Conveniently located along the fiord. Courteous, helpful staff from the front desk to the room maids. Dining facilities and bar service were excellent. The sidewalk cafe was very pleasant and relaxing An excellent choice; we look forward to our return

Wonderful location and a nice personal European hotel. My only complaint was that there was no A/C but apparently that is the case with all Stockholm hotels. I would strongly recommend this hotel over a big chain, more charming loction and ambience. Our room was small but comfortable with a small balcony and side view of the water, loved it!

Perfect location if you have a toddler - a beautiful 10 minute walk along the water to Junibacken and the Wasa museum. Diplomat staff could not have been more attentive if they tried. Amazing service. Fun brasserie donwstairs with beautiful locals and business, too, daytime. Lovely birdcage elevator from 100 yrs ago - updated to modern standards - with […] plasic key insert to access floors. The way this hotel has managed to intergrate modern conveniences is stunning and brilliant. Its a very old, beautiful building with high ceilings and crown moldings, etc. We loved every minute of it. The only (possible) downside is that they don't have A/C in the rooms. Heat they have - for obvious reasons. A/C they do not have - also for obvious reasons :) Can highly recommend this 4 1/2 star, "boutiqie" hotel. Les mer

The Diplomat is a charming hotel in a very nice part of Stockholm. It's just a few blocks from great high-end shopping and nice restaurants. The staff was helpful and overall, our stay was great. ok the good news first..great view and location right on water, friendly staff, free wifi, clean rooms, good restaurant...bad news.ROOMS NOT AIR CONDITIONED so in summer think twice,,rooms are very small, bed is smaller if you are over 6'1" good luck make sure you book double room

We enjoyed staying at the Diplomat. The only negative thing(s) we have to comment on is the front staff and the very hight price we payed for a room without breakfast and a terrible view. On the website it said we would have a view of the water - but instead we faced a wall. We celebrated our anniversary and I wanted it to be special as my husband loves […] the water and boats. When we mentioned this to the reception they did not make an effort and did not seem to bother. As a matter of fact the front desk/reception staff is the worst staff in a hotel we have ever encountered. It is very sad that the hotel does not choose its front staff more carefully as it is the "face" of the hotel. On a lighter note - the breakfast (which we paid 195skr = $30 pp) was fantastic!!!! Dennis one of the breakfast hosts was the friendliest and most professional person in the whole hotel and really went out of his way to make us feel welcomed. Even though the bed and the hotel was very comfortable and at a fantastic location - we would probably try to find another hotel next time we visit Stockholm. Les mer

My husband and I have now stayed twice at the Diplomat. We will be making regular trips to Stockholm due to our son's relocating there. The only drawback here (and this happened both times) is that we booked a Double Diplomat room and were given a very small room that looked out on the space between buildings where the equipment is stored. Fortunately, […] a trip to the front desk was all that was necessary to fix this. I don't know if there's a secret handshake needed to get the room we request without the extra step. We'll have to think long and hard about accommodations next time. If it happened a third time I'd be kicking myself all the way back to New York. Les mer

The hotels location is tryuly fantastic, right in the heart of beautiful Stockholm. 5-10 mins walk to most places, other than the airport. Staff were great, very helpful. The only negative I have about this hotel was that our room was very small. I've been traveling around Europe for the last month and this room was the smallest by far. Oh, and the […] lift is a little useless, but it's old world charm nearly makes up for it. Les mer

Wonderful hotel, great location! Friendly staff, good food at the restaurant and very friendly servers. Single bed might be a bit small for a big guy.

We stayed five nights and were extremely happy. Hotel has a great location close to everything as well we had a huge room with waterview. Very, very clean and the best pillows of our 21 day holiday Will definitely stay here again - highly reccommend.

An excellent location for sight-seeing in Stockholm. Close to the Gamla Stan (Old Town) and shopping district. The staff were very friendly and helpful-it was worth the extra charge for a view of the bay. We enjoyed our stay at the Diplomat very much and would stay there again.

We stayed in a room with water view and, although it was the smallest in its category, was quite comfortable and had a lot of old world charm. Very convenient and accessible location. Staff strive to please. Wonderful breakfast. Will be happy to stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at the Hotel Diplomat for 4 days in January 2011. Positives: clean, comfortable room; hotel interior was lush and spacious; prompt professional service; reliable fast free internet; very nice bathroom / shower Negatives: "gym" accommodated 1 person and reservations were required; super-expensive room service; no central heat (heat was provided […] through a portable space heater that I could not figure out). Room was far too small for two people to be in, no room for luggage, coats, boots and so on, no where in the room to sit as you had to have your luggage or clothes on the space available. No tea or coffee facilitis so you could not wake up in the mornings with a nice cup of tea.

The Hotel was lovely, clean and convenient and staff was very helpful. We will stay there again if we visit Stockholm.

The Hotel Diplomat has a great location. In the middle of everything with great shopping and water travel nearby. The hotel has a private sauna retreat suite that was a fantastic extra! At no charge! I used it every day- with a private jacuzzi, sauna and exercise equipment! The single room was big enough and had a great view of the harbor and the Baltic […] Sea. The Diplomat Hotel in Stockholm was conveniently located to all we planned to see. It is a lovely restored older hotel with small, but clean, rooms. The restaurant was great for breakfast and several dinners, the food was delicious. We were comfortable there and would definitely go back and recommend it to others. We loved this hotel, the staff were friendly and the food was to die for and the fact that you could sit outside and enjoy your drinks was a bonus and if it got a little cold the staff would supply you with blankets Steps from the boat rides and walking distance to the Old Town

This is GREAT hotel! The staff are very nice and extremely helpful. Although my single room was a bit small, it was well organized and very comfortable. The location is very central to the museums, boat tours and a 10-15min walk to Old Town. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

This is a nearly perfect hotel. It is situated right on the edge of the sea and within 10 mins walk of the centre of Stockholm. The hotel is very elegant and has a family atmosphere. It is extremely welcoming and comfortable. This was my fourth stay there and it won't be the last.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Diplomat. It is set in a great location and easily found. The view from our room was beautiful. Our room was very clean. The only downside was that when you used the shower it flooded the bathroom a little bit. Other than that, great hotel!

We spent 2 nights in this gorgeous hotel. Although we had only booked a standard room, we were upgraded at no cost to a harbor view room because it was available. The view outside the two french doors was right off a postcard. We were so pleased with the room, and so enamored of Stockholm, that we rearranged our travel plans to stay an extra 2 nights. […] Unfortunately, the Diplomat was completely booked and we ended up moving to another hotel across the harbor. Lovely hotel in one of the best location in the beautiful city of Stockholm. We'd love to come back!

Hotel was beautiful. Situated perfectly in the heart of Stockholm in a beautiful neighbourhood close to parks and across the street from the Harbour. Several museums, including the National Museum and Vasa Museum are both within walking distance. My room was a good size by European standards, with an incredible view. Housekeeping did a fantastic job. […] There is a free "Retreat" for hotel guests and I highly recommend reserving it for a few hours during your stay. There is a sauna, whirlpool and luxury shower. Great way to unwind after a hectic day in the city. The staff were pleasant, but not super friendly. I found this to be the norm in Stockholm. Les mer

Hotel Diplomat is conveniently located about 10-15 minutes walk to Vasa Museum, Royal Palace, etc. The hotel itself is a beautiful building. The room is very comfortable and spacious.

Hotel Diplomat is in a great location. We got a good rate through Hotels.com, so we were able to afford it! We got a "Diplomat Double" which was a decent sized room on the interior of the hotel. It would have been to have had a room with a view of the water, but that was much pricier. The room was clean, the bathroom was modern and the staff was excellent. […] Our only complaint was that the room was a bit warm--as the thermostat didn't seem to work. We switched rooms, but had the same problem in the second room. We ended up sleeping with the windows open. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel to others. A very nice hotel in a good, central location, under 10 minutes walk from Gamla Stan, and directly opposite the quay from which there are several options for boat tours around the islands. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had a room at the back of the hotel without a view, but pleasant nevertheless. There are some nice little touches like […] an umbrella in the room that guests can use. We didn't eat in the hotel, as it's on the pricey side (but not unduly so for Stockholm), but did have a drink in the cocktail bar where prices are not unreasonable (for Stockholm). The service was attentive and friendly. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Les mer

I didn't like this hotel, the rooms were too small, bathrooms were ugly, there was no air conditioning, it was too hot for august.

Ideal location, clean and friendly.

Our room was large and well appointed, the beds and bedding very comfortable. You can't beat the location right on Stockholm's inner harbor, with easy access to public transportation and plenty of sightseeing opportunities within walking distance.

The hotel is in a great location (walking distance to many great Stockholm sites) and the hotel staff and breakfast buffet are nice. That's about it. If you go to the hotel website you will get a false impression. It is a luxury website, not a luxury hotel. My room was spartan, the curtains didn't cover the windows, no robes, limited amenities, etc. […] In short, nothing to get excited about. Les mer

We totally loved this hotel. Super clean, friendly and in the middle of the tourist city. Large room (compared to most european hotels). The restaurant and bar -- delicious. Stay here for a nice time in Stockholm.

The location could not be better for access to EVERYTHING, including the water taxis, water tours, etc. The major museums are close to hand, Gamla Stan is within walking and/or water taxi distance, although this lovely hotel makes it hard to leave. You will like the charming original elevator from the 1920s, the quiet courtyard, the lovely small balconies […] with chairs, and the great breakfasts. No one could ask for a more thoughtful and helpful staff, either, and the private lounge area on the mezzanine is a place of beauty and quiet, too - with wireless internet access besides! Do try the Cocktail Lounge on the 2nd floor - it can't be beat! This is a "can't miss" hotel - and if you can't stay here, consider the Hotel Esplanade directly across the courtyard. Les mer

I booked this hotel after it was recommended to me by a colleague. I generally like my hotels very modern, and this hotel combines art nouveau features with modern cons. Every thing one could wish for for the perfect stay, good food, luxury accommodation and perfect location.

Day I arrived elivator did not work, and the day I left it did not work again. Room was small and my view was of the inside court and work area of the hotel. The worst thing there is no airconditioning of the rooms so it was very hot. I Slept with the windows open so being off the main street wasn't such a bad thing.
