resepsjonsvaktene varierte mye, en var meget hyggelig å behjelpelig, den andre var sur å grinete. heisen hørtes ut som den skulle dette ned hvert øyeblikk. rommene var helt ok, dyr minibar dog. men beliggenheten er veldig veldig bra.

Rent, men litt slitt. Veldig hard seng. Heldigvis metro-stopp et kvartal unna siden det er et lite stykke til la rambla

Familen min på 4 er kjemepefornøyd med servicen. Rommene var helt topp og basenget var greit å ha slik at ungene kunne kjøle seg ned innimellom øktene. Beligenheten er bra, ikke langt til hverken sentrum, bus, undergrunn og alt annet. I storbyer blir det alltids en del vandring i byen, og Balmes Hotel er et godt utgangspunkt for det. Sentralt, alt vi trengte, hyggelig betjening

Helt greit, men ikke noe mer. Bra med gratis internett i resepsjon og pluss for basseng og sentrumsnært.

Om du reiser alene, be om rom som vender ut. Jeg fikk et innvendig enkeltmannsrom som dessuten var veldig lite. Badet var imidlertid større, og nesten like stort som rommet. Hotellet anbefales på grunnlag av beliggenheten.

Bra hotell, rent og fint, greit med lite basseng tilknyttet. Ca 5-8 minutt gange til metro(diagonal og passei de gracia). Kort vei til rambla de catalunya(forlengelsen av ramblaen(hovedgaten i barcelona). Be om rom med utsikt over basseng, opplevde ikke støy fra hverken hotellet eller vei. Er mange gode resturanter i Eixample(bydelen hotellet ligger […] i). Les mer

Imøtekkommende personell, rent, deilig med basseng, god service.

The hotel was nice enough, but some faults: They charged insane prices for breakfast. Just walk outside and eat at one of the many better places in the neighbourhood. In addition, the rooms on the top floor were extremely hot and noisy. I think the cause of this was some machinery on top of the roof, but it was almost impossible to sleep. It was hotter […] in the room than outside (it was 30 degrees outside!), even with the aircondition on max. I thought it would pass, so did not ask to change since I was staying for a short time, but it would have been more comfortable to sleep in the floor of the hallway... In any event, offering these rooms to anybody shows that they disregard their guests. But the rooms on the lower floors were quiet and comfortable, so be sure to get a room as far down as possible. Clean, Calm, Affordable cost, Definitely come back and recommend to friends... Because Winter time, we didn't use the pool and sauna, but like the place. One small problem, we booked for a double bed but we got a 2 twin beds.

Small boutique hotel with unbelievable location. Walking distance to the University area, Passeig de Gracia as well as Plaza Catalunya and the Rambla area. Excellent choice of restaurants within three blocks and swift access to the Metro to get you to further out destinations such as Park Guell or to the Plaza Espanya to catch trains to nearby towns […] such as Montserrat. The staff was courteous and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable, although there were some signs of wear. The hotel was equipped with a restaurant, a pool and hot tub as well. Our flight arrived early and the front desk allowed us to check into our room well before the official check in time of 3PM. In addition, we were allowed to leave our luggage after check out, since our flight didn't leave till late at night. My biggest issue was in fact a minor concern-- in that some keys were stuck on the keyboard on the one computer for guest use in the lobby. Over-all I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family, and I would definitely stay there again. Les mer

TERRIBLE

We were delighted with our short stay in this hotel. It is better than we had hoped and we are pretty fussy. The accommodation was similar to that in more expensive hotels and the location is excellent, particularly if you are a Gaudi fan. La Pedrera is about 4minutes walk away. . If you like restaurant hopping, you will like this hotel. Set off in […] a different direction on foot each night and you will always find something really good and in every price range. Staff are very pleasant and very helpful. This is a very well run operation. We had breakfast included. There was plenty of fresh fruit and a variety of breads. As in many hotels of this type, continental style cold meats and cheeses predominate the selection. There are no hot breakfasts and no eggs. There was a good range of cereals and a variety of cakes and pastries for the sweet toothed guest. No fear of going hungry then! There is a pretty little rear garden with small pool if you want a dip and a nice sun bed on which to rest your weary limbs after a day´s sight seeing. There is a phone which you can use and the bar man is happy to bring that gin and tonic you have been dreaming about when all the site seeing is done. When you are suitalbly restored, this is a good shopping area in which to splash the cash in the very fashionable shops. The decor of the lobby is very interesting and the staff is pretty friendly. The room was quite small w/2 twin beds side by side to each other but that has more to do with layout. Odd thing is the bathroom didn't have a lock and this room is designated for 2ppl, so we joked that this is a way to test the "honor system" btwn the 2 ppl staying there. […] All in all we were happy b/c our intent was to stay in the hotel as little as possible...sleep only and the beds were comfortable so it served its purpose. Hotel Balmes is a very clean and convenient place to stay while in Barcelona. They have free internet service in the lobby at all times - there is a computer you can use or they will give you a code for your laptop, but in the lobby only. The pool area is also very nice, as is the hot tub. Although the bedding situation in the room wasn't great (3 triple […] beds or 2 twin beds!) the bathroom was a decent size and the shower was incredible! Great water pressure and nice hot showers every time. The chambermaid insured that the room was very clean, and with wood floors and no carpet, it was really much better than average in terms of cleanliness. They do not provide pool towels - you are expected to use the bath towels, though for a small fee they will lend you extra towels. Les mer

I GIVE THIS HOTEL A C BECAUSE THERE WAS NO IRON OR IRON BOARD AVAILABLE. i ALSO RESENTED THE FACT I WAS ONLY ALLOWED ONE HOUR OF INTERNET TIME ON MY LAP TOP N MY ROOM. I AM NOT A CHILD: I AM AN ADULT AND FELT LIKE THE HOTEL TREATED ME LIKE A CHILD. This is our second stay at the Balmes. The staff was exceptionally helpful. Although we had a nicer room for our first stay, the room was clean and comfortable. The Rambla is a five minute walk. It is also not far from The Plaça de Catalunya. They have a lovely pool area that was very refreshing.

I was very pleased with the Balmes Hotel. The rooms are a bit small, but very clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a safe, relatively quiet neighborhood, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. A metro station is nearby and easily walkable. I do recommend bringing earplugs, as the hallways could be a bit noisy at night. I found Balmes' staff to […] be friendly and accomodating. They gave great recommendations for restaurants and helped out with all of those minor (but important!) questions one has when traveling. Les mer

This hotel is close to all of the action without being in the middle of all the noise and hustle bustle of the tourist areas. It was pretty quiet and there are some cafes around the corner as well as a little grocery store. We stayed in an Executive room and it was small but very comfortable and had a huge patio. The room and hotel were very clean and […] the bed was comfortable. The staff spoke some english and were helpful when asking questions. The tv stations are very limited but we didn't spend much time in the room. There is an ATM machine on the other corner. I think this is a perfect place for travelers staying for a few days. If you are only in town for a day or two you may want to stay right on La Rambla. We loved this location and there is also a Metro station up the block. Les mer

Very convenience to every where.

A nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff, in a good location for getting around. The only problem was the walls must have been very thin as you could hear next door although they werent particularly noisy, when they flushed the toilet or had a shower it sounded like the water was about to come through.

We stayed for 6 nights in April, 2011. More expensive than a 4 star hotel we stayed in earlier, but was unavailable for the dates we needed. Would not return to this hotel again. And one concierge was ill-tempered-- made us not want to pass by the desk if he was there. The other staff were more amenable.

The hotel was located in a close proximity to most major attractions such as Casa Milla (2 intersections East + 1 block North); Casa Batllo; Placa Catalunia; and many more attractions. There was a very nice and cozzy court yard in the back of the hotel that we discovered on our last day - not that we had any spare time to enjoy it. The staff was really […] helpful and pleasant. They spoke decent English and were eager to provide us with tips. There are a number of good restaurants on every corner. We dinned at the Taverna Catalunia on Carrer de Valencia near the intersection with Carrer d'Arribau. It was a nice place. They served farm raised, organic. If you like walking, I would advise against Hop On Hop Off busses. Buy a T10 ticket in stead - sold at every metro station and use public transportation if you are too tired. The location was very convenient, the staff friendly but the room was very dark and smelt of damp/ dirty water. Soundproofing was not great and some floor tiles in the bathroom were coming up. I think I just got a cheap room as I saw the inside of other rooms and they looked light and airy.

The Balmes was a very nice hotel. The room was typical European but still good sized and very clean. The hallway outside was a little loud with other people, but there was no street noise or anything. The courtyard with the pool was very nice, but it was too cold out to use it. We did go in the hot tub. Not as hot as it should have been, but still nice. The […] location was very good. 10 minute walk to both the Metro stop and the sightseeing bus stops. It was very convenient to take the Metro down to the cruise terminal. There are also a number of good restaurants close by. We we're into the shopping, but there are also a lot of retail shops close, to include the upscale Gucci type stores. They also give you a free pass for your party to the Egyptian museum. It's only a 5-10 min walk, and it's got a lot of cool stuff. It normally cost 11 Euro, so the pass is a good deal. I would recommend the Balmes to anyone going to Barcelona, and would stay there again. Les mer

We have stayed at the Balmes several times before and enjoyed each stay. This time we upgraded to one of their apartments, which was really delux.

Nice hotel, got a small room on the 7th floor. The location is perfect, close to the bus lines and Paza Catalunya. The staff was always polite and there was one computer available to check my emails. I stayed at Balmes while I was looking for an apartment in Barcelona (I'm a student here). The room was reasonably priced, the location was perfect (close to everything in Eixample), and best of all, the service was amazing. The concierges were very friendly and willing to help me, despite the fact that I had several questions each day. The hotel was very clean well priced and centrally located, it was easy to get to all the sites in the city many walkable. As a designer the only thing I would say about the hotel is it has a distinctly '70's style which is not my preference, though everything was well keep and clean.

The hotel is really clean and close to many sight seeing destination. But it is a no thrill 3 star hotel. I booked it based on very good review from others. The location of the hotel is fantastic, besides the need for a 5 minute walk to the metro station the surrounding neighborhood is very beautiful and full of restaurants. the hotel room was great, more than we expected from 3 stars hotel. the hotel stuff was not always very helpful in answering questions.

Room was close to lobby and was a little loud in the morning. Bathroom was great, awesome tub. Clean and neat fairly good location about 10 min walk from las ramblas. I would stay here again

I will return to this hotel in the future. Internet was free and employees were very helpful. It looks very new and location is excellent.

As soon as got there was very impressed. The staff were very helpful. Rooms spotless and getting clean towels every day was great. 2min walk to las ramblas and a taxi to the beach took about 10mins at a cost of 7/8euros. The pool is just right and the jazucci was a definate highlight. Will definatley stay again. Only thing to note is if you want a […] sun bed round pool-get up early! Les mer

The hotel is in a great location only a 5min walk from la rambla de catalunya, and most of the staff speak good english, and are all very friendly. Our room wasnt very big but it had everything we needed. Unfortunately we stayed at the hotel in the hottest month in Barcelona (August) and our air con in the room didn't work. We advised the front desk […] staff of this, and were told it would be looked at which it was not. Our room also was on the 7th floor with a window looking onto 4 walls, which was a bit clostraphobic! If you are a light sleeper you may have trouble as the walls and doors are paper thin so you will hear staff / other people staying at the hotel at all hours of the night and day, so i would suggest ear plugs. Apart from these small issues i would recommend the hotel to any one looking to go to barcelona just because of the fab location and friendly staff. Les mer

We upgraded to a room with a terrace and it was well worth it. The hotel was close to the center but not as close as I originally thought. It took about 10 - 15 mins to walk

Location was awesome, 5 min walk from metro station, walkable to Las Ramblas and La Sagrada Familia. Balmes is a lovely hotel. We loved the swimming pool/jacuzzi/garden area. Fair warning though, the pool is cool and the jacuzzi is barely warm. The location is very good, within walking distance to Las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter. The rooms were roomy and comfortable. We loved this smallish, stylish hotel in a nice neighborhood.Our bilevel room had a spacious, marble-clad bathroom off the entryway. A short flight of stairs took us upstairs to the bedroom, and another short flight took us to a nice sitting room with a private patio surrounding the pool. Both rooms had televisions. Stairs could be a problem with people […] with health problems and/or too much luggage. My parents had a one-level room with a divided sitting area/bedroom--no patio. The hotel had a beautiful bar with reasonable prices and nice service from a nice woman named "Maite." The hotel is a bit far from the Gothic Quarter and harbor for walking, but only 2 blocks from the "City Tour" bus stop. Cab prices were fairly reasonable. Les mer

we had stayed at the Balmes four years ago. reserved a double room and upon arrival reqeusted a similar room to what we had 4 years ago, facing the back. We had to pay 20 Euros a day extra. We saw one of the standard double rooms and it was extremely small and cramped. Also reserved a room for one night for my son; his room was in a basement annex ; […] very small and unpleasant. I would not recommend the rooms unless you reserve a room facing the rear courtyard. The hotel location is great , very convenient for all attractions. Les mer

Cannot beat this location. Coupled with the clean,simple and wlegant facilities makes this one of the best.
