"Love Hamptons"
Very nice, as usual. Only suggestion would be, next time Hotels are remodeling, take the bath tubs out and make a roomier shower.
"An okay place to stay, if you can't find better"
We stayed here on the last night before the end of our cross-country trip. We got a room with a whirlpool tub, so we could relax for a bit before our last full day of driving. After 5-10 minutes of being in the tub, the water started turning blue and the filter in the side of the tub looked bright blue. I felt like I was bathing in a huge toilet and […] didn't think whatever chemicals being released would be good for me, so I gave up on the bath and took a shower instead. When I mentioned it to the staff the next morning, they all made jokes about it and ridiculed me. The head housekeeper went to check on it, but she didn't even know the tub had a filter and decided there wasn't a problem after running the water for a minute or two. None of them had any explanations or apologies. Also, about 5-6 in the morning, I was awakened by loud noises outside our room. When I left the room for breakfast (which was great, surprisingly), a housekeeper was painting the room across from us with the door wide open and a ladder in the doorway. I mentioned something about waking up so early to loud noises and the lady who was "helping" me scoffed that anybody would be working before 8am and told me that either I didn't realize what time it was when I woke up (I had my phone next to me) or it must have been some people with rowdy kids who were also there the night before opening and closing doors. When the housekeeper who was painting the room happened to walk in, she even made a point to tell her that I thought she woke me up painting early in the morning so they could have a laugh at my expense right in front of me. If the sounds I heard weren't a ladder being moved around and folded/unfolded, then the doors in that hotel sound remarkably metallic and loud when being opened and closed and the walls must be super thin. The only good thing about this hotel was the breakfast, but I wish we had driven to Memphis instead. Les mer
"Hampton Inn in Forrest City, Arkansas"
Have stayed here many times on trips between Dallas and Midwest. Very easy interstate access. Area has moderate restaurants, gas stations and usual fast food places. Very peaceful nites and a breakfast complete with take along snacks.

"Hotel doesn't seem familiar with online bookings"
Upon arriving at Hampton Inn Forrest City, we were told we didn't have a reservation after using hotels.com to book the night before. Had to try to use their "business center" computer to obtain our confirmation number, and there was only one computer, already occupied by someone looking at used cars. Had to get our laptop out of the car, powered up, […] ask for the access code at the front desk, only for the employee to say, "Oh, is this you?" and pick up our reservation that was RIGHT IN FRONT of him! Meanwhile, 3 hungry kids, and panicking trying to get comfirmation number as clerk blathers on about how fast rooms are filling up. Request a crib, which I had done at hotels.com upon booking, only to be told he just "sold" the last one. Annoying to be charged for a crib, more annoying to find out there isn't one available when I booked 24 hours earlier. Got to "nonsmoking" room which reeked of smoke. Room did appear otherwise clean but very small. Not many options for eating in run-down Forrest City. Probably better to stop in Memphis or Little Rock if you can make it. Les mer
