Holiday Inn Muskegon-Harbor - Muskegon

I attended a weekend seminar at the hotel. It was very clean and the service was excellent. My only complaint is that almost all of the ice machines were out of order.

This was our 2nd stay here while we are working on our boat at a local marina. Rooms and bed were good and clean-staff and restaurant service was good- pool area-especially hot tub and steam room-need updates and consistent cleaning.

Woke up from sound sleep when idiots in next room arrived at 12:30 am. Connecting door has no insulation. Screaming kids. Loud tv. It was so bad I could hear sound of fast food paper bags. Ready to complain to front desk when an adult finally told the kids to be quiet. Duh! I have traveled all over the world and never, ever had a room so loud. The pool room was extremely cold. The room was passable. The tub had stains in the bottom.

We enjoyed our 3 day stay over the Christmas holidays. As a family we chose this hotel because of the pool. We all traversed down to the pool ready to jump in only to discover it was ice cold! Why was the pool area even open at all? Also, local calls were free, but even after requesting our phone wouldn't allow for this, nothing was done. Staff was very helpful,rooms were very clean and beds very comfortable. The neighborhood was a little run down,but clean and we never felt unsafe. We have another event there next year and will probably book this hotel again

We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn. For an older hotel it is very well kept up and the facilities are comfortable.

Hotel is older and could use some fresh paint and carpet in some areas, but was comfortable overall. Our heating unit made a klunking noise when it cycled on and off, but we got used to it. We also noticed some ants in the bathroom and notified the front desk and they sent someone to take care of it. Had a bit of a time trying to regulate the shower […] temperature from cool to scalding hot and settled on "luke warm." The hotel provides Bath and Body Works toiletries which are a nice touch and free breakfast buffet for Priority Club Members which is a big plus. The hotel itself was a decent experience. However, the restaurant service was horrendous. Several people got up and left because they couldn't get service. We had to pester people to get drinks and get our order out. When I told the manager of the restaurant that he was losing customers and we had been waiting awhile, he didn't take me seriously and […] continued to run around the restaurant/bar looking like he had no clue what he was doing. Considering there aren't any other places to eat nearby and that we hadn't made time to drive somewhere and come back, it was disappointing that we had to wait over an hour just for our food to come out. We were in Muskegon for a wedding, and so we were only here for one night. But we enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was helpful. The hotel was centrally located, close to restaurants and bars. I would recommend this to anyone.

Only complaint is that the air conditioner was programmed and either complicated to use or wasn't working properly. The room got slightly hot. Overall, this hotel experience exceeded my expectations.

Stay was satisfactory. The bolt over lock was broken, the toilet water ran continuously, the room was dated and very basic. Switched to another room, and the door caught on the trim that was coming apart. Hair clip on the drapes from previous guests! Restaurant closes early - had to go across the street to another hotel to eat! And if you like to watch […] the TV, it was super grainy and snowy - hard to see the picture. Les mer

The location is right at the center of downtown. Quite and clean.

This is a typical Holiday Inn - a mid-range hotel with a pool and, therefore, lots of families with kids. We stayed on a busy holiday weekend so the noise was perhaps not surprising. Our room was furnished very strangely, however. In place of a typical work desk was a large square table with two large armchairs positioned on either side of the table. […] Not only would the chairs not fit under the table, but it was impossible to turn them to work on my laptop without great effort. Finally, the reading light provided for the two queen beds was a single lamp positioned between the two beds - insufficient for either of us to read by. That was solved by relocating a floor lamp that, also strangely, was standing in a corner next to the mini-fridge, It seemed to me that this room had been furnished with leftovers, but I have not stayed in a Holiday Inn for a while so perhaps this is state-of-the-art. The rooms were very nice seemed that they recently remodeled. The pool was yuck! Especially the hot tub it was dirty water the sides had grime and the jets were not working very well

I paid extra for a room that was advertised to include a "complementary" breakfast. But it turns out that "complementary" means "a $20 voucher that pays for about half of a family of four's breakfast." Needless to say, I was less than pleased. But when I went to the front desk, they told me to "take it up with hotels.com." It wasn't until I got a little […] bit, um, loud, that I was told by the manager that he would "take care of it." But our waitress (who was terrific) beat him to the punch. She told us that we were not the first people to be fooled into thinking he did not have to pay for a complementary breakfast. So she didn't charge us. I left her a nice tip. Les mer

This hotel was a bit overpriced for what it delivered. At first glance, it appeared to be a rather nice Holiday Inn, but there were flaws. The hot tub was not hot at all, and the breakfast was appalling. The television did not work properly, either. Furthermore, although we had booked a room that included a "full breakfast," they still tried to charge […] us, at least partially. The mistake was actually made by Hotels.com, and the Holiday Inn staff corrected it, but not after an argument with the waitress. Les mer

This was the worst run hotel I have stayed in many many years. We checked in on Wed. and this 8 floor hotel which was totally booked, only had 1 operational elevator. On the following Monday it was finally working, but after most everyone had already checked out. I asked for extra hangers, there were 6 in the room and am still waiting, the bedskirt […] was torn when we got there, and of course I tripped on it a few times getting out of bed, and when we checked out it was torn worse they kept tucking it in. One day they forgot to leave soap, one day cups and coffee, one day towels, and of course the trash was usually not emptied. But they took the tips. Went to check out the pool one day and was filled with very young children of dipper age, so much for enjoying the pool. I really would not recommend. Les mer

It was a short stay, just for one night. The room was clean although the air conditioner unit was fairly loud even though we put the fan on low. We would have had a better night's rest if it wasn't for that. Breakfast was included and there was a variety of items to choose from. We all enjoyed it including the kids.

Had a nice stay at the Holiday Inn in Muskegon. Restaurant had good food and good service. Nice Pool. The grandkids enjoyed the pool.

This was our second year that we stayed here. It is basically a good location and serves us well for the most part. My Mother has a walking disability and uses a walker and find the handicap assecibility difficult in this Holiday Inn as those rooms are way down a hallway and not close to the elevators. We eneded up with a regualar room, went out and […] bought a toilet seat to extend the height of the toilet and she just had sponge baths for the four nights we where there. Some thought needs to be given to the rooms that are being designated as "Handicap assesible" cause really they are not the most conveniedt. Other wise we had a great stay. Les mer

The air condition was not running in the hallways and the main floor. The days we stayed it was in the low 90's so it was very hot just waiting for an elevator.

The hotel staff and rooms were great. It was very clean. However, the air conditioning wasn't turned on in the lobby, hallways or bar. We were staying there for a wedding and grabbed a drink before the ceremony. It was extremely uncomfortable. Maybe they just had an issue that weekend. I'm sure it's not like that all of the time. Bed was comfortable. There was a buzzing sound with t.v. The wireless internet connection was not working. Kids were very disappointed.

I've stayed in some pretty average places, but this stood out a bit. The room was clean, and the beds/pillows were very comfortable compared to most places I've stayed. The pool was kind of small and packed with kids, but there is an "adults-only" hour. The view was nothing spectacular, but with all the sight-seeing withing 30 minutes, it wasn't a big […] deal. For the price we paid for this hotel, we expected everything to be right. We had to ask for lightbulbs and the clock was not set correctly. We had no WIFI for the first day and spent a great deal of time on the phone with tech support who could not correct it so we think the problem was onsite. The staff was no help what so ever and didn't even suggest […] we use the onsite computer room. Only 1 of 2 elevators were working consistently so we waited very often. While the hotel is located downtown Muskegon....there is nothing downtown. Could have been in the middle of a corn field. The hotel was dingy; dirty grout and carpeting in room. Musty smells. Noise level was unbelievablly disturbing. Security was called both nights we were there. They did show up the first night. They did not show the second night but […] the over the top guests at 2:30 a.m. responded to our threat to call the police and disappeared. I would not return. Les mer

The hallways could have been air conditioned better, the sixth floor was a bit warm. The room was good size and clean. The breakfast buffet was convenient and good, I would rate it an 8 out of 10.

The hotel is a little pricey for one night, but well worth every cent. We were also given a $20.00 off coupon for breakfast at the restaurant. Very nice. We paid for a jacuzzi room that was a very nice size, and the rooms were clean!
