O'Callaghan Mont Clare - Dublin

The ventilation in the bathroom didnt work. Every time we had a shower the room filled up with steam and condensation ran down the walls. All because the ventilation didnt work. When reported to the reception desk they seemed to think this was perfectly normal. A sign of very poor standards. Thank God nothing else failed to function.

The hotel was within walking distance to the air coach drop-off and within walking distance to most major tourist areas that include Temple Bar, St. Stephen's Green and the River. The room was clean, quiet and the bathroom had granite counters and marble floors. The kind bed was very comfortable and the staff was helpful. Was very disappointed with the hotel staff. They were very unhelpful and rude at checking and checkout. Not a thank you or a smile at all. The hotel was nice and warm. The location of this hotel is ideal for tourists who are willing to use a little shoe leather. It was within easy walking distance of virtually every tourist attraction in Dublin. The Mont Clare is a good 3 star hotel in a central location on the corner of Merrion Sq near the National Gallery, the back of Trinity College and Pearse Train Station and the 4 +7 bus stop.The hotel decor could do with some modernisation.However, the room had evrything I could need including tea/coffee making facilities, bath and wide screen tv with […] wide range of channels.It also had an old style and quite loud air con unit.The window in my room did not open. 5 friends stayed here between 27th - 30th Aug 2010. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and well presented. 10 mins walk to shops/pubs. Very good buffet style, cooked breakfast (not included in the price). Staff were extremely helpful when we had left a bag at the hotel. The Mont Clare was in the perfect location. The rooms are small but that is what you would expect in a historic hotel in the city. We leved walking fromt he hotel to many sights and it was also close to the Hop-On-Hop Off buses.

We booked here last year before we knew the great location. This year we booked again because we love the location and the ambiance of the hotel. Staff are great. Unfortunately, the pub/lounge is no longer active and that's disappointing because a spot to relax in your hotel after a day of touring or events is always nice. Perhaps when things pick up […] they will be open again, hopefully. But for museums, shopping, bus transport, etc. great spot. Les mer

Especially for the cost, you can't beat O'Callaghan's Mont Clare. The only thing I could find to complain about would be its miserable view on the off-street side of the hotel. Other than that, the room was nice (if small) and well-appointed. My wife and I enjoyed staying here.

Good value, excellent location

The hotel overall was satisfactory for a one night stay, however being told at check in that you can't use the room until later than the time stated was very annoying. If we had been wanting to use the room to get ready for an event it would have been completely unsatisfactory. Also we received no apology for the inconvenience. Great location / some history.. Staff is very nice / helpful (helped me with directions/ what to do). The rooms are a little outdated / need renovation but the place is clean / there is hot water, etc so it was OK. I enjoyed my stay there. .

Good location, at corner of Merrion Square, near to Nassau and Grafton Streets in centre of Dublin, also green tourist bus (recommended) stops across the street from the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean although rather small. Negative points: Elevator not working the day we arrived (not their fault but it did cause me problems […] as I have mobility difficulties, also after waiting for an hour for them to bring our bags up to 2nd floor, we gave up and struggled to bring them up ourselves) No restaurant - and on Monday evenings NO bar! Also bar closed at 10.30 on other weekday nights - seems very early for a hotel bar, especially in Dublin! For that reason, we would probably not choose this hotel again. Les mer

This Hotel is quite satisfactory, but suffers from not having a restaurant and so has rather a stark atmosphere. The rooms however, are well appointed and clean. It was good value for money. The lift was out of order on the night I stayed so some may have found a walk to the 3rd floor substituted for the gym!

My wife and I attended with two friends at the Mont Clare Hotel Dublin for our 2-night stay, we arrived mid morning and we were allocated rooms straight away which was a huge bonus to us. We had visited the hotel on two occasions previously as we consider it very well situated for Dublin centre & the DART rail link. The Hotel Receptionist was extremely […] helpful with all our enquries, the rooms were very comfortable, and breakfast too was very good. Unfortunately there was a function on the first night we stayed so we could not frequent the bar area, however we were offered to go to the sister hotel across the road, and there are a few good bars close-by. In conclusion we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mont Clare and will be back again to stay without doubt. Les mer

I recently stayed in the Mont Clare Hotel, it is perfectly situated for visiting Dublin either on business or for pleasure. Opposite the National Gallery and Merrion Square and a stones throw from Government buildings, it is just a few minutes walk from Grafton Street and Stephens Green. The dart and train station is closes and it is on the main bus […] route to Balls Bridge. There are no shortages of pubs and restaurants within walking distance and Trinity College is around the corner. We stayed at this hotel first night in Dublin, then went on a bus tour all over, then returned to this hotel for 3 nights. So glad we did! It is far enough away to get decent sleep unlike many hotels that we have heard about. It is close enough and in a nice neighborhood to walk anywhere.....and we did. Loved this hotel for the decor and the nice room. The location is not completely ideal if you intend to walk to Temple Bar or the Guinness brewery. Also, we needed to make a few phone calls from our room and the phones did not work. I repeatedly asked the front desk about it and they said the phones should work fine. The 3rd day they finally acknowledged […] that they had simply forgotten to enable the phones in our room via the computer at the front desk... easy fix that should have been caught right away. If you can get the kind of deal we did (~35% of what was posted in the room), then this hotel is a steal. Very old fashioned furnishings (which I liked), comfortable beds, and quiet rooms on the second floor. Internet is only available through the TV which was very annoying, but at least it was cheap compared to what we'd payed at other hotels in Ireland. I stayed two nights at this location, and then stayed the third night across the square. Nothing particularly bad to say - but about the only good thing was that they seem to take a lot of care in polishing the brass around the hotel, especially in the lobby. It gives you something to look at when you arrive if they spend 25 minutes on the phone, […] instead of checking you in. Overall, I would say it is a good value for the money - but if the O'Callagan hotel across Merrion Square is only a few more euros a night, drop the money and you will be amazed at how much more responsive the staff are. Freundliches Personal, gute Flughafenanbindung, bequeme Betten und wenn man keine Lust auf ein großes Früchstück hat, kann man 2 Häuser weiter in einem kleinen Cafe-Shop leckere Scones oder auch eine Portion Porridge bekommen. Ich würde das Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen!

L'hotel à l'air très spacieux sur les photos du site, hors nous nous sommes retrouver dans une très petite chambre où il y avait à peine la place de passer à coté du lit. Néanmoins, ce qui nous a réellement décus sont le service de l'hotel. en effet, devant reprendre l'avion le lundi 16/04 à 7h du matin, il nous a fallu prendre un taxi. L'hotel nous […] a dit que si on le réserver via eux, nous ne paierons que 25€ pour être sure que le chauffeur ne nous promenerais pas dans toute la ville. Hors c'est bien ce qui s'est passé! L'hotel a réservé le taxi qui est venu nous chercher, il est arrivé à l'avance et à laisser tourner son compteur alors qu'il avait presque 5 minutes d'avance. Enfin nous avons payer 40€ pour la course au lieu de 25€ promis par l'hotel. Les mer

Receptionisten på hotellet var ved ankomsten ikke særlig imødekommende eller behjælpelig, vi bestilte et værelse med dobbeltseng og et med to enkeltsenge, men fik ved en fejl 2 værelser med dobbeltsenge, det vidste hun ikke lige hvad hun skulle gøre ved. Vi fik dog senere på dagen et andet værelse da en anden var kommet til i receptionen. Men i det […] hele taget var opholdet ikke helt optimalt. Den ene dag var der mug på brødet til morgenmadsbuffeten, der var dårlige brusere/vandhaner, morgenmaden var dyr i forhold til kvaliteten, gulvet var glat og der var ikke som standard bademåtte (det kunne dog fåes ved henvendelse), badeforhænget var for langt til at hænge inde i badekarret under bad, det ene værelse var overmøbleret i forhold til størrelsen og fjernsynet på værelset var i stykker, lagenet blev ikke skiftet selvom der var kommet menstruationsblod på det og internettet fungerede stort set ikke på trods af at man skulle betale ekstra for at få adgang til trådløs internetadgang. Beliggenheden var fin og der var ikke for meget larm, og personalet under morgenmaden var også flinke. Les mer

Vi tilbragte nytåret på dette hyggelige hotel. Personalet er uroligt hjælpsomme og beliggenheden perfekt. Der er helt roligt om aftenen og natten. En rask spadseretur på 10-15 minutter til Temple Bar og shopping. Her kommer vi gerne tilbage.

Das gebuchte Hotel "O'Callaghan Mont Clare Merrion Square" war überbucht, so dass sogar nach deutlicher Unzufriedensheitbekundung kein Zimmer verfügbar war. Stattdessen wurde ein Zimmer in "O'Callaghan Mont Clare St. Stephen" angeboten und ein Taxitransfer organisiert. Obige Bewertung bezieht sich auf letzteres Hotel.

Lorsque nous sommes arrivés, nous avons appréciés le style de l'hôtel (très luxueux). Cependant, personne n'était à la réception (nous avons dû cherché quelqu'un). En arrivant dans la chambre, une lampe était cassé avec morceaux de verres par terre et fils dénudés!!! Pour la sécurité à revoir. Les toilettes: la chasse d'eau qui met 20 minutes à se remplir! […] La porte de la chambre qui se fermait mal donc bien vérifier avant de sortir, deux matelas pour le king size bed pas à la même hauteur! Det var ikke muligt at komme på Internettet for at checke in til hjemrejsen efter check ud fra hotellet, da Internet adgang kun kunne charges til hotelværelset, og minimum for en time.

Problème au niveau de l'ascenseur qui "doit se reposer de temps en temps"nous dit-on ! Lit trop grand pour la chambre donc pas dedeuxième chaise ni table de chevet .Mauvais éclairage. On nous a réveilles une heure trop tôt. Cependant c'était tranquille et bien situé.

la chambre est assez petite. le parking à 300m et pas vraiment surveillé mais fermé. Globalement satisfait de mon séjour.

J'ai choisi cet hôtel pour sa situation géographique et je n'ai pas été déçue ! Entre Trinity College et Merrion Square, on ne peut pas mieux. Le centre-ville est à 10-15 minutes à pied, la station DART à 5 min. L'hôtel est tout confort, chambre donnant sur la rue mais parfaitement insonorisée. L'arrêt de la navette Air Coach (entre l'aéroport et Dublin-centre) […] se trouve juste en face de l'hôtel. Avis positif sur toute la ligne, réservez sans hésiter ! Les mer

vi boede på hotellet i en uge og var godt tilfreds,bortset fra der var alt for koldt i morgenmads restaurationen,vi var der i den første uge af december og der var virkelig vinter udendørs;men desværre fulgte det med til morgenmaden. morgenmaden var helt tilfredsstillende,så derfor var det endnu mere ærgerligt der ikke blev varmet godt op. men ellers […] klappede alt og vi var fuldt tilfreds med opholdet,specielt prisen taget i betragtning. med venlig hilsen Les mer

Mont Clare var et positiv oplevelse. Et ældre men meget velholdt hotel. Udmærket modtagelse dog uden at være den mest hjertelige og nærværende. Hotellet med nogenlunde central beliggenhed alt efter hvad ens ophold er for. Ca. 15 min. fra Tempel Bar. Morgenmaden var i et smukt dekoreret rum og ganske udmærket. Dog kan det anbefales at spise morgenmaden […] ude da priserne kan fås til det halve. Les mer
