Nice hotel, but the name made us think it was an up scale newer hotel. The name has been changed. Everything is Pacific south seas decor. Lots of plants and great for the dog. It is more of a relaxing old style hotel. Really liked the patio door out to the plants and lawns on the first floor. The hot tub was only a few feet away.

Room 1216 was a bit neglected in terms of maintenance. Armoire lights would not turn off because doors would not fully close. TV picture was poor due to loose cable. Bathroom light was intermittent due to switch issue.

This is supposed to be a four-plus star rated hotel yet it has fallend into an average hotel. We were subjected to two or more girl softball teams who swam and made noise until 10:00 PM and then ran through the corridors knocking on doors. We could not get to sleep until past 11:00 PM. This used to be a hotel where your stay was quiet and above average […] but that has left this hotel. I told them that after staying there for over 40 years this would be my last stay. We left a day early (this morning) because of this and hope Hotels.com will refund our last day.'s rental. Les mer

My only issue was I could not locate the I e machine! I dined at the restaurant the staff was awesome and the food hot and delicious, used the pool and the facility was clean and had plenty of towels, and the guest room was clean, and beautiful with a nice view of the pool! We will be back!

This hotel is close to SeaWorld and the beach, which is great. But it's surrounded by other hotels and there is no place to just walk around and explore. Also, the room was comfortable and nice, but I was disappointed the cost of the room did not include parking or wifi. Even the most basic hotels I've stayed at have included these amenities at no additional […] cost. On the plus side, having a fridge and microwave in the room was a nice feature. Les mer

we had a terrible stay at this hotel. it wasn't the hotel's fault... rather it was the other guests staying there. when we got there, the front desk "upgraded" us from a king room to a queen room. we said no. we need a king. so we got to our room, and i think i know why he tried to "upgrade" us. the room had french sliding doors to the hallway. why […] you ask? to let all the noise in! it was single-paned to let all the noise in. to top that off, there was a large group of parents drinking beer by the pool with LOUD music on, with their 30 or so kids running around screaming. in the morning, we saw the kids wearing some sort of softball uniforms, so i'm guessing a tournament for 12 year old girls team of some sort. the music stopped at 6pm but the screaming kids running around did not stop till 10:30pm. both nights that we were there. we have a 3 year old, and he even said that it was loud and it prevented him from sleeping. the room itself was clean, but the carpets were aweful. the hotel was probably built in the 50s and updated in the 90s with a hawaiian tiki-theme. and it looked like it hadn't been updated since then. there was a delapidated hut next to the pool, and the dining area was dark and dingy. needless to say we did not eat there. there is little difference between here and the vegabond inn across the highway for 1/3 of the price. i highly recommend you looking into that option. Good Hotel. Better price. Closely located to old town district and major malls down the road. The hotel service will take you to the zoo, old town and any close place for a small tip.. I will stay there again.

Overall the hotel was fine but my room (first floor on the courtyard) was very musty - smelled like the carpet had been wet for a long time, and I had to pay for WIFI, wihch I think nowadays is silly.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights for a Sea World weekend trip. I'm from Inland Empire 2 hours North. This hotel was very nice. The landscaping was perfectly themed. As usual the front desk staff was extraordinary - Adam, MOD. The only disappointment...I expected free wi-fi in my room because I had it in September when I was there. I have stayed in cheaper hotels that had free wi-fi in the rooms. Small item unless you need it and find it is going to cost a high fee to get it. But, overall, a pleasant stay.

We've been staying here since it was the Hanalai years ago. The change in names has not changed the quality at all. Still very clean, very friendly and fairly quiet.

We had dinner at the restaurant, and were seated right away. We treated very well by all the staff. We plan to stay there again.

At first appearance the hotel seems great. We checked in only to find out we owed an additional fee for parking. We had been told when we booked that it was included in the price we already paid. We got to our room to find we didn't have the fridge and microwave as the description said we would. We needed that since we have a baby that needs her bottles. […] They switched us to another room that did have a fridge. The fridge didn't work. They brought us another fridge but it froze everything and we could not turn the temperature down. The bath tub did not drain, the toilet had a lingering smell, the sheets are what my husband calls paper sheets. They are very stiff and hard. When we went to use the hot tub and pool they were so dirty. They were allowing drunks to be in the pool with their alcohol even though it was supposed to be a family place. I couldn't let my toddler come with us because their were cigarettes and empty beer cans all over the place. When we asked the front desk about taking care of the mess they kind of blew it off. It was extremely disappointing. Last thing we hated was the fact that we had to pay extra for wifi. That only covered one devise. We both have iPads but had to pay a fee for each iPad each day. Check in and out process was great. Resturant was good but pricey service was a bit slow. But we were on vacation so we didn't care. Our bathroom door would not close. No big deal for us. Pool area is nice. Parking was convenient. One thing that was cool, if you skip out on maid service you get $5 coupon to spend on food at the hotel.

I have been a meeting planner for ten years and I wasn't expecting much for a one night stay in a three star hotel. The service was excellent, the sushi bar exceeded expectation and the location and convenience to SDSU were great. Good job to all on staff. It will be my hotel of choice when visiting my daughter at college

When I checked in the staff informed me they had given me a room away from the freeway noise,though freeway noise doesn't bother me it was nice to see they were thinking of there guest comfort. Hotel is very nice and well kept,grounds are very nice and in a tropical setting. Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking is $12 dollars a day with unlimited […] in and out priviledges. I like others who have reviewed this hotel believe parking should be free,but the rate charged is less then what I have paid at other hotels in San Diego,as high as $30 dollars a day. Parking spaces looked a little wider facing the hotel vs those facing away from the hotel and you may not beable to park close to where your room is located because the hotel is spread out over a wide area. The hotel does have a nice restuarant,bar and sushi bar. Very close to on ramps to freeway going north or south and very close to old town and the zoo. If you opt out of housekeeping service they will give you a $5 dollar coupon which you can use in the restuarant or bar. How it works is explained on a door hanger in your room. Minimum two nites stay required to qualify for coupon. Les mer

Much less expensive than surrounding hotels and still a nice room and amenities. I would stay here again. *Note* The only issue was having to pay to park at your own hotel.

This hotel needs a face lift really bad! Other issues: First, Pet Fee is outrageous! Granted Expedia FAILED to disclose the $75 (plus TAX!) Pet Fee on the website, but seriously $75? If I knew they charged that much, I would have NEVER booked this hotel. Second, parking fee $12 per car! Maybe it wouldn't hurt much if THE PARKING SPOTS WERE NOT SO NARROW! […] We have a Mini Countryman and when other people parked next to us, we could barely get in. That should give you an idea of how narrow the spaces are! Third, they made us pay another $12 so that my sister, who was visiting, can park in their lot. I don't think they had any FREE (meaning no charge) spots for people not staying there. If they did, well they certainly did not offer them to us. Fourth, I thought this was a hotel where you go thru a formal lobby then take an elevator to your room and such. When I was told we have to drive to the very back of the hotel and we park right outside, I knew then that it's one of those cheapy, 1 or 2 star hotel type with the door faces right out in the open. I did not feel safe leaving our dog in the room by himself at all! Fifth, they charge for WiFi. Sixth, didn't appreciate how front supervisor that checked us in acted when I said Expedia failed to disclose the pet fee. She was somewhat like "not our fault". Could have at least said "oh I'm sorry about that. Unfortunately the pet fee is in our policy"...something to make me feel better but instead just kinda put down even more! Les mer

Check-in process was ok, however when I got to the room, I noticed that one of the two sinks in the room were clogged with water in them. When I used the second sink it never drained and the water just accumulated in the sink. I proceeded to call the front desk who had maintenance and fixed the problem. Front desk staff was rude and uncaring. Room was cold due to door opening to outside. I was told I would be charged $12 for parking so I was surprised to get a bill for $12 a day for my 3 day stay. Breakfast buffet sucked and was too expensive.

The staff was friendly and it is a pet freindly hotel which is nice but if you don't want a room on the bottom floor it is an additional $45.00 a night if you have a pet. Also I still don't understand the $12.00 parking fee at this place. There is no parking deck just a huge lot that you would park in for free at many other hotels. Hotel heater was out #nd we had maintenance in our room for over three ours and only got a ten dollar break on the bill for not using maid servicel.

Night manager/supervisor was incompetent! Had to switch rooms because the heating and AC could not be fixed. At the beginning of my stay only the AC was operating. The first time staff came out to fix the heating in order to enable it and during that remedy somehow the AC stopped working. I didn't find that out until I came back from a dinner and the […] room was super hot and at that point tried to activate the AC and it wasn't working. The night shift manager wanted to send a technition to my room at 11pm and at that point I wasn't to confident in their technical maintenance department so I asked if there was another option and she offered a room, which was ok with me. It took 60 minutes for her to call me with a room. During that time I called her twice to inquire about my room. At that point all she could offer me due to the inconvenience was a free breakfast that I wasn't able to redeem because I was checking out a 5am and breakfast starts at 6. Wow! Les mer

The room had lint and paper scraps all over the floor near chair in the corner. The balcony was full of ashes from prior guests in the room or from the balcony above upon arrival on Friday and was not cleaned on Saturday so could not use the balcony at all!

Everything was great, but the heater was really loud. The room we were in had a pretty old wall unit heater. It was either cold in the room or really loud so we weren't able to sleep.

The rooms are a bit "older" and the walls are a little thin, however every single person that works at the Crowne Plaza are top notch. Excellent employees, friendly, always smiling, and helpful.

They checked us into a dirty, uncleaned room. It has not been cleaned from the previous occupant. Then they transferred us to a room that smelled like urine. We had to wait for an hour or so before someone was able to resolve the issue and move us to a clean room. We stayed at this hotel at least 3 times before. Pool was not useable as it was not heated. The jacuzzi was dirty - gross. There were people partying below our hotel room, I tried calling 4 times and the front desk was continually busy - so no help in getting some quiet. I think the people below us were smoking marijuana. Constant door slamming woke […] us up throughout the nights. Koi fish were gone - which is something our family really enjoyed in previous other visits. Mattress was not comfortable. Seems they are cutting back at this hotel. Sad to see the decline. Les mer
