Trivelig hotel med flott beliggenhet. Nært ferjeleiet og med en fantastisk utsikt over lagunen inn mot Venezia. Det anbefales å bestille rom mot lagunen fordi på baksiden av hotellet er det en vei og selv om ikke trafikken er overvettes stor er det en del støy. Særlig på grunnplan.

Hotellet bærer prev av at det er bygget 1380. Allikevel er det godt vedlikeholdt og moderne. Det som drar opp, er beliggenheten. Bare noen skritt fra Markusplassen. Like til en gondol holdeplass, samt en kan ta båttaxi praktisk talt fra resepsjonen direkte til flyplassen. Frokosten er enkel, men ikke dårlig.

Lite og trivelig hotell. Sentralt. Lite gatestøy på det rommet vi sov. Veldig fint og rent med varme på badet, god dusj. Trivelig frokostrom med god service og helt ok mat. God service og informasjon fra ansatte i resepsjon. Eneste minus var at vi ikke så noen rømningsveier annet enn den ene trappen vi kom opp.

We visited Lido in late September and even with a room located on the 5th floor we encountered a serious mosquito problem. Visit resulted in almost 100 badly itching mosquito bites after 4 nights. "Great time"
That was my first time at the Excelsior and the hotel was great. I was treated great buy the entire stuff. The only odd thing was the maid which tried to come into the room twice while we were in it. But beside that it was awesome.

This hotel has so much history and pedigree and so much going for it. It has the Mediterranean outside the window, with a lovely beach, it has a lovely, free, hourly, private shuttle to/from St. Mark's Square, it has large rooms that look like Mata Hari or Enrico Caruso just moved out. It has early 20th century summer resort splendor and grandeur. It […] also has less than perfect service (though most of the staff is friendly and well-meaning), the upkeep is lagging, and the quality of such simple things as tea is not 5 star. Overall, if you can live with some imperfections, it has charm and character and makes for a great stay in Venice. We visited with kids in the off season and had a great time. the boat ride morning and evening to/from Venice was a great way to start and end the day and the beach and the air refreshing in a way you couldn't get in Venice itself. "Travel in Style"
The highlight of the trip is the hourly private launch service from the hotel jetty into St Mark's Square takes 30 minutes but a chance to emulate the rich and famous of days gone by. Hotel a bit dated, needs to be restored to its original grandeur of 100 years ago, currently stuck in the 70's but still a nice place to stay.

The Hotel was majestic in its style. Having the complimentary water taxi at our disposal was great . It ran every hour and I found i ta very convenient and pleasurable way of getting back and forth to Venice and other islands. Our room although very clean, however its old world motif made us feel closed-in.

On advice from someone who had worked in Venice we parked up the car at San Guiliano for cheap daily parking rates if you use the private ferry service. You can also get a bus across which is included in the price of the venice transport pass. On landing in Venice we purchased the transport pass and took the trip across to Lido, from the port its about […] 2km to the hotel. We caught a taxi for a small charge. The staff greeted us on arrival, the room was an excellent size as was the bathroom. Although we had not paid any extras on the room rates we had a lovely view over the canal and hotel boat dock. Breakfast was superb with a view out to the ocean. What really made the trip was the private boat service which runs regularly between the other hotels on Venice, one of which is right next to San Marco Square, this boat service is included as part of the service. We were only there for 1 night but would certainly use this hotel again as a peaceful retreat within easy reach of Venice. Les mer

The size of the room was fabulous, staff very friendly and breakfast buffet sumptuous.It is noticible that its previous grandness is not being maintained in some areas and the cost of "extras" like 80 euro per day for the beach cabana is expensive. "Nice hotel if you don't want to be in Venice"
The hotel was very nice, the furnishings and carpet a little old. The beach is nice and only a 15 minute walk to the main part of the island. They do offer shuttle boats back and forth to Venice which was convenient. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we set out side and ordered to cokes. "Excelsior: beautiful hotel and worth every penny"
Beautiful, huge rooms - a very lavish buffet breakfast was included in our room price. Free wifi included, free shuttle to Venice, other extras too. I would stay here again - you are just a short shuttle ride away from Venice yet are able to enjoy the beach and pool of the hotel. Worth the price!

Highly recommend this santuary, by the beach, fantastic rooms and overwhelming breakfast. lovely bar nearby which does amazing pizzas. The only negative comment if pushed to make one about the hotel would be the drinks and food at the hotel are pricey.

We stayed four nights end of April/beg of May 2011. The weather was perfect, hot & sunny which was a bonus! The hotel was really old school grand and imposing. The room was plenty big enough for us as was the bathroom. All was excellent, clean,with good amenitites. we loved the location, as it has a private beach which was enormous and quiet while we […] were there. The pool area was very good too. Great location as the courtesy launch took us direct to St Marks Square or further along the Grand Canal. So once we had exhausted ourselves exploring Venice we could escape back to the tranquility of the Lido. The Lido incidentally was lovely, with excellent restaurants, Valentinos was a 4/5 min walk from the hotel and we had the best meal ever there!! My wie and I stayed in the Hotel Ecelsior for a few nights in the end of October 2010. The room was furnished to a high quality. The hotel ambience was relaxed and cultured. The staff were friendly. The buffet breakfast was fine although more like 3 - 4* quality. Hundred year old hotel on Lido Island- well maintained overall. Private water taxi available into Venice every hour- takes about 20 minutes to St Mark's Square. Would recommend for a summertime visit when you can take advantage of beach.

The hotel is lovely and includes a great breakfast. It is a little inconvenient to the main Venice attractions, but provides a free shuttle to San Marco piazza.
"Nice hotel, good location"
We were overall satisfied with the hotel. We arrived around noon and sat in the restaurant. Check in time was suppose to be 2 pm, but didn't receive the keys until after 3 pm. We were hoping that they will at least offer us a free drink or something, but no, nothing. Prices in the restaurant are extremely high, but location and atmosfare very nice. The […] rooms are great, comfortable beds, more like a suite. A lot of room, but had to ask for additional towels. GAve a tip and got towels. Next day we didn't see her and didn't get additional towels. Rooms were cleaned very late, sometime after 2 pm or later. We were usually out. For this price the internet could be free. They charge 15 Euro per day. Breakfast was included and was OK. We were there at the end of September, and even it was very warm the pool was not heated anymore and the water was really cold. They have a free boat-shuttle to San Marco piazza and some other locations every hour, but when it's high tide you have to walk to another location about 800 meeters. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. As for other things in Venice, if you like and can walk a lot, then buy a day pass and then just use the public transportation to go to different locations. Taxis are very expensive and the hotel tells you one price, when you arrive they ask you a higher fee. So, ask then rightaway"how much?". The same with gondolas. "Another Time and Place - The Excelsior"
We do wish we had better info on how to get to location. We walked with our backpacks and rolly bags for about 45 minutes. When we found it, it was beautiful and elegant from the outside. The interior of the lobby was cool and spacious-- I am sure this was a desitination in the glory days for the well bred and famous-- I wandered the grounds and inside […] passageways and loved every minute of it. We ran along a path that was alongside the beach. We bought a bottle of wine in Venice and went out on the long pier and sat and rested after a busy day in Venice. Our room and bathroom were so huge and amenities were also very impressive. The range of breakfast is fantastic as well. They have their boats to go to the san marco, we could use them for free during our stay. I strongly recommend this hotel to everybody. It is an excellent hotel.

We arrived on the Lido and got a taxi to the hotel as we were unsure where it was but found there is a main street which stretches from front to back of the lido so we could have walked it approx 20 mins. The hotel itself was all we had hoped for and more. The staff were courteous and helpful and the room large, clean and airy, the breakfast was good […] with the opportunity to eat outside overlooking the beach area. The hotel had it's own private beach which was great but we didn't have a long enough stay to make the most of it as we spent a lot of time in venice. The great thing about getting to venice was that the hotel ran a Water taxi service free of charge which went to venice on the hour and came back every half hour. This made the days stress free and left us to enjoy the sights and cuisine. Venice is lovely and the weather was kind , after a lot of walking round a busy venice it was nice to relax in the quiet and comfort of the Excelsior , we had a great holiday and would not hesitate to go to venice and use the excelsior hotel when we do. excellent!! "Wonderful Hotel"
The hotel was very nice and elegant. It was no problem to get from the Lido island to Venice. 10min boat ride and that is provide free by the hotel. The resturants at the Hotel are overpriced as they r in many 4&5 star hotels. But the Hotel staff will direct u to more value price resturants on the Island. Love the place!!

"Breath-taking"
We loved every minute of our stay and hated to leave. We had never been to Venice before, and we were unsure of the geography. The Hotel is on an island called Lido, about a very easy 30 minute boat ride to the actual city of Venice. The hotel has its own private boats that take you to San Marco Square with great frequency. The public boat (more like […] an aqua-subway) is also very easy to use, cheap and convenient. It was great to spend a leisurely morning at the Hotel, and then go 'into town' when we wanted to. Venice is spectacular! And also very crowded with tourists...so it was a relief to be about to go back to the regal splendor (and quiet) and The Hotel Excelsior. Great place! Les mer
"Gem of a hotel in Venice Lido"
My husband and I had a fantastic stay at the Excelcior Hotel on the Lido, Venice. The staff were fantastic and NOTHING was too much trouble, we had been told it was a Teaching Hotel and this showed. The hotel is situated about a 15 minute walk into the Lido centre with some great bars and loads of places to eat. The hotel is a 30 minute water bus staight […] from the Marco Polo Airport to the Lido and then 5 minute taxi straight to the hotel, simple! It was fantastic to get the FREE luxury boat from the hotel and back directly into San Marco square and it would be brilliant to escape the hoards of tourists after a hot day in Venice and get back to the fantastic pool in the hotel, this service ran most of the day and back at night on the hour. The room we had was large and spacious and very Morocan in style and the maids were brilliant with unlimited amounts of clean towels and the turn back sevice left us with the obligatory chocs. We had a small leak in the bathroom and it was fixed by maintanance within 20 mins. Cannot praise the place enough and we will definately be back to Venice with this Hotel top of our list of great places to stay Les mer

E' sempre un hotel da visitare ma non è più quello di una volta. Colazione buona ma non prendete il caffè. Il ristorante vale la pena personale gentilissimo e prezzi abbordabili x un 5 stelle. La piscina è veramente un angolo di paradiso. Cercate di spuntare una buona tariffa e andateci.

Sollte man genügend Geld übrig haben, und über keinen Geruchssinn verfügen, ist dieses Hotel zu empfehlen.....Die Zimmer sind uralt, dreckig und stinken dermassen dass man nur mit offenem Fenster sich dort aufhalten kann...die Liegen am Strand kosten 80,-- Euro am Tag!...die Getränke im Hotel zwischen 8,-- Euro (kleines Wasser) und 14,-- Euro (Bier)....ansonsten […] die Lage ist gut...wenn man gerne Boot fährt...(Entfernung zur Altstadt ca. 25 Minuten)....beim Frühstück sollte man sich beeilen.....sonst ist um 9.30 Uhr nichts mehr da..... L'hôtel se trouve sur l'île du Lido, donc pas dans Venise. Mais il y à un service de navette en bateua organisé gratuitement par l'hôtel et qui vous amène en 15 mn sur la place Saint Marc, et vous ramène également à l'hôtel. Navettes toutes les 2 heures. Ils sont trés ponctuels.

Nachdem das Hotel de Bain auch weiterhin seine Tor nicht öffnen wird bleibt das Excelsior die beste Adresse am Lido. Wir hatten Anfang April, bei Sonnenschein und Frühlingsflair kurz nach der Winterpause ein wunderschönes Zimmer mit wirklich traumhaftem Meerblick von Bett und Toilette. Es hat sich ein wenig getan im Haus, das Management hat gewechselt […] und kleine Renovierungsarbeiten wurden erledigt. Auch wenn die roten Kunstledersessel im Foyer nicht die alte Grandezza herbeizaubern können, so schaut es doch ein bischen gepflegter aus als noch vor einem Jahr. Charmig hotell från början av 1900-talet. Mycket trevlig personalen och ok service. Privat strand och pool som vi inte använda (vi var där oktober). Mycket bra att vi bodde på ön Lido för att komma ifrån turistvimlet i Venedig och klar fördel med kostnadsfria skytteltrafik i hotellets privata båt. Båten kan ta er till glasfabriken som kan vara intressant. […] Var dock observant med räkning vid utcheckningen som kan saftas till med nota från minibar som inte stämmer med verklighet. Les mer
"Skønt histrorisk strandhotel i Venedig"
Kan klart anbefale Hotel Excelsior på Lido. Et gammelt utroligt smukt strandhotel med meget imødekommende service fra personalet. Store værelser - vi blev opgraderet - og super morgenmadsbuffet. Dejligt at hotellets båd til Venedig afgik direkte fra hotellet. 15 minutter til Markus pladsen. Virkelig fint til prisen.

Das Excelsior ist definitiv eines der besten Hotels in und um Venedig. Ein Haus mit viel Flair und viel Geschichte. Von der Architektur her, gleicht es eher einem Palast. Service entsprechend einem 5-Sterne Hotel - tadellos, ausgesprochen freundlich, hilfsbereit etc. .... Die Preise (v.a. für Dinner) entsprechend auf 5-Sterne Hotel - und natürlich auf […] Venedig-Niveau Das Zimmer war rießengroß; sehr sauber (für mich als Allergiker natürlich immer sehr wichtig!) mit einem genialen Ausblick in Richtung Besonders angenehm der Shuttle-Dienst Hotel-Markusplatz-Hotel in einem noblen Motorboot. Angenehm waren die Sitzheizungen (Ende Oktober wird es am Abend dann doch schon ziemlich kalt) fährt ca. 10 - 15 Min und das jede Stunde (zumindest im Oktober); letztes Shuttle Boot geht um 24:00 Uhr in Richtung Hotel. Lage: Ende Oktober ist natürlich am Lido tote Hose; es gibt ein ausgezeichnetes Restaurant (Valentino)(wurde uns vom Concierge empfohlen) in der Nähe (10 Min. zu Fuss). Ansonsten gibt es in Venedig mehr als genug Restaurants und Bars. Ein Dank auch an Hotels.com; das Sonderangebot (3 Nächte, 1 davon gratis) war klasse und mit der Buchung hat alles perfekt geklappt. Mycket praktiskt att med direktbåt från hotellet hamna vid centrala Markusplatsen. Bodde därmed i ett mycket lugnt läge utanför själva Venedig men med känsla av att starta och avsluta dagen direkt i centrum. Mycket serviceinriktad personal och en utmärkt frukostbuffé som täckte in det mesta av alla tänkbara förväntningar. Vi bodde i ett standardrum […] utan några extra tillägg men det var väl tilltaget. Extra plus för concierge-servicen som var suverän. Litet minus för att det varken fanns strykjärn eller byxpress varken på rummet eller att tillgå för användning, alla behov av pressning hänvisades till tvätteriservicen för en inte obetydlig kostnad per plagg som dessutom kräver inlämning i förväg. Även ett litet minus för de hutlösa priserna i minibaren. Les mer
"teruig naar de 'Fin de siecle'"
Ik en mijn vrouw hebben mijn 50 jarige verjaardag gevierd in dit hotel op het Lido. Onze eerste keus was het hostorische hotel Les Bains op het Lido (vlakbij) maar dat is vanwege verbouwing gesloten. Achteraf heel tevreden met dit hotel en kan het iedereen aanbevelen. Het hotel was zo vriendelijk mij te verrassen met een verjaardagstaart!
