Hyggelig opphold med venner. Personalet gjorde en veldig god jobb ved spørsmål. Minus for at de ikke tok seg tid til å vise oss rommet som lå noen dører og ganger fra resepsjonen. God service i restauranten og god mat (spiste kun frokost og en lett kveldsmat). Stort minus for små og utrivelige rom til 5 stjerner å være!! Skuffende :-( Fantastisk flott […] hage og uteområde, fin beliggenhent med gåavstand til sentrum. SPA avdeling og trimrom ble inspisert men ikke brukt, delvis pga manglende tid men også fordi det ikke var innbydende nok. Dårlig service av ansatte i SPA og dårlig lukt i trimrommet. Vi valgte helelr å ta oss en løpetur langs kanalen som vi fikk anbefalt av personalet i resepsjonen. Les mer

10 minutter fra sentrum, landlig beliggende i gammel herskapsbolig. Høy standard og flott parkanlegg. Varierende service, men et bra alternativ til de tradisjonelle byhotellene.

This hotel had everything we looked for in a hotel in Bath - and a bit more. We got a very good price on Hotels.com, but got exactly the same great service as everybody else. The hotel is romantic, the staff are amazing, great food - we had some dietary needs which the chef solved in an impressive manner. The spa is wonderful. Lovely and not crowded. […] Indoor pool, outdoor, two different saunas, two different steam rooms, ice room, massage shower etc. The hotel also has a great gym. Didn't try any of the additional spa treatments, but was very happy with the rest. Very nice room, big and comfy bed, large bathroom, everything you can ask for. Internet is free if you borrow a wire in the reception. The hotel is a ten minute walk (through a lovely park and some very handsome streets )from Bath city centre. It's also worth to notice that Bath is easily accesible from London, the train from the city centre takes 1 hour 30 mins till Paddington. Les mer

Macdonald Bath Spa is a very nice hotel with a great location. It takes 10 minutes to walk (through a romantic park) down to the town centre of Bath. The rooms are elegant and comfortable and the staff is friendly and professional. The spafacilities are also great and very relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Our stay was exactly what we wanted. An ideal place to get away and relax. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Even the weather was kind to us!

Nice stay

The hotel was fantastic and we would have scored it a 5 overall, however the table service in the bar and restaurant let them down as we often had to wait to be served, or go and find the waiters to ask for further drinks or the bill. Overall though, a brilliant weekend. The spa facilities were fantastic!

The Macdonald Bath Spa is lovely, the staff is helpful and attentive. We were automatically upgraded to a suite which was a wonderful surprise. No complaints. Would definitely stay there again.

Took advantage of mid week cheap rate, wouldn't ever pay full whack for this hotel. To merit this it needs to feel like a five star hotel which it really doesn't. I've just returned from a stay at a Sofitel and recently in a Mandarin and Penninsula - all of which felt like proper 5 star experiences: this 2/3 at best by comparison (too often this is […] the case with provincial chain hotels in the UK). I'm a local and was having a bit of a staycation, as such I know where to eat and not pay a premium for hotel nosh that really doesn't merit it. eg: Baked Fillet of Wild Sea Bass with a Shitake Mushroom Sauce £27.50 with a £5.00 Supplement for Dinner (which alone puts me right off) = £32.50 (at time of writing) for sea bass fillet? I've chalked up some very impressive restaurant bills in my time, but this would top even last summers bottle of vintage Chateau Lafite in Bangkok at that rate, without the fun of knowing that you're indulging yourself! The pool felt a bit municipal, the steam rooms weren't too bad. The outdoor deck area in particular however should be given the care / consideration that the garden spaces at the front of the hotel are afforded, but it really felt like this area was put together by a contractor who just threw up a series of fence panels, and filled it with furniture. But it's free for guests, so that's something. All in all, the Crescent would be where I would point you to stay in Bath if you want a 5 star experience, this isn't too bad if you get a good rate, but don't expect too much. Les mer

MacDonald Bath Spa is a beautiful hotel. It's a little stuffy in an upper crust English way which is totally not our thing but if you can get past that it's very romantic. Highly recommended for the friendliness of the staff and the top quality accommodation. Our executive room, although on the small side, was on the top floor and had a magnificent view over the whole city. What a pity the restaurant is so expensive, though. We ate in only on our first night. We were disappointed with the limited choice, the VERY slow […] service and the exorbitant price of food and wine. Pre-dinner drinks were equally exorbitant and, unsurprisingly, the bar was closed on our second night. We thought £20 for breakfast, regardless of Continental or full English, was also exorbitant. I enjoyed a facial in the hotel's Spa, but was very disappointed with the management of a massage. The therapist was running 10 minutes late, but no apology was offered, nor was the time made up.£72 is rather alot to pay for a 50 minute massage, with no additional advice or care.There was an apology for the bad drain smell from the wash basin, but no attempt to move rooms or mask the smell. No hair protection could be found, despite this being standard in every salon I've ever been in - and, indeed, was provided for the earlier facial. The Relaxation Room was littered with used cups and had clearly not been tidied for some time, although someone did do this while I was there. I'm sure these are management issues, quite separate from the hotel itself, but the Spa should certainly address them. Les mer

For the price I paid from Hotels.com which was incidently significantly discounted, it proved to be great value for money and at that price I certainly would stay there again.

We loved this hotel - very luxurious and the rooms were beautiful. Food was not great but we enjoyed every other aspect. It is within easy walking distance of the town centre and also has beautiful grounds and gardens. Spa and pool facilities were very nice. We will definitely go back.

I've just got back from a long weekend break here with my husband and parents-in-law. We booked garden rooms (Executive rooms on Hotels.com) and had a great time. The beds were HUGE (could get about 4 people in if you wanted). The staff were friendly and helpful, though it was sometimes hard to get hold of room service. It is a nice walk into town (10-15 […] minutes stroll), which was great before and after eating. Top tip: if you go on the city bus tour you can take the skyline tour up the hill to the side of the hotel under the same ticket, then just walk around to the main gate. Saved our legs twice after spending all day walking the sights. A taxi from the town centre was £7. Positives: room was lovely. Pool and sauna complex was amazing, especially the outdoor pool. Gym equipment impressed my husband. I had a nice treatment in the spa too. Negatives: food and drink were very expensive - we ate and drank in town, and took a few bottles of our own..... Les mer

We booked into Macdonald Spa for 2 nights. We also booked into the Thermae baths on one day. I think that's a complete waste of money if you're staying at Macdonald Spa. The water is a few degrees warmer at the hotel and the whole experience is much more relaxing. There's too many people at the thermae baths and the water, especially on the rooftop […] is not warm enough. Two negatives are the 15m walk into the centre and the breakfast was rather expensive but all in all I loved Macdonald Bath Spa and would go there again. Les mer

We stayed in the hotel with our young baby and it was lovely. We had a room upgrade to a four poster, massive comfy bed, we ordered room service which was good and the spa was lovely, particularly the outside spa. I have been there before and the place is not as grand as I remember but it is very close to the city and I would definately stay there again […] if I could get a deal on the room. The only criticism I have is that there are steps to the hotel and I had to try and get a big pram up them whilst 3 or 4 staff members stood by and did not help. Les mer

The rooms are sorely in need of an upgrade. The building , its surroundings and the genereal neighbourhood are superb, but I can't say the same about the rooms. Room service was something out of Faulty Towers -- a real joke!

The perfect base to see the lovely city of Bath, especially at Christmas time. The rooms are very comfortable, staff couldn't be more helpful and a visit to the restaurant and spa is a must . Having visited the ThermaeSpa, the hotel spa is easily comparable, only smaller. The hotel is a short taxi ride away from the centre (sorry, far too many shopping […] bags to consider the walk, although it is possible!). It was a lovely relaxing weekend. Les mer

The hotel was very nice, a short walk from Bath town centre and set in a beautiful surroundings. The spa facilities were of a very high quality and the staff friendly. My only complaint would be that I was charged for parking in the hotel car park, that seemed a bit odd. There was also a rule against children going into the outdoor pool. I can appreciate […] other guests do not want to be bothered but we're responsible parents to our 10 month old daughter and she would have loved it.... maybe when older? much older obviously. We stayed for 3 nights to visit Bath and see the Christmas markets. We've been regular visitors to this hotel for the last 4 years and so would recommend the hotel. Overall it was a great hotel. The decor, the room, the bathroom, the service, and the facilities are great. Location wise, we have to walk 15-20min to get to the center of Bath, but it is quite a comfortable walk. But you should be prepared to pay extra for anything else other than the standard room charge. Let alone wi-fi, morning newspaper delivered […] to the room cost 1pound each, which we were not told when we check in and should not be charged as a 5 star hotel. They also charge 1 pound extra for charity of their choice, which I don't mind but would be nice if we are told at the time of check in. And also outdoor parking costs 5 pounds per day despite the fact that they have a lot of car spaces. Les mer

This was well worth the money...the spa area was 10 times better at the hotel than the Therma spa in town. I would have been disappointed to go to a regular hotel then only have the Therma spa experience. Staff were very lovely and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to unwind and have a spa break in Bath.

We very much enjoyed the Spa Hotel, Bath and in particular the staff and atmosphere was so friendly and helpful.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during a trip to the UK. What a beautiful place! The accommodation had plenty of room for us and our 12 year old son (fold out bed - with a lovely thick mattress and very comfortable). The facilities of the hotel were also very good. The only downside is that a lot of the facilities, i.e jacuzzi, steam room, cold […] room and outside pool were not accessible to our son as he was under 14 and I feel this should be more openly advertised, although he was more than happy to use the indoor pool! We had a turndown service to our room and it was lovely to come back after an evening meal and find Classic FM playing on the tv, the curtains drawn and soft lighting on. We only had one meal at the hotel and this was breakfast which was quite expensive for the 3 of us at 52 pounds - that said it was very good! The staff could not do enough for you and were always extremely courteous and helpful. We would definitely recomme nd this hotel to friends and family and stay there again ourselves. Les mer

Plus points: Rooms, value, spa, outdoor swimming pool/jacuzzi. Minus points: Automaticallly adding £1 for a charity donation on check out and £5 for parking. Breakfast not included. We stayed here in September 2011 for a special offer of 70% off per night. The hotel is situated abbout 10 minutes walk from the city centre in a very up market area of […] town (although most of the town is upmarket to be honest!) The rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms are fantastic (including Molton Brown products). You get to use the spa facilities for free, which includes an outdoor sunbathing area with a swimming pool and jacuzzi/whirl pool types things. The only main downside is the cheeky £1 that they automatically add for a charity donation on checkout. You can guarantee that MacDonald Hotels put this towards their own charity donations for the year and big themselves up in their yearly accounts. Ridiculous!!! I give enough money to charity without being forced by a hotel. They said that you can opt out but no scrooge is going to do this once it's been added. Les mer

No complaints- the staff were charming, the food was excellent and the room was excellent too. We thought when we booked it that it was a bit far out of town if the weather was bad, but as it turned out, it was a comfortable walk. The hotel garden is beatiful with some rare trees in it.

First time in Bath and first time in a Macdonald hotel - and we were impressed by both. Quality hotel with very good staff and facilities to match. Only downside was how quiet the lounge always seemed although to be fair this wasnt a bad thing if you wanted to read.... Not great. The service in the restaurant was poor. Firstly the waiters forgot our wine, then asked us if we wanted desert or coffee before our main courses had arrived, then forgot to bring the side order with one of the main meals. Booked a room for one night (saturday) arrived at hotel about 11.30 am and the room was already available! it was clean, comfortable and very quiet. The room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the spa area. Ideal location for walking into Bath centre. Used the swimming pool and spa rooms on saturday which were not busy at all. The hotel was fully […] booked but you wouldn't have known it ! The room was so quiet and enjoyed a very relaxed weekend would use this hotel again. Compared to all other hotel in the UK this hotel is spacious, have all the amenities, and offers indoor swimming pool, a spa, and a good exercise room. I would definitely select it again.

No hot water in the morning - unbelieveable for a 5 star hotel. When asked reception, was told that it happens from time to time. Ok if you can hang around and wait for it to be fixed, but would not recommend if you need to leave for a meeting.

Unfortunately, the summary of this stay is "5 Star prices without the 5 star benefits". Positives: Spa Facilities and service, Quality of the food served, good location - nice grounds/gardens, Some small examples of excellent customer service/politeness. Negatives: Excessive prices with poor value for money (and being charged for parking on top was […] a cost too far and is just mean), hotel decor is mainly tired, room decor was tired, some examples very poor of customer service/politeness experienced, restaurant decor is tired, unwelcoming and unpleasant, dress standards declared and not upheld. Very pleasant stay and friendly, helpful staff. The spa was perfect with a lovely pool and jacuzzi inside and a small outside pool with jakuzzi plus plenty of room to sit or lie in the sun. We didn't try the breakfast, as it was a bit pricey and there were lots of cafes in the town within walking distance. Also friends who came by car felt that a […] car park fee wasn't really justified for guests. The room was gorgeous with a huge window and lovely view. It was a bit disconcerting however that the window was floor to ceiling without even a small rail to stop you walking straight out to the drop below - a small detail in an otherwise gorgeous room.. Upgraded to a suite upon request, which was excellent apart from an uncomfortable bed !! Spa facilities excellent and Hotel only a short walk from Bath centre. Hotel itself is well presented in every way. Hotel is not cheap and the practice of charging for car parking is "petty".

Despite being very polite, staff was absolutelly inefficient and unable to meet our needs. Simple things as asking to fix the heating, or bringing the TV's remote control didn't get done, or took ages. For the price we paid, the expectation was to receive 5 star service. Far from that.

We had the standard room and it was standard. Lower ground, so quite dark. Uninteresting furniture, uninteresting bathroom. No Wifi in the rooms, paying wifi in the lobby, damaged door handle, fuzzy TV reception on ITV. Basically, it was fine. They cater a huge amount for large uninspiring weddings and conferences, it seems. Fine if someone else is […] paying for it and you're not expecting anything special. Rather disappointing otherwise. Try the Queensberry, I hear it's much better for a weekend away. Les mer

Wonderful stay in beautiful Bath at this great hotel. Food in Vellore restaurant was amazing and loved the outdoor pool and spa facilities.

Best hotel in our two week trip through the UK Exceptional service from all. The restaurant was superb and the spa fully equipped.
