Hampton Inn Duluth Canal Park - Duluth

I was unfortunately near the elevator, and inconsiderate people were very loud as they waited and got on. Also, housekeeping very loud in the halls in the morning. The room was nice and the view was beautiful. I just need to make sure that my room is not by the elevator next time. I wonder if they put me there because I was a hotels.com reservation? […] Just a thought. Les mer

They have a great breakfast, great location-right on the Lakewalk and friendly staff. But I do have two things to point out. First, the LCD tv was nice but the picture quality was sub-par. Second, the comforters on both beds had lumpy polyfill. This is no 5 star resort but you can believe that the price you pay is mostly for the location.

This is a very nice hotel in a very nice location. The room was very nice, with a fridge and a microwave. We had a partial view of the lake, and could see the barges coming in. The pool was great and the kids had a blast. The hotel was within walking distance of the aquarium, the maritime museum and lots of shopping and dining. Oh yes, the breakfasts […] were great! Very nice, clean hotel. A little high on the price.

Right on the lake and in canal park near all of the shops, restaurants, and bars. Comfortable, clean rooms, and good breakfast. Will definitely stay there again.

We would have no hesitation recommending the Hampton Inn to anyone ravelling to Duluth. We were there 5th - 9th April *The staff were extremely helpful and friendly *The room was a good size and very clean - as was the bathroom - and the temperature easily controlled *The situation was perfect for easy access to restaurants, shops etc. *Free coffee […] & hot chocolate 24/7 - and free cookies & fruit the weekend we were there but maybe that was just for Easter - not sure. It seems churlish to mention our one negative observation but we felt the decision to use polystyrene bowls & plates and plastic cutlery (at the otherwise excellent breakfast provision) hardly seemed an economically or ecologically sound one. That aside, a great hotel which we would certainly use again. Les mer

Great location, had pool to ourselves three times as we stayed during the week. Nice boardwalk in front by Lake Superior. Breafast included makes it easy with kids.

I was impressed with our stay at the Hampton Inn. It's in a very convenient location across from Canal Park restaurants and close to downtown Duluth. The front desk staff were very helpful and the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Great location for the price!

Couldn't ask for anything better. It was exactly what we wanted, including the price.The room was very clean and cozy!

We stayed here when my daughter participated in the Polar Plunge. The hotel was very well maintained and super clean. We got very good service from the front desk staff at check in and later in the evening regarding hooking up a DVD player. Beautiful view and location on the lake and walking distance to everything fun.

I was very impressed with this property. I had previously stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown which was very run-down and in need of significant updating. The rooms at the Hampton Inn were very well appointed, new and clean. The lobby and breakfast offerings were beyond expectations and the staff was very courteous. I stayed here for business and found it to be much better priced than the surrounding hotels. It was great. And nice variety of breakfast overlooking Lake Superior. Very satisfied!

I found out that the hotel put a $50 debit on my card "just in case" I had incidental charges. They did this without notifying me first. I am not aware of this being common practice at hotels where we have stayed. We are frequent travelers and have not had this situation before. I called them and was told that the charge would be credited to me within […] 72 hours. So....they have MY money tied up for 3 days???NOT OK! I will probably NOT stay there again. The room was rather small and the bathroom as well. The bathroom had been "remodeled" but the tile around the tub was NOT and the grout was dirty. I asked about a truly handicap accessible room with a walk-in shower but they do not have one! Pity the person who is wheelchair-bound. DID appreciate the flat screen TV but the menu for the programs was clunky and inefficient. Appreciate the free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was pretty generic. The attendant was nice and kept things re-stocked. Nice sunroom to watch the sunrise over Lake Superior. We were in town due to my husband having surgery and I later learned of other hotels that have medical rates far cheaper than here. Will probably stay at one of them if we need to stay over again. Les mer

I stayed at this hotel because a few of my hockey team mates. I was not aware at booking times that I would not be alowed to bring my hockey stick into my room. I understand why the hotel would not want people playing hockey in the hallways, but I had indicated to the desk that I had over $500 invested in my hockey sticks and I was not about to leave […] them behind the desk or wanted to leave them in my vehicle as it is hard to conceal a hockey stick. We are an adult women's team, not a child's team. It was also in the plan that my team was going to book a weekend upcoming this march as we have a hockey tournament, but being we are unable to bring our sticks into our rooms, we will not be (nor ever) booking with this hotel again. Upon our arrival we were very happy with the hotel, rooms, staff, everything until and wanted to book a block of rooms, but after this incident we will take our business elsewhere as we visit Duluth twice a year for hockey. I really enjoyed my stay no complaints other than wasnt allowed to bring hockey sticks into the rooms but can bring in a big, bulky hockey bag that can smash into anything if the player is not careful bringing in the hockey bag.. Thats why the hotel reserves a credit card so they can charge any damages, if at all, that are caused by the customer.

This hotwl is beautiful. From the 4 season lakeside room to relax, to the free wifi, warm indoor swimming pool, we experienced a wonderful winter retreat. The only disappointment for us was the breakfast. While they served hot food favorites like waffles, their melon fruit was rotten, their eggs are powdered eggs, and their "sausage" was little more […] than cut weiners. They did have a toaster, microwave, and free hot chocolate, but they could have done better. We will stay here again, but it won't be for the breakfast. Les mer

As usual, Hampton Inn's are always a very nice place to stay. The room was nice, clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Great breakfast with beautiful view of Lake Superior. The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous.

Excellent location near the waterfront in Duluth. Excellent dining and nightlife nearby. Complimentary USA Today in the morning was a nice touch. Friendly and helpful staff. Only negative was that that basic reasonable noise from the hallway could easily be heard in the room. However, i would definately stay there again.

Had a great experience here. It was in the off-season, so I was able to get a great rate for a one-night business trip. Would love to stay there again.

Stay was very brief but we were impressed by the room, for the rate. It was nicer than others in the area and for a better price, (we've stayed in many of the hotels in the area).

Had a great stay. Bed was comfortable, towels were so soft and everything was walking distance. Breakfast was very good. A little bit of something for everyone. Nice variety.

We were very pleased with the hotel and location. Canal Park is a beautiful area to visit on the shores of Lake Superior with close access to plenty to do. We were also quite pleased with the free breakfast which was very extensive, however, there was a long line for it! Great views on the lake side. Nice lounge for relaxing or watching ships. Walking distance to everything.

We really enjoyed the convenience of this hotel. You can eat breakfast, then walk right out the back door to the boardwalk. My girls loved playing on the shoreline behind the hotel. Only a couple minute walk to anything you want...bars, food, shops, canal, and lift bridge.

We loved our room. It was clean and comfortable. Lots of variety at continental breakfast. The hotel is so close to everything. We were able to walk, eat and shop close to our hotel. We saw ships passing through from our hotel room. My kids loved it. The pool was clean and warm enough. I would stay again.

We chose this hotel because it was on Canal Park and close to the water. The room was large enough for four of us to be there comfortably. There was also a room that looked over the lake and had chairs and sofas to lounge in. Very nice lake watching. Breakfast was a hot breakfast and was "hot" and tasty. My only recommendation is that they add another […] waffle iron as there was always a line for the waffle maker. Great location near the canal. Shoppes and restaurants within walking distance a trolley that stopped right in front of the hotel that took you downtown. Only .50 per person. Good deal if you didn't want to drive. Very comfortable beds and pillow. Large bathroom was very clean. Overall a perfect choice to stay while in Duluth. Les mer

We enjoyed our stay at the Hampton Inn in Duluth and would recommend it. It is conveniently located on in Canal Park and on the Lake Walk on Lake Superior directly in back of it with beautiful flowers and tables to sit at. They have a great complimentary breakfast in the morning and even have cookies and apples out in the afternoon for you to take. […] I accidently set my keys down in the bathroom by the lobby and someone had already turned them in for me when I went to look for them. It is a very cozy relaxed atmosphere and close to Caribou and shops right across the street. My family loves to stay here!. Les mer

Although we stayed during the 4th of July, we did not hear any hallway noise. My only complaint would have to be the person upstairs of us walking very heavily early in the morning.

Our one night stay was just what we wanted. The Hotel was in a great location and the room we stayed in was very satisfying. Very comfortable bed along with clean (looking and smelling) sheets and wonderful pillows. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and coffee and hot chocolate was ready throughout the day/night. Service (front desk and breakfast crew) […] was fantastic. We were told that they wanted security to watch our room and that they were worried for us due to us being close to some bachelor parties. We didn't hear a thing and were very happy to hear that they were trying to take care of us while we were sleeping. Parking was also good and the hotel was convienient and close to all of the attractions and minutes away from anything. I would recommend this hotel if you are in town for the day, week or weekend.
