Mespil Hotel - Dublin

We were 3 girls on a long weekend trip to Dublin. Mespil hotel is a bit worn down, but you get what you pay for. Its located a bit on the outside the city centre, but its only a 15 minute walk trough the park down to trinity collage. We had a room on ground floor and it was okey. The first morning we discovered that our shower was broken. When we notified […] the front desk we got a new bigger room right away:) We did not have the breakfast at the hotel, but its lots of small nice cafes and dinners right near by. Taxi to the airport is 22 euro for one person and 1 euro extra for every other persons in the car. Down to Tempel bar is it about 13 euro. Les mer

Hotellet var helt greit. Var veldig forskjell på str på rommene, men det vi fikk var veldig stort og romslig. det var et lite stykke å gå inn til sentrum, ca 15-20 min. Alle taxiene visste hvor hotellet var, og det kostet sjelden mer enn en hundrelapp hjem til hotellet uansett hvor i byen vi var. Rolig strøk og kort vei til gamlebyen i Temple Bar-området og gågater i det nye og moderne sentrum i Dublin. I gåtid er det 10-15 minutt til sentrum, langs parkområdet St. Stephen`s Green. Hotellet ligger også i gangavstand fra den nye fotball- og rugbystadionet, Aviva Stadium.

Flott hotell. Kort vei til sentrum om man orker å gå. Bussen går rett utenfor omtrent, tar 3 min inn til sentrum

Vi ble meget positivt overrasket mtp at vi hadde bestilt et relativt billigt rom. Hotellet lå ca 15 min gange fra sentrum. Stort og deiligt rom med avslappende interiør. Hotellet hadde også meget bra roomservice meny og veldig god frokost om man bestiller "full frokost".

This hotel was really bad, the rooms looked really old, the bed was hard, the shower did not work rigth.

Good value for your money, very good standard for a three star hotel to be. +Free Wifi +Nice & clean room +Quiet neighbourhood +Good restaurant -no ventilation/AC -20min from downtown Will definitively recomend to others

Flott hotell som ligger ved Grand Canal, kort vei til hvor som helst i Dublin, samtidig som det ligger litt utenfor "turistfellen". Gode spisesteder og puber i nær gangavstand.

Hyggelig personale, god standard på rom og andre fasiliteter, kort gangavstand til sentrum.

A great place in every respect. Within 20 minute walking distance of Temple Bar. Otherwise you can take bus nr 10 to and from. We got a family ticket on the buss for 10€ which covered 2 adults and up to four kids. We were 2 couples so 4 kids was the same as another couple. We took a taxi a couple times before discovering this and they were expensive […] and not faster than the bus. The hotel was superb. A very nice 3 star hotel. Les mer

Hotellet var bra, men syns det lå litt usentralt.

While we had a nice time, the rugs seemed dirty. One of the bed comforters looked like it hadn't been cleaned after love making. And half the staff we interacted with were extremely rude. I will avoid this one in the future.

Really enjoyed our stay in the Mespil Hotel. Food, service, location excellent. Obviously a very popular hotel because there was a great buzz about the place. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

I really enjoyed my stay in the Mespil Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with plenty of space. The presentation of the room was fantastic, with the extra little touches like cushions and runners on the bed adding to the feel of luxury about the room. We ate in the bar downstairs, and while we were waiting a while […] for our food, it was well worth it! All food was freshly cooked and the taste was fantastic. The hotel slogan says that guests don't just stay AT the Mespil, they stay WITH the Mespil - it's not an empty slogan, the staff are incredibly pleasant and efficient. The location is great,so near to city centre and in a leafy spot beside the canal, with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. good quality clean hotel, if you want to go out in the city you will need a taxi but it is not too far. free parking and wii fi and very friendly staff.

Great Location, good staff, rooms a little dated and tired, good breakfast all up good value for money

Good hotel for the price (even though breakfast was NOT included and cost 8-10 euros). Rooms were nice and clean and the facilities were all in all worth the price. Center of Dublin is within walking distance (20min).

The hotel staff were all excellent, very professional but also friendly and helpful. The location is a little way from the town centre and Temple Bar but is within a few minutes walking distance of Baggot Street, which we found to be preferable to Temple Bar for pubs. lack of adequate parking is a big problem

Hotel had all i needed. Parking was my only problem, no spaced in their car park.. Location perfect, reception friendly.

Nice hotel overall, if a little dated!! Could do with a make-over! Very convenient location and the staff were very friendly. Good value for money

Stayed in Mespil hotel. perfect location to Baggot St and Lansdowne Road. lovely friendly staff. well reccommed staying here.

This hotel is very nice. I had a good time.

I like this hotel. Its in a great location. Great rates. Helpful staff. Basic, but very clean and comfortable. Some wear and tear showing but nothing major. This is a great hotel in a great location and great value. Book it!

Stayed during Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday 2011. Was woken at 1am and again at 4.30am by people coming into rooms next door. The walls are very thin! Also workmen in room next door banging at 9.00 on Tuesday; what a thing to do with occupants asleep in room next door!

A lot of restaurants. take-away, pubs and grosserishops nearby. Great room with lots of space. walking distance to city cener about 20 minutes.

overall ok. the staff is friendly. the cleanliness is ok. location ok only as a bit far from public transport. however the drawback is that the housekeeping staff is not so pro in the sense that never refill the necessary toiletories for us.

We found the hotel not up to a standard of cleanliness. Someone had written in the dusk on the legs of the chairs in the room HELP. What does that tell you. We booked a triple room, yet had to ask for three towels. We stayed two nights and had to ask for an extra towel and tea cup again. The room had an unhealthy air quality probably becaused of the […] dust and our room was situated at the back so we heard the garbage pick up and noise of the parking lot all night and early in the morning. Hotel located a little off the beaten track, but there within walking distance of downtown (about 20 minutes) and plenty of bus service. Good size rooms, wifi and computers in the lobby. Starbucks right next door and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Very good, comfortable, staff at front desk were very helpful and welcoming. Great value and a quiet room - plumbing was a bit noisy but did not cause a problem sleeping.

Bit of a walk into town, but otherwise very good location. Very friendly staff, large rooms, only suggestion would be to make it so the windows open (it can get a little stuffy).

Hotel staff were very helpful and full of information. We were given triple room when booked a twin, so it was nice and spacious.Beds very comfortable. Hotel further out of the main city than I'd thought. Would spend a bit more on a more central hotel if went to Dublin again, as spent a fair bit on getting busses(which will only take exact fare). I stayed at the Mespil Hotel in Dublin for 4 nights and was really impressed. It is hard to tell what you are going to get - booking online, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel room was great (clean and comfortable), the breakfast buffet was very satisfying and the staff were really helpful - especially Peter on the reception desk. He honestly […] helped us with our trip and all our queries more than he needed to. Being in a family room, it was a little annoying having to keep going to reception to request for more teabags, milk and an extra cup everyday, as the room wasn't stocked properly but other than that, the distance from the city centre was the only negative really. I didn't mind the daily 20min walk, but if you are only holiday with elder individuals, this may be something to consider. Les mer

The hotel is a very nice hotel, the staff are very accomadating. We arrived at 11am; due to check in for 2pm, we had arranged to leave the bags with the hotel, they gaves us a room at 11am. Very happy wth that. Unforunately the only negative i have with the room 516 is that it is situated right behind the elevator. My wife and i heard it only at night, […] in saying that we did sleep right through it as we were shattered from the dublin tours. I can only find one thing detremental durung my stay in the Mespil Hotel. A card suggesting ways of protecting the environment was in the room and one was leaving plastic bottles for recycling. On day prior to checking out bottles were left in room althgough they had been taken all other mornings and soap was not replaced in bathroom that same morning. Apart […] from this the stay was perfect and I would recommend the Mespil to anyone who is thinking of a stay in Dublin especially if going to the Aviva stadium or RDS as they are both within a 20 minute walk of the hotel. I would also recommend the restuarant for an evening meal, good selection of dishes and prompt, friendly and helpful service. Les mer
