The Emporio has always been a favourite of ours. The only issue being the loud music from Senor Frog's until 4am that the double glazing couldn't stop. This isn't the hotel's fault but I'd suggest splashing out for a sea view would help with this. All in all a great place in an excellent location with friendly, helpful staff.

I was after a simple, uncomplicated 3-day beach holiday so this hotel was more than adequate. There was a problem with my room's security box when I arrived, but hotel staff sorted it promptly (the safe simply needed new batteries). Emporio Ixtapa is right across the street from the shops, etc. that you would want to visit. Taxi service to Zihuatanejo is outstanding and the beach and hotel service is great. The staff are very friendly and do what it takes to satisfy their customer. I've been to Ixtapa several times and this last visit (Jan 4, 2013 - Jan 15, 2013) was the best.

NIce hotel, the room was basic but confortable with nice flower arrangements on the bed every day. The pool and restaurant service was nice and friendly but the room service was a bit slow. Overall a good experience.

The lobby has beautiful ambiance, the staff went above & beyond to help us. They called us by our names every time we saw them! Stayed at the hotel next door for 6 years and then the hotel became all inclusive so we picked The Emporio & loved everything about it! We will be going back next year & we are bringing more friends & family!

During our recent visit at Emporio Ixtapa in Nov 2012, it's a bit of disappointed. The air conditioning was a bit noisy. Sometimes, maids forgot to put towels, shampoo, soap, or shower cap. It took almost an hour for the hotel maid to bring the items to the room after it was reported to the front desk. The hotel is too cheap to give only a 500ml water […] bottle per day per room regardless how many people. Azul Ixtapa is a better choice with great food. Les mer

An inefficient air conditioning and stong mildew odor in the room. The swimming pool was also very dirty with the filtration system not working. I also have a serious problem paying for a bottle of water when the water in the room is not safe to drink. It is a courtesy to offer guest water to at least brush their teeth.

Located in a great position this aging hotel delivers on what you pay for. Rooms were o.k but with no balcony which would have been preferable. View from room was sensational. A good experience.

The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to take care of the few minor hiccups I encountered. The room was comfortable, other than lumpy pillows. But, I've had crummy pillows in expensive hotels too. I wish they had balconies off the rooms. But, Emporio is a good value for the price, and is one of the few hotels that offers a room rate without […] forcing an all-inclusive plan (although they do have that option.) Very nice property on the beach and close to restaurants, other activities within walking distance. Definitely get a room on a higher floor and with an ocean view. No balconies is a minus, though; it would have been nice to watch the sunsets from a balcony.

This was a very nice and decently kept hotel. Employees were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of chairs by the pool so we never had to get up early and save seats. The location is great, in the middle of the beach and close to restaraunts and shops.

We stayed one night in a corner room on the sixth floor at the Hotel Emporio in Ixtapa. The views were spectacular! The TV was updated recently to flat screen, and the other qualities of the room were nice. There was a great relaxed feel to the location, and the beach and water is the best in Mexico.

We stayed at the Emporio the 2nd week in January. It seemed like an off season because the hotel was at it's 40% capacity. The check in and check out was a bit frustrated because it was only one clerk and they could not find my information. That was the only inconvenience I could think off. We got the semi all inclusive package from Expedia. Their buffets […] were pretty good. If an item is not part of it, they will try to get it for you. The lady who makes the omelets make look grumpy at the beginning but once you start talking to her she is very friendly. Their Sunset Grill was awesome. Ask for Raul, at sunset Grill. Excellent service from him. Evaristo at the pool bar kept our drinks coming. All of their personnel is very friendly. They also extended my check out time for one hour due to my flight leaving at 5pm. Overall, it was a very nice stay. Would come back for a business trip, couples retreat, family vacation, friends get a way or even on my own. Relaxing place to stay. Les mer

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights. Housekeeping was inconsistent. One day we would get all the towels. Then second day we lose 1 face towel. Then the next day we lose another one. Also, we had 4 rooms and each room was inconsistent. One of my friends room had nice folded animal towels and was really nice!

This was our 2nd visit to Emporio in Ixtapa. The staff are very friendly and accommodated our every request. Our first room which was the less expensive "Mountain View" had a problem with the air conditioner and we spent an uncomfortable first night as the room stayed around 29 degrees celsius. In the morning we complained and were instantly upgraded […] to an "Ocean View" room with a kitchenette and a newer king sized bed. The air conditioner in this room was working very well. This hotel is not a 5 star but does not advertise as such. The location right on the beach, the very accommodating and friendly nature of the staff as well as how clean they keep the hotel and grounds make it a decent choice. We had the breakfast buffet every morning and although it had a smaller offering than some other hotels in the area we have stayed at, it was adequate and had some new offerings everyday. We found the food good. Overall I recommend this hotel and in fact will be back for a longer visit in December. Les mer

We arrived at 2 PM and were told the room wouldn't be ready until 4 PM, check-in time. We took a stroll along the beach and went and had a burger at Ruben's. (Pretty good sirloin burger btw.) We returned at around 3:40 checking to see perhaphs it was ready. Room not ready yet. Told again at 4. Returned at 4:05 and front desk called on the radio to see […] if room was ready. They were told it was and we were given our key. When we got to the room it was not ready. The maid was still next store. Went down to complain and they said they would make it a priority. Maid came right away so we waited outside in the hallway. We got in the room at 4:40. We were not asked to put a credit card on file to have credit. We were not given buffet breakfast coupons that was included. We discovered that the next morning at breakfast. After returning that evening from the beach and pool, the water pressure in the shower was almost non existent. The next night after returning from Zihuantanejo, there was no parking available until someone else departed. Free parking though is good. Overall a good hotel, nothing great. A/C was ok; beds were descent. The beach all along there is great. Playa de los gatos in Zihua is a nice little trip, beach is rocky in the water. Ixtapa Island is also a nice day trip. Good beach there. I would return to Ixtapa. Les mer

I am a fitness trainer and I travel to Ixtapa to visit my girlfriend who lives there. The Hotel was picked by her because of her experience with the area. The first trip I made was in the month of March. I booked a weekend stay for myself. My girlfriend came to the hotel that weekend to visit but didn't spend the night in the room. The Hotel staff charged […] me $30 just for her coming into the room. I made a second return to Ixtapa and the same Hotel Emporio on April 8-10, 2011. On this trip I was informed that I had to wear a shirt with sleeves in the dining are and could not wear my tank top. This same day I noticed women in bikini tops in the same dining area. They also again charged me $30 dollars per day for my girlfriend coming into the room. Total that weekend was $60 additional dollars. I went online to find that even if I had requested two adults online the price would have been the same as single. I informed the Hotel Staff of this and was still charged the fee. I felt real unwanted at this hotel. I did visit the Presidenti next door and was advised by their management that no such additional charge existed at their Hotel. That's where I plan to stay next trip. Although the Hotel Emporio was clean and in a good location, I felt unwanted by the Hotel. Never was I a problem to the Hotel or staff. This was my experence with the Hotel Emporio Ixtapa. Les mer

The Emporio Hotel was nice, if a little pricey. They offer oceanside views, and adjoining rooms upon request (though there is no door between them). The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. The rooms are also fairly large but don't have a balcony and very few power outlets (I had to unplug a lamp or two to charge my devices). Wireless internet […] is pretty speedy when I could get it to work with my computer. There is taxi service to and from the airport. They also throw parties on holidays like New Year's. The best part is that the hotel is right at the beach where there's lots of activity. It is also very close to a bustling town with many things to see and do. The area is very tourist friendly and safe, though there's a lot of soliciting and some timeshare scams to look out for. Many people speak English and Spanish, and accept both Dollars and Pesos (if you can't make it out to the bank). If you get injured during your trip, the hotel can help you get an on-call doctor that speaks English. Doctor visits and medication are very inexpensive. I think that's about it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to visit Mexico, especially in the Zijuantinejo/Ixtapa area. It's better than the Holiday Inn and similar in quality to (but in a better location than) Las Brisas. Les mer

Desgraciadamente no pudimos disfrutar del mar, pues el oleaje es demasiado fuerte, para bañarse hay que ir a otra playa. El desayuno muy variado y sabroso. Lo malo de la habitación era que del drenaje del baño salía un gran mal olor.

Chose this hotel as it offered WiFi in rooms.WiFi does exist but the connexion lasts 30 seconds at best, it is not possible to send mails via Outlook, have to use a webmail. WiFi in lobby works fine. As in most Hotel rooms there is a lack of plugs to charge phone and computer. Matteress has not been changed for a few years. Otherwise globally clean, […] not all personnel speaks english. Les mer

no volveria,la alberca estaba sucia, no tenia mantenimiento , todo contorno de la alberca despostillado , los tubos oxidados,nos tocaron el dia domingo a las 8 am para segun hacer el aseo y por logica nos despertaron, salimos habitacion y regresamos como 1pm y la habitacion estaba igual destendida la cama y no hicieron el aseo. pedimos algo de comer […] en la alberca nos enseñan una lista y pedimos unos nachos con costo $55 y al traer la cuenta nos los cobran en $69 pesos, nosotros conocemos varios hoteles de ixtapa y nunca nos habiamos encontrado con esto. el colmo gente comiendo a la orilla de la alberca y tirando comida dentro del agua.
