Mercure Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel - Dorking

I've stayed at this hotel many times. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast service is top notch! Freshly cooked to order when it's quiet enough. Really comfy beds, rooms are a good size and 10 minutes to the M25.

We have stayed in this hotel in the past, but felt a little disappointed after this visit. It could be excellent with just a little effort. The service at reception was very slow though staff were very friendly, and prices for extras seem to be rather expensive for the level of staffing. Breakfast was very good. We had a lovely weekend away at this hotel. Staff were polite and efficient. The room was small but clean and the bed magnificently comfy. The only criticism I had, was the walls were really thin so you could hear other peoples conversations and movements very easily. And there was no free access to wifi in your room. Pros:Stayed here for a wedding in the Tithe Barn. Bedoom and TB air conditioned, excellent as temperature outside was 33*C. Evening meal in dining room delicious, staff there helpful, friendly, obliging but not intrusive. Cons: highchairs in very poor state of repair; directed to 'ground floor' garden rooms up outside, uneven, steps! Found access round […] side of building, path overgrown and very dark at night. Parking across road from hotel, very busy indeed with would-be Bradley Wiggins cyclists racing round corner and up and down Box Hill. Les mer

Good location, easy to see Box Hill with its splendid views. Good size outdoor pool. Room in good condition - maybe bathroom could do with some deep cleaning. Breakfast was the best I can remember - very high quality choices, and lovely attentive waiting staff (all that is except one waiter who seemed to hover in the corner trying to chat with the hard […] working waitresses. It was very nice. The breakfasts were superb. The only slight complaint was that the rooms were a bit small for three of us (my wife, myself and my daughter). The place and hotel itself were very nice though and I would stay there again.

We went for two nights as we had been invited to a birthday celebration in the attached Tythe Barn. The accommodation was therefore very convenient. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful throughout our stay and the breakfasts in the hotel were good. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if I was invited to another event there.

This hotel is ideally situated near Dorking , with Denbies Vineyards walking distance and the Olympic cycling road race just round the corner on the famous Box Hill zig zag . The restaurant has a small but well chosen menu and the wine list ranges from the quaffable to the exotic . Ideal for a getaway from it all weekend .

Very good apart from the waiting staff not being aware of what they can do.Also we did not receive the, daily Mail we ordered.

This is a historic spot with something for everyone , nature , history , location , you name it . The staff are obviously proud of their hotel and its facilities and provide a warm welcome,. The restaurant is excellent and the bar meals ideal if your appetite is not up to three courses . Wine selections are also well described with a good choice

Perfect location, lovely setting, we had a premium room which was worth the extra cost. Breakfast let the hotel down. Disorganised, lack of attention to detail meant we didn't get a cup of tea until we had eaten the cooked breakfast - or should I say half of the cooked breakfast which was topped up on a bit by bit basis, over a period of 20 mins. No […] marmalade - tons of apricot jam. This is an English hotel! Cold, thin toast on racks - so 70s. Step up the breakfast service and you will warrant the 4* rating - a lot of what earns you that rating is natural. Setting, location etc. Walls a bit thin, so you can hear fellow guest's noise - I recommend taking ear plugs if you want to rest/sleep soundly. Having said that, great dark curtains help you to lie in! A bit more effort required in terms of customer service. Les mer

Nous avions choisi cet hotel pour sa proximité aux grands axes comme la M25 près de Londres tout en bénéficiant d'un cadre bucolique et très calme.Le petit déjeuner est correct et copieux (buffet à l'anglaise). Par contre la ville de Dorking à proximité ne présente aucun charme particulier.
