was ok, but old and not very comfortable. Chairs in […] the room were extremely small, not made for a man. This is why I rated the comfort and maintenance a 3. Also, we were unable to get the heater or the a/c to work. A maintenance man was sent up immediately, but nothing was ever done. They do keep the rooms and baths clean, though. The front desk staff, as some others have said, were nice, but a bit abrupt at times. They did speak very good English and were helpful in many ways, especially in setting up our evening at a Flamenco show. However, they were not even interested in the fact that I could receive emails, but not send them and could not access any web pages through IE or Mozilla. Very strange, since the computer was working just fine before I left on the trip. I do hope that they will remodel someday soon, as I would go back for the location and the rates. Les mer

The hotel's location was perfect--in the square directly across the Barcelona Cathedral. A great location to begin exploring the Gothic Quarter as well as the other districts in Barcelona. Hotel staff was great. Room was fine--not 5 star for sure, but more than adequate for my 2 night stay. Hotel was in a great location, The desk was friendly but not helpful. The room was very hot during the night, if we opened the window it was too noisey. Our bed was two twin beds pushed together. All of that said, I would still stay there again.

Hotel Colon is well situated for touring the city, close to transportation, La Rambla and many sites. Barcelona is a good walking city and Hotel Colon is centrally located. Rooms and hotel were clean, staff extremely accomodating. Service had a personal touch. A good value as well.

Great location! Couldnt ask for anything better! The entrance to the hotel is superb! You enter and think this is going to be great! Only to get to your room and feel completely disappaointed. Room is small, but thats normal in Barcelona center. However carpet had major stains on it and the decor was awful. Excellent location in the centre of Barcelona opposite the cathedral and in the heart of the shopping district. Quite at night. However rooms need updating and not really quite four star standard.
"Overhyped"
Hotel decor was very dated, carpet needed replaced--it was visibly worn in many areas--and the bed was very low to the ground. We staid at Grand Hotel Central, also in the Gothic area, and were much happier with our experience there. Granted, Hotel Colon was less expensive.
"The Hotel is in a good location"
I really enjoyed my stay at this Hotel. I had an early arrival and was allowed to check in. The Airport Bus stops about a 15 Minute walk from the Hotel and I used the Bus to get back to the Airport. The Bus leaves every 5 Min. in the morning. The Hop on Hop off Bus stops less than a 5 Min. walk away. My room was quiet. The Staff speaks English. The […] in room safe doesn't hold a regular Computer but there is an additional Safe in the Lobby that will handel the Computer. The free internet worked fine. The only thing I wish my room had was a more comfortable chair and the shower could be a little bigger and some more space to lay down the toiletries. I had one issue with the safe but it was quickly taken care of. I would recomment the Hotel and would stay there again. Les mer

What a wonderful hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and all spoke English. The hotel is in the middle of the best part of Barcelona -- walking distance to La Rambla, the port, Catalunya square, and more great tapas places than we could count. I definitely recommend it. One suggestion for light sleepers is to reserve a room on the non-Cathedral […] side of the hotel. While we had a beautiful view of the Cathedral from our room, the square on which the hotel and Cathedral are located can get pretty lively on weekend nights and we had people drinking and singing until 4 a.m. Definltey recommend this hotel. A beautiful hotel situated on the Barcelona Cathedral Plaza just blocks from Las Ramblas. Wonderful sidewalk cafe to enjoy a great lunch and people watch. Lots of activity and fun on the plaza all day and evening. Well situated for all sightseeing.

Great location, convenient for all the sights (the Barceona tour bus stops just beside it). Single room was surprisingly big, nicely decorated, quiet and clean. Staff were friendly and attentive. Can't fault it.

"Excellent Position"
Great that hotel was situated in a square opposite a cathedral, without passing traffic. 5 min walk to The Ramblas, where life is a buzz! Can walk to Casa Batlo in half an hour. Service in hotel wonderful, very clean and efficient. Love the old world charm of rooms with french doors, shutters and our own balcony.

Hotel is OK......very clean, .....staff ....not very friendly. Really didn't bother us..but worth mentioning. If you can do without the luxuries of the big name hotels, you will like this hotel. Very good hotel, friendly and helpful reception staff. I think it is the best location in Barcelona. Good varieties for breakfast. Decoration of the room is a bit tied, but it not much bother. Bathroom is big with supply of toiletries ( even toothbrush). All american movie are in Spanish. I would stay there again.

Wonderful, welcoming staff. Easy checkin. Greeted by doorman who helped with luggage. We were about an hour early for checkin but our balcony room was ready upon our return from lunch. On a previous trip we stayed at the other Colon property and it was very nice but this trip and stay at the Hotel Colon exceeded our expectations. We were there for 3 […] nights. Right across from the Cathedral and a couple of blocks from the Palau de la Musica, the Hotel Colon is perfectly located. It's excellent service and restaurant made up for my clean but inside room.

I was in Barcelona for a conference near Plaza Espanol and choose to stay at Hotel Barcelona Colon near Plaza Catalunya. The location was within 3 metro stops from my conference site. The metro station was 5 minutes walk from hotel. The site was great for site seeing after conference time. The hotel is just opposite of the Catedral and provides a nice […] ambiance if you want to enjoy the activity of local and tourists. The hotel is old and does not have superb maintenance; however, the room was clean and everyone were quite helpful. Overall I was very satisfied for the mid-budget range. Les mer
