"WOnderful neighbourhood in Paris"
Wonderful. Hotel maintenance at present with painting the halls and updating security so a bit of a mess.(April 2012)Super place, close to shops and the Seine. I'd go there again
"Abbatiel de St German Paris"
In a city hotel, the view is not important. You go outside to get all the views. The size of room does not matter too much either since you don't spend much time in it. The important things are the position ,cleanliness, atitude of staff. None of these things can be faulted. Our room was very small but beautifully decorated. The beds could not have […] been more comfortable. We could not see Notre Dame from our room, but could walk to it within 5 minutes. Their were lots of cafes in the area; in Particular The Petit Pointoise just round the corner where we had our best meals in Paris Les mer

"Room, service and price do not match up"
Singleroom was dark (3rd floor) and unwelcoming with view onto a bathroom window (2m distance). Hotel was fully booked according to staff. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, this should be declared on the webside, as I wasn't keen on that. Location is good. Room, service and price did not match up for me, I have expected more. Therefor I […] do not recommend this hotel. Les mer

"Not very impressed"
Room was extremely small. I booked a double superior room through hotels.com, was under the impression in came with a balcony and view. Instead I recieved a double room with a view that looked out to pipes in the inner section of hotel. We had to pay in advance at booking, no chance of cancelling and switching to another hotel without losing what we […] paid. Don't believe the photos on the website. Maintenance was going on the entire time we were there. It was very noisy and messy in the hallway and the light outside our room door didn't work during our stay. The shower was tretcherous, nearly slipped and fell a couple of times and the hairdryer was repaired with duck tape. The only good part about the hotel was it's location. Les mer
"A very cozy clean small hotel"
I stayed in this hotel for one night when I visited Paris by myself, and I had a good time staying at this hotel. The room was very clean, and the shower very comfortable, although it was not a very big room, but it was very cozy and quiet. The location is quite convenient, situated in Latin Quarter, it is very close to the subway station and also can […] within the walking distance to the two most famous cafes at Latin Quarter. I would recommend this hotel. Les mer

"Hotel Abbatial Saint Germain"
Rooms: Great standard for a 3 star Hotel! The staff were really accommodating - as well at front desk as at breakfast. Excellent breakfast! One minus: No check in for airport, but room for improvement... :)
"hotel abbatial paris"
We were told that our room had a queen bed and it was a 4ft 6ins double. we spoke to the lady on the desk who said that was the biggest bed they had! The room was so small that you would not have fitted a king let alone a queen in the room. The lift was broken the whole of our stay and there was no offer of help with our luggage and we were on the 5th […] floor.... The walk up the many stairs reveiled a very tired and badly maintained ie wall switches hanging off .stairway.. Not impressed..... Les mer
"Great experience"
Arrived to the hotel without knowing what to expect. Was greeted by a friendly cheerful woman in the reception. We had booked standard double rooms. These are small so if you need big space you must upgrade. The rooms were clean and functional. We only sleep and shower there so it worked out fine for us. The hotel is close to the Notre Dame church […] and the Latin quarters, which was what we wanted. A taxi spot just 200m away was also very handy. The breakfast is a little bit expensive compared to diners just outside the door. The diners also have a bigger variety of food to choose from. All in all a very nice hotel, reasonably priced, nice staff and a good location. For the next trip to Paris we would not have any hesitation with booking here again. Les mer
"Abbatial St Germain"
Very convenient neighbourhood - can walk everywhere, rooms are small but typical for Paris, soundproofness is poor but overall good hotel.
"Lovely little hotel, with nice but tiny rooms"
Well appointed hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. The building is old but the rooms are modern and plush, with our only grouse is that they are tiny (plus ours also had a weird picture of a woman looking at us), but at that price in the heart of Paris one can't really complain. Bathroom was spotless and of a good size, with excellent fittings […] and a very well powered shower that just comes on at the perfect temperature (this is a must for me!) I am not an early sleeper so can't comment on how noisy or not the room is (returned to the room only well past 3 am) and didn't use the breakfast facilities so no comment on that. Also appears to have the world's tiniest lift (elevator) that can barely accomodate two people... Location is also excellent for transport as well as sightseeing, and there are good cafes and restaurants around. Les mer
"Great location and very nice people"
The hotel staff was very helpful with any and all questions we had about Paris and how to get around.
"Great location for a few days in the city"
Stayed at this hotel last weekend and had a great time. Location: Yeah, this is great. It's 5 minutes from Notre Dame (plus the metro and B line RER for CDG airport). Being on Saint Germain meant it was in an area with a bit of life and not a sleepy suburb which made it very enjoyable if this is what you were after. If you're young or young at heart, […] you'll love the location. Paris is pretty easy to get around but being close to a larger station helped (there is another one closer, but we didn't use that one as there was no need). Room: A little on the small side but then my wife and I don't take up that much room so it was adequate for our needs. We aren't the type to spend much time in the hotel anyway. It's a base for exploring. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom facilities functional and cupboards large enough for our clothes. Yes, if here for longer than a week it may have got a bit annoying but for the time we were there it was fine. Room came with a safe, hairdryer, tv and large double doors looking out over St Germain. Only trouble we had was that the room was rather warm. My wife was fine but I'm a hot sleeper and this made it a little uncomfortable. I ended up opening the doors but this created a bit of road noise. We sleep fairly heavily so it wasn't an issue but may be for some - plus it was a Sunday, so not much traffic. Breakfast: Unknown as there is a GREAT bakery down the road which I'd HIGHLY recommend. Other facilities: There is a lift which I hear is rare in Paris but it was a little on the small side (and made a few noises!) but it worked fine. Depending on your size and your baggage, it might be a one-at-a-time job but we were able to squeeze in together with two rucksacks. Overall, I'd highly recommend this hotel. It's perfect for a short break if you intend to explore the city. Les mer
"Easy location, Beautiful Room"
Having stayed in Paris several times, this was my first time in the Latin Quarter. This neighborhood is more relaxed than say Arc de Triomph or Galleries d'Lafayette, however, it was just steps from the Notre Dam and the Pantheon. The service was excellent, polite and gave great restuarant recommendations. THe room was slightly bigger than others […] I've seen in Paris, the bathroom was as well. Very nice looking room with standard (2) double beds pushed together. Smart decorations and nice balcony windows that open. My only complaint was that being on Floor 1 meant that all the smoke from smokers on the sidewalk drifted up into our room. Ask for a higher floor. Les mer
"Great location, small room"
I was quite satisfied with this hotel overall. Very convenient location. Clean room. Nice breakfast area. The only drawback was that my bathroom was tiny, to the point of being difficult to move in.
"A nice surprise"
The single room was small by American standards but was very agreeable over-all for this single American tourist. The staff was pleasant and helpful as needed. The room itself was sufficiently appointed and the cleanliness of the room and quality of the linens was first rate. The location was ideal for many of the great sites - especially Notre Dame. […] I did not eat at the hotel but took advantage of the many fine eateries in the neighborhood. I would go back again! RLS from Palm Beach Les mer
"Great location once you get"
past the front desk. My initial response to this hotel was much less enthusiastic because of the unfriendly, bureaucratic first meeting. I've never been asked for my passport number in a three star hotel, so I figure this hotel has had some troubles giving clients its immediate trust. (Take note that I had paid our two night stay in full in advance.) […] The fellow at the front desk also wanted to know EXACTLY what time I was leaving two days hence and it felt invasive; he explained rather poorly why he wanted to know. However, other hotel clerks were very helpful a day later and I'll also forgive that we didn't get a smoke free room even though it was requested. This hotel has a perfect, central location to walk just about everywhere you want to go -- the sights, restaurants, cafes, small grocery stores and patisseries abound. The Seine is about a 10minute walk and there is a small but fun, daily market up the street. You can't leave your window open at night due to the noise on the street, but you only sleep there, right? "Amazing value, location and view"
This hotel was in a great location, the room was very comfortable and make sure to ask for one on the 5th floor. They have balconies with a view if Notre Dame. Its situated perfectly, one block to the seine and walking distance to pretty much everything and for those who don't want to walk, its just as easy to get on multiple metro lines nearby. I'm […] going to stay here my next trip to Paris!! Les mer
"Great Experience"
The hotel is close to the Metro where you can get anywhere quickly. The Pantheon is a few blocks in one direction and Notre Dame is about the same distance away in the other direction. There are markets and pasterie shops a block away and lots of restaurants. Be sure to walk the alleyways around St. Severin where small restaurants crowd into the streets. […] Ask for a room that's not on St. Germaine if you want a quieter experience. The elevator is small, so go for the second or third floor. The 5th floor is a hike. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was a decent size with a tub/shower combo. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning was almost too cool and couldn't be adjusted. Would stay there again. Les mer
"Abbatial Saint Germain - Paris - Latin Quarter"
Fabulous location, friendly and helpful staff. Normal room size by European standards, small by US standards (1.5 to 2 ft clearance all around bed). Room AC - not really. Honor bar. Decent size bath. WiFi 4.5€ per hr. Wallpaper, carpet, bedspreads worn, but clean. Good hotel for the price. Close to metro.
"Abbatial St. Germain hotel in Paris"
A cozy, vintage Paris hotel with personality. Within easy walking distance of many Paris "must see" sites and eateries. Clean and comfortable, we would definitely recommend.
"Perfect for Paris"
We stayed here after looking at several reviews of nearby hotels. Our room was perfect for the trip. Very clean, simple, and easy access to Notre Dame as well as the subways. Room small but comfortable. They are strict on the check in time, not before 2pm. Overall it was a great hotel.

"Hotel Abbatail Paris, don't look anywhere else!"
After hearing lots of bad reports about hotels in Paris we were delighted with this hotel. It was exactly where we wanted to be, in an area within easy walking distance of Notre Dame and Le Marais. There is a bus from outside the hotel which takes you to Trocadera and the Tour Eiffel (very cheap). Around the corner are lots of restaurants to chose from […] (including vegetarian). The staff were really helpful, phoned for our shuttle bus, printed out maps of places we wanted to find. We did not eat the breakfast as there were so many other places to go to. Would strongly recommend this hotel. Les mer
"Great hotel, Friendly Staff, even better location!"
I stayed at Abbatial Saint Germain for four days on business. The staff was very frienly (to a non-French speaker), and the conditions of the room were excellent (by European standards. I've stayed in Paris numerous times (even at the Intercontential) and this was by far the best hotel yet. The location couldn't be better, close to Notre Dame, close […] to a restaurants and shops. "Value Stay in Great Location"
This hotel offers all that a traveler needs who is looking for a convenient location where the city bustle of Paris is just outside your door (and windows too - if that bothers you, be warned, but for me, it was fine). The rooms are decent sized for Paris, not large, but adequate and the decor is a bit faded but stylish enough. Very clean rooms and […] bathrooms, great shower/water pressure. Beds were a bit hard (we had two rooms, same situation for each). For the pleasure traveler looking to be in the happening Latin Quarter and 5 minutes from Notre Dame, it's location can't be beat. Only met one staff person. She was professional and helped when asked but did not go out of her way to offer maps, answer questions, etc. Felt very safe and great view out window. Breakfast was extra so we skipped it. Les mer
The rooms were small but the location couldn't have been more perfect. The elevator was broken which was a problem carrying a lot of luggage upstairs but other than that which I'm sure will be fixed, I would highly recommend the hotel.
"110% satisfied"
We have stayed in more expensive hotels in Paris but cannot fault this one for location, service, staff friendlyness and helpfulness, room size with good bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. We have travelled extensively and certainly rate our stay as excellent value for the $. And been able to walk nearly everywhere was such a bonas. A Great find and […] we would definately stay again! "Lovely little hotel in the Latin Quarter"
Extremely polite staff, extremely clean, very convenient location. I plan to stay there on my next trip to Paris.
"No space, but no problems"
My first stay at a hotel in Paris, but I'd heard that the norm is small rooms - that's certainly true here. On the other hand, it works fine if you're planning on being out and about most of the time (which is why you went to Paris, after all). Staff was friendly. Beds comfortable. TV tiny. In room safe handy. We didn't haqve any problem with street […] noise, perhaps because we were on the side street side of the building. Good location - two block walk to nearest metro station, four to Notre Dame, about a mile to the Louvre. Neighborhood has a nice busy vibe, not too touristy. Before going I read conflicting reports about the breakfast at the hotel. We ate there three mornings out of six. It's convenient and fast (self-serve), food is OK and it's all you can eat. Scrambled eggs, croissants & bread, cheese, yogurt, cold cereal, juice, coffee/tea/hot chocolat. On the other hand, you can get a petit dejuener outside for a few Euros less, but less food and less convenience. Speaking of food, there are restaurants all over the neighborhood for other meals, most with menus that have English translation. A word a lesson I learned the hard way: before you exchange money at one of the "Change" establishments on the street, ask them exactly how many Euros you will get for your dollars. I stopped at one place because of the great rate advertised in the window, and discovered too late that they hadn't mentioned a 12% commission on the exchange. If you're going to a lot of museums and other attractions, buy the 2/4/6 day museum pass (at the airport or many other locations); it saves money and most places you only have to stand in one line per site rather than two. "Consistent and conveniente"
This was our second stay at Hotel Abbatial. Even though 5 years have passed since our first visit, everything was as we remembered it, which is rare these days. The desk employees were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and everything worked nicely. The location is great for us, easy walk to many important locations in Paris as well as shopping […] and the wonderful Erik Kayser boulangerie/pâtisserie just a short block away! Les mer
"Abbatial St. Germain in Paris - nice hotel"
The staff very friendly and helpful. Vanessa was at the front desk most of the time - she was very professional, her English was good and she was very knowledgeable. The hotel is small and charming. The elevator was small, but it was great to have it since we were on the 5th floor. Room was small as expected but nice with sufficient room for clothes […] ( with enough hangers!) Bathroom had tub, shower and hair dryer. A/C worked well. The 12 Euro breakfast sounded a bit high at first but was complete - scrambled eggs, bread, croissants, cheese, cereal, orange juice and coffee, tea, etc. Since it included the tax and beverages, it was a good deal for Paris. Location was convenient for walking or taking the Metro and was in a safe area. It was a short walk to Notre Dame. We walked to Luxemburg Garden, the Louve, Arch d'Triumph and even the Eiffel Tower but took the Metro back. The Metro stop was only a block from the hotel. There was even a laundromat nearby. Good hotel in a good location for the price. Les mer
"Great view -- FANTASTIC location"
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and they exceeded my expectations both times. The front desk was friendly and went out of their way to help us, even in setting up restaurant reservations. The rooms are nice (small, but normal by european standards), and they moved us at our request to a room on the top floor street level (which have, […] by far, the best views). I will stay here again and again. Les mer
"great room and location for the money"
very close to Notre Dame, with mostly friendly staff (two of the men were not so helpful, but the other man and the two women were fantastic and friendly!). The room was typically smallish, but clean and enough space so that I wasn't tripping over my suitcase. The bathroom was fine, although the shower door always caused a river of water to end up […] on the floor. Finally we shoved a towel in the track under the door and that solved it :-) Basically, it was a good value for the money, with the expected sort of hiccups that you get when you are not spending your life's savings on a hotel room. "Charming Paris Hotel"
I have stayed in this area of Paris many times in the past and this hotel is exactly what you would expect for a very nice three star hotel with a quaint ambiance and for a fair price. The lobby was comfortable and inviting. The staff spoke English and was helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean, with modern air conditioning and soundproofed […] windows, that once closed kept out all noise. Television had international channels; there was a private safe, a minibar, direct dial telephone, and free Wi-Fi internet access even in my room on the top floor. The bed provided a good sound night's sleep. There is a lift to all floors. The bathroom was modern with a tub with shower and a hair dryer. The room had a balcony from where you could see the nearby spires of Notre Dame. The breakfast should be considered for the extra tariff and ambiance of the authentic 18th century vaulted stone ceiling cellar. The location was on a nice square near a metro stop (Maubert Mutualité), making for easy access to and from all of Paris, and is just down the street from the bridge between Île Saint-Louis (quaint shops and restaurants) and Île de la Cité (where Notre Dame is located). It is also near the Pantheon, and is in the heart of the Latin Quarter. I would definitely recommend staying here for a romantic getaway or a sightseeing weekend in Paris. I’ll be back. Les mer
