Lafayette Hotel - New Orleans

Stort sett bra. Hyggelig personal og stort rom. Ulempe at det ikke ble servert frokost på hotellet, men mest minus gis for gjenspikrede vinduer og ingen balkong = innestengt luft på rommet. Ok beliggendhet i forhold til det meste. Noe trafikkstøy. TIPS: Bestill rom langt over bakkenivå.

Two adults, two kids. We spent two nights followed by a trip north and then back for a night. The front desk staff went over the top to take care of us. They remembered us when we came back through and continued to take really good care. Our balcony ended up looking over a live music and food festival...perfect. We liked the location right on the street […] car line. Will only stay here in NOLA from now on. Thanks Dwayne. Les mer

was disapointed with the amount of mildew on the ceiling of my room. The hallway also had a very strong musty smell.

Great location; this gem of a boutique hotel needs polishing. The room was very dim, and musty. We had to request an extra standing lamp. The drapes were falling down and in need of repair; there was no shades on the windows. It was a good size room that needed redecorating. The bathroom was large and the shower was fantastic; great pressure and hot […] water; they didn't get around to installing those water savers that turn the shower into a trickle. Again, the bathroom was very dark, not enough lighting. The hair drying should have been bolted to the wall instead of being kept on a shelf. The staff was very helpfull and attentive. There were no bathrobes as stated in the web site. This property could and should be restored/updated. It was still with all the imperfections a good 4 day stay. Les mer

No concessions available - not even drink machine. no door to safe in room.

I was really upset to find at check in time there was a 50 pet fee that hotels.com did not tell me about. I asked before booking and booked because they were pet friendly. There were no drink machines and the restraunt was not open. Closest place to get a drink or coffee was 3 blocks. The traffic kept me a wake through the night.

I got excellent care and attention at the Lafayette. They greeted me each day and gave cogent advice about tours, restaurants, and sights in New Orleans. The room was nice and large - bigger than I expected and the view of the trees was pretty. It was a short walk to my conference and to the French Quarter, and I really enjoyed the free concert on Lafayette […] Square (next door to the hotel) Wednesday night. Les mer

Dwayne was very helpful and informative. Helped me locate the cab I lost my wallet in. overall the hotel was very clean and the room was spacious. Only concern was the streetcar was very noisy outside of our room. But you cant beat the location.. Walking distance to everything

The hotel was charming; staff very helpful- the sofa mattress was uncomfortable but overall I would recommend this hotel. The restaurant attached to the hotel (can't remember the name) - very snooty and you MUST have reservations. Don't wear cammo or shorts - they won't even talk to you. The hotel is very conveniently located, and you can walk anywhere in a matter of minutes. The hotel itself is well-run and our room was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

For the price, this hotel exceeding my expectations. The suite was kept clean and had plenty of space. The furniture and electronics were a bit dated, but nothing to be concerned about. For the most part the staff was friendly and willing to help, with the exception of one lady who worked the front desk. For an older hotel, it was clean. The service was decent, though the staff did not give any notice while the "boil water" was in effect. That meant no coffee in the room, but even then, it didn't seem that I'd be missing out on much, except convenience. It was sometimes a chore to get a cab. No one went above and beyond to help. Also, the level of effort […] and accuracy of the nearby fitness center was poor, to the point that after wandering around for 20 minutes and several streets, I finally gave up on the notion, which was disappointing. The mattress was not comfortable and the cold water handle in the shower was slightly broken. The restaurant attached was closed when I arrived on Sunday. With plans to grab lunch, that was inconvenient. This hotel was a desperate choice when nothing else was available nearby and under $400/night, so it served its purpose, but I would not choose it again. Les mer

Room was very clean. Vintage furniture. Windows had great view of St. Charles street and is very close to Lafayette Park. Several very nice restaurants within easy walking distance. New Orleans Conference Center was close enough to walk. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is ideally situated on a streetcar line and for $3 per day you can travel on any streetcar or bus. Great value. The staff were very helpful as were most of the people in the city itself. I arrived with a car and paid $28 per day for the valet parking which seemed expensive but really when compared to the self park rates locally it wasn't.

I would stay here again and again. The location was excellent. I loved the artsy feel of the neighborhood, the proximity to Rouses market, WW2 museum,the street cars, the garden district, the French quarter, etc. the room was maintained beautifully, the bed was so comfortable and the shower was amazing. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. […] Our room had high ceilings and 3 windows overlooking Lafayette park and Charles St. On rainy days, no need to go out...an amazing restaurant downstairs. We stayed at the Lafayette Hotel during a recent conference in New Orleans. Since most of the conference hotels are basically only close to the Morial Convention Center, we wanted a location that was a bit more in the middle of sights. We lucked out! This hotel was in a nice quiet area (only noise was the streetcar going down the street every half hour, […] but it was an almost pleasant sound!), and equidistant from the French Quarter and the Convention Center. It was close to excellent food and was easy to travel back from drinking in the quarter. Plus the bed was HUGE and one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Will definitely recommend! Nice quiet hotel in a great location. We did not rent a car and could walk or take a bus or trolley to everything we wanted to see. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The room did not have a mini fridge, which would have been nice, since there were no drink machines. But all in all, it has a nice charm to it and was a comfortable place […] to stay. The room was very large, so it was a good value for the price. However, it was outdated, and a little further from the FQ than I had originally hoped.

The hotel staff was wonderful. It is within walking distance to everything. I loved the fact it was in a safe and very well lit area. Also, the street car runs right in front of the hotel. We will definately stay here again.

Made it in town extremely early and the young lady at the front desk was very nice. she checked us in early because they had an early checkout. the day crew was great. however, woke up around 2 in the morning choking and called to the front desk to ask was there a drink machine in the hoel got no. then I asked well is rouse open, got no. Then I said […] is there anything close in the area, got : no, all I can tell u is that the water is good enough to drink. Now this may not seem like a problem , but I decided to checkout and go home, on my way home, about 3 blocks, was a gas station. now that was rediculous becuase we actually had planned to book another night, but whenhe was so rude and nasty, we just left and came home. he need a lesson in politeness. Nice property, great staff. Convenient for walking for food or sight seeing. Parking costs are a negative - have to use the public lots near the hotel.

The suite we stayed in was very nice. Plenty of room, comfortable for three people to socialize. We didn't use the fold out couch, because we had a separate King room. Also nice. The staff was friendly, and housekeeping was thorough. It was a perfect location for me, but the restaurant wasn't open during my stay. It was supposed to reopen after remodeling […] the following week. It's an older building, but very charming. The beds could have been a little more comfortable, but overall, I would definitely stay again. Once the restaurant is open. :) Les mer

We arrived around 4pm and the woman who was in charge of valet parking was very friendly and helpful. The woman at check in was delightful--very friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable, despite being older. The fridge didn't work, and the TV was small, but we were only staying one night, so that was OK. The light bulb in the ceiling fixture […] above the tub was missing, but there was enough light from the other fixture that it didn't matter. The bed and bedding were very nice, and we slept very well. The room was quiet. We learned the hotel is dog-friendly, with a dog park next door, so next time we will bring our dog. The breakdown occurred the next morning when we checked out. The guy in charge of valet was rude and lazy. He was leaning against the check-in desk when we arrived, talking to the woman working behind the counter. My husband held up his valet ticket, and the guy stood there, waiting for my husband to walk across the room and give it to him. The woman who checked us out was just as rude. I asked her a question about the internet access charge (we were unable to connect) and she ignored me and printed out the bill. She never made eye contact, asked about our stay, or told us to have a nice day. It's as if she couldn't be bothered. It was such a let-down after our initial good experience. We'll be back, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that the staff has been trained in basic customer service skills. Les mer

Hotel Lafayette was well located between the points I went to New Orleans for: The World War II Museum and the French Quarter. All went extremely well and I would stay at this place again. Would point out that the TV in the room may have been a hold over from the times of Robert E. Lee - a newer model would be in order.

Threadbare carpet, poor shower pressure, dirty overall BUT very sweet and kind staff, lived the decorating ambiance. I would not pay what I laid again to stay there.
