Vi var tre jenter i 20-årene som skulle til miami uten å ha særlig kjenskap til byen, vi ville bo ganske sentralt slik at vi lett kunne gå til shopping og nattklubber. Dette stedet ligger ca en halv time i taxi unna South Beach som er det området disse tingene finnes på. For å komme til matbutikk og restauranter i nærheten av dette hotellet måtte man […] gå minst en kilometer. Dette er ikke SÅ langt, men i Miami varme er det litt verre. Shuttlen som tar deg ned til South Beach fra hotellet går bare to ganger daglig og den første går ikke før 12:50. Kontinentalfrokosten vi ble lovet var latterlig. Vi fikk bare til to av oss og den bestod av 1 type tørt brød og syltetøy i tillegg til cornflakes og kaker uten smak. Hvis man ville ha lettmelk i stede for helmelk måtte man spørre. Hvis man er en familie som vil på ferie til Miami og er på budsjett kan dette hotellet fungere, de har basseng og det er ca 5 m å gå til stranden, men da bør man så absolutt ha leid bil for å kunne komme seg litt rundt på dette avsidesliggende stedet. Uansett så vil alle hoteller som ligger på Miami Beach ligge max 10 min unna stranden så dette er ikke noen kjempestor fordel. Tror en kan finne mye bedre hotell mer sentralt og det er uansett verdt å betale litt mer for å slippe å måtte betale 20 dollar i taxi hvis man vil komme seg noe sted (Miami har busser, men dette tar enda lengre tid enn taxi). Hotellet var helt ok, veldig enkelt innredet. Noe slitt. En busstur eller taxitur unna restaurantene og utelivet i Southbeach, men hotellet ligger på den flotte strandlinjen i Miami Beach. Til andre ungdommer vil jeg anbefale å heller booke et hotell noe nærmere Southbeach, men taxiregningen kommer ikke på så mye mer enn $20 en vei. Til Ft. Lauderdale […] Airport koster det ca $70 en vei. Hyggelige hotellansatte. Heisene i hotellet er forresten svært trege, man må belage seg å vente en del. Anbefaler ikke å bo i etasje 10 (Penthouse), for da må man bytte heis gang for å komme helt opp. Er dessuten slitte rom i den etasjen. Men billig og OK. Les mer

The staff was courteous and helpful. The hotel and room were clean. Two issues we had were the bed, although comfortable, made a terrible sound when moving around even slightly. My girlfriend could not sleep all night but I slept fine. The other issue was the water temperature in the shower would not stay constant for more than 20 seconds. I wanted a "cheaper" hotel for the three days before our recent cruise. Although I did not seem to take into account the amount of cheap this hotel provided. Although the view from our room was great, the glass was dirty, which was just plain disappointing. The hotel staff seemed semi nice, but were unwilling to check us in three minutes before 2, forcing […] us to wait in a line of eight or nine people, once they finally opened. The resturant in the lobby was old and dated, and old fifties theme, but the cars were rusty and the presentation was terrible. The pool was very cold and full of sand, and the hours of the bar by the pool were random to say the least, we tried to go to a happy hour and found the bar closed, on a friday night, during spring break. The hotel overall is "doable" for the price, but dont expect extravigence. The Hotel could be sooo much nicer if they just put some effort into it. Les mer

We stayed one night prior to boarding a cruise and wouldn't reccommend this hotel for any longer. The highlight was the park next to it and a wonderful Venezuelan restaurant within walking distance. It helped us forget about the hair clogged shower that would back up with yellow water.

Bad experience. Outdated and needs major improvement as to facility maintenance and services. The room stinks! Has to change because of unbearable smell. Ordered food in the bar and when the food came, we smelled the rice is spoiled and the amount of food is way expensive with the quality of food. The waitress urged us to reorder forsomething else with […] frustrated facial reaction. To our dissappointment we left. Although the guy that took care of us in the front desk is nice and accepted our complain to be forwarded to management. Overall the hotel needs major overhauling and come down to price as what they asking. I would not recommend this hotel at all. Les mer

Great beach location. Free shuttle bus to South Beach and local tours. Hotel does need updated. Lots of cab services available, 15-20 min. to South Beach and 30 minutes to Port where lots of boat tours are available, shopping, and restaurants (Bayfront Harbor Marina---highly recommened must see.) Very cost effective and exactly what I needed, but not in the centre of the action ... long beautiful beach without the huge crowds. Great decor with veteran cars and '60's art. The room was 'basic' but spacious and comfortable. Very helpful staff

While on Miami Beach this hotel is at least 16 blocks from any restuarants or shops. Some of the staff were wonderful but several were almost surly. We arrived off a cruise ship at 10:30 Am adn were advised that early check in was not available-we would have to wait until 3PM. At 3 pm about 25 peaople in the lobby jumped up to register. I was first […] in line but was advised that my room would not be available for another 5 minutes. 15 minutes later I checked back and was told it would not be ready for another 10 minutes. Finally at 4 PM when I checked back again and it was still not ready another staff member found us another room. The door to this room looked to havebeen breached with a crowbar and they had left the battered door on and only added new locks - a litle disconcerting. The restuarant that you are more or less forced to use unless you came be car and want to take a taxi is styled like a 50's dinner with the seats looking likethe back end of a 1956 Chev. Belair. Food was okay but nothing to write home about and we were a little disconcerted to note that an 18% gratuity had been added to our party of two.. great location easy to get aroud to site see, beach is great . unfourtunately the condition of the room I stayed in was not what I expected. I have stayed here several times and it seems the condition is being let go by the wayside. The pictures are blatant lies or at least exaggerations and the service was horrendous. They wouldn't do dry cleaning for us and every time we spoke with an employee they were just trying to get you away from them as quickly as possible (if they even spoke English). The beach nearby is terrible and the location was way out of the way of anything cool. […] The ONLY positive was that the HoJo has now become big joke sarcastically saying "Well this place is nice but it is no Howard Johnson". Service sucked, the hotel that is displayed in the pictures is not the hotel that actually exists. The only good thing about this hotel is the beach. Besides that it is absolutely worthless and should be demolished.

Was in Miami for the BCS National Championship game. The hotel reviews weren't good but I thought how bad could this hotel really be? The pictures looked good, it was on the beach and it was a good price considering.....I wont say it was horrible but it was old and outdated...front desk was very rude...hotel very hot although the room temp was fine. […] Its definately a fair price on the beach compared to other nearby hotels but don't make the mistake thinking that maybe the reviews are too tough...they are right on!!!!! will pay more next time im in the area. Hotel parking lot always full, had to park in the road, and the hotel charged a hideen fee of $11.00 per day. Total ripoff. Coffee machine broken in room, hairdryer broken, burned up in room. Girl at desk unfriendly, Hotel old and dirty.

This is very old and dirty hotel and we did not get room till 6 Pm. This is just crazy. staffs are very rude and not well trained. other hand some of hotel staffs do not speak English at all. we do not get towel in swimming pool, just do not get it.

Front Desk staff inept at confirming a pre-booked reservation at the time of checkin. In general all staff members less than friendly. Service in restaurant pitiful - waited an hour to have order served. Given the excuse they were buzy which was not true !

Completely different from photos of the hotel. The hotel is very old and needs fundamental renovation... Besides, our room was not properly cleaned! I will never go back to this hotel!!!

The hotel was in decent shape. Hotel has appeared as if it hadn't been renovated in quite some time. The check-in and check-out process was very easy, but this may be due to the impersonalization of the staff. The one staff member that we did find helpful was the staff in charge of calling us a cab. The restaurant is about as run down as the hotel, […] which was to be expected. The continental breakfast is nothing more than bread and water. The buffet food was okay but is overpriced for what you get. Keep in mind that gratuity is included in the bill for the buffet, although you do all of the work. The hotel is right on the beach, however. The surrounding area/neighborhood is okay. Probably not ideal for most tourists because it is far from the main shopping centers and restaurants. Les mer

All I can say, the price was almost right. But then again may be too much. It is extremely noisy. No carpets in rooms or hall ways. So just imagine people dragging their suitecases or cleaners opushing their carts on tiles... Feels like trying to sleep in train NY Grand Station near the tracks.... Plus the walls must be raisor thin. As you could hear […] all your neughbours breath. Not to mention all their conversations almost in HD quality....What can I say.. next time we know better..... Its an ok hotel. The beach is really nice and right outside the back of the hotel. It has a nice pool. The rooms are clean enough to stay a night or two. I never saw the restaurant open there. It is a 30 minute walk to Surfside where the nearest restaurants are. It is pretty quiet in the rooms and all the rooms have different names.

The hotel room was very interesting. No carpet on the floor and the walls are paper thin. Also, the bathrooms need to be remodeled, where there were holes around the tub, sick etc., they were just patched with no real skill put into it. Last, realy need to have people working that knows something about Miami. I asked for directions to the James L. Knight […] center upon arrival and before I was leaving for the event. I felt like I got a heck of a deal from this reservation!! This Howard Johnson was a really nice one, with great amenities. Not to mention all of the cool cars and amazing pool/deck area with the beach steps away. My only complaint would be that the staff were not very friendly, all about business and that there was a mix up with my reservations, but […] that was handled (not as quickly as I would have liked)! I had stayed here twice previously but the bathroom in this room we got this last time was aweful. Looked as if they tried doing some remodeling to the bathroom and that is was done by a 5 yr old. I had never been to a hotel before that charged...for parking. In their own lot, too. And $11/nt for the parking?
