Hotel Borg er et bra hotell som ligger midt i Reykjavik. Standarden er høy, men frokostbuffeten er helt grei. Gratis WiFi i hele hotellet er et pluss...et minus er at det ikke er noe treningsrom. Vennlig og hjelpsomt personell.

Asked for an extra bed and the hotel gave us two rooms without extra charge. Breakfast was included in price and that was a treat. They even made us lunchboxes to go for our daytrip on a monster truck - even without any extra charge! Especially helpful was the night receptionist who arranged for most of our extras and bookings. Ta med ørepropper! Mye støy pga festende ungdommer natta igennom, torsdag, fredag, lørdag natt. Kirkeklokke som slår hver halvtime natta igjennom. Fly som kommer inn for landing omtrent rett over hotellet.

Bra hotell, god frokost, hyggelig betjening. Fine sotre rom med gode senger. Eneste minus er parkering, men parkometre like utenfor hotellet der man betaler mellom 10:00 og 18:00. Noe støy fra nærliggende puber ved stengetid.

Friendly staff got a room ready for us despite a very early arrival. The classic decor and comfortable and spacious room were a nice intro to Iceland, and the location was perfect for walking around the downtown city center and harbor area at all hours. Would definitely stay there again.

I don't plan on returning to the Hotel Borg. While the room and location were fine, the walls and floors are paper thin - I heard every move the people upstairs made and the racket from the people in the hallway. What's worse is there was some mixup about my checkout time - so the hotel believed I was checking out a day earlier than I really was. Instead […] of calling my room in the evening of that day (which I was in following dinner), the night manager took keys and came in my room at 2 AM! Imagine my surprise..making the situation worse, I had to be up to catch a 430 am shuttle to the airport, making it impossible to get any meaningful sleep. While the night manager apologized, it showed an amazing lack of common sense and courtesy to decide at that hour to check on the status of the room. The hotel even called the police to report a potential issue with a person who did not check out of the room - all before talking to me and realizing the simple mistake. I expect this "customer service" in the third world - not in Reykjavik. Taking my business elsewhere from now on. Les mer

Boutique hotel. You can't worry about technology. Live in the moment. No clocks or radios. Great location. Staff is very helpful. They will book all restaurants and trips.

Fantastic hotel, wonderful location and excellent staff, great for a romantic break. However, parquet floors can result in unacceptable noise if inconsiderate guests in rooms above do not avail themselves of the complimentary slippers and insist on walking around in high heeled shoes at night and dragging furniture around in the early hours of the morning, […] ear-plugs are a must! Sadly the restaurant was closed for refurbishment throughout our stay, we were not warned of this as we feel we should have been and the works started early and continued late into the evening. Thankfully, room was excellent, bathrooms amazing with the most wonderful showers and the staff were so helpful, would recommend Cafe Paris opposite for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Les mer

Hotel Borg is in a lovely square right in the centre of Reykjavik. The rooms are fabulous, very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Bathrobes, slippers, wifi, minibar, toilettries etc... The restaurant was closed due to renovations so unfortunately we couldn't try the food which apparently is superb, the bar staff were very friendly but the receptionists […] left a lot to be desired (I may be a bit picky as I work in the same industry). Overall it was a pleasant stay and I would definitely recommend. I'd also recommend Cafe Paris which is directly across the square, lovely food and good atmosphere. Les mer

This hotel is as good as it looks online. Beautifully styled in Art Deco furnishings and decor it is very impressive. We had a king size room which was exactly that, plenty of room to move about, HUGE bed with separate duvets - a must with a bed so huge! The beds are comfy, as where the pillows. The windows are triple glazed but we were still able […] to open them should we have wished. The room was clean and warm. The staff bent over backwards for us. I had arranged for a surprise bottle of champagne which they were very subtle about on our arrival and they then went out of their way to confirm our tour bookings and then called around searching for my camera tripod which I left in a tour van. They managed to locate it and have it returned back to the hotel for me. This Hotel is an excellent base for travelling around Reykjavik and you are just opposite the Cathedral and Parliament buildings and the best bar ever is only over the road (Micro bar - A MUST for any real ale drinkers) Les mer

A lovely place with great staff. Not a noisy place at all. The only thing we could improve is more storeage in the rooms. There is only a tiny wardrobe and a big room like this could take a chest of draws. Highly recommended though.

We were refused to have any sort of guest past 11:30, which is absurd on the weekends. They said it was policy and that it was in the information sent to us. It wasn't anywhere in any information. Considering disputing the charge because we had to make expensive plans on the fly.

The staff at Hotel Borg were fantastic. Everything we asked was given a quick response of "no problem." The hotel itself is in a great location near the parliament and several bars and restaurants. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel is nicely appointed rooms are very good and the beds very comfortable. Its very central. It is not a cheap hotel so if you are on a budget better to choose another hotel. The kitchen lets the hotel down and at Euros 18 the buffet breakfast is silly price for nothing special. We were told to avoid the restaurent. Attached to the hotel is the […] Icelandic bar which is good basic bar for a beer ....the hot food whilst adequate was always served coldish so a good quality burger is served luke warm with cold oily potatoe strings...no thanks! Part of the problem is that they have not as yet discovered plate warmers. Again the food is very overpriced in this bar. We were able to eat out at quality restaurents so our stay was I would say very good indeed ...we have stayed before and will stay again. Les mer

The hotel is very nice and the location is perfect for exploring Reykjavik. The only issue is that it can be a bit noisy at night if you face the main square because there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby that are open very late.

Lovely big room, very stylish. Not much wardrobe/drawer space so spent the holiday living out of suitcases but there's that much floor space that it didn't really matter. We had a room at the back of the hotel, which didn't have a great view but had little, if any, street noise. The reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast […] buffet in the restaurant is plentiful and fairly typical of Icelandic hotel breakfast, so won't disappoint, but is quite expensive. We didn't book B&B so had the option of going out to cafes. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant, but did look at the menu, which looked great and was nowhere near as expensive as the cost of breakfast lead us to believe - in fact, prices were very comparable with other popular restaurants. The bar next door, The Icelandic Bar, is associated with the hotel (I believe# - it's well worth a visit or two - a very pleasing collection of bottled beers #my favourite was the Einstock White Beer) and has a great and adventurous menu. I Loved This Hotel. We had the most wonderful room, it was a suite but I expect the smaller rooms were just as nice. The staff was friendly, helpful and could not do enough. If you found a similarly located top quality hotel in any other major city in Europe, you would pay a lot more - and not get a fantastic art deco hotel. The restaurant is excellent as well.

I stayed in the Borg Hotel in Reykjavik for a 4 day stop-over in October 2012. The location downtown is perfect if you want to explore the city on foot since all the restaurants, bars and stores are located in the immediate vicinity. I stayed in room 419 (A single bed)... the room was nice and big and the marble bathroom had headed floors and a heated […] towel rack; A robe and slippers were also included. Everything was super-modern, clean and just awesome. The hotel staff was very nice and helped me to book a tour in the last minute and order a bus pickup the airport. If I'd do another stop-over in Iceland I'd stay again at Hotel Borg. I've seen other tourists get dropped off at other hotels in the middle of nowhere (for example; the Hilton in Reykjavik is quite remote and you need a bus to go anywhere... no bars, no restaurants; quite isolated). If you want to explore the city on foot and be close to all the action and can afford to pay a little more for a true 4 Star Hotel, you can't go wrong with Hotel Borg. Les mer

Great hotel and would recommend staying here. Iceland itself is an excellent holiday destination. Reykjavik is a very funky city filled with hip locals, great restaurants and an excellent night life.

I had a dental emergency last week, great pain and stress, and the hotel staff saved me. They arranged an appointment with a dentist and helped me survive the pain. I have been saying at this hotel for eight years, and would not consider another hotel in Iceland. It's like home for me. R. Thompson

The quadruple double glazed windows work as keeping the sounds of the night revellors out of the room. We were very pleased with the excellent location, allowing site seeing on foot with the limited we had. I liked the style of the redecoration it was tasteful but not loud. This historic hotel is centrally located not only physically but also spiritually at the heart of Reykjavik. The last night of our stay, Icelandic presidential candidate Ari Trausti Gudmundsson and his retinue were celebrating promising poll results at midnight (prematurely, as it turned out). The hotel was great. To our surprise, we were upgraded to a suite. Our bathroom had heated floors with a rain shower. The bathtub wasn't draining properly but was improved (not 100% fixed) on the second day which was sufficient. Our room had Bang & Olufsen electronics throughout which was very impressive. I will say that the stereo had to have cost […] several thousand dollars but did not have a place to dock an iPod. I don't know if all of these features are in all room but we did have them in our suite. Lastly, the hotel is near a few bars so there is a noise factor but not enough to keep us away if we're in town again. Overall, a great stay and would definitely recommend to a friend. Les mer

All staff were extremely helpful and accomidating. The hotel itself could not be located in a better part of the city; central to most everything. My only suggestion is that the hotel invest in a health facility (e.g., either on premise or in partnership with a nearby gym).

Iceland is unique. Extremely clean. No air pollution.No water polution. But lauguage is very difficult. Usually I can guess at times what a foreign word means. Could not do it in Iceland. I was excited to stay at the Borg, as I have a love of art deco and historical inns. The hotel has retained much of its original charm, and my room was very comfortable. However, the finishes were quite tired, for example chips in the paint and worn tiles in the bathroom, ratty edges on the towels. The hotel staff were competent, but stiff, although […] I was quite happy to be able to check in early, and stash my skis in a stoage room. I liked that there were artifacts on display from the hotel's past and from the original owner. The location of the hotel is fantastic, near to downtown Reykjavik and the waterfront, and overlooking a park. Breakfast was an option, although it was rather steep. My biggest beef with Borg was that I felt as though my room was in the maid's quarters. It was in a group of four rooms that was seperate from the other guest rooms, and could only be accessed by a service elevator. Overall, Hotel Borg was fine. It just needs a little more polish around the edges to restore it to its glory. Les mer

If you are looking for a 5 star luxury experience, Hotel Borg is not it. Having said that, it is very, very nice with a terrific location. The main shopping and restaurant district is around the corner. The staff was attentive and service oriented. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The furnishings were also attractive with a cool art deco […] design. The hotel appears to consist of two connected buildings. Our 4th floor room was in the new building, facing the street. It had a pleasant view of a square. It was a little noisy at night because of a bar/restaurant at the street level. We did not mind, but if you want a quiet room you might want to specifically ask for one. Our connecting room was at the back of the hotel and our children said it was quiet. This is a wonderful hotel. One of the older buildings in downtown Reykjavik. Our room on the 5th floor was perfect for a family, we have one young son. The only reason I would give this hotel a 3 is that when I booked both the hotel websight and expedia listed a bar and resturant. When we arrived we found that the resturant no longer existed and there was no bar or lounge. They were working on a new one. Also the noise would be a factor if you weren't on a higher floor and in the back of the hotel. […] The staff was pleasant and fixed the mix up that they created when they booked my excursions.
