Hotel Majestic - San Francisco

Positivt: Vi var to personer, mor og datter, som hadde bestilt ett rom med dobbeltseng. Da vi ankom sent på kvelden, gjorde resepsjonisten oss oppmerksom på at senga var ganske smal for to og tilbød seg å gi oss et annet rom med to separate senger. Det synes vi var god service. Negativt: Vi hadde betalt for rommet for ni døgn, men etter to dager skulle […] vi reise til noen andre steder og være borte i fire døgn. Vi sa fra da vi dro at vi ikke sjekket ut, og at vi hadde rommet fortsatt. Siden vi skulle tilbake til hotellet etter noen dager, la vi igjen en gave som var kjøpt til et familiemedlem i Norge, og trodde den lå trygt der. Da vi kom tilbake, var imidlertid gaven borte, noe vi straks rapporterte til resepsjonen. Vi etterlyste gaven flere ganger om dagen til vi skulle forlate hotellet, men den ble ikke funnet. Vi mente at hotellet var ansvarlig for tapet, og at de burde gi oss en erstatning, men det ville de ikke godta. Dette var skuffende for oss og gjorde sitt til at vi ikke var helt fornøyd med oppholdet der. Les mer

Very charming hotel. Clean and within walking distance of major attractions. Vintage feel with plenty of character! Only downfall was the lack of air conditioning.

This hotel is not for the modern tourist who enjoys the chain hotels. This hotel is an antique hotel built back in 1902. With canopy beds and claw-footed tubs, this is the type of hotel you would wanna stay in if you like to go off the beatne path. its in a quieter part of town which me and my boyfriend enjoyed. Down one side you can walk right into […] Japantown and on the other you can find great late night eats like Pizza or Sandwiches. My girlfriend and I needed a place to stay in for our getaway to the city; and I think that this place is a hidden gem. After reading the reviews and seeing the price that came with them I figured why not? Yes, the beds are high, but very comfortable and even added to the overall characteristic of the room itself. There was plenty of space for our bags, […] the windows brought in a lot of natural light (no need for electricity--also can be covered by the blackout curtains, extra kudos), and the bathroom was simple yet elegant.The staff was very helpful and nice when it came to valet and parking. If you choose to stay here, be ready to relax and not worry about reality because their checkout is at noon which is plenty of time to sleep in and not worry about being chased out of your room by room cleaning. Our stay there was very nice. Very friendly at the front desk. Rooms were elegant.and bathroom had been updated recently.We walked to dinner first night and took a cab the next couple of nights. Cab was only about $10.00 just about anywhere in the city..

I guess for some old is charming but for me the Majestic was old and dusty and anything but charming. The restaraunt was not open in the mornings so I had to walk 3 blocks to the nearest Starbucks and then climb some major hills to get back. There was little around the hotel in the way of other restaraunts. If I am ever in San Francisco again I will […] not stay there. The hotel was elected by others in my company and I did not read any reviews prior to arrival. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but they are well kept. Bathroom was nice and clean. Nice bar and restaurant area. Drinks were on the tourist side as far as price range, but the bartender was very helpful and friendly. This hotel is older, but it's lovely to see a bit of San Francisco history still thriving. Though the vintage decor was a nice theme, the furniture shouldnt of been so run down looking, fireplace should have been operable, water pressure was extremely low and room was very small to be listed as a "Jr. Suite" But what was extremely unacceptable was the used razor and toiletries left in the shower from previous guests.

We rented the hotel for my mother on her birthday. She loved it. She loved the restaraunt. The bar was also great, great drinks. There was no where to park near the hotel and the parking was full when they arrived. My father has a disability and can not walk. One of the workers made room in valet parking for them. Overall great!

Elevator out of order...no one offered assistance to get me and/or bag from 3rd floor or even told me it was out of order when I called down to get my car & tell them I was checking out, restaurant not open for lunch...not specified in info, valet handed me my car keys and didn't offer to load my bag, couldn't find coffee in the lobby...paid $3 in restaurant. […] Hotels.com listed hotel as being about 2 miles from medical facility I was going to...actual miles more like 5. The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants and we enjoyed the walk. Our room was nice and clean but very small. The bed was comfortable but really high which made watching tv difficult because the tv was set low. Overall it was a decent room for a one night stay.

The hotel is an evocation of glamorous hotels of the past. It reminded us of elegant old hotels in Europe. The location is excellent: we walked to Union Square, toured the area around the hotel which includes a splendid display of magnificent SF architecture, and the uniquely gorgeous St. Mary's Cathedral. We walked all the way down to Fort Mason - […] a gorgeous walk, up and down the streets of the city. Disappointing in all respects is the hotel restaurant. While the breakfasts are all right, if a bit on the expensive side, the one dinner we had there was dreadful, and expensive. I would avoid it. The hotel was acceptable for the price. Main objections were that the bed was waist high (no steps or stepstool available), and that the lighting was very dim overall. Luckily I brought a mirror so that I could sit under a lamp to do my make-up. And I was just barely able to climb up into bed. Someone younger and more agile would have been fine with […] that. The restaurant was borderline ok for breakfast, and ok for dinner but the bar was better for dinner if you did not want to go out. Many restaurants nearby--up or down hill. The hotel is old, but attractive in a quaint sort of way. It survived the 1906 earthquake. The room was very small--not very many places to put things, however, it was attractive and clean. There is no air conditioning, and no screens on windows, and in early Feb it was hot. They did offer a fan.

This hotel is very deceiving from the outside. Once you step through the beveled glass doors, though, you are surrounded with old San Francisco charm and beauty. Each room has different wallpaper, carpets, claw foot tubs, and comfortable canopy beds. This hotel is gorgeous and looks like it has the history to back it up. The room was very comfortable and so pretty. It had a fireplace that I was excited about but realized that it was only decoration unfortunately. Very convenient, comfortable hotel. They started vaccuuming the lobby at 5:30 in the morning, and the sound drifted into our room. There is a funny smell in the lobby.

Really nice old hotel wth original decor and large rooms, but also the carpets hold that dated smell as well! Front desk staff was lazy in our eyes but concierge helped direct us our way throughout the city!! Walking distance to japan town.

Great small hotel in downtown San Francisco. Rooms were comfortable, staff was courteous, food was good, reasonable valet service took the hassle out of parking, location was exactly where I needed to be.

Generally clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Bathrooms are pretty dated, however. Be warned, the staff is generally inattentive and there is no vending available and, more importantly, COFFEE to be found in the morning! If you want a soda, the closest store is 2 blocks away, likewise with the SBUX or Peets in the AM.

Great location and the room was nicely made up. The refrigerator made noise off and on all night and the toilet ran rather loudly every few minutes. This room was on the 5th floor, so no street noise, which was good. Stayed 2 nights, december 22nd and 23rd 2012. Rooms were reasonably priced comparatively. Hotel is old school style, which was a nice change from stuffy standard nice hotel rooms. Room we had was super small, like wow...it's small. But it was clean, and had style. It was like staying at Grandmas house back east, lots of creeks and groans from the place. […] Overall I really liked it, very historical. I am not sure if all the rooms were as small as mine, I peeked into a different one and it seemed bigger. Bed was comfortable, bathroom clean, old style tub with pipes was clean as could be. Walls nicely finished, roof etc. TV was too low on table to watch from the bed, but it didn't matter. Guys at front desk were really nice and helpful. Had fast wifi. It's close enough to walk to union square, just wear walking shoes. Factor in the 25 plus 3$ per night parking though, that's a rip IMO. Les mer

I was very surprised by this hotel, everything was really nice and even though the rooms need a bit of tlc, the beds and facilities were so comfortable. It's is a reasonable distance from everything, accessible by bus or cab. Loved my stay. The Bartender was the best, made some of the best drinks in the city and a true professional. Hotels were really cool, I like the style a lot more than chain hotels and was close to geary street and cool places to eat and drink. On the flip, wouldn't let me check in early and parking is expensive. I really liked the place.

the hotel is vintage and has some charming qualities. but it needs a lot of upgrades. My biggest concern was the sheets did not look clean - as if they had not been changed from the person before me - so I was not happy about that at all
