Hotel was clean and the staff was helpful and courteous. But too pricey for what you get.

It's a Ritz-Carlton, so the hotel was good overall. But when you are staying at a Ritz-Carlton and paying top rates you expect a LOT more than good. This location pales in comparison to other Ritz-Carltons that we have stayed at, mostly due to the facilities upkeep (needs a lot of work) and food. A few notes: 1) The Junior suite is NOT a suite. It's […] just a room with a few extra square feet. We fell for this and had to pay an additional several hundred dollars/night+++ to get upgraded to an actual suite to accommodate our family (traveling with 2 small kids). 2) We ended up staying in three different rooms, mostly due to ongoing room maintenance issues (A/C, showers, door locks not working in various rooms). 3) The food (outside of the two good restaurants) was horribly disappointing for a Ritz-Carlton, particularly considering the price premium. Think Holiday Inn food quality. On the upside, the beach was great (best in San Juan), the pool is great, and the staff is overall very helpful and friendly. They just need to invest some time and money getting the facilities up-to-date and borrowing some recipes and/or cooks from the other Ritz-Carlton's. Les mer

great interior and of course amazing ritz service. not a great location for those who want to go back/forth into old san juan as its costly each trip in taxis. room was in excellent condition but of course not very large, as is normal.

Nice hotel but rug in lobby needed to be cleaned. My biggest issue was the cleanup. Towels & cups everywhere by the pool. 2 days I had to call to have my room cleaned. The area surrounding was not so great.

Everything was great except the food in San Juan was poor or very expensive. I visit Las Vegas often and that was the biggest thing that I noticed. Food in Vegas was very good and cheap.

We recently took advantage of the Ritz's 4 for 3 promotion and had one of the best family vacation in recent memory. We are a family of 4 with two kids (5 and 2) - kids love the hotel so much they asked to stay there forever because they did not want to go back to "the USA". The highlights of the hotel are the private beach and the swimming pool with […] 50 workers bringing you towels and setting up your chairs and what not. I accidentally ran into the Hotel's General Manager in the elevator. I could tell he worked for the hotel but did not know he was the GM as he looked perhaps too young to be in such a senior post. After a few nicety exchanges he gave me his card and asked me to contact him if I needed anything. I told him my wife and kids have been very excited to stay at a Ritz Hotel for the first time. Guess what! That night someone knocked on the door and there came a bottle of Moet champagne in an ice bucket, chocolate covered strawberries, nice bottle of wine, a box of expensive cookie trios. We were ecstatic and touched. A couple days later in the breakfast room, the lady manager just gave us two nice Ritz bags in which there were high quality T-shirts for our kids. Really, we thought they must have mistaken us for someone famous. The last time that happened was when I was in Lebanon and someone mistook me as a grandson of Chairman Mao and I got free food and booze for an entire week. Anyway, I can't recommend the Ritz in San Juan highly enough. Les mer

Our one day stay at the Ritz was absolutely wonderful. This was our last stop before heading home. Compared to other hotels on the Island, even the W in Viequez, the Ritz was the best when it came to customer service. All the employees were very attentive and helpful. Staff was very nice and responsive. It had very expensive food, coffee, etc. The pool was open 24 hours which was nice for an evening swim. The kids club was closed and our room had a mildew smell. The location was a bit out of the way and not many places to walk to.

The Staff was very accommodating! The hotel was in a location that was close to the airport. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable.

The customer service at the hotel was great. The pool servers were great at setting everything up for us the moment we got there. The front desk was nice but messed up on our wake up call we asked for. Overall it was a nice location and the beds were great. We had a great time and would recommend the Ritz.

As expected, the experience Ritz Carlton in Puerto Rico was excellent. 1) very convenient to the airport (10 minutes) 2) service was excellent from the doorman, to receiption, the club level and management 3) BLT is the best steakhouse on the island. I woudl highly recommend the Ritz Carlton.

Exceptional Resort Hotel. Recently spent 7 nites at this hotel, celebrating our 26th anniversary. Beach, pool, resturants all top quality. Everyone on the hotel staff was more than friendly, helpful and courteous. One of the best vacation my wife and I have ever taken. We will definately return soon and then again and again. This is a very nice, comfortable hotels. The staff went out of their way to be friendly or helpful. It is a bit pricey but what so expect after all it is the Ritz Carlton. We absolutely loved the comfort of the beds.

Hotel was in a great location to airport, and nearby Old San Juan, but with virtually no noise from airport. Beautiful beach. Pool was starting to show signs of age, but still in excellent condition. Beach bar was limited, should have more local cuisine options, and a higher end drink menu. Service was prompt and very attentive. Weekend it got busy […] and couldn't be as regular as it was during the weekday. Lobby bar was terrific. Casino was small but had everything you wanted. Spa was closed and so they were using a guest suite as the temporary spa. Not a good choice. They should make that very clear to guests. Our room was beautiful high floor corner overlooking ocean and pool. Terrific. Found it odd that the rooms did not ahve a dresser for clothes, but overall the room was excellent. Very comfortable beds. Nice shower. Lots of towels. Overall a great experience. We will return. Les mer

Loved our stay! The service, cleanliness and hospitality was outstanding. The hotel is beautiful and we didn't have any complaints. The mojitos they serve on the beach were the best! We would def go back.

Top notch at the best hotel in Puerto Rico! Location is beautiful inside and out and the service is second to none. The beach is perfect and the ocean is very swimmer friendly. The pool is so pretty that it's hard to pass up on your way to the sand and sea. Stayed in a Ocean Front with balcony room and it's worth the price. Spectacular views, super […] comfy bed and a bathroom with more amenities than are list-able! They really spare no detail, but for that luxury you will spare no price! It's expensive here, but the outcome is so worth it that you don't mind. The drinks are very innovative and tasty, but you won't find one for under $16, still I didn't mind ordering another. One thing that is nice is the bottles of water are everywhere and free and like a typical Ritz, they service your room twice a day. Their service really can't be compared, they don't stop once meeting your request, always offer you more. Great location for business (there was lots of that going on there), couples or families. They have a car rental location right there on the property so if you want a car just for a day you can, and I recommend that for the rain forest. When going to Old San Juan get a cab (they cost $21/flat rate) as in towns built in the 1500's there wasn't too much for parking. There are also local bakeries very close to avoid spending $100 at breakfast and fun bars right there. Otherwise, go to Old San Juan. Fun times!! Les mer

Beautiful resort with great pool and access to beach. Restaurants and drinks on site a little pricey, but overall great food and drinks. Could use more staff on the beach taking drink orders and beef up the wifi so you can use your computer/tablet on the beach. Hotel is smoke free, but often encountered guests smoking throughout the resort. Make sure you get ocean view room. Everything was wonderful except if you rent a car you ha e to pay 18 a day. Best hotel in puerto Rico. For relaxing and families/couples. If your more of a party crew then stay next door at old San Juan hotel. Go to club brava and don't miss el yunque rainforest waterfall.

IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I STAYED IN THIS HOTEL. HOTEL IS QUIET, NOT LIKE OTHER HOTELS, REALLY PUERTO RICAN HOTELS. I ENJOYED THE FOOD THERE - BOTH STEAK HOUSE AND ITALIAN. THE KING SIZE BED IS COMFORTABLE.

My boyfriend and I went on this trip to celebrate our birthdays. We thought the hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. To be expected meals at the hotel were expensive but we walked down the street of the hotel and found some great authentic reasonably priced restaurants. There was also a Walgreens next door to the hotel that we revisited daily […] for water, snacks, and booze and brought back to the hotel. The hotel staff either didn't care or pretended not to notice. I do wish there was a little more going on here at night but instead we walked over to El San Juan hotel and went out in Old San Juan. Rating was a 4 and not a 5 for 2 reasons: (1) staff don't seem to realise all of their functions in the restaurants. They are there to serve timely and listen to the customer. Is it the worst in the world? no. But I expect a little more from a 5 star. (2) breakfast options are a joke - a la carte menu prices FORCE you to eat the buffet and they wanted […] to charge for my 4 year old daughter who eats 2 pancakes. I would be ok with the price if the scrambled eggs were better and there was more of a fruit selection. At RC Barcelona and Miami the choice and quality is so much better (& more expensive) but I am happy to pay for better quality. It was not good enough for the price. Les mer

I'll just give some quick notes regarding the family-friendliness of this hotel... Stayed at the Ritz last week with my wife and 14-month toddler, and it couldn't have been a better trip. Before our flight we'd asked to reserve a crib and they also referred us to a local service (which we didn't end up using, but it's good to know about) for renting […] other large, non travel-friendly equipment like strollers and car seats. Apparently, the service will deliver & pick-up the requested items directly from the hotel to avoid any hassle on the traveler's end. The Ritz had our reserved crib sent directly to the room upon our arrival. It wasn't the most comfortable-looking thing, white metal bars on wheels with a mattress and two sets of fresh bedding, but did the job and fit in a space right next to the TV so it was never in the way. For naps, the black-out curtains definitely worked and we were able to open them slightly (or crack the bathroom door open) to simulate the night light that she's used to. The rooms are sound-proofed enough that our screaming baby wasn't heard through the walls of the next room (in-laws came with us and we hid out in their room during naps) and sound from the hallways or other rooms didn't bother her. Another noteworthy nap tip is that our baby monitor was able to get signal out in the pool deck area...sweet. I'll finish by saying the restaurants were very accommodating, providing high-chairs and crayons/DVDs during our meals. Would stay again. Les mer

I was disappointed with our stay- the rooms were small for the price, the beach area wasn't has nice as shown in web site advertising. The hotel is very overpriced- on everything especially in their restaurants. Too close to airport- you hear every plane taking off and landing.
