This was a very nice hotel to a very good price! Close to the airport, shuttleservice and a nice pool area.

This was my second time staying at Barcelo and it was as good as the first. I would stay there again. They should include the internet in the room.

Wonderful property. Great restaurants and shops on premise > Front counter staff great checking in and bad attitudes when we checked out. Asked to get back in room after check out forgot my glasses and they said no but

I enjoy the view I had from my room. Great service and spacious room and rest room.

After 2 weeks in the Highlands, this hotel was very glamorous. Great bars and try to get the breakfast buffet included. Make sure to ask for 1 water bottle per person, otherwise they charge you $2 per bottle, but the desk folks were nice enough to deduct the charges from our bill.

We had a excellent experince the service was super and the food at the hotel great, we definly go back in the future, also the security in the hotel was great. we feel safe.

Excellent location. Easy access to everything including airport, restaurants, main roads and highways to great locations outside of town. Fairly easy to get around with rental car. They did not honor all the purchases that came with our hotels.com payment. For example, we paid for a "Club Premium" room which includes a nice breakfast and happy hour […] buffet on the 9th floor; however, we also paid for free wi-fi and they did not honor that. They claimed it was not part of their "Expedia.com or internet deals." Most of the staff was rude and untrained. For example, on our first morning at breakfast we went to the main restaurant downstairs for our Club Premium breakfast. We were told by the young lady at the counter that our purchase did not include breakfast. When we complained and a supervisor got involved, after they walked away for 15 minutes to check our status at the front desk, they returned to tell us breakfast was on the 9th floor Club Premium room. It was a nice outcome, but a painful experience and only 1 of the 4 staff members involved could really help us. I have stayed in Guatemala City 12 nights for business over the last 1 year. I've tried 3 different hotels. Hotel Barcelo, Radisson, Clarion Suites. Barcelo and Radisson are a tie for first for ammenities but Clarion has the better rooms. Barcelo is most similar to a U.S. chain. Has great ammenities like a great swimming pool and exercise facility. 2 restaruants on site (the hotel restaruant and a Sushi place which is very good). The business center is very convenient in the event they do not honor their wi-fi or internet access payment (referenced above). And they have the major airline offices their (American and Continental). Down side is the untrained staff and they don't honor all Hotels.com (or internet) purchases for the ammenities. Les mer

You can tell that his used to be a very nice hotel. It now needs a little updating in the rooms - but the common areas are very nice. Hotel shuttle to airport only leave son the hour which is not real convenient.

Over all it is a very good hotel, the only thing that upset me is a hotel at this lever has no free wifi.

A large commercial hotel conveniently located close to the airport. Music was excessively loud in the only bar area. Talking was impossible. Music in Strikers prevented us from eating there. The Buffet dinner restaurant was quieter, but very "bright" full overhead lighting. Service however was excellent. Rooms were clean and functional.

this hotel is clear and the service is good . all staff are friendly. it's provide the free shuttle bus. BUT IT NEED TO PAY FOR INTERNET . USD 10 for one day. If the internet can be free will be PERFECT. Otherwise, everything is good . recommand to stay . It has KFC , supermarket and some restaurant nearby.

If have a chance to go there again. I will stay there again. I recommand this hotel to everyone.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, good shuttle service to n from airport n surrounding area. Nice view from the higher floor.

This is our second stay at Hotel Barcelo (28/29 December) but this one resulted from an enforced return to England. Notwithstanding, our request for a non-smoking we were allocated one! ..... but were too tired and exasperated by a 30 minute bureaucratic reception/arrival procedure (they could not find our booking on their system, asked me to produce […] our voucher which I only had on the internet - so asked me to go to their business centre to print it off unfortunately firstly their computers were not working and when they came to life the printer would not print ........... but eventually), to complain about the acrid smoke odour in the room. Except for the room, this hotel is ''squeaky clean''., lacking in warmth exemplifed by the automotons which they would call staff. Les mer

This is a great place to stay, great bar and breakfast!

I stayed at the Hotel for a business trip and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and I was able to have meeting in the lobby with clients. The hotel has everything you need. I will definitely stay there on my next trip.

Excellent attention to guests makes you feel at home. The warm environment is also great for business meetings and social encounters.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful. While we appeared prior to check in time, the room was ready in ten minutes. The room was comfortable, the restaurant excellent and the shuttle to the airport was in time and made the normal trials of flyimg a little less sressful.

People at the restaurant totally go out of their way to service you, great food as well. It is on the expensive side for Guatemala.

Lovely hotel and restaurants. Only suggestion I would add is to ask for a non-smokers room if you aren't a smoker.

wowow..amazing nice hotel.....

We got an excellent deal on a room at the Barcelo when we passed through Guatemala City. We slept five people in a room (they brought in a comfortable roll away bed for no extra charge) and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very helpful staff, lovely room with two balconies for a grat view of the mountains. Affirdable luxury.

Great location ...close to the airport!!! Very friendly staff....we were very happy!

What a pleasant surprise. This hotel has an immaculate facilities and wonderful rooms. There are two towers to the hotel - a newer tower and an older tower. When I checked in the clerk said that for a slight increase in fees, I could be put in the new tower. I highly recommend doing this. . The rooms in the new tower are quite modern and very clean. […] They also have good views. The food was excellent. The main restaurant in the hotel has all-you-can eat buffets for breakfast and dinner. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed here one night while visiting a friend in GC. Although guate City itself has little to recommend, I found this hotel to be lovely. Rooms were clean with nice bathrooms and lots of hot water. The breakfast buffet was top-notch. I ate dinner at the sushi restaurant, which was fresh, yummy, and well-appointed. There was a beautiful pool I would […] have used if the weather had been better (hot tub also). A nice-size gym, a hair salon (open on Sundays but pretty pricey) -- pretty much anything you'd want. You never have to leave the hotel (you might not want to anyway) and there's not much to see in the city anyway. Les mer

The two complainst that I have is that the room service was bad. The second night that i requested hot water for tea I had to call twice before they brought me the hot water and the third night I called and I waited 20 minutes and they never came. I finally went to bed. The service in the main restuarant was not the best. i had to make several attempts […] to get one of the waiters to bring me coffee. The service and mantinience was much better when it was a Marriot hotel. It seems like the spanish chain Barcelo does not like to spend any money. Les mer

I traveled a lot in Guatemala but the Barcelo was the absolute best Hotel I stayed in. Rooms are very well equipped, clean and very comfortable. And if you like to do something else than kick back and relax in this nice environment than the Hotel offers 3 different Restaurants (Sports Bar, Japanese Restaurant and mainstream dishes at a high quality) […] a newly renovated Fitness room, large outdoor pool and Jacuzzi.I only stayed one night and flew out the next morning but I could have easily stayed another 2-3 days here just to relax. Rooms are large and pretty clean conditions. Staff is cordial and helpful. The included breakfast buffet is good and had dinner at the same restaurant which was also good and reasonable price.
