Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino - Freeport (og omegn), Grand Bahama, Bahamas

Cable beach is beautiful and this hotel was a great alternative to high prices at Paradise Island! It is perfect that they have a fantastic beach, great pools, and have a variety of eating choices (starbucks style cafe w/sandwiches, outdoor lunch & early dinner burger place, and two indoor restaurants. The only problem I had was some of the staff were […] not very helpful. The would answer any questions but not provide alternatives or suggestions if you didn't know what you were doing. Not knowing there is a public bus stop literally at the bottom of the hotel driveway, we asked about taxis to get into town (a $20+ ride each way) yet no one mention the public bus which is very comfortable and easy for $1.25/person. Note it does stop running at 7:00pm so if you are going to dinner plan on taking a taxi home. The bus stops at the Fish Fry (an area of local restaurants w/better prices and good food) which across the street is the gardens/zoo (with the marching flamingos) and downtown near the straw market. The other thing that no one seems to point out is that they add 15% gratuity to EVERYTHING! no need to tip because they have already done it for you!! Les mer

Satisfied with hotel services and cleanliness but disappointed with food. All 3 restaurants food is not worth the price. Definitely needs improvement in this area.

The service is awful, the staff (even the manager) is unresponsive. I had the worst food and the worst wine in its Italian restaurant. I had to wait in the line to enter the breakfast area, waited 10 more minutes to be seated by frowny-faced staff. Apart from that, the beachside is nice. I can hardly call this hotel a Sheraton hotel.

The hotel is nice, comfy and all services were perfect. The rate obtain was much higher than what the hotel was offering directly at the time... :( only concern.

Average hotel, slow service, outdated amenities. Should only be a 3 star. Pools and beach well kept. (All that mattered to our children.) Food expensive and bland. Go out to eat. Try the Fish Fry (area with several restaurants)

all was well; however hotel security needs to be tight. Too many locals at the bar or casino that can easily get on elevator and into the guest rooms. They should have a security guard checking to make sure that they are actually staying at hotel. I was at the bar when i left to go back to my room a local guy followed me to the elevator, i turned around […] and went back to the bar and asked one of the bartenders to escorted me to the elevator. Since no harm was done i didnt call security. I was there alone for business. Other than that i had a nice and pleasant stay. Les mer

The stay was good, but the "Do not disturb" sign kept falling off. a bit anoying.

Very nice beach and pool area, but this hotel charges for many extras that we take for granted in the U.S., like refrigerators and wi-fi internet. It is isolated from surrounding restaurants, and therefore the hotel restaurants are prohibitively expensive. Taxis were likewise expensive compared to major city U. S. rates. Maid service was horrible. But […] the hotel is clean and well maintained. If you want fun in the sun, it is a good -- but expensive -- location. Les mer

Food choices / price was not very good. Hotel staff was not helpful in identifying nearby food locations to the hotel. Talking to the cab driver found around 10 (rest and stores) up the street opposite Sandles Resort. Beautiful Beach, Excellent Hotel, food very pricy.

My husband and I scheduled this as just a quick get-away from the grind. Location of this hotel is nice, close to airport, and the beach seems to be one of the better on the island. The room looks to have been updated, nice clean decor, pretty up-to-date. The service and all of the staff were lovely as well. Very helpful! Robert, Rashad, and Perre were […] great bartenders! (As it's football season, we spent quite a bit of time there in the evening) I think one thing to keep in mind for the Bahamas is it's a bit old. Outside of the Atlantis complex, the hotels will not be brand spanking new. I've been in Cabo San Lucas and Hawaii several times in the last few years, and the hotels were much better maintained. The Sheraton definitely needs some repair, broken tiles in a few pools, carpeting in some areas worn down, walkways need to be patched, but I think this is consistent across most of the hotels in the Bahamas. (they've been around alot longer than Cabo resorts) A few helpful hints- if you head towards the Casino there is a liquor shop. An average mixed drink by the pool was about $10, so if you're there and plan on drinking, head to the liquor store so save some $$. The casino was pretty dead during the week. We were there Mon-Thurs., it was a bit depressing. The hotel food, was not so great. The breakfast full buffet was included in our rate and was pretty good, but I do NOT recommend lunch or dinner there. We took a $15 taxi to the Fish Fry, an area with about 15 local restaurants. Food was excellent and much better prices. Oh Andros was very good! We did the Island Wonder tour, it was the highlight of the trip. Definitely worth $200. Don't expect much for the food, but the snorkeling/boat/beach were great! All in all a nice place, but definitely get out on a day trip, the keys are BEAUTIFUL! Les mer

Three times no towel in rooms.

Needs a facelift in halls, rooms and resataurant, needs refrig or microwaves in the suite rooms! Ocen views are magnificent!!!! Service staf was very attentive to make up for the lacking ambience. Overpriced food

Great hotel, but not as good as it was 4, 3 or 2 years ago.

Although a bit dated, this resort hotel was clean, comfortable and situated right on Cable Beach, on the north side of the island, about half way between the airport and downtown. And the price was ok during my stay in October. There are plenty of pools to relax in and other activities. I give it a 4 out of 5 becaused if feels old inside.

Good value vs $

I selected the Hotel for the price and because it looks really nice on pics. When I get there it looks much much better than in the pictures. The beach is great and has a lot of beds available for the gusts and the kajacs and other equipment is included in your stay. The pool area is really nice as well. They have computers at the lobby with wifi that […] you can use for free and you can print any document for free as well. Internet at the room is free as well. The hotel is connectet to the Whyndham where you will find a nice Casino and live Music on Fridays. The staff is very friendly and they have a concierge that is eager to help you. You can get excursions as well with a kiosk located at the lobby. The hotel has a well a very nice gym open 24hours every day. My only complaint was that althought thebreakfast has a nice variety food is not very fresh and is kind of expensive. The only place at the hotel with really nice food is the Italian Restaurant Amicci. Please try it. The overall experience was really nice I will stay again if I have the opportunity. Les mer

really nice hotel. Very clean. We were on honeymoon and got a free upgrade. Bed was huge and cindy the receptionist put us 60 seconds from the beach. Staff were very nice. We ate twice in the black angus resteraunt which is part of the wyndham hotel and is attached to the sheraton. They have really good steak. We also had breakfast twice in the buffet […] at the wyndham which has a huge offering. Sheraton has then a beach bar which we ate at one kunch ans was good too. Its a bus ride into nassau which is one dollar fifty. There is straw markets and the usual expensive shops to goto. Gucci etc. The people in bahamas are very friendly, the most friendly foreigners we have ever met we would almost certainly say. We went on a boat trip which tend to be suited to snorkling which we dont do but they did stop at a deserted island for an hour and a half which was amazing. The sheraton beach is amazing, blue water and white sandy beaches. We visited atlantis, full of noisy kids, good buzz but glad we didnt stay there. Tip for the aquarium would be to visit it after six pm and you can wander around without having to pay. All in all the sheraton was Ten out of ten in our minds. Go now! Les mer

very nice beach - nice hotel where everything is close and easy to organise excursions. We enjoy our stay there (maybe because it was out season) regret that building works are to come to compete with the Altantis that looks like a plant...

A nice change from excessive overly expensive stay at Atlantis. Hotel a bit boring to look at but interior amenities very nice. Wyndam exterior grounds nicer next door but would never stay at Wyndam again....period

I thought the hotel was very nice - clean - friendly staff. I was only there for a night, but the casino, the shops all looked great, and I wished that I could stay a bit longer. Two complaints: Our tub did not drain. Within two minutes of a shower the water was up above our ankles.....a bottle of drano perhaps Food - we arrived on a late evening flight […] and our only option was room service which was ending within 45 minutes of us figuring it out. Of the two restaurants, one had closed, the other was closing at 10, and room service ended at 11. When there is no food served on your flight, you need options. Les mer

I found it very nice of a place to stay. You really don't need to go anywhere outside of this hotel. There's lot's to see and do right here without having to jump in a car. Excellent view and never ending pools and beach. I'll be Baak!

Hotel was great. Clean, modern rooms. Multiple pools so no one pool was crowded. Great beach and beach activities. Staff was friendly and helpful. Multiple dining options at hotel. Overall great vacation thanks to Sheraton.

I stayed for a few nights and the experience was awesome. Clean, comfortable, well located and lots of activities in the hotel. Getting to downtown is a breeze - there are buses (pretty comfortable ones) right outside the hotel that charge u just 1.25$!!! Definitely a great place to go with family or as a single traveler. Ps: the hot tub is awesome. […] The only drawback is how the elevators are located. U have to walk for 5 mins to get to ur room if u are unfortunate enough to get a room on the other end of the corridor. So ask for a room near the elevator. Les mer

My stay at this hotel was great. Even though some of there lawn chairs on our patio were destroyed, and the service was reeeaaaalllyyyy slow I had a great experience. We got there and had to wait over 4 hours for our room to finish being cleaned. But the good thing was that they gave us free drinks in the bar while we waited and they upgraded our room […] to a pool-side view. When we walked out of our back patio, we could see the beach too, from about 10 feet away. The prices were really expensive within the hotel, but we just drove a little ways down the road and ate. There is a grocery store and Star-bucks up the street too. The downtown shopping district is about 15-20 minute drive, depending on traffic. I would definitely stay at this hotel again... Les mer

This hotel is located in Cable beach which is one of nicest beaches of Nassau. The pool and beach areas are comfortable with good bar and food service. Even though , the hotel need some renovating in the carpeting of the hallways, its a property that you get good value for your dollar. I recommend to rent a car in order to go to Paradise island and […] be able to go out to restaurants and buy groceries. The breakfast buffet was good but the inside area was smelly. Internet service is free of charge at the lobby area wi-fi and there's 4 computers available to use. Overalll a good experience for the price. Les mer

Nice hotel and most of the staff were very professional, but we got charged the wrong price on a drink at the bar. When we noticed it, the staff got mad at us. A few people got sick at the pool side restaurant. Several people were queasy after eating the conference food inside the hotel. If you have hotel dollars don't check out till after lunch.

We had a fantastic time at the Sheraton. We went for our honeymoon and when they found out upgraded us to an ocean view room. Reception was lovely and the hotel amenities were great. The Italian restaurant was fantastic downstairs. Cable beach is fantastic, we went to paradise island where Atlantis is and it was way too packed and busy. Cable beach […] is lovely and relaxing. Atlantis is great to visit but so good to go home to a chilled out resort!! The pool entertainment was great during the day, awesome Dj and fun games. We even got to do water aerobics every couple of days which was so much fun!! I have nothing bad to say about the Sheraton we absolutely loved our stay!! Les mer

This hotel was a mystery- there is no reason it shouldn't have been a good experience and yet I cut my stay short in half because it was so disappointing. The food was almost insulting- I am ok with paying $24 for a grilled cheese but not when it shows up looking like a car accident. Whoever is in charge of Food and Beverage at this Hotel clearly doesn't […] care anymore. Pay more and stay at Atlantis or pay less and stay somewhere slightly off the beaten path but avoid this hotel as a below average money sink. Les mer

Excellent service,great room, clean beach & pool. Limited menu due to Valentines day at Amici was unexpected so we went to "market" restaurant right next to it for the buffet. Great presentation but the food quality has room for improvement.

The hotel grounds are very nice but the rooms are very very bad

We loved the hotel. The setting, right on the beach, was outstanding. We were a little disapointed that neither spa was working correctly at the time--one did not have the jets working and the other could not be heated. Still, over all, a great location and we had a very good time.

This hotel should be a four star resort, however, the condition of the property should downgrade it to a three star. It was disappointing that neither one of the two hot tubs were working. The beach area where you lounge was covered with litter, cigarette butts, food wrappers, etc. Unlike most four star hotels which rake the beach, this beach area was […] nasty. The pool lights were not lit at night so that you did not have the romantic ambiance which is advertised. The staff was extremely rude. Everyone from the front desk to the bartender acted as though you were interupting them. The hotel also imposed an automatic 15 percent gratuity which no doubt added to the service staffs indifference. Les mer

The hotel overall was very nice, very comfortable. Was very disappointed the room did not have refrigerator, since the Nassau Beach Hotel which was only a 3 star did. Also the drink prices were totally outrageous. It is extremely cheaper to buy stuff and keep in the room. Even bottled water was too expensive. The food was completely over priced and […] average in taste. Just go downtown and get food to bring back, or go to the local marked only a 8 min. bus ride away and get things. Service at the beach bar was very slow and the quality of drinks poor, but this wasn't my first trip to the Bahamas so I wasn't surprised. All in all, I will definitely go again just will have to find another hotel since Nassau Beach has been closed down. Les mer

The hotel was what we expected. Very nice people in the bahamas.

Even though we were only there for 1 night we were very impressed with the service and the attention we were given. The room was extremely nice, clean, and surprisingly large. The staff was more than eager to help us in any way needed. The location is perfect, close to the airport, shopping, and restaurants. We are planning a return trip to the Bahamas […] just to stay here and really enjoy more of what the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort has to offer!! Two Thumbs Way Up! Thank you Sheraton Les mer

Great stay. Less crowded than Atlantis and better beach. excellent views from room. did not eat at hotel, but a quick ride to downtown, Arawak, etc. Love the pool bar and July 4th weekend activities.

Great stay - friendly, efficient, clean. Physically it's a large property for the Cable Beach area but it was very manageable getting to and from the various restaurants, snack areas, towel shack, pools, beach, etc. By far the best beach on the Cable Beach strip - it was deep even at high tide and quite lengthy. There are several pools on the property […] that provide different experiences (size, shape, depth) for the entire family. Both the grounds and the rooms were in excellent condition - clearly the staff takes pride in the appearance. Speaking of the staff, they were very friendly, outgoing and enjoyed chatting with the guests. While the various on-site restraurants and eating establishments are quite good, take a night and head to the Fish Market or simply take a right out of the Sheraton on Bay Street and head West where you will find several localrestaurants that are very nice (and a Starbucks for those who really need it!). Overall the Sheraton is a very nice property and we would stay there again with question. Les mer

The hotel itself is lovely in every way. Large open spaces, beautiful grounds, very nice rooms, fabulous pool. However the staff, although friendly, is very poorly trained. If they want to be a first class hotel they will need to be better than this. Great to hire locals, but then train them to give service that people expect at a four star hotel. Also, […] the food was average or way below average -- not worth the very high prices. We would have been happy to pay those prices for better food, but we ended up going elsewhere for our meals. The poolside outdoor restaurant was borderline disgusting. Les mer

Place is fantastic. You have access to the Wyndham Hotel, and casino all connected to each other. Be wary of the people selling timeshares, they are littered everywhere.
