"Not in great shape"
The motel was quite shabby, only a tiny space for the breakfast with rickety chairs. I can't imagine why it has a 5 Sunburst rating.

Excellent value...a simple no frills motel... Front desk very helpful.... simple breakfast in the morning.. great affiliation with local gym just down the road...We highly recommend this, worked perfectly for us when in town for Hope College events.

Roomed smelled. Had to ask for air freshener. There was a leak in the ceiling in hallway. Had to walk around it. My husband was dripped on.
"Quite a surprise"
I had read some less than favorable reviews of this hotel so I was a little nervous upon checking in. It's an older hotel, so it certainly doesn't have that "clinical" feel, but it was tidy and efficient! Our toilet didn't flush upon our arrival- and we were immediately moved. It was a good experience. The staff was very responsive!

First off, this place deserves more credit than what I've seen in the reviews. Sure I got a deal to stay here and I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel, and it has its flaws...but let's start with the good. Convenience. Good location if you are like me and my wife and are just looking for a base camp to save money so you can spend it on whats IMPORTANT […] in traveling..the sights, the scenery, the food...I don't spend my vacation in a hotel and neither should you. The service was attentive and friendly. The staff was very responsive to my requests. I'm not saying that they catered to my every beck and call, but when I needed more milk for breakfast and when someone spilled their juice at the breakfast area, they stopped what they were doing to make things right. That's all that SHOULD be expected at a place like this. Don't expect to come here and complain about something and it to be instantly fixed by a team of white gloved butlers who come and wipe the tears off of your whiny face. If I were to spend my vacation time and money on a 5 star hotel I would expect that, but not here. The bedding was clean and I found to be very soft and comfortable. There was a fridge and microwave that were clean and convenient and the air worked great. The bad. The bathroom was on the below average side for cleanliness. To be more specific, The towels were clean and well kept, but the floor and tub could have used a good scrubbing... but it wasn't appalling. Nothing that a pair of flip flops can't fix. Sure you probably think I'm "right out the trailer" for that last statement, but I know what comes with the territory of rustic camping and traveling. Room was nasty smelling! Smelled a bit like urine. Thank goodness I bring Febreze with me for hotel stays. Bathroom was the size of a matchbook. Breakfast OJ tasted 3 weeks old, thought I was gonna get sick. I would not ever stay there again.

The service was excellent. I had absolutey NO problems at all. When I asked for extra towels, I got them right away, and the same with coffee. Also, the location of the hotel is close to all the awesome sights to see in Holland, and Lake Michigan.

Good hotel if you can't get a room in Saugatuck. Hotel is old and out of date, but the room was very clean. If your looking for a convienent location and a clean place to shower and sleep this is it.

The hotel was just fine for our one night stay. It was a bit tricky finding how to get to it from the main road but we did eventually figure it out. The road system here is very different than any I've traveled before in the USA. You cannot make a left turn along the highway but must make a right onto the highway and then a U turn. Great place for an overnight stay... the best feature is the outdoor pool, very clean. The breakfast bar is ok, but good for a quick bite before hitting the road. We stay here 2 times each year.
"Less than basic"
This hotel is very basic. There is NOT an elevator so if carrying bags up stairs is an issue for you, do not stay here. There are only 2 floors though. We had a room with a king bed and pull-out couch and when the couch was opened to the bed, there was little to no room to walk around past the king bed, in fact the opened hide-a-bed literally touched […] the front of the below-window a/c. We have previously stayed at the Microtel 2 buildings down but tried the Days Inn this time so the kids could swim. In our room of this Days Inn, there were brown spot stains, which i could only partially wash off, on the walls around the sink. The underside of the king comforter had a stain on it too. The bathroom appeared clean as did the sheets. When my kids swam, wearing goggles as they always do, they reported the water was cloudy. I think I will go back to Microtel. It's king + hide-a-bed rooms are much more spacious and it never felt dirty there. Les mer
Wierd crowd of people. Hallways smelled like Pot all the time.. The pool was not that great. Was there 5 days and sheets were never changed... Not what I expected.. Not that clean or updated either

Although the hotel was affordable I wouldn't recommend it. We stayed four nights and room service only came once.The person that checked us in was not very polite. Also I booked the hotel at a flat rate with no additional fees, yet when we returned home my credit card was charged with more fees.

"Not a great place to stay"
This hotel was not a good place to stay. It smelled funny- like stale smoke. Also the shower curtain had mold on it, and the bed smelled like mold. The continental breakfast was stale and there were not a lot of choices. Will not be back. Not worth the money.

Accommodations were as expected in this price range. No frills, but safe and clean. Desk service was excellent and very helpful.

Easy location. The room was clean, but our bathroom smelt like smoke when it was steamed by the shower. Also, there were no locks on the outside door, you could just walk into the building. That didn't seem safe

Our hotel key did not work, we had to get the guy at the desk everytime to reprogram our keys. The hotel was filthy! We had screaming people all around us to the point that other guests were complaining. I'm pretty sure there was a hooker outside!! The parking lot was so poorly lit, you couldn't see anything. The shower went from hot to cold and back […] again the entire time using it and it felt like the floor was going to give way. Do not stay here. The Microtel is the same price and looks much nicer! ok for the $. nothing ritzy and older hotel so u can smell old smoke in hallway. Nice to have a swimming pool tho pretty noisy with hwy traffic so close. Staff was very nice, room was clean, bathroom very small. Best thing is it's 10 min from Saugatuck and about 15 min from Lake Mich/Ottawa Beach. Nice to have complimentary breakfast/coffee tho again […] nothing fancy. Les mer
Non-smoking room smelled of very stale, old cigarette smoke. Hotel was somewhat run down. The beds had new mattresses which were comfortable.

This place was a complete dump. I made sure I parked my car directly under a lamp post for fear it would be broken in to. I would not recommend this place to anyone no matter the circumstances.

OUTSIDE THE GRASS WAS NOT CUT. HOTEL LOBBY DIRTY. THIS HOTEL WAS SO DIRTY AND SMELLED OF SMOKE EVERYWHERE. ROOOMS I LOOKED AT WERE AWFUL. BLOOD STAINED MATTRESS ,WALLS DIRTY .CARPET FITHLY. WOULD NOT SEND ANYONE THERE.
"False Charge at Hotel in Holland"
I paid for my room in advance to Hotels.com. I used no extra services and checked in/out on time. When I checked out, no mention of an additional charges was made. However, the Hotel billed my credit card $1.50 extra without my knowledge.

This was the most inexpensive hotel in the area so I was concerned especially after reading prior reviews. It was worst than expected. The hallway including our room was heavy with cigarette smoke. The air conditioning helped mitigate some of the smoke but not all. The sheets and furniture were stained which was a decided turn off even if they were […] clean. The bolt to lock the door did not work. The continental breakfast was awful, we left to eat breakfast in town. The size of the room, the fridge and microwave were pluses but not enought to make the experience worth it. Unless you are on a super tight budget, I would not recommend this hotel. The staff couldn't do enough to help us, and everyone was pleasant and kind. The room was very clean, and the breakfast was adequate. We thought the hotel was a good deal for what we paid on a weekend night in high season.

We found the Days Inn in Holland to be clean and comfortable. It is an economy motel so do not expect any extras. The beds were comfortable and we would stay again. Traffic was noticeable so ask for room away from road if you have trouble sleeping.

There are no hair conditioners in the hotel, so make sure you bring your own. The hotel is kind of old, I would bring my own pillow if I know ahead. In general, the rooms are clean. I like their swimming pool.
