Hotellet var rent med en trivelig betjening. Ikke must å kunne fransk, da de snakket brukbart engelsk. Beliggenhet litt utenfor bykjernen, men ca 100 meter til metroen, som tar deg raskt inn til sentrale plasser, eks. latinerkvarteret på ca 15 min. Vi likte hotellet godt, storfamilietur tre generasjoner, og god valuta for pengene, inkl. stor og god frokost, ikke bare en liten "fransk". Et godt stykke fra severdighetene, og må ta metro eller ha gode gåsko, men egentlig et ganske morsomt område rundt, ikke-turistifisert fransk byområde, variert, gammelt arbeiderklasseområde, mange franske spesialforretninger […] i matveien, ost, skjøtt, boulangerie etc. Likte området bedre og bedre. Med beliggenhet ved Voltaire er hotellet enkelt plassert - nærhet til undergrunn, et koselig og typisk fransk lokalmiljø og forholdsvis lite bystøy. Stedet fremstår som forholdsvis enkelt i standard men er pusset opp på en greit fungerende måte. Personalet er både vennlige og service-minded. For egen del besøkte jeg stedet med barn på 7,5 og bestemor […] på 83 og alle tre generasjoner var tilfredse! Dette er hotellet jeg vil anbefale dersom man ønsker å bo godt for en rimelig pris og synes det er greit å trekke seg litt tilbake etter endt dag som turist - men samtidig ønsker å beholde den lokale sjarmen det er med et glass rødvin og en ostebit på fortauet. Personalet i resepsjonen var bra og de kommuniserte godt på engelsk. Vårt tresengsrom var et litdobbeltsengsrom som det var satt en ekstra seng inn i. Av den grunn var det ikke plass til en eneste koffert. Vedlikehold på rom og bad var elendig. Det samme gjaldt korridorer osv. Alt var slitt! Frokostsalen var også svært liten og klarte ikke å "ta unna" […] etter hvert som gjestene kom dit. Men til tross for dette, hadde vi et flott opphold in Paris! Les mer

Lite og OK hotell 150 meter fra Metroen og dermed lett tilgang til det meste i Paris. Knøttlite rom men det var ventet. Rent og OK frokost inkludert i prisen. Hyggelig betjening som ga oss anvisninger om hvordan vi kom oss til de forskjellige severdigheter. 3 stjerners hotell med hyggelig betjening. Rengjøringen av bad kunne vært noe bedre, frokosten var i overkant av hva vi kunne forvente til den rimelige prisen. Veldig hyggelig betjening og koselig strøk. Kort vei til "Metro".

Hotellrommet var litt trangt, men dette gikk helt fint. Man er ikke i Paris for å sove bort dagen. Hotellet funker veldig bra, om en skal ut å se på byen. Var meget kort vei til metro, dagligvarehandel, resturant, mc donalds, og nær Père Lachaise, som er største kirkegården i Paris, hvor blandt annet Jim Morrison er begravd (Verd og se). Ellers var […] frokosten noe kjedelig, men helt ok med tanke på pris på hotellet. Bemanningen var veldig koselig, og hjalp oss med å finne ut hvor vi måtte dra, og hvilke metrostopper osv alt hadde. lovely helpful staff. Delicious buffet breakfast. room a little dark but very quiet. Efficient. Would stay there again anytime. Room small, but this is Paris, and you don't stay in your room. Very handy to sightseeing, and lots of good cafes. Excellent, highly recommended. Fridge with small minibar. All that one could want.

Very unfriendly area smal room and my wife was bitten by bed bags

Small room (we barely got in with the pram), most things were semibroken: electric plugs did not work, the drawers were broken, the elevator (which we really needed) stopped working, the madrass was so soft we had to take it off the bed, the walls were too thin, one day the room was not made, only towels had been thrown in ... sorry, not a place I can […] recommend. The hotel is just beside d metro, a supermarket, restaurants and Internet and phone shop. Room was clean and comfortable but small. Breakfast was very good value for money

Make sure, however, that you don’t get the room next to the elevator. The noise from the elevator door opening and closing was not intolerable, but irritating enough. So stay away from all rooms ending with “01”. Also, I was staying at the hotel in the middle of winter, and with no heating in the bathroom and the bathroom facing the backyard it was […] a pretty chilly experience. But there was heating in the bedroom and the room was clean enough. The day after, I asked for another room. I was met by an Egyptian female receptionist who was very friendly and helpful. She provided me with a great room on the top floor – as far you can get from the elevator. It even had a view. Thank you so much! Great service! The breakfast was also very good, and the male waiter was very kind and helpful. The location was also great. It is nearby the Marais area, which I love, and it is in walking distance to the Hotel de Ville area, Louvre and Notre Dame. All great places to see! Still the era is not so touristy yet, there are a lot of places to eat and on Sundays, there is local flee market just 100 meters from the hotel. So, all in all I’d recommend the hotel to anyone and would love to come back some other time! Les mer

Very small room and thin walls.. Great location by metro, safe neighborhood and very comfortable beds.. Front desk very helpful and spoke great english

The hotel was very small for 3 people. The third bed was a roll a way, which made the space very cramped. The space was cramped, the floor needed cleaning, but the location was fairly close to the Paris tourist locations.

The entrance was quite nice & so was the breakfast. My room was definetly a single room with a single bed. My only real complaint was the water presure or lack of. Would have been better to use the sink. The location was great with a plenty of shops and restaurants

My room was right next to the lift & the window opened onto wall. There was a lot of noise coming from downstairs somewhere, not at the hotel. It was too humid to have the window closed to block the noise. I could not open the bathroom door fully as it opened against the bed. Even so there were positives and I would stay again. As the hotel is a 2 minute walk from the nearest Metro station, it was very easy to get to. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. The only drawback was there was no air conditioning in our room, but nothing an open window couldn't sort out. There was no street noise, but no nice views either. I would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff. Great breakfast included. Free wifi connection. We travelled to other cities and returned. They kept some of our luggage with no additional cost. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

We thought this hotel was excellent. We had booked online and were unsure as to the quality etc. However, we had our expectations exceeded. The hotel was a very short walk from the Metro stop 'Voltaire', and gave excellent access to the sights of Paris. There was a good range of restaurants in the locality, all with pleasant and friendly staff who […] understood that our command of the language was limited! The hotel staff were extremely friendly and always happy to help. A continental breakfast was available each morning, which was enough for our needs. Our only criticism would be that the hotel did not have its own bar. This may be better for those with smaller children who do not feel that they want to sit in a local bar. However, the hotel seemed to have no problem with guests taking drinks back to their rooms. All in all, a friendly and pleasant experience and one we would be happy to repeat. Les mer

If you want to hit the bed for the night the hotel is good.. otherwise you will get better hotels in close to city centre location.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Candide in Paris and enjoyed the hotel's location, cleanliness, and breakfasts before exploring Paris. It is away from the main attractions which made the neighborhood quiet, the price was right and the Metro was very convieniently nearby. Not much of a view out of our window with only an ally and the back of buildings […] behind the hotel but again...that is what we expected for the price. When we arrived, the weather was really hot and there was no airconditioning. Fortunately there was a portable fan in our room. My son's room was less fortunate and the front desk could not provide a fan. Luckily the heat only lasted a day or so and it cooled down at night the other nights. Although not a flashy large hotel, it was good for the price. The front desk and breakfast staff was extremely nice and helpful when we needed help. I would recommend this hotel for those on a budget and who do not expect frills and large rooms. The rooms were small, but I expected this as part of our trip to Europe. Les mer

Two things to remember: 1) Paris is not in America, therefore not to American standards, and 2) a three star hotel in France is a 1.5 in the USA. That being said, this hotel was a shock to walk into. Yes, the room is very small and everything is very old, BUT, it was relatively clean. The carpet looked horrible but my socks were not dirty. The breakfast […] buffet is terrific, especially the homemade croissants, and there's a lot to choose from: yogurt, breads, lunch meats, cereals, coffee, teas, juices. You definitely won't start your sightseeing hungry! Our bathroom, however, had a serious sewage smell. We had to keep the door closed and the shower curtain pulled in order to be able to breathe. It was necessary to keep our room windows open in order for air to circulate. I pity the person/s who has to endure this room during a heat wave! Also, you hear EVERYTHING that goes on everywhere just because of the way things are set up. It's too hard to explain So if you're a light sleeper, look elsewhere! If you plan on using a laptop, wi-fi is free, which is great, but there is only one outlet so no desk or room lighting other than the wall mounted lamp beside the bed. There is one on each side. I guess this was one advantage to the room being small! When we first walked in, the first thing I did was try to book another room somewhere else, but being that this was Bastille Day and a four day weekend, everything was booked. I was willing to "pay through my teeth" then realized I already am! This room is comparable to a low end room from America's low end motel chain for the price of a nice hotel in a larger city - but this is Paris! All that being said, the beds and bedding were clean, but I washed the towels myself (even clean they look old and dirty) at the laundromat 4 doors up. The front desk girl is very nice (everyone here is), but she did not know the laundromat was so close but thankfully another guest did. The area is very convenient to the "Voltaire" Metro station. this hotel was very poorly maintained and has no ariconditioning, It is stuffy and small. The frontdesk staff were all very cheerful and helpful though, and location not too bad as metro was only 150 metres away. Rooms were small and gloomy.

The staff were helpful but the rooms were very squashy. The surrounding cafe's were good.

Nice neighborhood in Paris, not terribly close to the sights but the Metro is great. Clean and simple, friendly staff.

We found the hotel location useful for getting to the sites we wanted by both bus and Metro. The room was fine as a place to sleep which is about all we used it for. Breakfast was adaquate and there are shops in the local area to buy snacks at a reasonable price. Overall an outstanding place to use as a home base for a short trip to Paris.

Bathroom had a leaky sink and had to put towels on floor to soak up water, informed staff everyy day. After 2 days were moved to another small room. No internet in rooms unless you pay extra. Hotel had 24 hour reception and staff were all very nice and helpful and all spoke English. Everything was excellent. Front desk clerks were helpful. Breakfast was included and very nice quality. I would definitely choose this hotel again. There was a little problem with the shuttle pick up to the airport but we were able to resolve issue (for a price!)

Three of us stayed at this hotel and it is perfect for tourists. The room size was decent considering we shoved three people in a room and so was the bathroom. The location is great too because if necessary you can walk everywhere (for example, coming back late from a night out after the subway stops running) or you can use the subway or buses that […] stop right next to the hotel. The staff was helpful and the neighborhood was nice. Any negatives about the hotel can be ignored because you only spend time in the hotel while sleeping, especially if you are tourist. The price was also great and we got a deal for three people. Probably not the place for students though, more for family and business. Les mer

Good, Clean & nice rooms. Great Staff, Good breakfast , Excellent Location close to Metro station & Local Shopps. Wifi available in the lobby area only. But Over all , very satisfied.Will be back to saty there again.

The hotel is very pleasant and the staff is very nice. The rooms are small but well appointed and the breakfasts are fine. The only drawback is that the place is not air conditioned, which would not normally be a problem, but this year it was, as the temperature reached 97 F. The surrounding neighborhood has little character, but the hotel is very close […] to the metro and to many bus lines. This was our third stay at the hotel and we will gladly go back again. Les mer

The New Hotel Candide, Paris is a basic, clean, no frills hotel very convenient to Metro. Pleasant neighborhood. Great to have a mini-bar fridge in the room with wonderful cheese, grocery and fruit stores and bakeries close by. Comfortable bed. Room very, very small. At times it was almost comical. Could only open the bathroom door half way as it would […] bump into the bed. Only one person at a time could walk past the bed - about 15 inches between end of bed and the wall. But who spends much time in the room when Paris awaits? Can't say the staff was rude, but they were not particularly helpful and never gave the impression they valued our business. But they answered our questions and provided a map when requested. We were not able to get extra pillows. We were told only housekeeping had access to supplies and housekeeping staff leaves at noon. Excellent price for Paris. And for the price, we did not expect gracious, spacious elegance. The room served its purpose - a clean, safe place to sleep and shower while visiting an extraordinary city. Les mer

Pleasant unobtrusive staff and nice renovated facility. Neighborhood is "real" and walkable to center and interesting sites. Included breakfast is a unusual feature currently in Paris. Meal was very nice; Cheerful space and varied offerings. Computer for guest use. Happy to recommend.

Remodeled hotel, in a kind good location, near the metro. Service was ok, the room was good, clean and confortable.

This was the second time we've stayed at this hotel. This year it was very hot in Paris, so the lack of air conditioning made for a slightly less pleasant stay. Overall, however, this hotel is great for the money: the staff is very pleasant, the rooms are attractive if a bit small, breakfasts are very good, and the location is convenient.
