"unaccommodating"
This hotel would have not been so bad for the hotel.com price if it wasn't for the unaccommodating staff and owner. They did remodel some of the rooms, but be careful and make sure you get the better room. And insist the maid service come to your room.
"Another Great stay!"
The room had only a faint odor of smoke which quickly dissipated after a few minutes of airing out. Some knucklehead almost ruined it for me. Everything was clean and tidy. The continental breakfast was simple, but it did the job. The owner was nice and accommidating and the rates were fair. We stayed for two nights.

"Cheap - but you get what you pay for!"
If you want a chep hotel but don't care about the outdated look and feel, this one is for you. I was in a downstairs room. Above me, someone was running laps around the room! The outdoor doors are loud and people like to sit on the sidewalk to smoke and talk. It wasn't terrible, but I konw better to go for the best price!

Really enjoyed this location. Sits back off the busy main road a bit, very peaceful and pretty surroundings. Very clean, very nice staff.

"Toadlick Weekend"
Stayed here for the festival and it was convenient to all restaurants, the fairgrounds, Wal Mart, drug stores, Lowe's, The Barn, and mini strip malls.

This hotel is reasonably priced and is close to restaurants, WalMart, gas stations and it's 10 minutes from the mall. They have a nice continental breakfast and hot coffee 24 hours a day. "GOOD FOR THE PRICE."
THE HOTEL WAS FINE FOR THE PRICE, POOL AREA WAS MESSY FROM OTHER GUESTS & BATHROOM COULD HAVE BEEN CLEANER BUT ALL IN ALL WORTH THE MONEY.

room was nice and clean, but was told if wanted to stay another night would be same price but when I stayed extra night price of motel room increased by $40.92 a night which I felt was overcharged for my room, would have considered staying there again if they hadn't increased price of room, will probably not stay here again because of that
WE STAYED AT THE HOTEL FOR 3 NIGHT,S. THE DOOR LOCK HAD TO BE REPAIRED. THE WINDOW WAS BROKEN AND TAPED TOGETHER. THE BLANKET ON THE BED HAD HOLES IN IT AND IT SMELLED BAD. THE BREAKFAST WAS NOT UP TO PAR AND NOT WELL KEPT AS IT RAN OUT OF THINGS AND YOU HAD TO GO TELL THE DESK TO GET SOME MORE.

This place was the perfect hotel to stay at for a couple nights, and I have no real complaints other than I could not figure out how to change the input setting on the TV to use my XBOX. :-(

Good overnight stop after a 12 hour drive. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Good Mexican restaurant next door. Adequate breakfast in the morn. Will probably book again sometime.

As I stated before, the first room they tried to put us in had a really old bed that saggy and squeaking. Room smelled bad. Old fridge & microwave. Stains in tub. Lady at front desk did not want to help. She even hung up on Hotels.com person! We came back later that day (after checking out other hotels) and another lady helped us out and moved us to […] a much better room. The rear buildings seem to be for contractors and live-ins while the center building seems to be the one for familys. There are some suites available, but I have never asked for rates. Les mer
"Great hotel for the price"
The Howard Johnson Express Inn-Dothan Alabama had the perfect location! Near shops and restaurants. My ONLY complaint was that I asked for a non-smoking room and it smelled as if someone smoked in the bed. I had to spray room freshener but it was overpowering! Hotel advertises pets welcome. What it means is dogs only. No cats, birds, fish, or whatever other pets you might own and travel with other than dogs. Hotel allows you to check in and then lock you out after first night if you have the wrong species of pet. Room looked like it was a doggie chew toy with torn bedding, and toilet seat had chew marks.

Overall, the stay was very disappointing. The shower curtain had black mold. The toilet was not firmly attached to the floor. The free wifi capability was insufficient to reach the assigned room. Vehicles parked toward the rear of the motel resembled an auto junk year.

Great beds, cold a/c, clean rooms, this place is spotless! We have stayed at other places around town when we go there to visit my parents and this has been by far the best. Not always the cheapest though. You can get cheaper but this would come at a price. Other hotel rooms stink of smoke and other nasty things. This particular Howard Johnson is awesome.
