Good price. Comfortable room and beds. Excellent central location - like being close to Chinatown. Great buffet breakfast - consistently good. Need a bed lamp on both sides of the bed. Needed a blanket to replace doona as it was too warm in the room - found it difficult to adjust temp.

it might seem inexpensive but compared to surrounding hotels, where staff is also much friendlier and more helpful, this place charges exorbitant fees for internet service, breakfast is not included nor is a proper blanket/comforter provided. Stay at the Crossley Hotel, same area ( a little nicer actually - less busy on Little Bourke), really nice staff, […] comparable rooms, free internet and a wonderful breakfast included!! Checking in was easy and the staff were nice and accommodating. Our room was simple but well kept. My only complaint would be an odd unpleasant smell that persisted throughout my stay.

When I checked in the front desk staff were not entirely welcoming. once arrived in my room went to have a shower and the water was lukewarm, apparently when many have showeres at the same time there isnt enough hot water to go around. I was then moved to another room with hot water. At the new room the ph wasnt working and it took me 10 minutes to […] find a line to call reception. when i ordered food service the food was disgusting. I got the Executive room, when arrived, the balcony was out looking an alley way, not very nice and was covered in cigarette ash, the room was also not cleaned very well. I spoke to customer service to say i wasnt happy, put through to the manager who upgraded room to the superior room, much nicer in terms of the view and room quality but level of cleaning […] still needs to be increased, as dirty marks on walls and floor. crazy breakfast pricing policy,guests charged $17, guests visitors $27????? room crammed with TV stand, one chair!!!! 1980 style furniture, would expect better, bathroom needs upgrading. excellent reception staff, under trying conditions.

I was told my children would be able to have friends wait for them before going out. I was told as long as they were quiet coming & going it would be ok. I paid, top dollar, nearly twice as much than last time for a smaller room. On the night, we arrived at the room & though before 12 was asked to vacate the room of all friends. We did, in 20 mins on […] the first request. On return later, 1 son & friend were refused entry because 1 son had stayed asleep. They were both unable to return to the room to get any belongings, only 1 allowed. what happened to looking after a person when intoxicated. The Reception made things veery difficult for both my sons, their friends who only wanted to clear the room out, which they said many times, n(1drunk NOT being able to do it). your staff were rude and totally unwilling to assist us. This is the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. it is not fancy, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the price is certainly not extravagent. It is unfortunate that the pool was closed (second time) as the experience of swimming on the roof excites my son no end..there was no explanation why it was closed. This hotel has an excellent location but if you're looking for four star luxury, look elsewhere. Clean, reasonably priced, and friendly enough service. But the "king" size bed had a big gap between the two twin beds, the bathroom was showing its thirty odd years of age, and the fittings looked worse for wear.

First room offered was pretty ordinary but accepted as assumed part of the price for the room. However, the airconditioning was not working and when the duty manager came up to the room and offered a fan or portable water cooler we were quite shocked. After our protest, they gave us another room which was an upgrade and very comfortable. No complaints […] about the hotel but I think they should have thought about a more attractive offer first other than a "fan" as a fix for a non working airconditioner. To be fair they did give us a better room and were helpful and courteous. Les mer

What ever happened to the word "trust"?? It use to be that if a guest said he/she didn't use the mini bar that, was the end of the discussion Now we have to give over Credit Card details for the Hotel to take 100 dollars just in case So what if the cleaners use the bar fridge? Then bill it to our credit card ......... this system is ridiculous ..... […] we need to go back to the old way Especially when it takes from Tuesday to Sunday to be reimbursed the 100 dollars!!!! What if one does not have a credit card anyways? NOT HAPPY Les mer

The location is central and within easy walking distance to many main tourist stops; however the upkeep of the rooms and hallways were awful.

It was a plesant stay .I would recommend this to hotel to others.Great location.The only thing is the hotel needs some updating eg carpets they realy need it..B'fast was great.

Great location staff lovely but the bacolny rooms are very small with only a double sagging bed very uncomfortable.

I've stayed at the GC a number of times. Noting spectacular, just decent clean rooms at a reasonable price. Positioned very close to China town, and a hort walk to shops, pubs, bars etc. A great base camp if you want to explore Melbourne. A bit of a hike if you're in town for the sporting events though.

We stayed here the night before Melbourne marathon and specifically asked for a quite room to ensure we got a good night sleep. This is NOT what we got. We were put on level 17, next to the lift and the entrance to the pool. Everytime someone called the lift it sounded a door bell. And everytime someone went to the pool the door would slam. At best […] we got 3 hours sleep. The hot water was also tempermental. It was either burning hot or cold. Not what you want after you have run 42.2km! Breakfast was good for $16 special. Staff were very friendly. Location is great. If we had of been put in a quite room I'm sure we would have love this hotel. Very disappointed our request was not considered. Les mer

Besides the fact, that the beds could have been better, there is nothing to complain about this hotel. If you are not used to city-noise, you should ask for a room above level 8.

The rooftop pool was great fun, the bathroom was a good size, the actual room was clean and tidy and a bonus to have a balcony. The only downside was how the key card to access the room would only work sporadically and despite efforts from front desk staff (who were not apologetic) remained so during our stay.

I thorth ths would have been the first hotel that i have been so unhappy with. Room was small and poky, heater was not working, very cold, both lamps were not working. Ordered room service for breakfast, not nice at all, cost $31.00, could have gone to Maccas and enjoyed it more and much cheaper. Very convenient location to all things. Got good internet deal with buffet brekkie included. Good choice of food. there is nothing grand about this hotel, (check in), phone rang so reception had a talk and checked us in at the same time,the hotel is run down the walls in the corridore was fallins of, the wall where dirty, the room was so noisy the bed was very uncomfortable,the curtain didn`t meet in the corner so the lights came in, the breakfastther was a lot […] to choose from, warm yoghurt, cold bacon and eggs, had to ask to have them microwaved to warm up, not good. I stayed at the hotel for two nights over the long Easter weekend, and I had a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly, and when I needed to use the printer they gladly let me print off some pages. They also minded our luggage for a few hours both before and after my stay there. To be honest, I had high expectations before arriving, but the interior […] wasn't as high class as I expected.. so the photos sort of make it seem lovelier than it actually is. But the bathroom was very clean, and they have all the minimum facilities such as iron, fridge, tv etc. It's also at a convenient location for those who love staying out late for clubs and bars. Staying at The Grand Chancellor Melbourne is always wonderful. Great parking at The Grand Chancellor Melbourne, clean room, close to shopping, trains,trams and entertainment. What more could you ask for. loved it.

The corridors were shabby and uninviting. The grout in the shower was black.(Room 407 for the benefit of the manager) The towels were thin. Some of our beds were lumpy or rocked. It is hard to understand its rating as 4 star.

Hotel was clean and tidy. 24 hr service desk was handy, but we did not use it due to the convenient location near QV centre and coffee stores/convenience stores.

handy location for shopping, excellent meals in restaurant, breakfast not up to par. Daily checking of mini Bar while do not disturb sign on door a minus, along with beer can behind the easy chair. Otherwise a good stay.

Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location to restaurants and shopping areas. Clean and comfortable room. Pool not as warm as we thought, but still fun to be swimming on the roof.

My only complaint was that our room did not get serviced until after 4.00pm and once we had to request it to be serviced. Generally quite clean. Staff friendly and helpful.

When you have to drive 4 1/2 hours to your stay you really appreciate being able to get parking for your car in a safe and close car park. MY room was lovely and clean with coffee and tea facility's and a comfy bed. There is a lovely breakfast room down stairs with a great range to satisfies all. Hotels.com had a good deal on which included breakfast. The hotel is located in a convenient and central location. The staff were friendly and the room and bathroom were clean and pleasant. Another bonus was the the room had a nice little balcony with city view and fresh air. The stay was everything which we were hoping for.
