"You get what you pay for."
The place needs lots of repairs. The fan in the bathroom was noicy, Toilet paper seemed to be rationed, and there were too many bums on the streets. The tub and shower were good, and there was a microwave, fridge and beds were great.

Stayed here for a night on my way to SF. A fairly decent place; hotel is in good shape, the rooms were pretty clean, but I did not like the noisy heat fan in the room. It's a small town so the hotel is pretty centrally located. However, there's really not much around in terms of convenient stores and restaurants. I would probably stay here again if […] needed. "From someone picky"
I typically only stay in 4 or 5 star hotels. However, there are none in the area. I chose this hotel based off of location, pictures and prior customer ratings. The young man was very professional and nice to deal with at check in. The room was very large with an in-room jacuzzi. "Comfortable and Quiet"
This hotel was quiet comfortable and very quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the carpet on the stairs needs repairing and the faucet in the sink was loose. When we pulled out the desk chair there was a wrapper from a straw from a previous occupant which made us wonder how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. "GetAway"
Had a last minute get away. Found it with a fair price. Friendly sercvice from check in to checkout. It was in the heart of Eureka. Everything in walking distance. Located on the main Highway.
"Good bed, but some lack of details."
I had to travel to Eureka for business and chose the Scottfeild as a last minute decision without much research. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was pretty comfy and also convenient, right off main road (hwy101) The bed was very comfortable. However, the blanket/comforter left a little to be desired. Another blanket would have […] been nice. There was a coffee maker with a nice assortment of teas/coffees. However, there were no cups in the room. Hotel is downtown. My discount room had street noise from 101. Hotel room neat, clean and comfortable. I would stay again.

"Had fun!"
My friend and I met in Eureka for a girl's weekend. We stayed here and it is in a very convenient location, one block from Starbucks and right in downtown. Parking is funky but worked because there wasn't a lot of people there, just us. Very cozy rooms, and very comfy beds!! I would recommend trying this place out!!

I can't imagine what type of executive would select this poorly maintained, rather shabby lodging establishment. The best thing going for it is the location and friendly staff. Incidentally, it is not a hotel, but a rather shabby motel that needs to total upgrade.

"Demise of a good hotel"
I was raised in Eureka and this hotel went through several owners and names before becoming Scottfeild after last being Ramada Express. I have stayed here twice before a few years ago and, unfortunately, there has been considerable deterioration over the past few years. We were treated fairly well by the staff, but the facility and our room left a […] lot to be desired. First, we were on a non-smoking floor, but there was smoke in the lobby when we stepped off the very old and smelly elevator. It was not tobacco smoke, either, but marijuana. the hotel staff and security were already aware of this but did not evict the tenant who was smoking the weed. Most of the furniture was dusty, the carpets are old and poorly cleaned, and the room was dark and very outdated. Despite the fact that I had reserved the room for four people, there were only two sets of towels in the room and I had to go to the front desk to get more. The check-in desk and lobby is across the parking lot from the elevator and there is only one fairly narrow door into the small elevator lobby. The door requires your room card to get through, so it means you have to put down your luggage to unlock the door just to get into the elevator lobby. The neighborhood has always been seedy but has gotten worse in the 10 years since I left Eureka. I was accosted twice by homeless men hanging out in the bus shelter in front of the hotel and had another actually walk up to me in the parking area while I was unloading my car. The staff was very friendly and generally responsive and the beds were clean and comfortable, but these positives don't make up for all the negatives, especially for the price. Too bad for a once nice hotel. I recommend you go further up the street and look elsewhere for a place to stay in Eureka. Les mer

"Terrible"
I thought it would be a somewhat better than it was. The room was not very well maintained. The curtains were off the rail, the thermostat did not work properly and the worst part was that the sliding glass door lock was broken and it appeared to have been that way for quite some time. I was glad to have been on the 3rd floor where the balcony did not […] appear that it could easily be reached. Also the balcony floor had mold growing around the corners on the outdoor carpet. The street in front of the building has very dingy lighting and I did not want to walk to the restaurant next to the motel. I will not stay there again. Les mer

I really liked it! The beds had fresh sheets over the bedspreads which were clean and bright. It was quiet. The room was very nice, location close to everything. Nice staff. Worth it.

I was on a road trip and stopped here for the night. The room I had was very nice and clean. It was roomy and had a mini fridge, microwave, bath tube/shower. Bed was nice and comfy. The one downside was it was located on a main road which was a little loud but not horrible! This is a place you can stay by yourself or with the family. They had a weight […] room, sauna and a little covered parking area. the location was good, I was able to drive around the town and sight see. lots of stores and restaurants close by. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable. The swivel chair for the desk was in need of repair. The location of the hotel was reasonably convenient. It was in front of the fire department. I was concerned about any noise that might be annoying, but there was very little activity while I was there. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I loved my stay. My boyfriend and I went to get away from everything for awhile and we loved it. Everyone was very friendly. I've stayed at quite a few hotels for my age and I thought that this one was around the best. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My boyfriend & I stayed for 4 nights (adding a night to our original 3 night stay). The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The Eureka Old Town district was only a 3 block walk and there was a Live Art night during our stay. This was a great little place and we'd stay again, if we come back to CA.

"Good for a night"
As advertized, it's a good hotel for business travelers who are staying one night and just want a bed and a shower, with a beer and a Starbucks within walking distance. It was a little crappy but a comfortable bed, and close proximity to the necessities.

Dear folks, Our room was okay but we looked out into the maintenance yard of the local downtown Eureka Fire Department. Only one call in early AM to a fire but cleaning their trucks at 630 AM was a little much !!
This hotel was old and it smelled of something that was undoubtedly covering up smoking or something. It was horrible. It was nothing that it said it was on hotels.com. There was no breakfast as was advertised. We witnessed one guest being locked out of his room and staff unable to help open the door. Scary. Downtown Eureka is not a place you want to be at night. Drunks and homeless milling around everywhere. We grabbed some sandwiches and went back to the room for dinner instead of walking to the restaurant. Not easy to get around either because of all the one way streets. Apparently, the front desk is not manned at night. No service available. We were […] tired so we stayed but will never, ever go back. Room was marginal. Bed not comfortable and bathroom looked like a nursing home with all the extra bars, a seat in the tub etc. We left as soon as we got up the next day. Les mer
"kinda disappointed......"
The room had mold in the shower corners and mold on the inside of the window...as a former housekeeping supervisor for a major hotel, I can tell you this hotel was .......not up to par..... On the plus side the staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel is coviently located.

Had a little problem with a leak in the bathroom. They moved us immediately to an upgraded room with a jacuzzi. The staff was very friendly & helpful.
